CHAPTER V

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

Summary

This study was conducted to determine, analyze and interpret the

level of work performance and work commitment among government

internship program (GIP) beneficiaries in relation to the work opportunity

among GIP beneficiaries from batch 2018-2019. Descriptive correlational

method was used in this study with enumeration sample design with

ninety nine (99) GIP beneficiaries in Malita, Davao Occidental. A modified

questionnaire was used in gathering data. Percentage, mean, spearman

correlation were used in data analysis.

It was ascertained from the study that some of the respondents

were already absorbed in different national government agencies, local

government units as job order/contractual, who were in college graduates

and no eligibility documents.

Regarding with the level of work performance, the result showed

that the duties and functions got the highest mean score of 3.78 which

means the beneficiary is performing well. Also, in terms of work

commitment specifically affective commitment got the highest mean score

of 3.80 which means the beneficiary has high work commitment. The level

of work opportunity got the overall mean score of 4.30 which means the

beneficiary has high work opportunity.

The Work Performance were not significant relationship on work

opportunity having a correlation coefficient of -0.059 with a description of

Low Negative Correlation and a p - value of 0.560. Also the Work

Commitment anticipate the work opportunity with not significant value of -

0.067 less than the 0.05 level of significance.

Conclusion

Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions are

conceived.

In terms of duties and functions, the manager or the head of office

should give a task that is under the scope or capacity of GIP so that they

can continue to perform well.

Managers may develop a technique to inspire beneficiaries to do

their job well such as performance and commitment, which may motivate

them to pursue on having work opportunity.

Managers may continue to motivate their beneficiaries through with

having a positive impact on them, to develop more skills and knowledge,

to inspire them to give importance of GIP in our community, to commit, to

perform, to love their work as a pathway on happy career and given a

chance to have work opportunity.

Other conceptualization for managers to motivate their

beneficiaries include duties and functions, dependability, skills

enhancement, communication, affective commitment, continuance

commitment and normative commitment. As a result their work

opportunity may modify, the benefit all to the company.

Moreover, the government should always seek for a programs that

would encourage GIP’s to work well and be committed to their respective

task.

Recommendation

The following recommendations were formulated based on the

findings of the study.

1. Government Internship Program (GIP) Beneficiaries. They may

engage themselves to work performance and work commitment in order

to enhance their skills and further their knowledge in their future

employment. In this way, their job will be improved leading effect of

having a good opportunities. Helps them to receive good financial

earnings in their first job and also learn required skills acquired for their

professional success.

2. Partner Agencies. They may motivate the beneficiaries to do their

tasked that was given as directly contribute to the goal of inclusive

growth through massive employment generation and significant poverty

reduction and greatly to the productivity of the company or organization

hosting them.

3. Coordinators and Implementers. They may government internship

program (GIP) must encourage beneficiaries to do their job well, be

respectful, responsible and accountable. Involve themselves to the real

world of the government and to be a good public servant . They may

recruiting and selecting qualified beneficiaries through background

checking, screening and interview. Must manage and supervise the

implementation of the program and the extension of duration of the

contract.

4. Future Researchers. The same study may be conducted but

increasing the coverage and adding more variables that may affect the

beneficiaries work opportunity. Yearly renewal of the GIP beneficiaries

in order to know the improvement of the beneficiaries and to plan

actions based on the results gathered.
