    Leica Geosystems - System 1200 Format File Upload & Use

    The following operating procedure is used to transfer a Format File to a


    System 1200 instrument and then use it to download and convert data.

    Stage 1: Format File Upload

    Copy the Format File files to the Convert


    directory on the Compact Flash [CF] card.

    Note: Format Files are identified by the extension .frt.

    Transfer the Compact Flash card from your computer to the System 1200 sensor.

    The Compact Flash card must always be “Stopped” before removing it from your computer. The
    System 1200 sensor must always be switched off before removing the Compact Flash.

    On the TPS Select option 6 Tools… from the


    Main Menu.

    This option can be selected by pressing the number 6


    key, or by navigating to 6 Tools... and pressing the
    Enter key, or by touching the Tools… icon when using
    an active touch screen.

    Select option 2 Transfer Objects… from the


    Tools Menu.

    Select option 6 Format Files from the Transfer


    Objects Menu.

    Select the Format File you wish to transfer,


    From the CF Card, To the System RAM, in the
    Transfer Format Files screen and press CONT
    [F1].

    A warning message will be displayed if you are replacing


    a Format File with the same name.

    The Format File upload will be complete and the instrument will return to the
    Main Menu.

    Stage 2: Exporting Data from Job

    To begin select menu select option 4 Convert from the Main Menu.

    Select option 1 Export Data from Job from the


    Convert Data Menu.

    On Export Data from Job screen;


    • Select the job to be exported.
    • Choose where the data is to be exported.
    (select CF Card and the Data Folder)
    • Pick the Format File.
    (select the one which has just been loaded)
    • Type name of the file to be created.
    (pick the file name and an extension)
    (i.e. if it is a comma delimited file name it
    “jobname.CSV”)
    Once the file has been set up press FILT [F4].

    The Sorts & Filters menu will be displayed;

    On this screen ensure that the sort is set to


    Forward Time and that there is No Filter.

    With the filter options set press CONT [F1].

    The screen will return to the Export Data from


    Job menu. All the settings will be as selected
    previously.

    With the options set press CONT [F1].

    The Export will process and prompt will be


    displayed asking if more data is to be exported,
    select NO to be returned to the Main Menu.

    Now the file will have been transferred to the CF card (in its Data folder),
    to view this card on a computer, transfer the card from the instrument to
    the PC and then navigate to the card and its data folder.
