frequency.
Each group member contributes one sentence using a specific adverb (always,
usually, sometimes, rarely, never, occasionally).
Emphasis on grammatical correctness and proper use of adverbs.
C. Analysis
The teacher will ask the following questions:
o What was the type of adverb did we use to describe the how often an action is
done?
o How do these words enhance clarity in communication or in writing?
o Where have you encountered these words in a conversation?
- In sentences with a single main verb (other than "to be"), adverbs of frequency are usually
placed before the verb. For example:
- After the Verb "To Be": When the verb "to be" (am, is, are, was, were) is the main verb, the
adverb of frequency comes after it. For example:
- At the Beginning or End of the Sentence: In some cases, especially for emphasis or clarity,
adverbs of frequency can be placed at the beginning or end of a sentence. However, this is less
common and is usually used in more formal or written contexts. For example:
Definite Adverbs of Frequency: These adverbs provide a specific frequency or time frame.
Examples include daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, once, twice, etc. They clearly state how often an
action occurs.
Example: "She exercises daily."
Indefinite Adverbs of Frequency: These adverbs do not specify an exact time frame but give a
general idea of how often an action happens. Examples include always, usually, often, sometimes,
rarely, never, etc.
F. Valuing
What is the importance of utilizing adverb of frequency in sentences?
Adverbs of frequency are important in English, specifically in sentences
because they help provide more specific information about how often an action
occurs. Their placement in a sentence can change its meaning or emphasis,
making it crucial to use them correctly.
Each group will receive a set of task cards with activities related to adverbs of frequency.
- The cards are color-coded to represent different difficulty levels.
- Groups should complete as many tasks as they can in 15 minutes, choosing cards that match
their comfort level.
- Encourage students to challenge themselves but also to ensure understanding before moving to
higher levels.
5. In the remaining 5 minutes, facilitate a brief class discussion about their experiences and key
learnings.
