Type 357 Control Valves

Type 357 control valves (see figures 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6)
meet high-pressure on-off and throttling requirements,
particularly in the oil industry. The control valves are
well suited as dump valves or back-pressure control
valves on oil and gas separators, scrubbers, and other
field process equipment. They are also ideal for well-
head applications where rugged steel construction and
easy maintenance are necessary. These control
valves are available with screwed or flanged end con-
nections.

If the control valve requires maintenance, the trim can

be exposed by removing the patented deep-bore ham-
mer nut and lifting the actuator/bonnet assembly off
the valve without disassembling the actuator.

Features
D Safer Bonnet/Valve Body Connection—Unique
design provides additional protection if disassembly of
bonnet/valve body connection is started and there is
still pressure in the valve body.

D Extra Thread Engagement of Hammer Nut and

Valve Body—If disassembly has been started and
pressure is being released, there is still extra thread
engagement between the valve body and the hammer
nut to keep the valve pressure from blowing off the
bonnet (see figure 4).

D Integral Bonnet Flange—Bonnet has an integral

flange that accepts hammer nut force when making
bonnet-to-body connection. There are no snap rings to W5810-1 IL

fail in sour service or in atmospheric corrosion (see

figure 4).
Figure 1. Type 357 Control Valve
D Standard Trim for Throttling or On-Off Ser-
vice—Micro-Form trim is standard for throttling or on-
off service at no extra cost. D Easy Installation—Compact design and light
weight allow installation in limited space with minimum
D Ultra-Hard Trim Available—Optional VTC (ce- labor.
ramic) trim is available for very erosive applications. (continued on page 3)
