Rolling and Synchronising Check list for 660MW Steam Turbo generator.

Ensure Turbine oil pump(AC), Main Stratup oil pump is in serice and DC
1 pump is in interlock.Lube oil pressure : >0.176Mpa and L.O.T:40 deg.C
2 Ensure Turbine jacking oil pump are in service and DC pump is in interlock.
3 Turbine is on Barring gear and eccentricity is < 20 microns.
4 Ensure EH oil pump is in service and other EH oil pump is in interlock.

Main Seal Oil pump is in service and other AC pump and DC emergency
5 seal oil pumps are in interlock. Seal oi to Hydrogen DP is Kpa.
Seal oil vacuum pump in service and H2 purity is more than 98% & H2 Pr
6 >414 KPa.
Ensure stator water pump is in service , parameters are normal and other
pump is in interlock. Stator water tank level:~480mm and
7 Conductivity:<1.5us/cm
8 Check the turbine control oil pressure is around 14.55MPa
9 Both vacuum pumps running and vacuum is > 90kPa.
Ensure Auxilary header pressure is normal and Gland steam system is
10 healthy.
11 Ensure LP turbine exhaust hood spray is in service.
12 Ensure All turbine drains & its isolation valves are open
13 All extraction line drains are open.
Ensure instrument air supply is available for HP casing evacuation valve to
14 condenser
15 Ensure LP heaters are lined up for charging
Ensure HP / LP bypass is in service ( Opened>55% and in auto) and 3rd
16 stage spray is in service.
Ensure that startup steam parameters are achieved as follows
(a) For Cold start (i.e. if HP and IP casing Metal temperature < 305
0
C).

MS pressure 8.74MPa and HRH pr. 1.1 MPa, temperature ~380 & 330 deg C
(b) For Warm start (i.e. if HP & IP casing Metal temperature >305
and<4200C).
MS pressure 8.74MPa and HRH pressure1.1 MPa, temperature 410 and
17 380deg C
(c) For Hot start (i.e. if HP & IP casing Metal temperature >420 and
<4900C ).

MS pressure 10.0MPa and HRH pressure1.1 MPa, temperature 480 and 450
deg C
(d) For Extreme hot start (i.e. if HP & IP casing Metal temperature
>4900C).
MS pressure 10.0MPa and HRH pressure1.1 MPa, temperature 520 and 510
deg C
Ensure Main steam and Reheat steam temperature should be 50 degC

higher than MSVs and RSV s body temperatures respectively.
19 Reset , Latch and roll the turbine as per the given procedure .
(a) "Select Start Mode: IP start" on DEH-Autocontrol screen.
(b) Select 'Reset' ---- 'Latch',Select 'Run'
(c) Ensure MSV-1&2, RSV-1&2 opening
(d) Select 'Target - 200rpm' and select 'acceleration rate' as '30 rpm/min'
and select 'GO'
(e) Ensure CRV1 and CRV2 are opening.
(f) Ensure disengaging of barring gear motor(At speed>6 rpm).
For friction check:
1. Select "Friction check" - 'IN' at 200 rpm.
2. Ensure CRV1 and CRV2 closes and speed reduces.
3. Observe for any abnormal sounds from local during coasting down and
report.
4. After friction check, make 'friction check - OUT'. Ensure speed regain to
its target speed and ensure CRV1, CRV2 opening.
For heat soak, select 'Heat soak - IN'

1. Select Target Speed as 1500rpm with accleration rate of 100rpm/min.


Ensure all HPCVs opens to ~12% to warm up the HP casing .
2. Ensure speed is rising and reaches to target value
3. After heat soaking at 1500rpm, make 'Heat soak - OUT' at >320deg.C of
HP/IP casing inner metal temperature.
4. After Heat soak -OUT, ensure HPCVs close.
5. During cold startup , Heat soaking will be 4 hrs after reaching the 1500
rpm speed.
6. Select Target speed as 3000 rpm with acceleration as 100 rpm/min and
'GO'
(Acceleration rate will be 100 rpm for cold start, 150rpm for warm start
and 300rpm for Hot strat.)
7. Ensure AC-JOP got stopped at speed >2100 rpm.
8. Ensure speed rising to target speed.The soaking time will be approx
90min for extreme cold start.
20 Charge LP heaters.
Ensure and Close Bus side & Bay side isolators depending upon S/Y

configuration
Ensure MOP discharge pressure has build up and Stop AC TOP and

MSP(>2900rpm) and select to interlock..
Control Lube oil temperature with CCCW control valve at PHE outlet. Keep

Gen Coolers oulet CCCW CV in auto with 40Deg.C set point.
Observe TG vibrations and note down the peak values.Notedown TSI

readings.
25 Synchronisation Procedure:
a. Select --- 'Electrical' - GT-5 screen.
b. Select 'logic3' and ensure 'No prohibition on start-up condition'.
c. select "#5 Gen.Excitation com------ Start" and ensure voltage is rised up
to ~21 KV
d. Select 'logic1' and ensure 'No prohibition of operation'.
e. Select Excitation increase button and increase the Generator voltage to
22KV.
f. Select 'DEH ------> Auto Synch --- IN'
g. Select the breaker 4010CB or 4011CB.( ensure 4012CB is closed for
closing 4010CB)
h. Select Synch close to open 4010CB syn (Window).
i. Ensure 'No prohibition of operation'.
j. Select #5 GT 400KV side 4010CB sync device working.
k. select all the synck permissives satisified ( 3 nos)
l. Select '4010CB syn close ----> Ack'
m. select '#5 GT syn device start'
n. Ensure #5 GT close signal.
o. select '#5 GT 400KV side 4010 CB syn out of working'.
p. For closing 4011CB:
a. Select Synch close to open 4011CB syn (Window)
b. Ensure 'No prohibition of operation'.
c. Select #5 GT 400KV side 4011CB sync device working.
d. Select all the synck permissives satisified ( 3 nos)
e. Select '4011CB syn close ----> Ack'
f. select '#5 GT syn device start'
g.Ensure #5 GT close signal.
h. select '#5 GT 400KV side 4011 CB syn out of working'
After synchronisation Unit initial load will be around 30MW and Load control
26 will be 'OUT', TP control will be OUT. Unit load reference will be in "%" and
~8%
Increase the Generation by giving target in % at Loat target. At 50-60MW
27 load the reference will be ~18%
28 At ~ 70MW HP CVs will start opening . ( After IPCV fullopen)
At above14% of HPCV , ensure opening of CRH NRV and closure of BDV

and VV
Gradually close HP bypass pressure control valve and ensure LPBP control

valve closes in auto.
Increase the oil guns and increase the load gradually.At 80MW load , the

reference will be ~40%.
32 Ensure all drains are closed in auto >80MW load.
33 Ensure all extraction drains are closed in auto >140MW load.
34 Charge HP heaters at around 150MW load.
Charge Both unit 6.6 Kv bus from UAT as per the procedure at ~150MW

stable operation.
36 Charge Auxilary header from fourth extraction at >480MW load.
37 Turbine self gland sealing starts at ~500MW load.
38 Ensure from local for no leakages in lube oil and EH oilsystems.
39 Ensure TOP, EOP, MSP and all stand by equipment are selected to auto.
