SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION GRADE III

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson the pupils are able to:
a. describe the proper body mechanics while standing;
b. give the importance of each body parts to form body shapes and action by
engaging fun and enjoyable activity; and,
c. move the body properly in response to a command or signals.

II. SUBJECT MATTER: Body Shapes and Action (standing)

IV. ACTIVITIES
A. WARM UP
(The teacher will lead a simple exercise to the class)
1. Jog in place (8 counts) walk in place (8 counts)
2. Breathing exercise (10 counts)
3. Head bend
4. Head twist
5. Shoulder circle

A. LESSON PROPER
1. Introduced and Motivation
(the teacher will introduce the subject matter “BODY SHAPES AND
ACTION” as well as ask the pupils to get ready for the funny activity)

Name of the activity: POPCORN


Direction: Tell the pupils to do the following as you say:
A. POP- Stand with the arms upward;
B. CORN- stand with arms sideward;
C. PAPARA- Stand with arms on side;
D. PAPAP- Side lunge

(The teacher may vary the sequence of the words alternately)


After the activity the teacher will ask the following questions
 What actions did you perform?
 What parts of your body did you move?
 How did you do it?

2. SKILL LEARNING PRACTICES


(The teacher will give another activity)
Name o0f the activity: MIRROR REVISION ON THE WALL
(The teacher will demonstrate the hand and feet movements and the pupils
will follow). Ask the pupils to get partner. Together they will follow the action
as if one is the reflection of the other.

Ask the following questions:


 What can you say about the movement?
 What different shapes were formed with bodies?
 Can you describe the different position?
 What body parts were used to form the shapes?
 Can you do it?

Our bodies can perform different shapes and lines such as straight,
curved and twisted, it can also show different shapes and actions. If you
move your body and form shapes in many ways, you will enjoy
exercising. Cooperation, self-discipline and initiative are important in
doing varied activities.

3. ACTIVITY (Description or instruction)

Another fun an activity the “MERRY GO-ROUND”


Using the based-method, the teacher will divide the class into 4 groups.
Ask them to form the shapes assigned in each based. They should have
form the shapes at the end of the song (MERRY HAD A LITTLE LAMB) and
move to the next base using the prescribe locomotor movement.

Station 1- form a circle shape with arms upward.


Station 2- form a square shape with arms sideward.
Station 3- form a triangle with arms in front.
Station 4- form a diamond shape with arms in front.
B. QUIETING ACTIVITY
Follow the leader
Direction: The teacher may use a whistle, clap or alter the signals so that pupils
can develop alertness.
The teacher blows a whistle.

Once ………. pupils stand with feet together.


Twice………. pupils do stride stand (stand with feet apart)
Thrice………. pupils do side lunge position

(The teacher will correct pupils posture problem)
