exchange rate, oil price increases, unemployment, peace and order, etc. on the

Unemployment
➢ The state of being unemployed.
➢ Defined by the Bureau of Labor Statistics as people who do not have a job, have
actively looked for work in the past four weeks, and are currently available for
work. Also people temporarily laid off and were waiting to be called back to that
job are included in the unemployment statistics.
Causes of unemployment:
➢ Discrimination – unequal treatment for someone specifically because of color,
religion, age and way of living.
➢ Lack of education (Illiteracy)- the condition of being unable to read or write.
➢ Laid-off – being discharged due to law rate of budget of a certain company.

Effect of unemployment:
➢ Poverty- loss of money or loss of power to buy/have goods and services.
➢ Low rate of economy- as a result the economic power were going down, the
shortage series made our country lost in line.
➢ Expanding divisions in society- increasing the discrimination level on the
community.
➢ Increasing illiteracy rate- cause by unavailable fund, lack of money, and services.
➢ Crime rate level increase- an effect of illiteracy, crime is one of the most popular
effect of unemployment nowadays. Examples of this are snatching, smuggling,
murder, kidnapping, drugs business and etc.

Role play: the students will be group into four (4).


Every group will role play on the different scenario on the causes and effect of
unemployment.
