A. Pre – Reading Activities
1. Unlocking of Difficulties
Unlock difficulty words found in the story through pictures

2. Motivation:
Song: “Ang mga Ibon”
Have you seen a bird?
Let pupils tell something about a bird.
3. Motive Question:
Who is Wako?
4. Listening to a story: “ Si Wako ang Matalinong Kuwago”
Teacher shows the picture in the story and let the pupils tell something about the picture.
Mention the title and the author.

Si Wako ang Matalinong Kuwago


Si Wako ay isang kuwago. Kakaiba siya sa lahat ng kuwago. Siya ay
mahilig magbasa at magsulat. Hindi siya tulad ng ibang kuwago na tulog ng tulog.
Lahat ng aklat ay binabasa ni Wako. Isang araw, nagpulong ang lahat ng mga
kuwago upang parusahan si Wako. Ngunit ipinaliwanag ni Wako ang kahalagahan
ng pagbabasa at nang pagiging marunong magsulat. Sinubukan ni Wako na
magkuwento. Nagulat ang matatandang kuwago sa galing ni Wako.Lahat ng mga
Kuwago ay tuwang-tuwa na makinig sa kanya. Tinuruan sila ni Wako na magbasa
at magsulat ng bilang. Magmula noon ay nagbago ang buhay ng mga kuwago.
Hindi na sila tulog ng tulog. Sila ay naging mahilig sa pagbabasa at pagsusulat.
Naging modelo para sa kanila si Wako.

A. Preparation
Recall the story “ Si Wako, ang Matalinong Kuwago”
Who is the main character in the story?
What sound do you hear at the beginning of his name?
Can you give me other words that begin with /w/?

B. Motivation
Puzzle the Philippine Flag (WATAWAT)

What is in the picture?


What are the colors in our Philippine Flag?
What is the beginning sound of the word “Watawat”?

C. Presentation

Show the picture of things/object that begin with letter W w

Modeling
Teacher names the picture one by one.
(Give emphasis on the beginning sound of the pictures.)

The teacher produces the /w/ sound as the pupils listen.

Say: This is the uppercase W and this is the lower case w. Produce the letter name three times with the pupils.
The teacher models the proper way of writing W, w. Have the pupils write the letter W, w in the air, on the
palm, at the back of their classmates, on their desk, and on their lap. Ask volunteer pupils to write W, w, on
the board. Encourage the pupils to count the number of the strokes as they write the letter and assist pupils
with writing difficulty.
Have pupils write letter Ww on their writing notebook.

Independent Practice
Teacher presents the generated words, phrases, and sentences and let the pupils read.
