Studying the linguistic and cultural differences between Arabic and English languages has always been and will be a critical point of investigation in the field of translation in the Arabic-speaking world. This paper explores the aspects of linguistic and cultural untranslatability in the Arabic philosophical text and the proper solutions that can be applied to such manifestations of untranslatability. Two comprehensive theoretical approaches under which untranslatability can be addressed were presented, namely, a universalist approach and a relativist approach. After practically translating the initial chapter of the philosophical booklet of Abdelwahab El-Messiri: The Thought of Enlightenment and its Contradictions (1998), the analysis revealed that cultural untranslatability represents a greater challenge than linguistic untranslatability, and that untranslatability in general can be more faithfully handled under a relativist approach to translation rather than a universalist one.
Keywords: translation; cultural untranslatability; linguistic untranslatability; universalism; relativism.

Two principles are maintained throughout the journey of collecting the content: high quality and less quantity. Readings are simply selected from various sources and organized in a way that ensures easy reading without even paraphrasing in my own words. Yet, sources are acknowledged whenever possible so more interested readers can check original sources for more in-depth understanding.
Obviously, I am NOT claiming the originality of the content in this work. I must state that it is NOT a legitimate academic source, nor it should be treated like one either in terms of judgments that it plagiarizes content or relying on it for your academic researches; I have no intention to sell it in any way nor allowing or giving content to do so, and I am aware that it would be considered an intentional plagiarism if I do so.

This is a brief introductory course to Phonetics for college students of linguistics. The main goal is to cover the basics of phonetics from a clear, unambiguous perspective since there is a huge confusion about some aspects of this very sub-field of linguistics, i.e., Phonetics. At the end, I’m just an undergraduate student, for now. So, it’s better to follow with your academic in a parallel way and ask questions, it’s important to make things clearer for you, my cherished colleague.
It is important to state that this course is based on the syllabus provided by the professor Maryeme Ouchen (m.ouchen@uiz.ac.ma), Faculty of Languages, Arts and Humanities, Ait Melloul, Morocco.
