previous lesson or Before starting the lesson, the teacher will have a recap of the
presenting the new previous lesson from the third quarter. The teacher will ask this
lesson question first.
STUDENT’S RESPONSE:
We discuss about topics for speech writing ma’am.
TEACHER:
Okay very good and what are the topics for speech?
STUDENT’S RESPONSE:
Persuasive, Informative and Argumentative, ma’am.
TEACHER:
Correct. And now what is persuasive?

STUDENT’S RESPONSE:
To convince someone to believe or do something, ma’am.
TEACHER:
Yes you are right, Regencia. How about argumentative and
informative?
STUDENT’S RESPONSE:
Writing that uses factual evidence and logical support to
convince the reader of a certain way of thinking, ma’am. And
informative ma’am is like giving information ma’am.
TEACHER:
Okay . Okay thank you very much. So who can give me an
example of these three topic for speech writing?
STUDENT’S RESPONSE:
In informative ma’am is news reporting ma’am, and in
persuasive is advertising and lastly the argumentative ma’am is
like debating.
TEACHER:
Thank you everyone for your answer. I believe that all of you
really understand our previous topic. So, let’s proceed to our
activity today.
C. Establishing a ENGAGE
purpose for the
lesson For this activity, the teacher will play a song entitled “Tears in Heaven”
by Eric Clapton. The teacher will ask some students what they think
about the song.
TEACHER:
Are you familiar with this song?
STUDENT’S RESPONSE:
Yes ma’am.
Dili kaayo ma’am.
TEACHER:
Okay. I want everybody to listen, sing along, and feel the song
because, right after that, I’ll call somebody to know what are their
thoughts about the song.
TEACHER:
What do you think is the message of the song?
STUDENT’S RESPONSE:
A message to someone who passed away, ma’am.
TEACHER:
Do you know what’s the story behind this song?
STUDENT’S RESPONSE:
No ma’am.
TEACHER:
Okay, this song is actually dedicated to his four-year old son
Conor, who was accidentally falling from a 54-story apartment.
That was tragic, right? He mourned for the loss of his son, and
so he wrote this song for Conor. That is why if you listen to this
song you will also feel the agony of Eric of losing someone,
right?
STUDENT’S RESPONSE:
Yes ma’am.

EXPLORE
TEACHER:
It’s very sad and heartbreaking if one of our family or even our
pets will die right? Who among you here experience losing their
pets?
STUDENT’S RESPONSE:
Me ma’am.
TEACHER:
Okay. Is it okay with you to share your experience with us
about your pet who died?
TEACHER:
Yes. I was wrecked and in mourning, and I feel lost to the point
that I feel that my soul has died too. It feels like my world has
turned dark. But so much for that let’s now proceed to our
discussion.
STUDENT’S RESPONSE:
Yes ma’am.
TEACHER:
And what do you think that kind of speech called? Anybody?

STUDENT’S RESPONSE:
Eulogy ma’am.
TEACHER:
Yes. Very good that speech during burial is called eulogy. So
today open your book on page 294. Kindly read the message of
Delma B. Diquino to her pet Papoy. I will give you 5 minutes to
read the text.
TEACHER:
Okay time is up! What do you notice of the text?
STUDENT’S RESPONSE:
She wrote their times when her pet is still with her ma’am. And
she also write their good times together and how important is
her pet to her.
TEACHER:
Very good observation. That’s right. When we deliver a eulogy
we have to include or good or bad times with them, our
moments with them and how important they are to us right?
STUDENT’S RESPONSE:
Yes ma’am.
STUDENT’S RESPONSE:
In this life full of uncertainties, I believe that death is the
only certain. I was mesmerized how life is indeed
wonderful. What do you want to be remembered for? The
kind of question that left me in deep thought for hours
before writing this. It is actually something that has
strangely been on my mind a lot lately. So what do I want to
be remembered for? Well, a lot of things came to mind –
some superficial, some pretty deep. But as I thought and
thought and thought some more, there were really only two
things that kept popping up. To be kind and compassionate.
STUDENT’S RESPONSE:
There isn’t a day that you don’t cross my mind. Some days you’re just
my mom who got cancer, fought so hard to live, but died before I was
able to know everything about you. Then there are days that your
voice is all I hear. It’s my voice. Your laugh? It’s mine too.
Mom:
It’s been 5,000 days since you left us. But, who’s counting?
There isn’t a day that you don’t cross my mind. Some days you’re just
my mom who got cancer, fought so hard to live, but died before I was
able to know everything about you. Then there are days that your
voice is all I hear. It’s my voice. Your laugh? It’s mine too. I hear it in
the morning when I’m snuggling your grand babies. In the afternoon,
when the day has been long, your voice of frustrations and exhaustion
are On Nani and not only somine. But at night, when I lay my head to
sleep, your voice is what calms me. I replay our last conversations in
my head. I miss your voice, mom.
It’s been 714 weeks since you left us. But, who’s counting?
After you were gone I would see you everywhere. I swear I once saw
you walking though campus when I was in college. I followed you until
you disappeared. I sat outside my dorm every day for the next week
waiting for you to pass again. You didn’t. A few years later I worked
with a woman who had your hands. I told her that those were your
hands. And she let me hold them for a bit. It was nice to hold your
hand again.
It’s been 164 months since you left us. But, who’s counting?
In those years I’ve grown from a 21-year-old college student who had
no idea how to move on after her mother died to a 35-year-old wife
and mother who created a way to live without you. It seems I’ve lived
two lives – with you and without. I had an amazing childhood thanks to
you. You gave me so many happy memories. When you died I had so
many regrets, though. Those sorrows haunted me for so long. I lost
myself. My life was so hard without you.
In a perfect world you would be here with us. You’d be spending you
weekends spoiling your FIVE grandchildren. You would be helping
pick pumpkins instead of us picking flowers to freshen your grave. But
life isn’t perfect. I would give anything to have breast cancer never
even be a part of our lives. But is was. It is Everything happens for a
reason, right? All those wrong turns led me here, mom. I imagine you
in Heaven silently leading me down the right road. There were an
abundance of bumps along the way, but I fought my way over them
and made it though. I’ve finally made it, mom. I am beyond happy.
