ABSTRACT This book identifies the short-term and long-term challenges facing the field of computational intelligence (CI). After an introductory chapter, the next six chapters describe challenges resulting from attempts to model cognitive and neurocognitive processes. The next three chapters concern foundations of CI, while the last six chapters describe some theoretical problem and special subareas of CI. The book provides new ideas, helpful discussions of new directions of research, and non-trivial challenges for CI. It should be interesting for both established scientists and young researchers.

Several methods of gaze control of video playback were implemented in MovEye application. Two versions of MovEye are almost ready: for watching online movies from the YouTube service and for watching movies from the files stored on local drives. We have two goals: the social one is to help people with physical disabilities to control and enrich their immediate environment; the scientific one is to compare the usability of several gaze control methods for video playback in case of healthy and disabled users. This paper aims to our gaze control applications. Our next step will be conducting the accessibility and user experience (UX) tests for both healthy and disabled users. The long-time perspective of this research could lead to the implementation of gaze control in TV sets and other video playback devices.

In the paper, fuzzy sets technology is used to find out the levels of the scientific contribution of a scientist or a team of scientists into scientific fields or discipline. Namely, fuzzy logic is applied to describe the fuzzy input and output relations between scientific fields, disciplines, journals and researchers, afterward, the compositions of these relations and the proposed optimistic fuzzy aggregation norm over fuzzy variables are used. Two techniques are applied to show the contribution to the science of the team of researchers graphically; one graphical method uses the radar graphs, and the other one is the application of the t-SNE technique based on the Euclidean metrics in the space of the scientists’ contribution into the different scientific fields. Moreover, the proposed methods are the foundation for the web-software “ScienceFuzz” developed for calculations levels of contribution to the sciences by an individual researcher or by a team of them.
