Streszczenie Otto Weininger, austriacki filozof z przełomu XIX i XX wieku, jest autorem pracy, która w swoim czasie odbiła się szerokim echem zarówno w kręgach naukowych, jak i literackich, stając się jedną z najpoczytniejszych prac eksplorujących tematykę kobiecości i męskości. * Kontakt z autorką: wojnicka.katarzyna@googlemail.com 1 Profeminizm należy do grupy społecznych ruchów genderowych, które we współczesnej odsłonie pojawiły się na arenie życia społecznego w latach sześćdziesiątych XX w, jednak jego korzeni szukać można w działal-ności dziewiętnastowiecznych aktywistów, publicystów i myślicieli, którzy ramię w ramię ze współczesnymi sufrażystkami walczyli o równouprawnienie kobiet. Podstawowym celem współczesnego ruchu profemini-stycznego jest doprowadzenie do zmiany społecznej polegającej na całkowitej eliminacji nierówności, jakie występują między statusami społecznymi przypisanymi kobietom i mężczyznom. To z kolei wiąże się z krytyką tradycyjnego paradygmatu męskości opartego na hegemonii i dominacji oraz próbą konstruowania nowych jej wzorców, wpisujących się w model społe-czeństwa opartego na całkowitej równości kobiet i mężczyzn. W swojej działalności profeminiści skupiają się głównie na walce z dyskryminacją kobiet poprzez pracę z mężczyznami i chłopcami – zdaniem aktorów ruchu wszyscy mężczyźni muszą wziąć odpowiedzialność za swoje zachowanie i pracować na rzecz zmiany destrukcyjnej roli męskiej dla wszystkich członków społeczeństwa. W związku z tym zajmują się najczęściej prowadzeniem różnego rodzaju warsztatów, szkoleń czy kursów, podczas których ich uczestnicy uczą się m.in. panowania nad własną agresją czy przełamywania stereotypów płciowych. Ich działalność wykazuje tym samym podobieństwo do tej, jaką zajmują się feministki – prowadzą kampanie medialne, happeningi i akcje uliczne, zajmują się doradztwem i udzielaniem pomocy psychologicznej, organizują różnego rodzaju inicjatywy społeczne, takie jak np. kanadyjska White Ribbon Campaign, będąca dziś międzynarodową akcją sprzeciwu wobec stosowania przemocy przez mężczyzn w stosunku do kobiet. In ihren offiziellen Verlautbarungen distanziert sich die Freiheitliche Partei Österreichs (FPÖ) mittlerweile vom Antisemitismus. Umso heftiger werden hingegen Nationalismus, Fremdenfeindlichkeit und Antifeminismus von FPÖ-Politiker_innen propagiert. Durch diese Entwicklung drängt sich nicht nur die Frage auf, inwieweit die FPÖ ihre zur Schau gestellte Haltung gegen den Antisemitismus für Zwecke einer allgemeinen Fremdenfeindlichkeit instrumentalisiert, die sich in den letzten Jahren verstärkt gegen Zugewanderte aus islamisch geprägten Gesellschaften richtet. Die damit zusammenhängende Frage ist zudem, wie es um die vorgeblich kri-tische Haltung gegenüber dem Antisemitismus von Seiten der FPÖ tatsächlich bestellt ist.

Este artículo tiene por finalidad presentar una revisión sistemática de la literatura sobre los antifeminismos occidentales contemporáneos en el campo de las ciencias sociales, a fin de identificar cuáles son las principales aproximaciones teóricas, las actuales líneas de investigación, los nuevos debates y avances en el conocimiento. Para ello, se ha realizado una explotación de las principales bases de datos académicas (Web of Science, Scopus y Redalyc) a fin de identificar las principales autorías de referencia y la organización del campo de estudio. La revisión bibliográfica realizada evidencia el carácter multidisciplinar del objeto de estudio y su actual relevancia en el campo de las ciencias sociales. Así mismo, se evidencia cómo la agenda de investigación de los estudios antifeministas ha ido diversificándose en los últimos años para dar cuenta de las nuevas expresiones del fenómeno: los antifeminismos interseccionales, los religiosos, los movimientos masculinistas y el ciberantifeminismo, y como el foco del debate pasa de las expresiones organizativas a las causas e impactos.
Abstract. This article presents a systematic review of the literature on contemporary Western Antifeminism in the field of social sciences, with the objective of identifying the main theoretical approaches, current lines of research, new debates and advances in knowledge. A review of the main academic databases (Web of Science, Scopus and Redalyc) was conducted to identify the primary authors and the organization of the field of study. The results show the multidisciplinary nature of antifeminism and its current relevance in the social sciences. It is also evident that the research agenda of antifeminist studies has become increasingly diversified in recent years in order to account for new expressions of the phenomenon, which include: intersectional antifeminism, religious antifeminism, masculinist movements and cyber-antifeminism. This also shows how the focus of the debate has moved from organizational forms of antifeminism to its causes and impacts.

Az írás a társas identitás szociálpszichológiai fogalmának kontextusában értelmezi a „feminista tudatosság” fokozatait, és elhelyezi őket a hagyományos és a progresszív nemi szerepekhez való viszonyaik mentén. Bemutatja azokat a folyamatokat, amelyek az antifeminizmustól a „nem vagyok feminista” pozíciókon keresztül a „feminista vagyok” öndefinícióig elvezet(het)nek. A különféle viszonyulások bemutatásával egy olyan lehetséges fejlődési modellt rajzol fel, amelyben a feminizmus nem pusztán mint valamiféle attitűdök együttese vagy mint azok tárgya, hanem mint egy identitáspozíció jelenik meg. A
téma elvi jelentőségén túl arra a gyakorlati szempontra is rámutat, miszerint a társadalmi változásokhoz kulcsfontosságú lehet az „f betűs szó” identitásként való felvállalása.

»Sie wollen Vater sein und Mann bleiben«-dieser Slogan des »Väterzentrums Berlin«, dem Aushängeschild der engagierten Väter in Prenzlauer Berg, bringt die Gleichzeitigkeit von Persistenz und Wandel in den heutigen Väterlichkeitsentwürfen auf den Punkt: Väter sollen sich um ihre Kinder kümmern, sie pflegen und für diese da sein, also vormals ›weiblich‹ attribuierte Tätigkeiten übernehmen, aber dabei eben »Mann bleiben«. Die Betonung der Männlichkeit fällt schon in der Innenraumgestaltung des Zentrums mit Carrerabahn, Krökeltisch und Boxsack ins Auge (vgl. die Bilder auf http://vaeterzentrum-berlin.de/). Kann der Anspruch so eingelöst werden? Die »engagierte Vaterschaft«, die das Väterzentrum unterstützen will, hat ihre Vorläufer in den ›Neuen Vätern‹ der 1970er Jahre, die »Freund und Kamerad« ihrer Kinder sein und sich auch an ihrer Pflege beteiligen wollten (Pross, 1978, S. 119ff.). Eine vergleichende Studie kommt zu dem Ergebnis, dass der Einstellungswandel zwischen dieser Generation und der ihrer Eltern beeindruckend gewesen ist. Dies gilt insbesondere für die Männer, die sich mental der ›weiblichen‹ Sphäre der Kinderpflege öffneten, während die Frauen auch in der älteren Generation schon überwiegend einer Erwerbsarbeit (zusätzlich zur Hausarbeit) nachgegangen waren: »Der Wandel auf der Ebene der Normen zwischen beiden Generationen ist erstaunlich weit reichend, und er betrifft die männliche Seite, die die weibliche eingeholt hat« (Born & Krüger, 2002, S. 139). 1978 konstatierte Helge Pross allerdings, dass dieser neue »reale Vater dem idealen Vater […] ziemlich fern steht«: »Viele Männer hatten gesagt, der Vater solle sich von den ersten Lebenstagen der Kinder an ihrer Erziehung widmen. In der Praxis scheint diese Beteiligung aber recht begrenzt. En France, en mars 2017, l’éditeur Hatier publiait un manuel scolaire qui utilisait l’écriture inclusive, dont l’objectif était d’éradiquer le sexisme dans la langue et donc dans les mentalités. Les résistances à son application furent nombreuses : l’Académie française, le groupe parlementaire Les Républicains dont était issu le premier ministre français Édouard Philippe, des militant·e·s de la « Manif pour tous » et des intellectuel·le·s se sont prononcés publiquement contre cette tentative d’inclusivité dans la langue française. Dans cette étude, nous proposons d’évaluer en quoi les arguments invoqués lors de la controverse de l’écriture inclusive en France s’arriment à des rhétoriques réactionnaires antiféministes.

La vida de Lina Bo (Bardi) puede interpretarse como un gran viaje, en el que su obra cartografía un mapa de muchos de los sueños que hizo realidad. En algunas facetas, su trabajo se puede interpretar como una arquitectura del cuerpo (mobiliario, moda, disfraces, máscaras y joyas) en la que se produce una síntesis del avant-garde de Europa y la realidad ancestral de Brasil: lo moderno frente a lo popular, el proceso contra el producto. Existe una reciente investigación que revisa este laboratorio viajero realizada por las autoras de esta comunicación, publicada en febrero de 2018, El viaje como laboratorio.
La segunda parte de este ensayo reconstruye el posicionamiento antifeminista específico de Lina Bo, entendido como una cuestión de quienes no necesitan ser feministas porque lo que hay que ser es no machista. Esta sorprendente postura añade, también, una alternativa heterodoxa a los arquetipos masculinos del siglo XX y que como describió Jean David Jumeau-Lafond fueron el rostro de la modernidad. Lina no fue ni esteta, ni dandi, ni decadente.
Pocas son las muestras del pensamiento de Lina respecto a su posicionamiento sobre los feminismos. Ella se declaró antifeminista y trataremos de descifrar esta afirmación a través de tres fuentes: la hemeroteca de la Folha de Sao Paulo (1952-1992) y del Diário de Noticias de Salvador de Bahía (1959-1964) y la Encilopédia da Mulher (1957).

'State feminism' is a concept that refers to the integration of feminists and feminist issues into the state apparatus. Yet, while the feminist movement must regularly contend with an antifeminist counter‐movement, it is worth considering whether a 'state antifeminism' is also present or emerging, and how this presence or emergence is affecting efforts by feminist organizations to address the needs of women and advance women's equality. With this objective in mind, this article focuses chiefly on two Western countries and is based on more than twenty semi‐structured interviews with feminists in Belgium and Quebec, Canada.

This article builds on ethnographic research concerning the Italian pro-life movement and argues for the use of intersectionality theory in studying conservative women. The article suggests, first, that understanding conservative movements necessitates linking their political claims to the social identities of their activists, as would be the case for any other social movement (e.g., feminism). These social identities are as complex and intersectional as any other: a white, upper-class pro-life activist is no less intersectional than a black feminist from a poor background. Concomitantly, there is no unique feminism, but rather a plurality of feminisms, a diversity that intersectionality facilitates the identification of. The same is true for pro-life movements, but scholars tend to use the singular form to talk about conservatism; in this article, I explore the use of the plural to show that pro-life women do not constitute a monolithic group. On the contrary, these women are diverse in terms of their reproductive stories, their working status, and their class, race, and sexual practices, and this diversity translates into different ways of being pro-life. Second, recognizing this complexity does not suggest a natural link between feminism and conservatism. Alternatively, I suggest that a better understanding of conservative women can only be reached if they are studied on their own terms.

Since the emergence of human species, man has tried to develop a strong relationship not only with human beings but also with flora and fauna around him. This relationship on one hand provides him protection, on the other hand cerebral composure. The relationship between man and woman is the most intimate and interesting out of other relationships to discuss here thoroughly. Man and woman are two wheels of the life chariot which last longer than MRF and CEAT tyres. They are complimentary to each other. They support each other. They live for each other and try to make happy each other to bear the mild yoke of life. The existence of man without woman and vice versa is not possible. They cannot survive happily in absence of each other if they have true human heart.

Es ist gut zu wissen, wie Antifeminist_innen und Antigenderist_innen argumentieren, wer ungefähr die Akteur_innen sind. Verstehen kann ein selbstermächtigender Akt sein, wer die Kritiken kennt, wird die eigenen Ziele schärfen. Gleichzeitig sollten wir aber nicht dauernd um den Feind herum drehen, wir sollten  dieser rebellischen Abhängigkeit widerstehen, immer auf den Feind zu reagieren. Ich will ja letztlich vor allem mit meinen eigenen Sachen vorankommen und mit denen arbeiten, die ein Interesse und eine Offenheit für gesellschaftliche Veränderung haben, die Austausch, Inspiration und Herausforderung wollen. Oder wie Lann Hornscheidt es in einem Interview ausdrückte: „Ich will mich nicht abarbeiten an Personen, die in Abwehr sind. Meine Haltung ist: Ich arbeite für gesellschaftliche Veränderungen und nicht gegen Personen oder Akteure“.

Hans Baldung Grien, the most famous apprentice and close friend of German artist Albrecht Durer, was known for his unique and highly eroticised images of witches. In paintings and woodcut prints, he gave powerful visual expression to late medieval tropes and stereotypes, such as the poison maiden, venomous virgin, the Fall of Man, 'death and the maiden' and other motifs and eschatological themes, which mingled abject and erotic qualities in the female body. Yvonne Owens reads these images against the humanist intellectual milieu of Renaissance Germany, showing how classical and medieval medicine and natural philosophy interpreted female anatomy as toxic, defective and dangerously beguiling. She reveals how Hans Baldung exploited this radical polarity to create moralising and titillating portrayals of how monstrous female sexuality victimised men and brought them low. Furthermore, these images issued from-and contributed to-the contemporary understanding of witchcraft as a heresy that stemmed from natural 'feminine defect,' a concept derived from Aristotle. Offering new and provocative interpretations of Hans Baldung's iconic witchcraft imagery, this book will be essential for historians of art, culture and gender relations in the late medieval and early modern periods.

Die Lektüre von Klaus Theweleits Männerphantasien, das im vergangenendieses Jahr bei Matthes & Seitz mit einem langen Nachwort des Autors neu aufgelegt wurde, ist ein einschneidendes Erlebnis, ein über 1000 Seiten langer Blick in einen Abgrund, der zurückblickt. Ausgehend von der (autobiographischen) Literatur, die Freikorpssoldaten der Zwischenkriegszeit verfassten, entwickelt Theweleit hier ein Modell der psychischen und leiblichen Struktur soldatischer Männlichkeit. Dazu greift er theoretisch auf verschiedene psychoanalytische Ansätze, unter anderemu.a. von Margaret Mahler, Wilhelm Reich und Gilles Deleuze & Félix Guattari, sowie auf die Theorien von Michel Foucault und Norbert Elias zurück. Das so entwickelte Modell begreiftsieht den soldatischen Mann als Endpunkt einer zivilisationsgeschichtlichen Entwicklung, die in einer zunehmenden Verpanzerung des Leibes besteht, einer panischen Abwehr gegen das verführerische, auflösende, die Selbstdisziplin untergrabende "weibliche" Fluten der unbewussten "Wunschmaschine". Von der Mutter nicht zu Ende geboren, vonm Vater und dem militärischemn Drill ins Leben geprügelt, benötigen die soldatischen Männer die starre Ordnung von Gemeinschaften wie der Truppe oder dem Volk, in die sie sich einfügen können und die ihren Leib vor der psychotischen Fragmentierung bewahren. Panisch und mordlüstern verlaufen ihre Begegnungen mit der bedrohlichen Weiblichkeit. Alle Frauen werden "entlebendigt": als asexuelle, verehrte "weiße Frau" oder aber als vergewaltigte, ermordete, zu Brei zerstampfte "rote Frau".

This book charts the new phase of global struggles around gender equality and sexual democracy: the ultraconservative mobilization against "gender ideology" and feminist efforts to counteract it. It argues that anti-gender campaigns, which emerged around 2010 in Europe, are not a simple continuation of the anti-feminist backlash dating back to the 1970s, but part of a new political configuration. Opposition to "gender" has become a key element of the rise of right-wing populism, which successfully harnesses the anxiety, shame and anger caused by neoliberalism and threatens to destroy liberal democracy.　

Anti-Gender Politics in the Populist Moment offers a novel conceptualization of the relationship between the ultraconservative anti-gender movement and right-wing populist parties, examining the opportunistic synergy between these actors. The authors map the anti-gender campaigns as a global movement, putting the Polish case in a comparative perspective. They show that the anti-gender rhetoric is best understood as a reactionary critique of neoliberalism as a socio-cultural formation. The book also studies the recent wave of feminist mass mobilizations, viewing the transnational revolt of women as a left populist movement.　

This is an important study for those doing research in politics, cultural studies, gender and sexuality studies and sociology. It will also be useful for activists and policy makers.　　

Antifeminism in Bernard Shaw’s Candida

The critics of Shaw have studied Bernard Shaw’s Candida (1895) variously. G E Brown (1970) opines that in Candida Shaw depicts a triangular relationship among Candida, Morell and Marchbanks. Martin Meisel (1984) reads Candida as a domestic comedy in which Shaw dramatizes family life. Maurice Colbourne (1949) opines that the play is a comedy of simple conflict of ordinary life. J L Styan (1962) holds that Candida is a play of mothering in which Candida chose to mother rather than do anything else. William J Doan (2000) views Candida as a play with an eye on duty. Bernard F Dukore (1973) opines that Candida is a parody of Ibsen’s A Doll’s House. Charles A Berst (1974) states that in Candida emotions and characterisations are far more important than the ideas. Walter N King (1959) holds that Candida is a rhetorical tour de force of Bernard Shaw. Louis Crompton (1969) views Candida as a naturalistic play in which Shaw discuses domestic life of the Victorian society of England. Similarly, Margery M Morgan (1972) states that Candida is a critique of Victorian society that focuses chiefly on home. Arthur H Nethercot (1949) opines that in Candida the problem of the meaning of characters and their relationships forms the backbone of the whole play. However, the feminist of 1890s were campaigning for equal rights of women and New Woman was the key issue of the period that attracted attention of the intellectuals. The this paper therefore, seeks to make a close reading of the play to study Shaw’s reaction against women characters and find out antifeminist traits projected against them.

Manosfera to prawicowy obieg internetowy skupiający mizoginiczne subkultury takie jak obrońcy praw mężczyzn (MRA), artyści podrywu (PUA), Mężczyźni, Którzy Poszli Własną Drogą (MGTOW), czy incele. Panuje tu przekonanie, że feminizm niszczy cywilizację zachodnią, a tożsamość uczestników określa głębokie poczucie krzywdy oraz pragnienie zmiany, wręcz rewolucji. W 2016 roku ta męska przestrzeń gwałtownie się upolityczniła – z entuzjazmem witano kandydaturę Trumpa w wyborach prezydenckich. Tekst opisuje kluczowe wątki manosfery, różnice między subkulturami, a także związek między manosferą a szerszą formacją polityczną, jaką jest alter-prawica. Dyskurs manosfery cechuje szczególny prześmiewczo-cyniczny ton (postironia), częste występowanie form takich jak zwierzenia i porady, a także specyficzne metafory i aluzje kulturowe, takie jak „czerwona pigułka,” czy podział mężczyzn na samców „alfa” i „beta”. W konkluzjach przyglądam się źródłom tego zjawiska – ekonomicznym, obyczajowym, demograficznym i kulturowym. Stanowi ono kontynuację wcześniejszych ruchów męskich, reakcję na kryzys ekonomiczny lat 2008-2010, ale jest też związane z dominacją dyskursu terapeutycznego i tożsamościowego we współczesnej kulturze amerykańskiej.

A chapter in : Lucas Gottzen, Margunn Bjørnholt, Floretta Boonzaier (eds.), Men, Masculinities and Intimate Partner Violence (Routledge)

This chapter studies ‘antifeminist’ discourses identified by participants in a research project on the effects of antifeminism on organisations dealing with women victims of male violence in Quebec, Canada. It focuses on the masculinists discourses affecting the analysis of the interviewed participants. After having defined the masculinist-antifeminist discourse, this chapter analyses the tactics of ‘masculinist’ actors (e.g. socials workers, activists, researchers) mobilised to undermine the expertise of feminist participants. Among the 87 interviewed feminists, many argue that the rhetoric on ‘parental alienation’ and the ‘false memories syndrome’, as well as the ‘symmetry of violence between partners’, undermined the legitimacy of their analysis on male violence against women. The masculinist discourses on violence against intimate partners thereby become intertwined with the rhetoric implying that feminists’ analyses are too ‘subjective’. Also, it is argued that such antifeminist rhetoric leads to believe that male-perpetrators of violence against women are not responsible for their deeds. Finally, this chapter recalls the importance to consider masculinist-activists’ explicit task of fighting for the preservation of white heterosexual male supremacy to better understand their discourses about intimate violence.

L’antifemminismo è un fenomeno di rilevanza globale, che ha ricevuto particolare attenzione negli ultimi anni grazie a una presenza sempre più ampia e aggressiva nel world wide web. L’articolo indaga un’articolazione delle organizzazioni antifemministe, i cosiddetti movimenti per i diritti degli uomini (Men’s rights activists - MRAs) in Italia, analizzando i loro discorsi, l’immaginario, le rappresentazioni che trasformano le  tradizionali retoriche misogine e convergono verso i movimenti suprematisti, nazionalisti e di estrema destra.

Taking inspiration from responses in focus groups and an on-line survey in which feminists shared their experiences about antifeminism in their daily life, this paper demonstrates that everyday activism involves two protagonists confronting each other, in this case a feminist and an antifeminist. Focusing on feminists' perceptions, emotions and tactical reactions, this paper also shows how these confrontations are not necessarily limited to one or two attacks and counterattacks and how they can be influenced by the presence of a 'third party' (other men or women, other feminists or antifeminists). In order to shed light on these conflictual dynamics, the question of antifeminist 'humor' and its effects on feminists is discussed more in depth. Finally, we show that there is a significant relation between public or organized activism and everyday activism, for both the social movement and its countermovement.

In this chapter we consider how social media platforms have produced new
spaces for debates over feminism. The undeniable mass uptake of feminism via social media shows us that self-identified feminists are fighting against antifeminism in ways that enable mass participatory audiences via platforms such as Twitter. In particular, we explore how social media feminist humor and irony are used as rhetorical and debating strategies to challenge problematic arguments against or about feminists by re-staging anti-feminist claims as absurd, ridiculous, and illogical. We argue that humorous posts play a central role in increasing feminist
audiences and mobilizing feminist connectivity (Papacharissi 2012), collectivity, and solidarity. To demonstrate this, we explore three different manifestations of social media feminist humor that challenge rejections of feminism or antifeminism. First, we look at the hugely popular Twitter account @NoToFeminism, which posts witty rejoinders to antifeminist discourses, and was created specifically to parody the #WomenAgainstFeminism movement (see Cohn, this
volume), and has amassed a large following and popularity beyond social media into the mainstream publishing market. Next, we examine the Twitter hashtag #FeministsAreUgly, interrogating how feminists have intervened into the sexist logic that women are feminists because they are sexually undesirable to men. We explore how hashtags can be co-opted in ways that mutate far outside their original aims, given that the hashtag became a space that reinforced Eurocentric, (hetero)normative beauty norms its founders intended it to interrogate. Finally, we explore “misandry” posts which ironically present female superiority in an attempt to parody anti-feminist claims that feminists are man-hating. This tongue in cheek action can be considered a way of mocking willful misunderstandings
of feminism. We also consider whether some of the memes celebrate violence against men in gender binary and essentializing ways. Overall we argue that social media affordances offer women opportunities to engage with and defend feminism in novel and exciting ways that complicate claims that our media culture is overwhelmingly postfeminist and that we are living in a moment that marginalizes sustained feminist political dialogue and critique.

Wird Pegida hauptsächlich als eine nationalistische und rassistische Bewegung wahrgenommen, die  vorwiegend „den“ Islam, Geflüchtete und einen versteckten Antisemitismus als Feindbilder bedient, so wird doch kaum rezipiert, dass der überwiegende Teil von Pegida-Aktivist*innen männlich ist und welche Rolle dies für den Anschluss an Pegida spielt. So werde ich in meinem Vortrag darauf eingehen, warum Pegida gerade im Kontext hegemonialer Männlichkeit besonders attraktiv ist und Antifeminismus und Anti-Gendermainstreaming als ideologische Bindeglieder nicht unterschätzt werden sollten. Aus einer psychoanalytisch-sozialpsychologischen Perspektive werde ich zeigen, dass dem eine Abwehr des Weiblichen durch männlich-hegemoniale Sozialisationserfahrungen zugrunde liegt.

Antisemitischen und sexistischen Stereotypen ist gemeinsam ist, dass sie die Grenzen der Heteronormativität und Genderbinarität überschreiten. Jedoch auch auf anderen, entlegeneren Gebieten wirkt die ideologische Verschränkung von Antisemitismus und Sexismus, etwa im gesellschaftlichen Umgang mit Natur oder in der ideologischen Externalisierung der kapitalistischen Ausbeutungslogik im antisemitischen Stereotyp des „Geldjuden“, das regelmäßig in Verbindung mit Diskursen über Prostitution, Emanzipation und intellektueller Ungebundenheit. einhergeht. Diese Konstellationen stehen im Zentrum dieses Kapitels: an den widersprüchlichen Zuschreibungen von Natur und Antinatur, Produktivität und Unproduktivität, Stärke und Schwäche wird das Ineinandergreifen von Antisemitismus und Sexismus entfaltet. Beide Ideologien gewinnen gerade aus dieser Verschränkung ihre gesellschaftliche und individuelle Wirkmächtigkeit.

: A partir de debates como los de la legalización del aborto, del lenguaje inclusivo y de la implementación de las ley de educación sexual integral se ha producido en Argentina y en ciertas zona de Latinoamérica una reactivación de movimientos femeninos antifeministas que existieron desde los orígenes de la militancia de mujeres. Este artículo intenta dar cuenta del papel cumplido por la idea de “amor romántico” en los orígenes de este tipo de activismo femenino aún poco explorado. Para lograr este objetivo analizaré ciertos textos centrales de Gina Lombroso, la intelectual de orígen italiano que mayor impacto tuvo en el despliegue de argumentos reactivos a la emancipación de la mujer. Teniendo en cuenta la amplia circulación y recepción en la región de los textos de Lombroso, hija y discípula de Cesare Lombroso, haré foco en la configuración afectiva del orden femenino ejecutada por Lombroso a la hora de asociar amor romántico, descorporización, felicidad y sentimentalidad con el rechazo a las luchas por la ampliación de la ciudadanía hacia las mujeres. Recordemos que, tal como señala Giddens, en el amor romático hay un predomino del amor sublime por sobre el ardor sexual asimilado al deseo. Es de modo consistente con esta distinción que, tal como argumenta Lombroso, si las mujeres encarnan ese amor sublime, a los hombres les corresponde hacer lo propio con el deseo. Se trata de una distinción, consustancial a la caracterización del amor romántico, que no hace más que fortalecer las relaciones jerárquicas entre hombres y mujeres; en este caso haciendo de este afecto algo casi estrictamente femenino: sentimental, asociado al alma y no al cuerpo, generador de felicidad, y experimentado a partir de un rechazo a la irracionalidad. La subordinación de los intereses femeninos en aras de algo superior –en este caso, la idealización del amor- pone, como suele suceder, estandares sumamente elevados para las mujeres: centralmente, fidelidad, sacrificio, sumisión y compromiso. Busco aquí hacer foco en el modo en que desde esa etapa emergente se trató de crear un campo político atravesado por afectos en tensión capaces de objetar por paradójicas e irracionales las demandas feministas a partir de la centralidad otorgada al amor romántico.

In recent years, we have witnessed an online backlash against feminism (Menzies 2008). This backlash is mobilizing a loose confederacy of interconnected communities from more traditional men’s rights activists (MRAs) to the new misogynistic techno-cultures of the Manosphere (Nagle 2015). Despite their differences, in all of these groups, feminism is reconfigured as intrinsically prejudicial and threatening towards men (Blais, Dupuis-Déri 2012) and labelled as nothing more than misandry (Marwick, Caplan 2018). The use of misandry as synonym for «man-hating» serves both misogynist subcultures and more moderate men’s rights interests, in that it allows these groups to appropriate the language of identity politics in order to place men as the silenced victims of a reverse discrimination in every political, economic, and social arena (Savran 1992; Farrell 1993) and reinforce their sense of aggrieved entitlement (Kimmel 2015). Situating their belief system in a social vacuum that fails to consider intersecting social dynamics, MRAs construct an over-simplified cultural model of the social world that isolates practices and phenomena that they believe are uniquely harmful to men (Schmitz, Kazyak 2016). In this way, their anti-feminist rhetoric takes the form of a neoliberal and seemingly neutral strategy that avoids any analysis of structural inequalities in favour of a commonsense celebration of individual choice for women and men (Nicholas, Agius 2018). This «pro-male» anti-feminism (Ging 2017) is indicative of a wider complex backlash (McRobbie 2004) that both accepts some of the precepts of feminism such as the principle of liberal equality, alongside a strong rejection of feminism as a label and political project.

Given the theoretical framework outlined above, the general aim of this study is to explore the Italian MRA and Manosphere online network to take stock of the current situation and the risk it represents for feminism. More precisely, the study aims to unveil some of the key drivers of anti-feminist ideologies and will be guided by the following questions: which representations of feminism and feminists emerge in Italian online communities and how they spark criticism of feminism? Is neoliberal feminism a specific target of this criticism? Are MRA and manosphere communities both represented online and, if so, how are they bound together? How does the Italian situation differ from the international one?

Hans Baldung Grien’s placements of the aged witch figure in the backgrounds of several of his witchcraft tableaux encourage the viewer’s perception that she be identified as the hidden font of  evil in these scenes. It seems implied that she is the fulcrum of all the lustful activity enacted by the more youthful witch figures; she often completes the circuit of movement animating the composition, connecting and supporting the wilder gestures of the other figures. Placed in the central back- ground or between the more youthful, principal figures of many of Baldung’s witchcraft compositions, the aged hag is positioned so as to wield an uncanny command over the younger witches depicted in classically-constructed scenes of the conduct of maleficia. Her figure lurks in the background or looms among the younger witches, commanding the audience’s imaginations, causing viewers to see her as somehow focal to the malefic activities taking place. This is not to be wondered at; references to toxic, ageing feminine physiology in printed editions of classical authors and the Church Fathers were in ever-widening circulation among Baldung’s humanist milieu in Strasbourg, and these tomes discussed the post-menopausal feminine body as, among other characterizations, the fearful repository of pollution and lust.

Crisis or crisis rhetoric? Historian Judith A. Allen and others, including Mary Louise Roberts, have warned that the notion of a “crisis of masculinity” clouds our understanding of complex social phenomena.

They argue that the concept of “crisis,” which implies serious upheavals and profound transformations, does not accurately describe the reality of relations between sexes and the condition of men in society.

Little research has been done on antifeminism, whether from the perspective of the sociology of social movements or even of women's studies. Yet, a particular form of antifeminism has been at work for a number of years, more specifically, masculinism. Its discourse claims that men are in crisis because of the feminization of society and it mobilizes primarily around issues pertaining to the interests of fathers and spouses (divorce laws, alimony, child custody, violence). This article examines two alternative explanations of the masculinist phenomenon: (1) men have real problems, and masculinists scapegoat women and feminists instead of targeting the true causes of their problems, such as the transformation of the labor market; (2) masculinism is openly opposed to feminism and is thus the result of countermovement dynamics. While referring to other contexts (UK, the USA, etc.), our paper takes the situation in Québec (Canada) as a case study. The feminist movement and masculinism are dynamic there and stand in sharp opposition to each other. The essay applies the theory of countermovements in order to better understand the oppositional relationship between these two political forces and demonstrates ultimately that masculinism's effects on feminists are at times paradoxical.

Au moment où de nombreux catholiques s’engageaient contre la « théorie-du-genre » et le projet de loi d’extension du mariage aux couples de même sexe, se sont multipliées au sein de l’Eglise catholique les propositions pastorales en non-mixité à destination d’hommes adultes ayant pour thème la masculinité. Cette orientation pastorale semble être la dernière pièce d’un dispositif réactif visant à contrer les effets sociaux et ecclésiaux de la « démocratie sexuelle », soit de la promotion culturelle et législative de l’égalité entre les sexes et les sexualités, l’ultime registre d'un répertoire d'action collective extrêmement cohérent a posteriori mis en œuvre par un « catholicisme d’identité » minoritaire, mais en lutte pour une hégémonie interne et externe.
En effet, ce « catholicisme d’identité » s’est fortement développé au cours des dernières décennies face et en opposition à un « catholicisme d’ouverture », présent sur le devant de la scène dans les années 1970-1980 et porté par des classes moyennes modernisatrices. Ce pôle d’identité a récemment trouvé dans la lutte contre le mariage homosexuel une fenêtre d’opportunité pour investir le débat public. Il a su, à cette occasion, imposé son cadrage en se basant explicitement sur les principes du « combat culturel » emprunté au gramscisme. A cette occasion encore, il a su s’imposer au cœur de la lutte politique par une pratique d’entrisme au sein des principales entreprises partisanes via les courants Sens Commun chez Les Républicains et Les Poissons Roses au Parti socialiste, en s’appropriant là explicitement aussi une stratégie développée par ses adversaires politiques, à savoir le trotskysme. Il restait néanmoins à cette minorité catholique à réarmer l'idéologie du différentialisme sexuel parmi ses propres militant.e.s et sympathisant.e.s, dans une société où l'inégalité ne peut plus être défendue ouvertement. Alors que l’Église, « qui comptait sur un système de transmission religieuse héritée des parents relevant du type église dans la typologie wébéro-troeltschienne, ne peut plus le faire dans les sociétés occidentales contemporaines », ce catholicisme identitaire, mais minoritaire, tend à exiger une participation de type secte (communauté de virtuoses), non seulement de la part de ses prêtres, mais aussi et surtout de la part de ses laïcs.

Sans doute à lui seul ce chapitre pourrait constituer une sorte de résumé ou de condensé de cet ouvrage collectif. Théories du complot, alterscience, dénégation du changement climatique, contestation du massacre organisé des juifs européens ou bien encore propositions industrielles aventureuses, toutes ces thématiques se cristallisent autour de Lyndon LaRouche, personnage secondaire mais néanmoins important de la vie politique américaine depuis les années 1970.

Buffy Summers, the teenage heroine of the television show Buffy the Vampire Slayer (BtVS), presented the horror genre with a third wave feminist icon. Over seven seasons, BtVS contradicted the standard horror model and shattered the damsel in distress trope repeatedly. This program was revolutionary in its female representations and paved the way for shows like Veronica Mars, Alias and Covert Affairs. However, creators and fans ignore significant anti-feminist themes and plot lines within the show. This paper critically examines the negative elements within the BtVS world that include homogenized character developments, sustained violence against women, sexual assault as entertainment, and generalized policing of sexuality. With a focus on the relationship between Buffy and the vampire Spike, this paper contextualizes the violence inflicted against Buffy, the sexualized danger she is entrenched in and the patriarchal messages that are still filtered through Buffy to the viewers. Exchanges are reconstructed and reimagined to present intersectional alternatives to the established cannon that push the boundaries of feminist representation and embolden viewers to expect more than empowered lip service. Calling for a Buffy reboot that creates a truly diverse archetype that encompasses the ideals of feminist, gender and queer scholarship and creates a heroine we can all identify with.

En écho à diverses controverses sur le genre et sur la race qui ont traversé le champ politique français au cours des dernières années, les savoirs minoritaires se sont heurtés à une nouvelle vague de fortes résistances. En analysant les permanences rhétoriques du discours anti-minoritaire ainsi que ses spécificités actuelles (opposition à ladite « théorie du genre », rejet de la catégorie de race), l’article démontre que la pensée de Colette Guillaumin demeure pertinente pour analyser la logique et les enjeux de cette offensive. Dans tout son oeuvre, Guillaumin a réfléchi aux oppositions que soulève la prise de parole minoritaire et a contribué à forger les concepts ciblés par les attaques en cours (minoritaire, race, racisation).
