NOISE ABATEMENT PROCEDURES

Turbo-prop aircraft must line up on the northeast side of the main apron.
For engine start-up, jet aircraft occupying the jetway will be towed off to the
northeast side of the main apron as indicated by ATC and verified by the aerodrome
Inspector. Afterwards, ATC may give clearance for engine start-up.
Aircraft Air Start Unit operation is prohibited from the jetways in the gate area.
The ground support equipment is allowed for starting jet engines at the parking stands
located on the northeast side of the main apron. However, if any Auxiliary Power Unit
problem arises, pilots should use the minimum power in the parking stand to subsequently
be towed off.
The Control Tower will allow ground run-up for aircraft in Zulu spot, located 300 meters
from runway threshold 21, at the time ATC sets according to the amount of
operations being carried out.
It is prohibited to perform run-ups at the jetway in the gate area.
The use of APU at the jetway in the gate area is authorized for a maximum period of
5 minutes as follows:
Departing aircraft, only through the necessary time to begin towing and subsequent
run-up, prior ATC clearance.
Arriving aircraft, in the assigned parking position while the air start unit or the
jetway is connected.
If an air operator for any reason requires longer APU operation while docking,
such authorization will be granted for no more than 15 minutes.

Air operators are responsible for:


Developing awareness programs for airlines staff and crew with the aim of
understanding broadly the incidence and consequences of aircraft noise.
Recognize the established noise abatement procedures.
Publish instructions in their manuals intending to lessen the noise incidence in the
airport environment.
Aircraft may turn on the auxiliary power unit (APU) for a maximum period of 5 minutes.
When a longer time is required, ATC may authorize a maximum period of 15 minutes;
the crew must inform such situation to ATC and the Aerodrome inspector
for the allocation of a suitable parking stand.

Aircraft having APU operational issues, while parked in the parking stand, may start
a single engine at minimum power followed by the towing procedure. The crew must
inform ATC and the Aerodrome Inspector about this condition prior to apron
access for the allocation of a suitable parking stand.

Aircraft Air Start Unit operation is prohibited from the jetways in the gate area.
It is prohibited to carry out any functional run-up in the respective parking stands.
If it is necessary for strict technical urgency, location must be previously arranged
with ATC and Aerodrome Inspector.
