At the end of the lesson, the pupils will be able to:

1. Know what is Timbre

2. Perform in a group using their knowledge about Timbre

3. Develop cooperation in a group activity

Today we will be tackling about timbre, does


anyone know what is timbre?

Teacher, the timbre is the unique quality of
the sound that a musical instrument makes.

Very good!

Timbre (pronounced TAM-BER)


is a French word that means “tone colour”
or tone quality.

Timbre is what makes a particular musical


sound different form another, even when
they have the same pitch and loudness.

Timbre helps you distinguish one type of


sound from another sound.

The three types of timbre

Hamonic - Aconcert where all the musicians


are playing their instruments in the same
rhythm.

Polyphonic - In this case, independent


musical parts overlap.

Monophonic - In this scene, a single


musical line is played.

Types of Vocal Timbre

Soprano - The highest female voice type.

Mezzo - Second highest female voice type.


Alto - A lower female voice rather than a
specific vocal category.

Tenor - The highest male voice type you will


find in typical choir.

D. Application

Okay class, now we are going to have a


group activity. This will be called “Sound
Scavenger Hunt”. I will be grouping you into
3 groups. Each group will provide a objects
that is producing a unique sounds. After you
planning you will be presenting it in front.

group activity.

First, be responsible dont let your


groupmates do all the work you need to
cooperate and minimize you voice we are
not the only one who is having a discussion.
