There are relatively few studies on the properties of proteins that comprise a major part of the safflower seed. The biochemical and functional properties of these proteins have not been fully discovered. In this study, safflower seed proteins were obtained by isoelectric precipitation in two fractions. One of the fractions (Fraction-1) was obtained at pH 10 and the other fraction was obtained, as the protein supernatant separate from the pH precipitate, by ultra filtration (Fraction-2). Functional and biochemical properties of both of fractions were investigated. Gel permeation chromatography (GPC) was applied to both fractions. GPC shows that high-molecular weight constituents are present only in fraction 1, whereas fraction 2 consists of proteins with lower molecular weights in comparison with protein standards. Sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel (SDS-PAGE) electrophoresis in the presence of mercaptoethanol and SDS with protein weight markers was applied to both of the fractions. The proteins in both of the fractions were separated and stained with Commassie Brillant blue R-250 dye on the PAGE gel. The molecular weight (M(w)) of each protein band was determined graphically by plotting Log M(w) and relative mobilities (R(f)) using GS-300 scanning densitometry and a suitable computer program.

Bitkisel yag uretimi, 12 farkli bitkinin tarimiyla elde edilmektedir. Trakya Bolgesi'nde 3000 kisiyi istihdam eden 61 adet bitkisel y...

The use of certain types of microorganisms or their metabolic products is the basis for the development of new technologies, which on the one hand can contribute to the standardization of the production process and achieve uniform quality, and on the other hand to obtain quality and safe products with extended shelf life. On the world market for food and beverages, today can be find a wide range of commercial, fermented products in which production and sustainability certain microorganisms are participate. The interest in the new methods of biological protection of food, as well as the scientific principles for achieving health of the products has increased significantly in recent years. The increase in the need for quality and health-safe food has led to an increased interest in the use of starter cultures in the food industry, and especially in the meat industry. With the use of the starter cultures, good quality of the products is achieved. At the same time a safe product is obta...

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of foliar fertilizing with different fertilizers on the yield of feranjez, texas and primorski almond cultivar, grown in Valandovo region, North Macedonia. The variants were: 1. Control (untreated); 2. Ever green with Me (55% organic matter, 2% w/w Mg, 2% w/w Fe, 2% w/w Zn, 2% w/w Mn, 0.5 % w/w Cu, 0.5% w/w B); 3. Biolinfa (34% organic matter 3% N, 5.80% K2O); 4. Oligomix (1.20% B, 0.10% Cu, 4% Fe, 1.50% Mn, 0.10% Mo, 2% Zn). Total 240 plants per cultivar were included. At the end, soil fertilizing with the fertilizer Polyfeed 11-44-11+ME (Fe, B, Zn, Mn, Co, Mo) was done (450 kg/ha). Before setting up the experiment, soil agrochemical analyses were done and good fertility with nitrogen and potassium, while medium fertility with phosphorus was determined. The foliar fertilizing had a positive influence on the yield of analyzed almond cultivars. The highest average content of fruit yield (2794 kg/ha for feranjez cultivar, 2699 kg/ha fo...

This research was carried in 2018-2019 in order to investigate and compare the composition of fatty acids of rosehip seeds. Field experiment with two rosehip species and two cultivars (R. canina, R. rugosa, R. rugosa cv. ‘Rubra’ and R. rugosa cv. ‘Alba’) was conducted on an organic farm in Lithuania. The fruits were harvested fully ripened. The amount of fatty acid of rosehip seeds was investigated using a Gas Chromatograph with Split/Splitless Injector Liners. In the all investigated seeds, the dominant fatty acid classes were polyunsaturated fatty acids, followed by monounsaturated fatty acids, and saturated fatty acids. The amounts of total fat (13.13%) and polyunsaturated fatty acid (79.52%) were significantly higher in R. rugosa ‘Alba’ seeds, while total monounsaturated (18.76%) and saturated fatty acids (7.36%) levels were significantly higher in R. canina. Among polyunsaturated fatty acids, the most abundant in seeds was linoleic acid (47.38 to 54.28%), followed by linolenic acid (19.31 to 30.65%). It can be concluded, that the rosehip seeds could be an important source of polyunsaturated fatty acidsAgronomijos fakultetasVytauto Didžiojo universiteta

The aim of this research was to determine the antibacterial potential ofaqueous and ethanolic extract of wild mushroom species: Agaricus macrosporus and Russulavesca. Extracts from R.vesca were characterized with higher values for total carbohydrates and total proteins. Both aqueous extracts had higher antibacterial activity compared to ethanolic extracts. Aqueous extract from R.vesca showed higher antibacterial activity against B. cereus (13.6mm), E.faecalis (12.1 mm), E. coli(16.7 mm) and P.aeruginosa (10.5 mm) compared to gentamicin or neomycin. This study represents a novel starting point for future researchin which mushroom extracts can be used in various industry fields.
