rich Goulburn Valley, one of Australia’s largest fruit vegetable
and agricultural areas.
Today edp is one of only a few remaining Australian
Manufactures specialising in the manufacture of fresh hard
produce grading and handling equipment, with over seventy
years’ experience in manufacturing edp has gained a wealth
of knowledge and experience which is on offer to its customers.
The Company has an extensive Manufacturing facility
incorporating the latest digital CNC machinery, a large
service and store section stocking a full range of parts and
consumables used in the fresh produce industry.
edp has strong ties with European equipment and
consumable suppliers, stocking an extensive range packaging
consumables and machinery in stock for immediate delivery.
The Company has a well-established export market in North
America and various other markets in Asia and the oceanic

The edp Polybagger is a tried and proven
bagger, used for the packaging of 2kg
to 6kg plastic wicketed bags with produce
and or components automatically.
The bagger is compatible with all
combination weighers such as Daumar,
Newtec, Bottazzi, Sorma, Manter and Giro.
The speed of the bagger depends
on the counting or weighing machine
but is capable of up to 25 bags per
minute depending on size and product.
The support belt is raised and lowered
(electrically) to suit different bag dimensions.
The bag and product is completely
supported throughout the filling

Engineering Overview: Weighers
edp was the first company in Australia to introduce fully automatic prepacking
equipment into the local fresh fruit and vegetable industry. The introduction
of the AG PAK™ automatic bagging filling and sealing machine in the mid-1970s
was the beginning of the revolution which changed the way the industry prepacked
fresh produce. Using manual weighing tilt pans it was a slow labour intense
operation bagging potatoes and onions into 2 kg and 5kg bags. The AG PAK™
changed all of that, for the first time a completely automatic machine would
weigh the product, open a wicketed bag, fill it, then seal the bag with a twist
tie closure, not the fastest machine by todays standards but it was automatic.
By the mid 1980s edp developed the edpLYNX® COMBINATION WEIGHING
MACHINE one of only two or possibly three machine manufactures in the world
to develop this technology. For the next fifteen or so years these machines were
exported around the world with hundreds of units manufactured and installed
in Australia, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, New Zealand
and throughout many parts of Asia.
Today, due to globalization of our industry and the vast experience edp has
gained in weighing equipment over the years, edp now offers the most diverse
range of fresh fruit and vegetable weighing and packaging machinery
available in the world.

Engineering Overview: Bulk Handling
edp was the first company in Australia to develop bulk handling equipment,
this was back in the 1950’s. edp first designed a gravity bin tipper (patented)
for the tipping of half tonne wooden bins of fruit, replacing the old timber lug
boxes, this was then quickly expanded to include hydraulic half tonne bin
tipping for the local canneries, Ardmona, SPC, Kyabram Cannery, Heinz Foods
in Dandenong as well as numerous other installations.
Over the many years since it’s introduction into Australia, major developments
have occurred in bulk bin handling equipment, fully automatic bin unstacking,
tipping, washing and restacking.
Today edp offers many options in Bin Tipping equipment from a standard range
through to custom one–off designs.

seventy years. The company offers a custom design service to develop a
layout that suits the end need.
Vegetable Grading is a specialized operation which requires the correct
equipment to handle the product gently, but also carry out the required
42 process needed to create a first class saleable product.
The components in an edp grading line are made inhouse, however,

if a specialised piece of equipment is required in the layout edp will source this
from outside suppliers and build it into the line.
This ensures the complete turnkey project is installed and is fully operational
in less than a week.

4.1 Palletizing Equipment
These machines offer a high capacity and consistency in performance.

The pallet in and out feed are automated to create a continuous process. Bags
are fed in using conveyor belts and/or bag lift. The four sided closed stacking bin
& the formation doors permit precise & stable palletizing also of smaller bags.
The machines feature automatic pallet conveyors and a telescopic (sectional) in feed
belt. Use of servo motors permits higher manipulator speeds.

Wineglass labels
The wineglass label is a composite of polypropylene and
thermal paper and specially designed for clipped net
packaging. Wineglass labels are cold chain compatible,
100% recyclable and available in various sizes to suit all
manufacturers net clipping machines.
The narrow upper part of the label is used to clip to the net
using clipping wire, the wider part of the label is used for pre-
printed product information. The reverse thermal paper side
can be printed during the packing process with
any information required.

supply totally plain or generic wineglass labels
from our stock.
Adhesive Labels
Wide range of adhesive labels for all the different thermal welded
