The archaeological works at Velilla’s site (Mocejón, Toledo, Spain) has enabled us to find a small Bronze Age settlement located in the Tagus fertile lowland with the characteristic structures so-called “holes fields”. The material evidences retrieved send us into a chronological frame which is placed at the middle of the second millenium cal BC, concretely to
the earliest phase of Cogotas I in the plateau (called protocogotas phase) a period not very known in the Tagus’ Valley until this moment reason why the Velilla’s excavation researches
suppose a very important contribution.

EnglishInvigorating our Cultural Heritage in rural areas is vital to revitalize small villages, in association with the touristic and hospitality sector. At the same time, we must seek to establish a link between people and the territory where they live. The feeling of belonging to somewher...

"The fluvial valleys, particularly the Tagus Valley, have always been used as natural routes of communication due to conditions and supplyingfacilities that allow the traffic of people, animals and goods, and for concentrating the main urban settlements. Therefore, it’s certain that the human settlement in the proximities obeyed to a priority for controlling those natural routes and connections. In other hand, its location in small elevations over the plain wasn’t only to avoid floods or other natural adversities, but also for the already mentioned route’s control, that would have been working at least as short distance routes since the Middle or Later Bronze Age.
