Urban plan proposal for Sarrià neighborhood in Barcelona. The objective of the work is to develop a plan for the local community in order to:
1. Resolve land-use conflicts
2. Reinforce neighborhood identity
3. Empower the local community
4. Support the better accepted decision: the one that builds more trust and raises more legitimation.

An essay on the rise of modern nationalisms in an era of globalizationt that tries to respond to the global complexities of postmodernity, where an international trend towards homogeneization of politics and societies merges with the revendication of minority regions to emancipate from their nation-states without renouncing of being included in this internationalization process.

After introducing the general reasons for preserving nation states in a globalized era, the paper is centered in the Catalan case to explain the political and cultural causes that may be behind the rise of independentism over the last few years and the desire of Catalans to, however, not be disconnected of the global institutions like the European Union.

Comparative study on the variables that influence in happiness in Sweden and Taiwan. The methodology follows a logistic regression. The results conclude that the most influential variables to life satisfaction in both countries are health, economic satisfaction and social capital (trust and freedom).

El estudio pretende analizar los efectos del capital social y de la percepción de estatus propio en relación a la sensación de satisfacción con la vida. El capital social se analiza según dos dimensiones referidas al valor de la confianza y la frecuencia del establecimiento de vínculos sociales mientras que la percepción de estatus evalúa la posición con la que el individuo se percibe en la sociedad y la percepción de valoración por los demás. El estudio extrae sus muestras de la Encuesta Social Europea 2012. El método para operativizar los datos es una regresión logística jerárquica. Los resultados demuestran que hay probabilidad de que la percepción de estatus propio influya en la satisfacción con la vida de manera positiva y que, independientemente de la percepción de estatus que tenga el individuo de sí mismo, la incorporación de capital social hace aumentar la satisfacción con la vida.

Be SpectACTive! is a European project based on audience development, involving organisations working on active spectatorship in contemporary performing arts. Its members are European festivals, theatres, universities and research centres. During four years, the network implemented various actions willing to develop audiences and citizen participation in artistic choices and creation processes, including partici-patory programming groups, participative residencies, and digital participation. These projects were accompanied by an action research and several practical and theoretical exchanges, including international conferences. This book intends to share the Be SpectACTive! collective adventure, giving a voice to artistic directors, artists, participants and researchers who have been involved in the projects, describing, through case studies and reflections, their successes, limits and perspectives.

The role of national cultural institutes and their European network EUNIC has been crucial in boosting and leading recent transformations occurring in terms of Euro-pean cultural diplomacy. In this sense, the publication of the Joint Communication Towards an EU strategy for international cultural relations of the European Commission (EC) and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy represents the culmination of a renovation process that started years ago. In order to understand ongoing changes, it is vital to comprehend the role of national cultural institutes abroad and their umbrella organisation EUNIC and to trace their development over time, in order to outline possible future direction, especially with regard to EU-LAC cultural relationships. Firstly, this chapter presents a brief historical overview of national cultural institutes and their current structuring. Then, the main characteristics and functioning of EUNIC will be exposed, with a special focus on its collaboration platforms worldwide-the so-called clusters. The author then introduces recent changes occurring in European international cultural relations, by explaining the impact of the Joint Communication of 2016 on the redefinition of relations between national cultural institutes, EUNIC and EU Delegations. New strategic directions for EUNIC and national cultural institutes abroad will be then exposed, taking into account the documentation produced and projects implemented as a result of the new EU strategy for international cultural relations. Finally, the chapter focuses on the current status of cultural relations between EUNIC and LAC, by analysing EUNIC clusters in the region through a mapping exercise. The final conclusions present future challenges for EUNIC and its members in the light of the new EU strategy for cultural diplomacy, even in regard to its possible enhanced relationship with LAC.

El papel de los institutos nacionales de cultura y su red europea EUNIC ha sido fundamental en impulsar y liderar las transformaciones ocurridas recientemente en materia de diplomacia cultural europea. En este sentido, la publicación de la Co-municación Conjunta Hacia una estrategia de la UE para las relaciones culturales internacionales de la Comisión Europea (CE) y la Alta Representante de la Unión Europea para Asuntos Exteriores y Política de Seguridad representa la culminación de un proceso de renovación que empezó hace años. Para entender los cambios en curso, es esencial comprender el papel de los institutos nacionales de cultura en el extranjero y de su organización paraguas EUNIC y trazar su desarrollo a lo largo del tiempo, para delinear la orientación futura, sobre todo con respecto a las relaciones culturales UE-ALC. Este capítulo presenta, en primer lugar, un breve recorrido histórico de los institutos nacionales de cultura y su estructuración actual. A continuación, se exponen las características principales y el funcionamiento de EUNIC, haciendo hincapié en sus plataformas de colaboración a nivel mundial-denominadas «clústeres». Luego la autora introduce los cambios recientes acaecidos en las relaciones culturales inter-nacionales europeas, explicando el impacto de la Comunicación Conjunta de 2016 en la redefinición de las relaciones entre institutos nacionales de cultura, EUNIC y Delegaciones de la UE. Se expondrán seguidamente las nuevas direcciones estratégicas de EUNIC y los institutos nacionales de cultura en el extranjero, considerando la documentación producida y los proyectos implementados como resultado de la nueva estrategia de la UE para las relaciones culturales internacionales. Finalmente, el capítulo se centra en el estado actual de las relaciones culturales entre EUNIC y ALC, analizando los clústeres EUNIC en la región mediante un ejercicio de mapeo. Las conclusiones finales presentan los retos futuros para EUNIC y sus miembros a la luz de la nueva estrategia de la UE para la diplomacia cultural, incluso respecto a una posible relación reforzada con ALC.
