    Titjhere: Buka ya hao e kae?

    Disebo: E setse hae, titjhere. Ka nnete ke e lebetse hodima tafole.

    Titjhere: O tlo bala jwang buka e le siyo?

    Disebo: Ke kopa ho tla le yona hosane. Ke tla bala haholo ha ke fihla ka tlung.

    Titjhere: Wena Thabang o tlo bala le mang?

    The Adverb

    • An adverb describes a verb.


    • It is a word that gives us more information about a verb, phrases or
    whole sentences in order to make their meaning more accurate.
    • There are THREE types of adverbs-Mefuta ya mahlalosi
     Lehlalosi la mokgwa-The adverb of manner that answers the question:
    How?
     Lehlalosi la nako-the adverb of time which answers the question:
    (When?).
     Lehlalosi la sebaka-The adverb of place which answers the question:
    (Where?).

    Formation of adverbs: Adverb of
    place

     Some adverbs are complete words that do not need any


    addition of suffixes.
    • O dula kae?
    • Lebitso la hao o mang?
    • O fihlile neng?
    • O tsamaile jwang?
    • O fihlile hantle.

     Proper nouns can also be used as adverbs


     Thabo o dula Maseru
     Disebo o kena sekolo Wits
     Mpho o tswa Limpopo

     The suffix “ng” is added to nouns to form adverbs.


     The ‘newly’ formed word becomes the adverb of place.
     Sekolo-Sekolong
     Setulo-setulong
     The morpheme “ho” or “ha” is added to the noun
     Malome-ho malome
     Thabo-ho Thabo
    Ke tswa ho Thabo.
    Ke tswa ha Thabo

     (Maemedi) Pronouns can be used to form adverbs of place.


     Refilwe o ile ho bona
     Banna ba mathela tsona
     Basadi ba ile ho yena

    Adverbs of time

     Some nouns can work as adverbs of time


     Re tsamaya motsheare
     Ke bala bosiu.
     Some nouns take the morphemes to become adverbs of time
     “Ka” can be added to the noun
    Mantaha-Ke fihlile ka Mantaha
     “-ng” can be added to the noun
    O fihlile kgweding e fetileng.
