The essay examines the depiction of mind-body interactions and concomitant notions of wholeness in Adam Bernd's 'Eigene Lebens=Beschreibung' from 1738 as well as its sequels from 1742 and 1745. Rather than understanding Bernd's painstaking protocol of physical ailments and associated mental afflictions as a mere precursor to the anthropological-and, concurrently, literary-ideal type of the "whole human" which comes to dominate discourses around 1800, the essay situates Bernd's work within the various spiritual, social, and medical disciplinary regimes which register human life in the first half of the 18th century. Among the often contradictory conceptions of unity produced in each of these domains of knowledge, the juridical and philosophical concept of "personhood" is identified as both an organizational tool and the telos of Bernd's project.

Entgegen einer Vorstellung von ‚Theorie‘ als einer bestimmten formalen Tradition skizziert der Beitrag ein Verständnis von Theorie als eine je konkrete Konfiguration von Singularienorientierung und Artikulation, die ein spezifisches Tempus aufweist. Hiervon ausgehend wird die theorietypische Wendung ‚immer schon‘ bzw. 'always already‘ oder 'toujours, déjà‘ untersucht, der in den Werken Martin Heideggers, Jacques Derridas sowie Louis Althusser besondere Bedeutung zukommt. Am Beispiel Althusser wird deutlich, dass sich die Geschichte des Topos nicht als lineare Einflussgeschichte rekonstruieren lässt, sondern nur in Sequenzen unsicherer Kausalität. Theoriegeschichte, so lautet das vorgebrachte Argument, ist ihrerseits auf die Überwindung eines Ursprungsdenkens angewiesen, wie sie im topischen Temporalmarker 'always already‘ angezeigt ist.

Der Aufsatz untersucht Pierre Machereys Beiträge zur materialistischen Literaturtheorie. Anhand seiner Arbeiten zur ‚literarischen Produktion' aus den 1960er und 1970er Jahren wird Machereys Intervention besonders hinsichtlich seiner Kritik an der Widerspiegelungsästhetik und am Strukturalismus beschrieben. Dabei identifiziert der Beitrag die Übernahme von Althussers Konzeption gesellschaftlicher Produktion und deren radikaler Prozessorientierung in Machereys Arbeiten sowie das Problem der Historizität literarischer Produktion, das sich aus dieser Übernahme ergibt. In einem Text Machereys aus den 1990er Jahren, so wird schließlich argumentiert, wird dieses Problem zugleich verschärft und gelöst: in der Fassung literarischer Produktion als Reproduktion.
Cet article examine les contributions de Pierre Macherey à la théorie matérialiste de la littérature. En se basant sur ses travaux des années 1960 et 1970 sur la 'production littéraire', l'intervention de Macherey est décrite en particulier en ce qui concerne sa critique de la théorie du reflet et du structuralisme. L'article identifie la reprise de la conception de la production sociale d'Althusser et de son orientation radicale vers le processus dans les travaux de Macherey ainsi que le problème de l'historicité de la production littéraire qui résulte de cette reprise. Dans un texte de Macherey des années 1990, ce problème est à la fois aggravé et résolu : dans la version de la production littéraire comme reproduction.
The essay examines Pierre Macherey's contributions to materialist literary theory. Based on his work on 'literary production' from the 1960s and 1970s, Macherey's intervention is described, particularly with regard to his critique of the aesthetics of reflection and structuralism. The article identifies the adoption of Althusser's conception of social production and its radical process orientation in Macherey's work as well as the problem of the historicity of literary production resulting from this adoption. The subject of this article are spatiotemporal manifestations of the future as they are formed in various genres of German-language Baroque literature. Using three examples-pastoral (Martin Opitz), religious poetry and hymns (Anna Ovena Hoyers), as well as Trauerspiel (Andreas Gryphius)-the authors examine how imminent, expected, planned, anticipated, or feared states are explored in 17th-century works, i.e., how they are composed processually and medially, and which spaces and places they occupy in each genre.

The essay draws out a conversation between Louis Althusser's theory of ideology and his often-misunderstood notion of »symptomatic reading.« This conversation is staged by examining three pillars of Althusser's theoretical intervention: the problem of humanism, Spinoza's materialism of the imaginary, and Spinoza's Biblical criticism. In doing so, the essay identifies a temporal logic of retention in the Spinozism of Althusser and the Althusser school, the productivity of which for a renewed, praxeologically informed materialist theory of reading is finally discussed.

The essay follows the history of tradition of the story "The Blind Witness," from the publication in François Richer's "Causes célèbres" and the subsequent inclusion in the "Neuer Pitaval," to its previous iterations reaching back to the... more
The essay follows the history of tradition of the story "The Blind Witness," from the publication in François Richer's "Causes célèbres" and the subsequent inclusion in the "Neuer Pitaval," to its previous iterations reaching back to the 16th century. Starting from this historical-comparative perspective, the interdependencies of investigative representations and criminal procedure codes are traced, with special attention paid to the various writing practices within the framework of criminal procedure since the 17th century. Taking Georg Philipp Harsdörffer's version of "The Blind Witness" as part of his collections of crime narratives as an example, the article suggests that the demand for truth or truthfulness made by the juridical orders of writing of the time endows several forms of modern narratives with a reflection on the theory of representation.
