Qualitative Ethology
Describe the characteristics of the research that provide evidence that either an ethnographic or case
study approach was used.
The study of ethnography is based on learning and understanding a specific group and investigating a
particular problem that they maybe facing (Capella University, 2017a). Within the qualitative
ethnographic study of Shepard (2013), the author really takes a look at a organizational group of
workers and the stress that they experience within this field. For example, Shepard (2013) looks at
health care, harm reduction, and human services workers and the traumatic stress that they experience
working with the pain and struggles of their clients. Within the human services field, workers can deal
worth homelessness, drug uses, and people diagnosed with terminal illnesses. Shepard (2013) uses this
study to review the lives of these types of workers who have died due to the stress and poses the
question of How we can create a culture of wellness, pleasure, care, and support in the fields of harm
reduction and human services. (p. 3).
Identify the key phenomena under investigation.
The phenomena under investigation is the range of stress that harm reduction, health care, and human
services workers deal with on a day to day basis within the field of their work. For instance, Shepard
(2013) reviews the various types of stress, such as post traumatic stress, vicarious stress, and burnout.

The Positive And Negative Aspects Of Stereotypes
What are stereotypes? Can they hurt people?Or even help someone?Well stereotypes are
generalizations that everyone puts any given group of people under, now saying this from personal
experience i find that there may be both positive and negative effects of others doing this. The ways i
have experienced stereotypes range from my own parents to random people like teachers and peers,
what i got the most was that I was childish and immature from mostly my Dad and that typical teenage
boy from my teachers also even i told myself i was more mature than the peers around me.
Most people Spend seventeen years in school, I can honestly say a little less than half of that was
spent dealing with teachers with the assumptions of a typical teenage boy. I remember my sixth grade
math teacher telling me if you give up like the rest you won t be anything. Like most at that age I
instantly took offense to her saying that then spent the whole year pissing her off, with one of my
teachers telling me this from then on it was a thought in the back off my mind. I do not know what it
is with math teachers but in seventh grade he told me without learning this you can not move on ,and
you will fail. At that point in my in my life i remember just wanting to give up on school, mostly
because i thought i would fail every class leading to High school. In spite of facing these major
negative components in my life i had to move on.
After I have went through those rough two years, my last year of

This scholarly article critiques a study that examined the relationship between cleft lip/palate and learning disabilities in reading. While the problem aimed to help children with clefts, the article did not clearly state the problem. The sample and methodology had some strengths, such as matching participants and using standardized tests, but limitations included a small sample size and lack of discussion on generalizability. Overall, the article could have been strengthened by more clearly defining the problem and discussing limitations.

The Effects Of Electric Cars On The Environment
The world revolves around innovation and working for a better future. Without experimentation and
new discoveries, the world would lack some of the most brilliant inventions that people take for
granted everyday. With that being said, there is also some inventions that some say have contributed to
the eventual destruction of the world. Petroleum powered vehicles are one of the many inventions that
have become a huge part of everyone s lives and has opened up a network of ways to travel and
communicate with others from all over the country. On the other hand, petroleum powered cars have
posed a huge threat over the years and has emerged as one of the top contributors to global warming.
Electric cars have emerged as a way to solve the problem. Although, there are negative effects on the
environment caused by all cars, the electric car is working to reduce the negative effects through
alternative power sources and by reducing the burning of fossil fuels to power them. The Nissan Leaf
a popular model of electric car and there have been many ads to promote the car. One ad that stood out
was an ad that started out with a very familiar site. It was ice melting and polar ice caps breaking apart
and plummeting into the frigid ocean. Most people would know immediately that it was an ad that
involved global warming because of how much media coverage that topic has had and that it is a
rising concern for every living creature. The next image the viewer sees in the commercial is a

Imagery In Plato s Allegory Of The Cave
Some of the key images Plato uses in his Allegory of the cave are the shadows coming from the fire
the prisoners see as they are chained up. Every time a prisoner gets a glimpse of these shadows they
can t help but wonder what these shadows represent. Since the prisoners have been locked up away for
most of their lives they really have know understanding what these shadows are. The shadows
represent a world that only the prisoners know, its really the only world or way they have known.
These shadows are never fully understood by the prisoners until one of the prisoners is set free. When
the prisoner is freed from his imprisonment he is then shocked by what he witnesses. The prisoner
sees a whole new world; this world was very shocking to him because he had no idea that this world
had even existed in the first place. His imprisonment was the only way of life he had ever known. This

being enlightened/educated or discovering the truth. I think that the truth in this story in this story is
the new world the released prisoner saw. He had been enlightened that his imprisonment was not only
the bad life, but it wasn t the only life he could have. He had a sense of comparing the two worlds so
he could which was the good life and which was the bad life . The reality would have to be the new

Play Station Vs Xbox Essay
Despite bearing some superficial similarities, the differences between Xbox and Play Station are clear.
The revolutionary debate between the two systems has become extraordinary. Deciding about which
one to choose comes with the decision of the cost, the online gameplay, and the design of the system.
Determining the cost of what you would like to spend on a system is very difficult. Because you do
want the one that has the best gameplay and visual appeals, right? Which games are better may
ultimately come down to the types of titles you like to play, though, so there is always room for
debate. (Digital Trends Website) The cost of games for every system are the same, but as far as the
console, Play Station is cheaper. According to statistics in 2014, Xbox one was retailed at $500
meanwhile the Play Station was marked at $400. (PC ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Xbox users can get a year of Xbox Live Gold for $60, and PlayStation users can get a year of PS Plus

do enjoy online gaming, and want the best possible system for that gameplay. As with the Xbox live
subscription, you do have access to game add ons and hidden in game abilities. With PS Plus, you
only can get live streaming access, music, etc.
The design of the two systems are similar in the way that they are appealing to the eye. The Xbox One
offers a sleek, modern look of the next generation of entertainment in your own living room but is
fairly bulky and glossy compared to the PS4. (IGN.com) With the Xbox one, it has to be placed

supply, unlike Xbox One. The power supply for the Xbox One is external and when purchased, comes

It describes how in ancient times such as Greece and Rome, the majority of people were slaves and society was divided between slave owners who made up the leisure class, and slaves. During feudalism in Europe, society was hierarchical with free peasants at the bottom and monarchs and the pope at the top, with lords and bishops in between. The Industrial Revolution led to the rise of the bourgeoisie and a new working class, causing conflicts between these new classes.

with Vince firing the four divisional CIO s, stating that We don t need any of you anymore. I m
creating one enterprise IT organization, and there s no room for any of you. (McKeen, p 127). Ross
Roman, founder of PR Communications, then gives Vince the opportunity to completely turn around

Vince let it get to the point where he could do nothing else but let them go. We obviously don t know
every detail in the case but it s assumed that the presidents did not want to help with the integration. If
anything they were working against the grain doing spiteful things that slowed down Vince s
movement. Its unknown what type of relationship Vince had with the division presidents from the
beginning, but it appears as if the divisional presidents felt as if they had not reason to know him or
have a relationship with him.
With constant tension between the presidents and Vince he could not get them on board to fix the
business. Vince was told to do whatever it takes by Roman the founder and he did so. Vince gave
everyone plenty of opportunities, and plenty of time until he saw the presidents as a liability rather
then an asset. The main problem on why Vince could not get the divisional president on board was
because personally they had no reason. Their pay was not based on company performance, and the
integration would just make more work for them. Vince should have devised an incentive program.
Although they may not have deserved it, or they needed any more money, it would have been worth it
to Vince. He would not have to have gone through as much trouble, and he would not have had to do
everything on his own, or rely only on himself. If he awarded a bonus in incremental order to
encourage competition things would have

An Essay About Eleanor Roosevelt
Do what you feel in your heart to be right for you ll be criticized anyway. You ll be damned if you do,
and damned if you don t. This quote by Eleanor Roosevelt is a phrase that she lived by her entire life.
She was a woman trying to speak up for those that did not have a voice, fearing they would be
criticized for speaking up. She continued in her selfless journey of helping others, even more so when
she became married to Franklin Roosevelt, the future president. During his time as president, Eleanor
became even more influenced in the lives of others as she helped Eleanor Roosevelt, an inspiring
woman that helped many while performing the part of First Lady, started out with a rough life but
ended it with a lasting legacy.
Eleanor Roosevelt was born on October 11, 1884 to a proud mother, who later would be too ashamed
to even look at her. Her mother was Anna Halls Roosevelt, an outstanding beauty and figure of grace
in their society, and Eleanor was just not. She was reminded of this daily as her mother would always
call her granny meaning back then too plain. Though she never let it show, it had always affected her,
making her extremely self conscience. She would feel this way until she grew older and finally gained
confidence when she went to the Academy in London. Her father, Elliott Roosevelt, was her favorite

Relationships In The Turn Of The Twentieth Century
Once upon a time ... you know the story, were the prince goes to great lengths to rescue the princess
from the witch or the dragon, maybe even some curse, they fall in love and live happily ever after. If
only relationships were that simple, and not that sexist, how happy we all would be. However, for
those of us that live outside the world of fairy tales, we know how unrealistic this is. In taking the time
to look at real relationships, we see that they have many complexes; multiple facets that make the
relationship begin, continue and even end. Some would argue that relationships are not intricate at all,
but in reality, we have lost the value and meaning behind them and so we make them more difficult.
That the issue with relationships is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was important that they taught them young, to shrink themselves, they need to learn that they were
less then men, in this man s world, and to recognize that they had a role to play. For many women this
was an issue, they couldn t enter the workforce for certain jobs (if at all), they couldn t live alone, but
most importantly it affected their relationships and marriages the most. Marriage something that they
were taught to strive for, something that was so romanticized even it was tainted. Women in the 20th
century, unlike modern women were not viewed as equals in a relationship, and a clear indication of
that that is seen in the literature of that time. In analyzing the short story, The Yellow Wallpaper
(Charlotte Perkins Gilman), we see just how unequal women were in relationships. As the wife , of
John (interesting that she does not even have her own name) she suffers from depression and depends
on him. However, instead of treating her like a sick wife John treats her more like a child, such as
when she as when she tries to talk about her condition and he tells her, bless her little heart (532). Here
we see John, the husband of the narrator, talking down to his wife. This is because he is a man he feels
superior over her. Women were not equal within the relationship and were often times treated as
children. We also she this equality as John will not allow his wife to decide were to sleep. Although it
would have been in her best interest to get out of the room that was filled with the yellow wallpaper ,
as a man he believes that he knows what is best even when his wife tells him how she feels because
they are not equal he does not view her opinions or feels as being important. Although it is often said
that women should be more traditional , such as those from centuries before, it is clear to see why

Beginning in 1868, Japan underwent rapid modernization and Westernization under Emperor Meiji that fundamentally changed the country. Prior to the Meiji Restoration, Japan was ruled by the Tokugawa shogunate for over 200 years in a policy of isolationism called sakoku. However, increasing contact with Western powers in the mid-19th century exposed the technological weaknesses of Japan compared to the industrialized West. Should Pluto Be Considered A Planet Essay
Many may urge that Pluto should be considered a planet for it has similar characteristics as the planets
of the Solar System; however, others still believe that Pluto should not be considered a planet because
of its slight differences and conditions that are not matched.
Pluto is recognised by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) as a dwarf planet for it doesn t
match the third condition of what defines a planet. IAU proposed three conditions to becoming a
planet. The first condition being: (a) is in orbit around the Sun; the second condition being: (b) has
sufficient mass for its self gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a hydrostatic
equilibrium (nearly round) shape; the third condition, in which Pluto has not met the standards to,
being:(c) has cleared the neighbourhood around its orbit. Pluto doesn t meet the standards to the final
condition as Pluto follows the orbit path of some asteroid like objects in space and are surrounded
with these objects. If people were to ignore the third condition and recognise Pluto ... Show more

Reporters with interest in Pluto have published many articles related to the matter of whether Pluto
should be considered a planet. Many are opposing the opinion that Pluto should not be considered a
planet as the third condition is very vague. For instance, the Earth s neighbourhood could be
considered as not cleared out as the moon is following it around; Jupiter is continuously having
contact with asteroids named Trojans, and Neptune s orbit crosses over with Pluto s orbit. The
Guardian stated in one of it s articles that Pluto should not have a ban from being a planet due to its
small size. IAU, however, has not made any regards on this criticism. These opposing views about
Pluto may be correct in a way; however, factually speaking, Pluto is still not considered as a planet as
IAU has not made any changes towards its definition of the word,

The Importance Of Looking At The Sky
For thousands of years now, people have been observing the sky and the universe. Most would assume
that this did not happen until the Renaissance period, from the 14th to the 17th century, when in fact it
started much earlier than that. We can thank many of the Greeks for this matter, such as Aristotle for
an example. The main reasons for the use of looking at the sky was obvious in many cases, the two
main reasons were for traveling and farming. It was essential for surviving to know the seasons for
crops and to tell what kind of weather was to come before going places. One person who played a
huge role in astronomy and science was Galileo Galilei. Galileo had paved the way for many modern
day scientists and innovations. This man had devoted his entire life to his findings and to better
educate the public. In the poem The Old Astronomer to His Pupil, it was said by Sarah Williams, I
have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night, and this perfectly explains the relationship
Galileo had with astronomy. With all the struggles that Galileo went through he could have stopped
believing in what he did, yet he never did. His ideas were revolutionary in science and the world.
Galileo Galilei was born on February 15th in the year 1564 in Pisa, Italy. This period of time was right
in the middle of the Renaissance era. Galilei was the first born of six children to a famous musician
and scholar by the name of Vincenzo Galilei and Giulia degli Ammannati. His family

Introducing Lean Concepts in a Manufacturing Company
Your organization, a company that manufactures automobile brake pads, is about to introduce lean
concepts into its operations in order to be more competitive with foreign manufacturers. The lean
project manager does not understand why you, the safety manager, want to be a part of the process.
Provide a convincing argument about what you can contribute if you are included. Lean
manufacturing is based upon the philosophy that zero waste is a legitimate goal for an organization.
Lean manufacturing is based on finding efficiencies and removing wasteful steps that don t add value
to the end product (Lean manufacturing, 2012, Mind Tools). Defects are bad for customers in the
sense that customers receive an unwanted, defective product but also bad for businesses that must eat
the cost of the defective product, as well as suffer a blow to their reputations. This is particularly true
for a safety related item such as a brake pad. Waste in terms of unneeded expenditures will make the
product more expensive, taking away value from the company in terms of profits and also making
consumers less likely to buy a costly item. Waste can occur in a number of areas, including
overproduction; delays; inventory buildups; over processing; inefficiencies in the human aspects of in
manufacturing; product defects; and inefficient allocations of labor (Lean manufacturing, 2012, Mind
Tools). A sales manager such as myself can play a critical role in identifying waste. First and foremost,

The Effects Of Global Warming On Health, Spatial...
Reptilian populations are under constant scrutiny from the environment. The reptilian populations rely
on close to equal sex ratios for their species to thrive. With the changing climate more and more
reptiles are at risk. This is because global warming may influence health, spatial distribution, growth,
and reproductive output (Simoncini 2014). Along with that, the change in temperature will affect the
incubation temperature, embryonic development, sex ratios, and hatchling success (Simoncini 2014).
Not only that, but global change may result in a stronger sex ratio bias, which could lead to extinction
of TSD reptiles (Hulin et al 2009). An all male or all female biased population adds more stress on a
population to survive. Scientists are concerned populations will dwindle or possibly become extinct if
reptilian species cannot adapt to climate change. Global warming will result in increased atmospheric
temperature in a short time scale and may modify several life history traits in populations (Hulin et al
2009). Reptilian species may not have the time to physically adapt to the environmental changes.
Species could overcome climate change by modification of nesting phenology or behavior (Hulin et al
2009). Some temperature dependent sex determined species may be able to compensate by nesting in
cooler areas (Refsnider 2012). Not only will temperature change affect sex ratios, but it can alter
offspring phenotypes and performance. A study was conducted to observe the effect

Cold War Environmental Changes
Medical and Environment Advancements from the Cold War The Cold War had a major impact on
people s lives then, and now. Most people are using technology generated from the cold war today
without even knowing it. Even though the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. were allies during WWI, their
relationship became uneasy after WWII. The fear of communism spreading made it tense for the
American people. There were many advancements during this time because each country was trying to
determine which country was superior to one another. The medical and environmental achievements
were some of the most significant improvements in technology and they helped America prosper then,
as well as today.

After the war, the health of the children improved tremendously. Vaccines against polio, measles, and
rubella were developed. Polio is a crippling and potentially deadly disease that killed many people and
children. The first polio vaccine was developed by Jonas Stalk and came into use in 1955. The oral
polio vaccine was developed by Albert Sabin and people started using it in 1961. Measles is an
infectious disease causing fever and a red rash on the skin. The introduction to the vaccine occured in
1963. The vaccine helped eliminate hundreds and thousands of cases of measles every year. Rubella is
a contagious viral disease with symptoms like measles. It can cause fetal malformation if it is
contracted early in pregnancy. The rubella vaccine became available in 1963 and an improved one

Theme of Hope Hope in the face of adversity, hope in spite of the depression and mere survival they
must endure, hope in the face of death and fear. One of the major themes that Cormac McCarthy
emphasizes in The Road is hope: hope for a better world, hope that there are still good people out
there. McCarthy uses the son as a symbol of hope throughout the novel to engage and grasp the
attention of his readers. Hope is what progresses the novel, therefore without hope there is nothing.
The sons character is a symbol of hope to the father throughout the novel. In the father s perspective

McCarthy utilizes food as a sign of hope. Throughout the novel the father and son are constantly
fighting the struggle of running low on food. When they find the bunker of food the text is full of short
sentences Canned hams. , Corned beef which emphasizes the father s joy and almost disbelief of how
hopeful the future will be with the abundance of good. The way the father also repeatedly says oh my
god, when throughout the book he maintains a fairly non religious view, shows how it finding this
food gives the father hope. Other than the boy the father has hope in very few things. But one thing
which is shown throughout The Road is the father s sense of morals. The father always reassures the
boy and himself that they are the good guys which gives them the hope to keep persevere because they
are, to the father, keeping goodness in the world alive, carrying the flame. Cormac McCarthy presents
the cannibals as a lost hope in The Road. They are almost only referred to as the bad guys and are
described as if they are animals with no hope other than to survive. Choe 3 In the father s dream an
animalistic creature is scared off by the man and the boy, symbolizing how humanity after the end of
the world is something to be afraid of. Also in this dream the father and the son are holding a light,

It discusses how the Hmong believe epilepsy is caused by a soul-stealing spirit, while doctors view it medically, and how disagreements over treatment led to miscommunication that worsened Lia's condition. Resources to overcome these cultural differences were lacking.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is a book written by Jonathan Safran Foer, who centers his story
around multiple losses and grief between different characters in the story. The two characters that are
the main focus of grief in the story was a little boy named Oskar Schell and his grandfather, Thomas
Schell. Oskar had lost his father during the 9/11 attacks and as a little boy he was having a hard time
coping with his father s death. Even after two years, he is still very depressed, inflicting harm on
himself and becoming furious with his mother and others around him. What Oskar does to get over
that grief and loss is make inventions or write letters. He mentions that most of the things he does

leads him to move to the U.S and make a new life for himself. Later in the story he meets Oskar s

Emotional and Cognitive Intelligence
Cognitive intelligence and emotional intelligence have both been widely examined with regard to their
effect on individual workplace abilities. A critical comparison of the two concepts will be the basis of
this essay. Some theorists have hypothesised that the ease with which an employee can process
information and work towards solutions (our cognitive intelligence) is the key aspect in our ability to
contribute to the workplace, particularly in more complex environments (Viswesvaran Ones, 2002).
While others support the theory that our ability to use and adapt to emotion (our emotional
intelligence; EI) has the greatest affect on our organisational involvement (Cherniss, Extein, Goleman,
Weissberg, 2006). Through exploration of both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has been studied and elaborated upon so much, that what was initially a concise realm of specificity,
has particularly in the area of EI testing become convoluted by measures of social intelligence and
emotional and social competencies (Cherniss, 2010), which while similar to EI do distinctly deviate
from the generally accepted Mayer et al. 2000 model of it. Some measures even include tests of
cognitive intelligence, the concept with which it is supposedly in direct contrast. This has led to
criticism about whether or not measures of EI have construct validity (Cherniss, 2010).
From a theoretical standpoint the equivocality regarding an agreed definition of EI most specifically
affects the theorists studying the concept. From an organisational perspective the practical
implications of uncertainty surround the measurement of the concept, as opposed to its definition. For
example if an organisation relies heavily on a team which is cohesive, cooperative and connected to
one another the business may screen potential employees to ensure they will suit the role using a
measure of emotional intelligence. Here in lay the problem; if a construct cannot be clearly defined,
how can a test every truly have construct validity how can the variables indicating an particular
outcome ever be accurate, when we do not know exactly what we are measuring? Moreover, a focus
on EI within businesses and organisations could have significant drawbacks. Unavoidable though

South African American History
In the 1830s, the British Government began to look to South Africa for the abundant gold and
diamond in the area, as well as, with the hopes of gaining control of the most strategic port and route
to trade with India. The British acted quickly, and started to take control of the cape of South Africa.
In 1833, they emancipated the Afrikaners slaves, created more taxes, and auctioned off previously
communal land. This caused great rage within the Boer community. The Boers were Dutch and
Huguenot people that migrated to South Africa in the late 17th century (Great Trek). Starting in 1835,
the Boers left their homeland with the goal of starting a new life free from British rule. The majority

Comminuted Fracture Case Study
The fracture seen in the images is called a comminuted fracture and is seen on the proximal end of the
humerus. A comminuted fracture Is identified by the bone being spit into multiple fragments. As seen
in the images provided the humeral head is seen with 2 fragments coming off of the medial and lateral
aspects. Due to the multiple fragments as well as the patients MOI I deemed this fracture comminuted.
The etiology for a comminuted fracture is described as an extreme pressure being exerted on a bone1.
This matches the MOI of the patient who claimed that she fell onto her shoulder after slipping on the
ice. The extreme pressure would be her entire body weight being exerted onto her humeral head

Other complications can be infection caused by the surgery2. Even before treatment some
complications of this fracture can be ripping of the skin, muscles and blood vessels causing it to
become an open fracture. Substantial nerve damage can also be a risk if the fractured fragments are
moved to much. Open fractures have a high risk of infection from the outer environment2. The
fracture in the included images is a closed fracture. With closed fractures there is less chance of initial
infection, it is very important that the patient follows the post operative instructions. By changing the
dressings on the wound with clean ones regularly will help avoid infections, and by resting the part
(e.g. keeping it still, avoid lifting with that arm, etc.) there is less chance of the hardware failing or
malunion of the individual fragments3. If in this case the patient were still experiencing pain follow up
x rays would then be ordered to check how the fracture looks and to check for complications. With
malunion you would be able to see if the humerus had bony deformities associated with malunion
where the different fracture fragments have not properly fused back with the humerus. If the follow up
x rays show that the fracture it not healing after 6 8 weeks (the average healing time for a humerus)
then more follow up x rays may also be ordered every month as this an indication of either delayed or
non union of the

Comparing Christian Vs. Baptism
Comparing Lutheran vs Baptism Lutherans and Baptists are both Christians who are also Protestants.
They share many beliefs and have more similarities than differences. Both happen to be reformists
within the fold of Christianity. However, there are many different branches of Baptists with
differences between them too. In Lutheran, baptism is seen as a work of God and so even infants are
baptized. On the other hand, baptism is only for believers among Baptists, and this is the reason why
infants are not baptized in Baptists. Lutherans are the first of the major denominations that broke away
from the Roman Catholic Church in a bid to reform it from some practices and doctrines that had no
or little justification. The Christian community, though centered in salvation through Jesus Christ, has
been divided into sub sects, with some differences in their teachings, doctrine and ceremonial
celebrations. Two of the most commonly misconstrued sects would be the Lutheran and the Baptism
Churches. As mentioned, both religions believe in and worship the same God, refer to the same Bible
and hold communal gatherings to celebrate their faith. The principal dissimilarity is their doctrines and
preaching/teaching methods. There are differences in their ceremonies, too, particularly in the manner
in which Holy Communion is administered and the over all formality of the worship service. The
following comparison would affirm that Lutherans are more sacramentarian in theology and worship,

KGB to Prime Minister to President
Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin was one of the KGB s (Komitet Gosudarstvennoy Bezopasnosti, or in
English, Committee for State Security) greatest spies. Actually Vladimir Putin s KGB career was, at
best, mediocre to terrible according to the KGB. Nothing in his background suggests his bad record. It
could just happen to be that his assignments failed due strictly to random chance, then again, this is
the KGB; are they hiding something about their current president? Maybe what they are hiding is that
he was one of their greatest spies.
Putin was born on October 27, 1952 in Leningrad to a working class family. When he was 23 years
old Putin graduated Leningrad State University with a law degree; he also has a doctorate in
economics from the St. Petersburg Mining Institute, but it is unknown when he earned this distinction.
In 1975 he was recruited by the KGB through unknown means. ( Vladimir Putin | The Moscow Times.
).
Putin s first and only deployment was to Dresden, East Germany; at the time Dresden was as
backwater as possible for the KGB. While in Dresden, his official job was to attempt to recruit
western businessmen, visitors, and students at Dresden University to become informants for the KGB.
He also worked with a German STASI, East Germany s version of the KGB, officer, Rainer M, who
helped him to recruit Latin American students. Rainer M and Putin were so close that Putin Treated
him as if he were family ( A Look Into Putin s Dresden Days | The Moscow Times. ).

The Importance Of A Good Corporate Governance Framework
Introduction
This paper will discuss why a good corporate governance framework must incorporate stakeholder
accountability. For the purpose of this paper, the term stakeholder governance will be used to
incorporate all aspects of stakeholder accountability and engagement, that is; dialogue, decision
making, transparent operations and implementation of solutions to common problems or goals.
The first part of this paper will describe how the landscape has changed for business operations due to
environmental, economic and social reasons. It will set out the evolution of corporate governance as a
result of historical events and academic debate and suggest that, ultimately, the top down, narrow
paradigm of mainstream business, namely profit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Business, no Longer an Island
Corporate governance is no longer viewed in isolation, as a matter for companies and their
institutional shareholders. Business scandals, global economic and social crises, climate change and
environmental disasters have impacted billions of people, hold high risk consequences and extensive
strategic and geopolitical implications for society at large. Issues traditionally seen as outside of the
business remit are becoming recognised as critical factors to long term business success.
Organisations are now being called to account for their impact on the environment and non
shareholding stakeholders. Just as a company board should ensure that financial statements are
properly audited, it is also responsible for ensuring that management is aware of, and properly
manages, less tangible, nonfinancial risks. In this regard, well managed and considered stakeholder
governance programmes should open up dialogue which encourages questions and thereby provide
access to a broader view of potential risks. Today, revenues of the world s largest multinationals
exceed the gross domestic products of a host of countries, multinationals have a global reach not
enjoyed by countries and private companies are increasingly being called upon to deliver services that
were once the domain of governments. The power relationship between country states and

Many believe that religion is a great factor in the voting process, especially on controversial topics

voting process today, but was also a tremendous political feature in the nineteenth century. Robert P.

the most exciting development in American history since the 1960 s is the recognition that religion
was a key variable in voting behavior. In the past time and eras before the 1960 s, religion was the

This document describes an experiment to determine the specific heat capacity of a 100g brass mass using calorimetry. The experiment involves placing the brass mass in boiling water for 2 minutes, then transferring it to cold water. The temperature change of the cold water is measured over multiple trials and used to calculate the specific heat capacity of brass. Some sources of error are noted, such as inconsistent timing and placement of the brass mass in the boiling water between trials. Overall, the results supported the hypothesis that the cold water temperature would increase due to heat transfer from the hot brass mass.

My Career As A Career
First starting this class I didn t know what exactly what I wanted to do with a career. I was between
two careers trying to figure out what would be best for me. The CIT career would be nice to learn
something entirely new and at the same time tie it in with business some how. The problem I was
having is trying to figure out what I was going to do with it. Doing the first set of activities in this
class allowed me to learn what I really wanted in a job and what I can do with out. My career must
allow me freedom to choose what I want to do to be able to create what I want. My career must allow
me to choose my own hours. Don t get me wrong that I will only work a little because I am going to
put in hours around the clock. What I mean with flexible hours is that if something comes up I will be
able to work around it. It must also allow me to show leadership and call shot. Things that aren t so
important but still hold value is that my job should allow me not to work on Sunday. If I have to once
in a while because there is no way around it, that is understandable. My job should allow me to come
home for dinner most nights and be with my family. It could be not stressful but I deal with stress
good and don t mind it. It could also be not dealing with so many angry people but I can handle them
pretty will. The first option that I choose for my career list is computer networking architect. This
option really interested me because for my needs of a job it really fulfills the

the term open source gained popularity with the rise of the Internet, which provided access to diverse

Essay about Natural Descriptions in Coleridge s and Lord...
Natural Descriptions in Coleridge s and Lord Byron s Texts Works Cited Missing Two closely related
texts, one that we ve studied in this class and one that we haven t, that handle natural description
differently are Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Lord Byron s Manfred. Both of these
texts central characters have experienced trauma, and their portrayal of their environments reveal the
effects that the events have left on them. While Coleridge s mariner is unable to consolidate his past
and is relegated to constantly relive it, Byron s Manfred has protected himself from his unnamed vice
by distancing himself from his feelings and environment. Obvious parallels exist between the poems,
but what I found most striking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This image accomplishes two things: 1) It tells the reader how he views himself, comparing himself to
a thousand thousand slimy things (l 237). 2) And it shows how he views the outside world, as a
corrupted, threatening environment. These descriptions reflect the events well enough to determine
that the mariner is attempting to accurately relive/retell the events. While making it sound as if it s for
the benefit of those that he s telling, the arbitrariness of selecting the audience and the ambiguity of
the story s message discredit the mariner s suggestion and imply that the stories retelling is for the
mariner s benefit. Again, Coleridge s mariner and Byron s Manfred share in their experiences of
trauma but differ in their attempts to overcome it. The psychological analogy that working through
trauma mirrors the habituation of an event can explain this difference. By repeatedly attempting to
experience the trauma, the mariner tries to get use to his past to reconcile with his emotions. Manfred
has successfully completed this process. The downfall with habituation is that you eventually become
desensitized to that stimuli and therefore lose a connection with the environment, which is exactly
Manfred s situation. The descriptions in Byron s text seem, largely, distant emotionally and physically.
He doesn t attempt to revisit his

Overview of Cash Flow Management
Cash Flow Management
Poor cash management is the most frequent stumbling block that causes business failure (Anon.,
2013). Good cash management comes from knowing when, where, and how cash needs will occur.
Knowing the best sources for cash is vital to being prepared to meet needs as they arise. This requires
good relationships with bankers and creditors. Developing and maintaining cash flow projections
helps to understand how cash is generated and used in a business. Without understanding the cash
flow of a business, the business is doomed for failure.
Mr. Morello s projected cash flow for January 2012 to June 2012 shows negative cash flows for
January and May, with January $42,560 and May $1,190 in the negative. The majority of the January
expenses come from the needs of the contract. The May loss can be covered with profits from
February, March, and April, but January becomes a major problem. The projected budget shows
enough in profits to obtain a loan to cover the loss, overdraft, and still have some working capital for
expenses, such as fuel or maintenance for vehicles that is not in the projected budget. Mr. Morello
would need to obtain a loan for at least $50,000. Because accounts receivable can sometimes be
unpredictable, it would be wiser to consider the loan for $60,000 to ensure that the business needs are
met in a timely manner.
In efforts to reduce the interest expense from a loan, community banks and the Small Business
Administration offer lower interest

The Invention Of The Love Sharpener
image source Before 1894, pencils sharpeners were big and heavy, so carrying it about was a big
issue. Some were mounted on the walls of a class room, while some were placed on the desk, despite
the fact that these old school revolving sharpeners looked super cool and perplexing, they were
cumbersome. A travelling writer or student couldn t carry it about.
African American inventor John Lee Love changed the way we see pencil sharpeners in 1894 when he
invented the Love Sharpener, the portable hand wrenched sharpener that peppers a lot of student s
backpacks right up till the present day.
According to history, John Lee Love was a black American carpenter and inventor. He was best
known all over the world for inventing a portable pencil sharpener known as the Love Sharpener ,
named after him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is estimated that he was born some time amid the recreation time frame between 1865 to 1877. Love
in his later days worked as a carpenter in the community of Fall River, Massachusetts.
He applied for a patent for a portable pencil sharpener in 1897. His application determined that his
invention was an enhanced gadget that could serve as a paperweight or trimming. The design was
straightforward, including a hand wrench and a compartment to catch the pencil shavings. In John Lee
Love s creation, the pencil is put into the opening of the sharpener and pivoted by hand. It was
referred to conversationally as the Love Sharpener.

Physics Of String Theory Of Physics
What is string theory?
String theory is a theory that states that the universe is made up of vibrating strings. It is the best
candidate for a quantum theory of gravity. String theory attempts to be a theory of everything.
there are two types of string theories. the first time has strings that are in loops that can break into
open strings and the other has loops that cannot break into open strings. the elementary strings have a
number of excitation modes that are the elementary particles observed. the strings have tension of 1/(2

However there were also slight errors in the Veneziano s model, it was found to be the first term in an
infinite series. In the end, the theory lost in describing hadrons to the standard model of particle
physics.
The standard model of particle physics and why it is not the complete picture
According to the standard model there are matter particles and there are force carrier particles. The
matter particles are the 6 quarks and 6 leptons. The quarks come in three generations. The first
generation is the up quark and the down quark. The second generation is the charm quark and the
strange quark. The third generation is the top quark and the bottom quark. The quarks also have a
property that is called colour. They can be red, blue, green, antired, antiblue or antigreen. The property
colour, does not refer to actual colour. Colour is meaningless on that scale. The quarks combine to
form white.
The six leptons are the electron, the electron neutrino. the muon, the muon neutrino, the tau and the
tau neutrino. The neutrinos have very small mass and are neutral in electric charge, while the other
leptons have a larger mass and have electric charge.
There are also the force carrier particles. There are four forces, the electromagnetic force, the weak
force, the strong force and gravity. For each force there is a boson. The

Essay on American Education in the 1800 s
American Education in the 1800 s
In the early 1800 s education in America grew and developed rapidly, largely because of the works of
three very important men: Noah Webster, William McGuffey, and Horace Mann. These three men
were catalysts for the growth of education throughout the nineteenth century, and without them the
large strides America took during this time would not have occurred. These great men all shared one
goal: to educate the youth of America as well as possible. This was no small task, however, because
the educational system in place was disorganized and had several large problems that had to be
overcome.
The task of correcting the many problems that faced education in the early 1800 s required the genius

The book was such a success that it was used in classrooms for almost one hundred years
(www.ctstateu.edu). Noah Webster s greatest accomplishment was writing the first truly American
dictionary. The book took more than 27 years to complete, and among the nearly 70,000 words
featured in it were truly American words, such as skunk and chowder (www.christianlaw.com). This
book was the work of a lifetime for Webster, and his name is now nearly synonymous with any
modern American dictionary.
Another great contributor to the spread of American educational tools was William McGuffey, author
of the widely spread series, Peerless Pioneer Readers. This series of writings was used in every state
of the Union and had a very obvious effect on students in American schools (lib.muohio.edu). Along
with creating such influential educational tools, McGuffey also taught at several prestigious
institutions of higher learning, such as Ohio University and Miami University (www.hfmgv.org). With
such a widespread influence caused by not only his educational series but his teaching across the
Midwest, it s no surprise that McGuffey is considered one of the instigators of the rapid improvement
of the educational system in America.
The man with the greatest effect on the government s relationship with schools is Horace Mann. Often
called the Father of American Education, Horace Mann wasn t

1. Joseph Stalin and Leon Trotsky were both dedicated communists who rose to prominence in the early Soviet Union under Lenin. However, after Lenin's death they engaged in a power struggle for control of the Soviet leadership. 2. Stalin emphasized national communism and building "socialism in one country," while Trotsky promoted permanent revolution abroad. Stalin allied with other party leaders to marginalize Trotsky, who was eventually exiled and later assassinated. 3. By the late 1920s, Stalin had consolidated power and established a totalitarian dictatorship based on his interpretation of Marxist-Leninist ideology. Trotsky was painted as a traitor while Stalin's cult of personality was strengthened.

The Black Lives Matter Movement
The titles of both songs are different, as is their composition. The 2003 version of the song has the title
Where is the love, whereas the 2016 version is titled #WheresTheLove. The use of the hashtag in the
title symbolizes the digital mindset that people in 2016 currently live in. The internet had not yet taken
off in 2003 and there wasn t an obsession with social media at this point. In 2016 everything is
focused around the concept of instant information. When something significant happens in the U.S.,
the majority of people have that information in hand instantly through their handheld technologies.
The increased use of technology has sparked a surge of social movement. This can be seen through
multiple campaigns, one example would be the Black Lives Matter movement. The Black Lives
Matter movement first began following the death of Trayvon Martin and the acquittal of the officer
who shot him. This movement began with a simple hashtag. Now in 2003 the hashtag was better
known as a pound sign whereas in 2016 it is a classic trademark of social media platforms. The
hashtag allows one s beliefs to be categorized into a short statement. Supporters of the statement will
then begin using the hashtag, thus causing a snowball effect. As the hashtag #blacklivesmatter began
to swarm platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, awareness grew of the movement.
Social media has allowed its members to share documentary evidence of police abuse, spread activist
messages, and

The Role Of Taylor Greer In Barbara Kingsolver s The Bean...
Marietta Greer, also known as Taylor Greer in the book The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver, started
a new life by leaving her home in Pittman County, Kentucky to avoid motherhood. Her life was full of
ups, downs, blessings, hardships, dramatic events, and mixed feelings. The people she met in this new
life such as Lou Ann, Mattie, Estevan, Esperanza, and especially Turtle, have created a positive
outlook on Taylor s life. Without ever meeting them, Taylor s fresh new life would have been dull and
confusing. Though there are also some memories that may have followed her as a fear, but it soon
became a lucky asset to have in her life. The tractor tire, the photo of Turtle during their first night
together, and Turtle s adoption document are each a significant symbol of Taylor s journey.
Tires were apart of Taylor s story since she was a young age when she was called Missy. She had a
fear of them since then after a tractor tire explosion incident and spent her life trying to avoid working
with tires. Later on in her new life, we notice that she starts to encounter them every day. The tires on
her car were the things that decided how her new life would turn out. She decided to settle in Arizona
because of a flat tire which she had to fix at a nearby tire store, Jesus Is Lord Used Tires. While her
wheels were getting checked, she stated, All those tires made me feel nervous (Kingsolver 54). This
shows that she still carries her fear of tires, yet later she finds herself

  • 3. The Positive And Negative Aspects Of Stereotypes What are stereotypes? Can they hurt people?Or even help someone?Well stereotypes are generalizations that everyone puts any given group of people under, now saying this from personal experience i find that there may be both positive and negative effects of others doing this. The ways i have experienced stereotypes range from my own parents to random people like teachers and peers, what i got the most was that I was childish and immature from mostly my Dad and that typical teenage boy from my teachers also even i told myself i was more mature than the peers around me. Most people Spend seventeen years in school, I can honestly say a little less than half of that was spent dealing with teachers with the assumptions of a typical teenage boy. I remember my sixth grade math teacher telling me if you give up like the rest you won t be anything. Like most at that age I instantly took offense to her saying that then spent the whole year pissing her off, with one of my teachers telling me this from then on it was a thought in the back off my mind. I do not know what it is with math teachers but in seventh grade he told me without learning this you can not move on ,and you will fail. At that point in my in my life i remember just wanting to give up on school, mostly because i thought i would fail every class leading to High school. In spite of facing these major negative components in my life i had to move on. After I have went through those rough two years, my last year of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Every time a prisoner gets a glimpse of these shadows they can t help but wonder what these shadows represent. Since the prisoners have been locked up away for most of their lives they really have know understanding what these shadows are. The shadows represent a world that only the prisoners know, its really the only world or way they have known. These shadows are never fully understood by the prisoners until one of the prisoners is set free. When the prisoner is freed from his imprisonment he is then shocked by what he witnesses. He had a sense of comparing the two worlds so he could which was the good life and which was the bad life . The reality would have to be the new world that the freed prisoner witnesses. The revolutionary debate between the two systems has become extraordinary. Deciding about which one to choose comes with the decision of the cost, the online gameplay, and the design of the system. Determining the cost of what you would like to spend on a system is very difficult. Because you do want the one that has the best gameplay and visual appeals, right? Which games are better may ultimately come down to the types of titles you like to play, though, so there is always room for debate. (Digital Trends Website) The cost of games for every system are the same, but as far as the console, Play Station is cheaper. The case starts off with Vince firing the four divisional CIO s, stating that We don t need any of you anymore. I m creating one enterprise IT organization, and there s no room for any of you. (McKeen, p 127). Ross Roman, founder of PR Communications, then gives Vince the opportunity to completely turn around the IT department and has given full support to any of Vinces projects. We obviously don t know every detail in the case but it s assumed that the presidents did not want to help with the integration. If anything they were working against the grain doing spiteful things that slowed down Vince s movement. Its unknown what type of relationship Vince had with the division presidents from the beginning, but it appears as if the divisional presidents felt as if they had not reason to know him or have a relationship with him. With constant tension between the presidents and Vince he could not get them on board to fix the business. Vince was told to do whatever it takes by Roman the founder and he did so. Vince gave everyone plenty of opportunities, and plenty of time until he saw the presidents as a liability rather then an asset. The main problem on why Vince could not get the divisional president on board was because personally they had no reason. Their pay was not based on company performance, and the integration would just make more work for them. Vince should have devised an incentive program. Although they may not have deserved it, or they needed any more money, it would have been worth it to Vince. He would not have to have gone through as much trouble, and he would not have had to do everything on his own, or rely only on himself. This quote by Eleanor Roosevelt is a phrase that she lived by her entire life. She was a woman trying to speak up for those that did not have a voice, fearing they would be criticized for speaking up. She continued in her selfless journey of helping others, even more so when she became married to Franklin Roosevelt, the future president. During his time as president, Eleanor became even more influenced in the lives of others as she helped Eleanor Roosevelt, an inspiring woman that helped many while performing the part of First Lady, started out with a rough life but ended it with a lasting legacy. Eleanor Roosevelt was born on October 11, 1884 to a proud mother, who later would be too ashamed to even look at her. Her mother was Anna Halls Roosevelt, an outstanding beauty and figure of grace in their society, and Eleanor was just not. She was reminded of this daily as her mother would always call her granny meaning back then too plain. Though she never let it show, it had always affected her, making her extremely self conscience. She would feel this way until she grew older and finally gained confidence when she went to the Academy in London. Her father, Elliott Roosevelt, was her favorite parent, for he never ... • 11. Relationships In The Turn Of The Twentieth Century Once upon a time ... you know the story, were the prince goes to great lengths to rescue the princess from the witch or the dragon, maybe even some curse, they fall in love and live happily ever after. If only relationships were that simple, and not that sexist, how happy we all would be. However, for those of us that live outside the world of fairy tales, we know how unrealistic this is. In taking the time to look at real relationships, we see that they have many complexes; multiple facets that make the relationship begin, continue and even end. Some would argue that relationships are not intricate at all, but in reality, we have lost the value and meaning behind them and so we make them more difficult. That the issue with relationships is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was important that they taught them young, to shrink themselves, they need to learn that they were less then men, in this man s world, and to recognize that they had a role to play. For many women this was an issue, they couldn t enter the workforce for certain jobs (if at all), they couldn t live alone, but most importantly it affected their relationships and marriages the most. Marriage something that they were taught to strive for, something that was so romanticized even it was tainted. Women in the 20th century, unlike modern women were not viewed as equals in a relationship, and a clear indication of that that is seen in the literature of that time. In analyzing the short story, The Yellow Wallpaper (Charlotte Perkins Gilman), we see just how unequal women were in relationships. As the wife , of John (interesting that she does not even have her own name) she suffers from depression and depends on him. However, instead of treating her like a sick wife John treats her more like a child, such as when she as when she tries to talk about her condition and he tells her, bless her little heart (532). Here we see John, the husband of the narrator, talking down to his wife. This is because he is a man he feels superior over her. Women were not equal within the relationship and were often times treated as children. We also she this equality as John will not allow his wife to decide were to sleep. Although it would have been in her best interest to get out of the room that was filled with the yellow wallpaper , as a man he believes that he knows what is best even when his wife tells him how she feels because they are not equal he does not view her opinions or feels as being important. Although it is often said that women should be more traditional , such as those from centuries before, it is clear to see why modern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Should Pluto Be Considered A Planet Essay Many may urge that Pluto should be considered a planet for it has similar characteristics as the planets of the Solar System; however, others still believe that Pluto should not be considered a planet because of its slight differences and conditions that are not matched. Pluto is recognised by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) as a dwarf planet for it doesn t match the third condition of what defines a planet. IAU proposed three conditions to becoming a planet. The first condition being: (a) is in orbit around the Sun; the second condition being: (b) has sufficient mass for its self gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a hydrostatic equilibrium (nearly round) shape; the third condition, in which Pluto has not met the standards to, being:(c) has cleared the neighbourhood around its orbit. Pluto doesn t meet the standards to the final condition as Pluto follows the orbit path of some asteroid like objects in space and are surrounded with these objects. Reporters with interest in Pluto have published many articles related to the matter of whether Pluto should be considered a planet. Many are opposing the opinion that Pluto should not be considered a planet as the third condition is very vague. For instance, the Earth s neighbourhood could be considered as not cleared out as the moon is following it around; Jupiter is continuously having contact with asteroids named Trojans, and Neptune s orbit crosses over with Pluto s orbit. The Guardian stated in one of it s articles that Pluto should not have a ban from being a planet due to its small size. IAU, however, has not made any regards on this criticism. These opposing views about Pluto may be correct in a way; however, factually speaking, Pluto is still not considered as a planet as IAU has not made any changes towards its definition of the word, ... • 14. The Importance Of Looking At The Sky For thousands of years now, people have been observing the sky and the universe. Most would assume that this did not happen until the Renaissance period, from the 14th to the 17th century, when in fact it started much earlier than that. We can thank many of the Greeks for this matter, such as Aristotle for an example. The main reasons for the use of looking at the sky was obvious in many cases, the two main reasons were for traveling and farming. It was essential for surviving to know the seasons for crops and to tell what kind of weather was to come before going places. One person who played a huge role in astronomy and science was Galileo Galilei. Galileo had paved the way for many modern day scientists and innovations. This man had devoted his entire life to his findings and to better educate the public. In the poem The Old Astronomer to His Pupil, it was said by Sarah Williams, I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night, and this perfectly explains the relationship Galileo had with astronomy. With all the struggles that Galileo went through he could have stopped believing in what he did, yet he never did. His ideas were revolutionary in science and the world. Galileo Galilei was born on February 15th in the year 1564 in Pisa, Italy. This period of time was right in the middle of the Renaissance era. The lean project manager does not understand why you, the safety manager, want to be a part of the process. Provide a convincing argument about what you can contribute if you are included. Lean manufacturing is based upon the philosophy that zero waste is a legitimate goal for an organization. Lean manufacturing is based on finding efficiencies and removing wasteful steps that don t add value to the end product (Lean manufacturing, 2012, Mind Tools). Defects are bad for customers in the sense that customers receive an unwanted, defective product but also bad for businesses that must eat the cost of the defective product, as well as suffer a blow to their reputations. This is particularly true for a safety related item such as a brake pad. Waste in terms of unneeded expenditures will make the product more expensive, taking away value from the company in terms of profits and also making consumers less likely to buy a costly item. Waste can occur in a number of areas, including overproduction; delays; inventory buildups; over processing; inefficiencies in the human aspects of in manufacturing; product defects; and inefficient allocations of labor (Lean manufacturing, 2012, Mind Tools). • 18. The Effects Of Global Warming On Health, Spatial... Reptilian populations are under constant scrutiny from the environment. The reptilian populations rely on close to equal sex ratios for their species to thrive. With the changing climate more and more reptiles are at risk. This is because global warming may influence health, spatial distribution, growth, and reproductive output (Simoncini 2014). Along with that, the change in temperature will affect the incubation temperature, embryonic development, sex ratios, and hatchling success (Simoncini 2014). Not only that, but global change may result in a stronger sex ratio bias, which could lead to extinction of TSD reptiles (Hulin et al 2009). An all male or all female biased population adds more stress on a population to survive. Scientists are concerned populations will dwindle or possibly become extinct if reptilian species cannot adapt to climate change. Global warming will result in increased atmospheric temperature in a short time scale and may modify several life history traits in populations (Hulin et al 2009). Reptilian species may not have the time to physically adapt to the environmental changes. Species could overcome climate change by modification of nesting phenology or behavior (Hulin et al 2009). Some temperature dependent sex determined species may be able to compensate by nesting in cooler areas (Refsnider 2012). Not only will temperature change affect sex ratios, but it can alter offspring phenotypes and performance. A study was conducted to observe the effect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

McCarthy uses the son as a symbol of hope throughout the novel to engage and grasp the attention of his readers. Hope is what progresses the novel, therefore without hope there is nothing. A critical comparison of the two concepts will be the basis of this essay. Some theorists have hypothesised that the ease with which an employee can process information and work towards solutions (our cognitive intelligence) is the key aspect in our ability to contribute to the workplace, particularly in more complex environments (Viswesvaran Ones, 2002). It has been studied and elaborated upon so much, that what was initially a concise realm of specificity, has particularly in the area of EI testing become convoluted by measures of social intelligence and emotional and social competencies (Cherniss, 2010), which while similar to EI do distinctly deviate from the generally accepted Mayer et al. 2000 model of it. Some measures even include tests of cognitive intelligence, the concept with which it is supposedly in direct contrast. This has led to criticism about whether or not measures of EI have construct validity (Cherniss, 2010). From a theoretical standpoint the equivocality regarding an agreed definition of EI most specifically affects the theorists studying the concept. From an organisational perspective the practical implications of uncertainty surround the measurement of the concept, as opposed to its definition. For example if an organisation relies heavily on a team which is cohesive, cooperative and connected to one another the business may screen potential employees to ensure they will suit the role using a measure of emotional intelligence. Here in lay the problem; if a construct cannot be clearly defined, how can a test every truly have construct validity how can the variables indicating an particular outcome ever be accurate, when we do not know exactly what we are measuring? Moreover, a focus on EI within businesses and organisations could have significant drawbacks. Unavoidable though ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sweirenga, author of Ethnoreligious Political Behavior in the Mid Nineteenth Century, promotes that, the most exciting development in American history since the 1960 s is the recognition that religion was a key variable in voting behavior. In the past time and eras before the 1960 s, religion was the main element for solving complex issues, which is why religion was a big part of the political campaigns. Religion has been a part of people s life style for many years; thus affecting their opinions on controversial topics that are connected with campaigns. In the 1800 s, the church was an influential role in the government and society. Moreover, majority of the people at this time were extremely religious, including the government party, which greatly affected the laws of the country and the votes of the campaigns. In 1832, the political party realized that religion was becoming such a great factor and influence, that they did not allow any Roman Catholics to be a part of the Executive Council until 1840. Even still, after that date, they majority of the government were a part of the church, showing that religion has such a major impact on the influence of voting even still in the twenty first ... • 33. My Career As A Career First starting this class I didn t know what exactly what I wanted to do with a career. I was between two careers trying to figure out what would be best for me. The CIT career would be nice to learn something entirely new and at the same time tie it in with business some how. The problem I was having is trying to figure out what I was going to do with it. Doing the first set of activities in this class allowed me to learn what I really wanted in a job and what I can do with out. My career must allow me freedom to choose what I want to do to be able to create what I want. My career must allow me to choose my own hours. Don t get me wrong that I will only work a little because I am going to put in hours around the clock. What I mean with flexible hours is that if something comes up I will be able to work around it. It must also allow me to show leadership and call shot. Things that aren t so important but still hold value is that my job should allow me not to work on Sunday. If I have to once in a while because there is no way around it, that is understandable. My job should allow me to come home for dinner most nights and be with my family. It could be not stressful but I deal with stress good and don t mind it. It could also be not dealing with so many angry people but I can handle them pretty will. The first option that I choose for my career list is computer networking architect. This option really interested me because for my needs of a job it really fulfills the ... • 36. Essay about Natural Descriptions in Coleridge s and Lord... Natural Descriptions in Coleridge s and Lord Byron s Texts Works Cited Missing Two closely related texts, one that we ve studied in this class and one that we haven t, that handle natural description differently are Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Lord Byron s Manfred. Both of these texts central characters have experienced trauma, and their portrayal of their environments reveal the effects that the events have left on them. While Coleridge s mariner is unable to consolidate his past and is relegated to constantly relive it, Byron s Manfred has protected himself from his unnamed vice by distancing himself from his feelings and environment. Obvious parallels exist between the poems, but what I found most striking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This image accomplishes two things: 1) It tells the reader how he views himself, comparing himself to a thousand thousand slimy things (l 237). 2) And it shows how he views the outside world, as a corrupted, threatening environment. These descriptions reflect the events well enough to determine that the mariner is attempting to accurately relive/retell the events. While making it sound as if it s for the benefit of those that he s telling, the arbitrariness of selecting the audience and the ambiguity of the story s message discredit the mariner s suggestion and imply that the stories retelling is for the mariner s benefit. Again, Coleridge s mariner and Byron s Manfred share in their experiences of trauma but differ in their attempts to overcome it. The psychological analogy that working through trauma mirrors the habituation of an event can explain this difference. By repeatedly attempting to experience the trauma, the mariner tries to get use to his past to reconcile with his emotions. Manfred has successfully completed this process. The downfall with habituation is that you eventually become desensitized to that stimuli and therefore lose a connection with the environment, which is exactly Manfred s situation. The descriptions in Byron s text seem, largely, distant emotionally and physically. He doesn t attempt to revisit his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Overview of Cash Flow Management Cash Flow Management Poor cash management is the most frequent stumbling block that causes business failure (Anon., 2013). Good cash management comes from knowing when, where, and how cash needs will occur. Knowing the best sources for cash is vital to being prepared to meet needs as they arise. This requires good relationships with bankers and creditors. Developing and maintaining cash flow projections helps to understand how cash is generated and used in a business. Without understanding the cash flow of a business, the business is doomed for failure. Mr. Morello s projected cash flow for January 2012 to June 2012 shows negative cash flows for January and May, with January $42,560 and May $1,190 in the negative. The majority of the January expenses come from the needs of the contract. The May loss can be covered with profits from February, March, and April, but January becomes a major problem. The projected budget shows enough in profits to obtain a loan to cover the loss, overdraft, and still have some working capital for expenses, such as fuel or maintenance for vehicles that is not in the projected budget. Mr. Morello would need to obtain a loan for at least $50,000. Because accounts receivable can sometimes be unpredictable, it would be wiser to consider the loan for $60,000 to ensure that the business needs are met in a timely manner. In efforts to reduce the interest expense from a loan, community banks and the Small Business Administration offer lower interest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some were mounted on the walls of a class room, while some were placed on the desk, despite the fact that these old school revolving sharpeners looked super cool and perplexing, they were cumbersome. A travelling writer or student couldn t carry it about. African American inventor John Lee Love changed the way we see pencil sharpeners in 1894 when he invented the Love Sharpener, the portable hand wrenched sharpener that peppers a lot of student s backpacks right up till the present day. The matter particles are the 6 quarks and 6 leptons. The quarks come in three generations. The first generation is the up quark and the down quark. The second generation is the charm quark and the strange quark. The third generation is the top quark and the bottom quark. The quarks also have a property that is called colour. They can be red, blue, green, antired, antiblue or antigreen. The property colour, does not refer to actual colour. Colour is meaningless on that scale. The quarks combine to form white. The six leptons are the electron, the electron neutrino. the muon, the muon neutrino, the tau and the tau neutrino. The neutrinos have very small mass and are neutral in electric charge, while the other leptons have a larger mass and have electric charge. There are also the force carrier particles. • 40. Essay on American Education in the 1800 s American Education in the 1800 s In the early 1800 s education in America grew and developed rapidly, largely because of the works of three very important men: Noah Webster, William McGuffey, and Horace Mann. These three men were catalysts for the growth of education throughout the nineteenth century, and without them the large strides America took during this time would not have occurred. These great men all shared one goal: to educate the youth of America as well as possible. This was no small task, however, because the educational system in place was disorganized and had several large problems that had to be overcome. The task of correcting the many problems that faced education in the early 1800 s required the genius of many men ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The book was such a success that it was used in classrooms for almost one hundred years (www.ctstateu.edu). Noah Webster s greatest accomplishment was writing the first truly American dictionary. The book took more than 27 years to complete, and among the nearly 70,000 words featured in it were truly American words, such as skunk and chowder (www.christianlaw.com). This book was the work of a lifetime for Webster, and his name is now nearly synonymous with any modern American dictionary. Another great contributor to the spread of American educational tools was William McGuffey, author of the widely spread series, Peerless Pioneer Readers. This series of writings was used in every state of the Union and had a very obvious effect on students in American schools (lib.muohio.edu). Along with creating such influential educational tools, McGuffey also taught at several prestigious institutions of higher learning, such as Ohio University and Miami University (www.hfmgv.org). With such a widespread influence caused by not only his educational series but his teaching across the Midwest, it s no surprise that McGuffey is considered one of the instigators of the rapid improvement of the educational system in America. The 2003 version of the song has the title Where is the love, whereas the 2016 version is titled #WheresTheLove. The use of the hashtag in the title symbolizes the digital mindset that people in 2016 currently live in. The internet had not yet taken off in 2003 and there wasn t an obsession with social media at this point. In 2016 everything is focused around the concept of instant information. When something significant happens in the U.S., the majority of people have that information in hand instantly through their handheld technologies. The increased use of technology has sparked a surge of social movement. This can be seen through multiple campaigns, one example would be the Black Lives Matter movement. The Black Lives Matter movement first began following the death of Trayvon Martin and the acquittal of the officer who shot him. This movement began with a simple hashtag. Now in 2003 the hashtag was better known as a pound sign whereas in 2016 it is a classic trademark of social media platforms. The hashtag allows one s beliefs to be categorized into a short statement. Supporters of the statement will then begin using the hashtag, thus causing a snowball effect. As the hashtag #blacklivesmatter began to swarm platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, awareness grew of the movement. • 42. The Role Of Taylor Greer In Barbara Kingsolver s The Bean... Marietta Greer, also known as Taylor Greer in the book The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver, started a new life by leaving her home in Pittman County, Kentucky to avoid motherhood. Her life was full of ups, downs, blessings, hardships, dramatic events, and mixed feelings. The people she met in this new life such as Lou Ann, Mattie, Estevan, Esperanza, and especially Turtle, have created a positive outlook on Taylor s life. Without ever meeting them, Taylor s fresh new life would have been dull and confusing. Though there are also some memories that may have followed her as a fear, but it soon became a lucky asset to have in her life. The tractor tire, the photo of Turtle during their first night together, and Turtle s adoption document are each a significant symbol of Taylor s journey. Tires were apart of Taylor s story since she was a young age when she was called Missy. She had a fear of them since then after a tractor tire explosion incident and spent her life trying to avoid working with tires. Later on in her new life, we notice that she starts to encounter them every day. The tires on her car were the things that decided how her new life would turn out. She decided to settle in Arizona because of a flat tire which she had to fix at a nearby tire store, Jesus Is Lord Used Tires. While her wheels were getting checked, she stated, All those tires made me feel nervous (Kingsolver 54). This shows that she still carries her fear of tires, yet later she finds herself ...
