LP-BC-Q3L1-Illustrating The Limit of A Function Using A Table of Values and The Graph of The Function

This document contains a daily lesson plan for a Grade 11 Basic Calculus class covering limits of algebraic functions using tables and graphs. The lesson objectives are for students to illustrate limits of functions using tables and graphs, and to distinguish between limx→c f(x) and f(c). The lesson will begin with a review of previous algebra topics. Students will then evaluate sample functions and plot the results. The teacher will introduce the concepts of limits and continuity through examples and visual aids. Formative assessment will involve students completing practice problems and a short quiz. The closing will discuss interpreting limits values and graph behaviors.

Daily Lesson Plan Teacher Denis Louie C. Ragragio Department Head Evelyn M. Palapar
I. OBJECTIVES
The learners demonstrate understanding of the:
A. Content Standards a. the basic concepts of limit and continuity of a function.
B. Performance
Formulate and solve accurately real-life problems involving continuity of functions.
Standards
C. Learning The learners should be able to:
Competencies/ 1. illustrate the limit of a function using a table of values and the graph of the
LC:
function; and
Objectives 2. distinguish between limx→c f(x) and f(c).
Write the LC code
for each LC Code: STEM_BC11LC-IIIa-1 and STEM_BC11LC-IIIa-2
II. CONTENT Limits of Algebraic Functions using Tables and Graphs

IV. PROCEDURES
 Greetings
A. Preparatory Activities  Classroom Management
(Daily Routine)  Checking of Attendance

B. Review of the previous The teacher will discuss overview of previous topics regarding Algebra and how to plot points in a
lesson cartesian plane to illustrate graphs of a function.
The teacher will flash a slide showing a function where the students will be asked to evaluate the
said function at different values of x. Afterwards, students will be asked to plot the x-values
C. Motivation together with the y-values determined by substituting the values of x to the indicated function. See
page 3 of the reference module.

D. Lesson Proper
The teacher will discuss the subject proper “Basic Calculus” and overview of what topics will be
covered. Then, the discussion will proceed to showing the content title and discuss the learning
INTRODUCTION competencies.

A powerpoint presentation showing the meaning of the statement “Limit of a Function” will be
shown together with how limit of function is evaluated from the left and right of a constant and
making a table for it. Next, a corresponding graph will also be shown to enable learners see the
written function and how it appears when a limit is present or not. A set of examples will also be
given. See pages 4 to 8 of the module for reference.

DEVELOPMENT
Additional slides will also be shown to distinguish the difference between lim f (x ) and f(c).
x →c
Showing the difference by definition and also by illustration. Where f(c) is simply substituting
constant value of x to the equation of the function to determine the f(c) or y-value while the
lim f (x ) is determining whether the limit of a function exist given a point along x.
x →c
The teacher will flash on the screen a table that the students will write on their quiz notebooks and
fill in the computed value of f(x). Afterwards, they will need to draw the graph of the said function.

Directions: Read and answer the following items.

ENGAGEMENT

For the assessment, a short quiz will be given. Part 1 will be evaluation of limits. Part 2 is analyzing
statements whether it is True or False. Part 3 will include determination of limits by observing a
ASSIMILATION graph of a function. See pages 11 to 12 of the module for reference.

The teacher will asked the following questions as part of the final analysis:
1. In evaluating a limit, what does it mean to have answer of DNE or Does Not Exist?
E. Closing
2. In a graph, what does it mean if the line does not meet in a specific value of x?

V. REMARKS

VI. REFLECTION
A. No. of learners who
earned 80% in the
evaluation
B. No. of learners who
require additional
activities for
remediation
C. Did the remedial
lessons work? No. of
learners who have
caught up with the
lesson
D. No. of learners who
continue to require
remediation
E. Which of my teaching
strategies worked well?

principal or supervisor
can help me solve?
G. What innovation or
localized materials did I
use/discover which I
