Cure

Cure, cures, curing, and cured are poorly defined in both conventional and all current alternative medical practices. There is no general theory of cure, much less a theory of cure that is accepted by various medical practitioners. This paper presents the foundation of a theory of cure, beginning with elementary illnesses and laying a framework to understand and cure compound illnesses, and to recognize cures when the occur or are achieved.

Matthew Lukwiya, primario dell'ospedale di Lacor in Africa, contagiato e ucciso dal virus Ebola, sul cui espandersi nella regione aveva per primo lanciato l'allarme, ovviamente inascoltato dalle autorità di Kampala. Un tipico esempio di eroico operatore che drammaticamente ci fa rievocare la profonda e simbolica frase di Ionesco che suona più o meno così: "Un bravo medico deve morire con il suo paziente, se non è in grado di curarlo!". Suona nel nostro paese dove abbiamo un dottore ogni 177 abitanti, in totale 370.000 medici, compresi i dentisti, un record mondiale e suona in Sudan dove ci sono dieci dottori e altrettanti ospedali fatiscenti per circa sei milioni di abitanti. Già la campana, quella che mette fine alla nostra malattia più lunga. Forse è per questo che io mi sono sempre ritenuto poco sano, sarà il male di vivere, sarà il male del secolo, sarà la noia, sarà lo spleen, sarà la stupidità, ma? In ogni caso, qui da noi, per diffondere una certa competenza sanitaria sono previsti dei cicli di lezioni da tenersi nelle scuole a cura dei giovani medici disoccupati; mentre per il terzo, quarto e quinto mondo dovremo aver fiducia nelle previsioni dei guru dell'information technology i quali ci assicurano che tra qualche anno le potenzialità dell'e-learning online renderanno possibile il superamento di tutte le barriere ed il diffondersi di qualsiasi conoscenza. Forse però per gli ospedali ci vorranno un po' più di anni! A proposito, nel frattempo, proprio in questi giorni si apre il maxi-processo alle truffe sanitarie firmate dal Prof. Poggi Longostrevi, un medico ormai già morto suicida; gli imputati sono 248, in gran parte medici, ma anche politici e funzionari dell'ambiente della sanità milanese.

La diversidad afrocolombiana entreteje prácticas culturales en salud específicas. Los sanadores tradicionales son poseedores de una costumbre milenaria en el cuidado de la salud. Gozan del reconocimiento, la confianza y el respeto de sus comunidades, pero son desconocidos o ignorados en las instituciones de salud y en el mundo profesional. Objetivo: describir las prácticas de cuidado realizadas por los sanadores tradicionales (remedieros y parteras) en una comunidad afrocolombiana en Guapi, Cauca, Colombia. Método: el estudio etnográfico utiliza observación participante y entrevistas en profundidad con tres remedieros y tres parteras. El análisis se realizó de forma inductiva e interpretativa. Resultados: los hallazgos evidencian diversos métodos de curación relacionados con el uso de hierbas, maniobras, fórmulas especiales y rezos, entre otros. "Clustering is said to be one of the most complex, well-known and most studied problems in data mining theory. Data clustering is the process of grouping the data into classes or clusters, so that objects within a cluster have high similarity in comparison to one another but are very dissimilar to objects in other clusters. The increasing enrollment of students at Batangas State University (BatStateU) equates to increase of students’ database which can be mined to discover patterns in large data sets. Patterns extracted can be converted to understandable information that can be useful to the organization. A popular data clustering algorithm known as Clustering Using Representative (CURE) was implemented using C# programming language to cluster the students’ database of Batangas State University."

This is a revised version of the paper originally published as A Definition and Exploration of Cure. The revision completed on March 30, 2020, brings the paper into coordination of concepts published in the paper A Theory of Cure, most specifically, the inclusion of the concept of PRESENT CURE required to cure any illness.

The light-curing technique is relevant to reduce the degree of polymerization shrinkage, improving clinical and esthetic success of composite resin restorations. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate in vitro the effect of four light-curing techniques on depth of cure of a composite resin. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Ten specimens of a composite resin were made in cylindrical cavities prepared in PVC plates (3.0 X 7.0 mm) for each light-curing technique. Four photoactivation methods were investigated: stepped, ramped, pulse-delay and traditional. Specimens were longitudinally sectioned and polished for microhardness measurements (kg/mm2), which were made at 0.1, 1.0, 2.0 and 4.0 mm from the irradiated surface. Data were subjected to ANOVA and Tukey's test. RESULTS: The effect of factors studied (curing method and distance from the surface) and the interaction of these factors was statistically significant (p<0.05). The traditional method of cure provided higher microhardness values (69.6 ± 2.5) than the stepped (63.5 ± 3.1) and pulsed (63.9 ± 3.2) methods at all depths evaluated, but it did not differ from the ramped method (66.7± 4.4) at 0.1 and 1.0 mm of depth. CONCLUSION: All techniques employed provided satisfactory cure of the composite resin up to the depth of 2.0 mm from the irradiated surface.

Recently, aromatic oil (AO) is one of the substances that is typically used as a processing aid especially for high filler loadings in formulating rubber compound. Aromatic oil has disadvantages in that, it is hazardous to environment, toxic and has been labeled as carcinogenic. In this research, an epoxidised oil (EO) and aromatic oil were used to investigate the effect incorporation of oil onto the SBR/NR natural rubber vulcanizates (NR). From the result obtained, EO showed shorter cure time and scorch time as the oil loading were increased up to 20 pphr of EO. Physical properties such as hardness and rebound resilience of NR/EO vulcanisate were also investigated upon exposure to different humidity level in humidity chamber. At room temperature, the hardness of EO loading onto the SBR/NR vulcanisate is lower than AO loadings. Hardness was slightly decreased with increasing rate of humidity. Today, no medical theory or practice has a clear definition of cure, cures, curing and cured, much less a comprehensive definition covering all curable types of illness and disease. This paper summarizes the concepts of cure published in the book A New Theory of Cure, providing a comprehensive theory of causes and cures for all types of curable illness. Cure is based on cause. We begin by defining and analyzing an elementary illness, having a single cause, cured by addressing that cause. The causal concepts are explored and expanded to encompass acute, compound, complex, chronic, and repeating causes of illness.

Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) is a porous light weight concrete obtained by adding a pore-forming material to a mixture made of finely pulverized siliceous aggregate and inorganic binder (lime and/or cement) and hardened by steam cure. In this study fly ash was used instead of siliceous aggregate and experiment samples were obtained by adding 3%, 6%, 9%, 12% silica fume to the cement. Samples were cured under 1560C and 4 bars and 1770C and 8 bars, and were investigated for compressive strength, bulk density and ultrasound pulse velocity to determine their mechanical and physical properties. Microstructure of samples was observed by using SEM and XRD techniques. Samples’ bulk density values and compressive strengths are changing between 0.6-0.7 kg/dm3 and 2.5-4.4 MPa respectively.

Cure and cured are not defined medically or scientifically for most diseases. At present, medical tests for cured only exist for some communicable diseases.

This paper discusses the current definitions of cure and proposes a comprehensive definition of cure all illnesses, diseases and medical conditions that can be cured.

The study aims to explore systematically the ideas of cure among young adults prior to psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Forty-six individuals aged 18 to 25 years who applied for psychotherapy underwent the Private Theories Interview (PTI). Twenty distinct categories of ideas of cure were identified. Based on these categories, a theoretical model was constructed with the dimensions, Approaching–Distancing and Doing–Receiving. Individuals were classified into types using “ideal type analysis.” Seven ideal types were formed: Processing and Understanding, Mastering Through Own Will and Action, Talking, Discordant Ideas, Incoherent Ideas, Getting It Out, and Avoiding or Placing the Solution onto Others. New hypotheses emerged concerning ideas of cure as an important factor for psychotherapy matching, thus potentially predicting premature termination, alliance, and outcome. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The hippies of the 1960s are often hailed as the pioneers of today’s increasingly mainstream environmentalist, organic food and alternative medicine movements but there’s a much longer history of attempts on the part of individuals and groups with utopian aspirations to counter the negative effects of industrial capitalism, agribusiness and urbanization. This article looks at one of those attempts- the Lebensreform (Life Reform) movement that flourished across northern Europe but most prominently in Germany and Switzerland in the late 19th and early twentieth centuries. At its height between 1880 and 1933, Lebensreformers were lobbying for the reform of everything from religious, educational and dietary norms (health food/raw food/vegetarianism) to agriculture (organic farming), clothing (‘rational apparel’ e.g. orthopedic footwear, nudism), sexual mores (free love) and alternative medicine/naturopathy. At the core of the movement a small group of authentic visionaries/ eccentric lifestyle innovators, popularly called the ‘Cabbage Saints’ or ‘Saints of Inflation’ (Inflationsheiliger) led the way by example and by promoting alternative therapies and a range of products designed to radically reform the way human beings relate to Nature and live in the world.

Prompted by a perception that a gay sub-culture developed in the major urban areas of South Africa, and that this formed a threat to state security and to the established mores of society, the Minister of Justice, PC Pelser, appointed a Parliamentary Select Committee in 1968. The essence of the task given to the Select Committee was to provide clarity to the Department of Justice about a definition of homosexual acts as well as the causes, manifestations and extent of these practices. In addition, the Committee had to ascertain whether South African society was ready to decriminalise sodomy and “unnatural” sexual practices. To describe and compare characteristics of adult patients who received treatment for hypersensitivity illnesses by general practitioners (GPs) and classical homeopaths (CHs) over a period of 1 year and examine the statistical predictors of self-reported treatment outcomes.We conducted a survey on 151 Danish adult patients with hypersensitivity illnesses, who chose treatment from one of 13 GPs or one of 10 CHs who participated in the project. The treatments were given as individual packages in the naturalistic clinical setting. Patients completed questionnaires at start of treatment, after 6 months and a year after start of treatment. Response rates for the first, second and third questionnaire were respectively 68%, 98%, 95% for the GP patients and 82%, 98%, 94% for the CH patients.Patients seeking CH treatment in this study are significantly different in gender and education from patients seeking GP treatment. There is a saying, “live and learn.” I have practiced medicine for over fifty years. I have lived and I have learned. I had a private practice in Internal Medicine/Rheumatology from 1968-2008 in San Antonio, TX, USA. While keeping a full schedule, I also taught Rheumatology at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Medical School and volunteered one afternoon a week at the local hospital, providing care to the underserved population. Throughout my practice, I was loyal to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines. I, like all physicians, respected their veracity, then my daughter-in-law in Boston became ill. Top hospitals in Boston and even the Mayo Clinic, where I trained, initially thought she had multiple sclerosis (MS) because of her magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain. But her physical exam was characteristic of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Her symptoms were varied, extreme, and debilitating. There was no offered cure and she was given four months to live. Given no hope, I began to search for something, anything, to explain her symptoms. Because she had lived in Westchester County, New York, USA and then in Boston, I wondered if her diagnosis could actually be Neuroborreliosis (Borrelia Burgdorferi infection) or, as it is commonly known, Lyme Disease.

Digital storytelling is as an arts-based research method that offers researchers an opportunity to engage deeply with participants, speak back to dominant discourses, and re-imagine bodily possibilities. In this article, we describe the process of developing a research-based digital storytelling curriculum exploring eating disorder recovery. We have built this curriculum around research interviews with young women in recovery as well as research and popular literature on eating disorder recovery. Here, we highlight how the curriculum acted as a scaffolding device for the participants&#39; artistic creation around their lived experiences of recovery. The participants&#39; stories crystallize what resonated for them in the workshop process: they each have an open-ended narrative arc, emphasize the intercorporeality of recovery, and focus on recovery as process.
