Instant Activity:
Good afternoon class! As you come in
please sit on a polly spot. Today class
will be a little different than usual. We are
going to start our day off with a few static
and dynamic stretches. By show of hands
does anyone know what a static stretch
is? Correct! It is a stretch that is
conducted while standing in one place
such as reaching down to touch your toes.
Can someone tell me what a dynamic
stretch is? Correct! It is stretch that is
conducted while moving from one place
to another or rapid movement while
standing in place, such as high knees.
Before we start, I want everyone to place
their hands over their heart and feel their
heart rate. Your heart should not be
beating fast. Does everyone feel how
slow your heart rate is? Yes! The
stretches that we are going to do and the
activity that we are going to do is going
to raise our heart rates. May I have 2
volunteers please? (one student will stand
on each side of me) Every please stand
on your feet. Each stretch will be held for
a count of five. We are going to start off
with jumping jacks. Ready, Go! The next
stretch we are going to do is high knees.
Ready, Go! The next stretch we are going
to do is butt kicks. Ready, Go! The next
stretch that we are going to do is lunges.
Ready, Go! Good Job! Thank you for
volunteering and assisting me with
teaching the class a few stretches. I need
everyone to have a seat.

will be the same and some will be
replaced with a dynamic stretch or drill.
Start/Stop Signals:
To gain students
attention, I will blow
the whistle and they
will place their
hands on their heads,
with all eyes on me.
Purpose:
The purpose of this activity is to keep
your heart rates up, keep you motivated,
and to teach you the importance of
following directions and working
together.
Grouping Strategies:
Polly spots will be
arranged on the
black top. As
students come to
class they will be
directed to find a
polly spot and sit on
it.

CLOSURE:
Review:
Good Job Tiger Pride! You all did an
outstanding job today. Maybe you can go
home and teach your family members.
Can someone demonstrate a static
stretch? Good job! Can someone
demonstrate a dynamic stretch? Great!
Do me a favor and place your hands over
your hearts. Your heart rates should be
ponding a lot faster than they were
before you started the activity right? Yes!
Tomorrow Ms. Lauren will work with you
more on your Whip and NaeNae COTS
so make sure you practice. Ok Tiger
Pride, bring it in! One, Two, Three, Tiger
Pride! See all of you Wednesday.
