Flores

El presente estudio realiza una novedosa propuesta comparatista entre la poesía de Miguel Hernández y la poesía de Antonio Gala, centrándose particularmente en dos cancioneros amorosos pertenecientes a los dos autores: El rayo que no cesa (1936) de Hernández y los Sonetos de La Zubia (1981, 1987 y 1997) de Gala. El trabajo, así, se organiza en tres grandes bloques de análisis que conciernen a uno y a otro poemario y que exploran los distintos símbolos comunes relativos a la naturaleza que pueden localizarse en la lectura y en la comparación de ambas obras: la tierra y el invierno frente la primavera; las flores, los árboles y sus frutos; las aves y otros animales. Se pretende, con todo ello, probar la influencia simbólica en la poesía contemporánea española de un poeta por tantos años proscrito y silenciado, Miguel Hernández, y revalorizar, desde una nueva línea exegética, la lírica de un poeta imprescindible, Antonio Gala, habitualmente olvidado dentro de los estudios historiográficos de la Generación del 50.

The isolating languages of Central Flores (Austronesian) are typologically distinct from their nearby relatives. They have no bound morphology, as well as elaborate numeral classifier systems, and quinary-decimal numeral systems. McWhorter (2019) proposes that their isolating typology is due to imperfect adult language acquisition of a language of Sulawesi, brought to Flores by settlers from Sulawesi in the relatively recent past. I propose an alternative interpretation, which better accounts for the other typological features found in Central Flores: the Central Flores languages are isolating because they have a strong substrate influence from a now-extinct isolating language belonging to the Mekong-Mamberamo linguistic area (Gil 2015). This explanation better accounts for the typological profile of Central Flores and is a more plausible contact scenario.

El presente artículo pretende dar otra visión al mundo vegetal. Analizaremos el papel de la peonía en distintas culturas, dándonos cuenta de que no es un simple attrezzo usado por la belleza de sus flores, pues esconde innumerables incógnitas.

This paper examines an obsidian cache offering excavated near the corner of a Postclassic Maya platform structure in Nojpeten, on the island of Flores, Guatemala. The cache consists of approximately 190 obsidian prismatic blade cores and core fragments, but the original number of cores placed in the cache likely fell between 173 and 182, with a best estimate of 177, 178, or 180. The cores were found about 20 cm southwest of the structure in a circular concentration measuring approximately 35 cm north-south by 30 cm east-west and 16 cm deep. The cache is analyzed through a lithic technology framework that focused on three phases: procurement, manufacture, and deposition. Data collection for the procurement phase consisted of sourcing the obsidian using a portable x-ray fluorescence spectrometer and obsidians from three sources in the Guatemalan highlands were found: Ixtepeque, San Martin Jilotepeque, and El Chayal. For the manufacture phase, data collection consisted of documenting core dimensions, degree and type of rejuvenation techniques, and the number and variability of platforms, blade terminations, and blade scars. This information was used to examine the prismatic blade-core technology responsible for creating this assemblage as well as to situate Nojpeten blade-core manufacturing within what is postulated for the greater Petén lakes region during the Postclassic period. To address the deposition phase, this paper examined the archaeological context of the cache by exploring the relationship the cores had with the adjacent structure, and the caching behaviors that resulted in this offering's deposition based on comparison with geographically, temporally, and compositionally similar caches. Analysis of this cache provides information on obsidian source utilization, exchange networks, prismatic blade core manufacturing practices, and caching behavior of the Itza Maya inhabitants of Nojpeten during the Postclassic.

Gambling is fantastically popular among Ngadha people on the island of Flores in eastern Indonesia. The White Coupon lottery, cards, cockfights and board games are ubiquitous, providing a socially acceptable medium through which to use and circulate cash. However, gambling as an economic activity does not sit well with development paradigms of the Indonesian State, Catholic Church or foreign-aid agencies. Cast as greedy and wasteful, gambling evokes images of lazy and nefarious characters. Yet for Flores players who oscillate between agricultural subsistence, sporadic wage labour and a market economy, gambling is a viable economic strategy. This was eloquently explained to me by a Ngadha gambler, who said ‘plant one seed and you may get ten beans, bet Rp1000 you may get Rp10 000 back.’ This enticing logic articulates the rationale for framing gambling as one of a raft of economic activities, albeit illegal, in this relatively remote rural location.

Indonesia is often described by diplomats and politicians as Australia's most important relationship. This report explores the diverse experiences of youth in Indonesia and their role in shaping the social and political landscape in the context of Australia-Indonesia relations. It begins with a brief overview of young people’s role in influencing Indonesia’s political history, and subsequently showcases new research that identify issues faced by young people in relation to the economy (research by Thijs Schut on un(der)employed youth in Flores), religion (research by Hariyadi on Islamic films and self-help books) and environmental education (research by Kelsie Prabawa-Sear on environmental education in high schools). It ends with a discussion of Australia’s engagement with Indonesian youth.

The report is part of a volume published by the Perth USAsia Centre, "New Perspectives on Indonesia: Understanding Australia's Closest Asian Neighbour". The volume was commissioned to contribute to the body of knowledge on Indonesia, especially now that the new president, Joko Widodo has taken office. This volume brings fresh perspectives on Indonesia and what the changes in Indonesian politics, diplomacy, and society mean for Australia - Indonesia relations and for the Indo-Pacific international system. It includes an overview of Indonesia's relations with other Asian powers, its economic potential, and profiles of selected ministers in Joko Widodo's working cabinet.

This article explores the artificial nature and flowers of Italian futurism. With the crisis
created by the First World War, the interests of the avant-garde were geared towards an imaginative totality that exceeded the traditional artistic disciplines and aspired to recreate the world under a new lens through which flowers would be another field of intervention. Artificial flowers were created by Giacomo Balla as a variant of his nature research from painting to the object flower. Fortunato Depero projected a scenario of magical flora, a model that he developed in other plastic works. Under the influence of these and the canonical manifestos, Fedele Azari theorized about artificial flora and contemporary smells. In the thirties, Oswaldo Bot reinterpreted the manifesto of Azari by drawing ninety flowers that transcended the artistic to reach the psychological. The last years are a retour à l’ordre in which futuristic flowers have maintained a balance between futuristic praxis and fictitious classicism.

Este artículo hace un recorrido por la naturaleza artificial y las flores propuestas por el futurismo italiano. Con la crisis provocada por la Primera Guerra Mundial, los intereses de la vanguardia se dirigieron hacia una totalidad creativa que superaría las disciplinas artísticas tradicionales aspirando a reconstruir el mundo bajo un nuevo prisma en el que las flores serían uno más de los campos de intervención. Giacomo Balla creará flores artificiales como variante de su investigación sobre la naturaleza desde la pintura a la flor objeto. Fortunato Depero proyectará un escenario de flora mágica, modelo que desarrollará en otros trabajos plásticos. Fedele Azari, por influencia de estos y de los manifiestos canónicos, teorizará sobre la flora artificial y los olores contemporáneos. Oswaldo Bot en los años treinta, reinterpretó el manifiesto de Azari dibujando noventa flores que trascendían lo artístico para llegar a lo psicológico. Los últimos años significan un retour à l’ordre en el que las flores futuristas mantienen un equilibrio entre la praxis futurista y un clasicismo impostado.

Questo articolo analizza la natura artificiale e i fiori proposti dal Futurismo italiano. Con la crisi causata dalla Prima Guerra Mondiale, gli interessi delle avanguardie si orientarono verso una totalità creativa che andasse oltre le discipline artistiche tradizionali, aspirando a ricostruire il mondo attraverso un nuovo prisma in cui i fiori sarebbero stati uno dei campi di intervento. Giacomo Balla ha creato fiori artificiali come variante della sua ricerca sulla natura, dalla pittura al fiore come oggetto. Fortunato Depero proietta uno scenario di flora magica, un modello che svilupperà in altre opere plastiche. Fedele Azari, influenzato da questi e dai manifesti canonici, ha teorizzato la flora artificiale e gli odori contemporanei. Negli anni Trenta, Oswaldo Bot reinterpretò il manifesto di Azari disegnando novanta fiori che trascendevano l'ambito artistico per raggiungere quello psicologico. Gli ultimi anni significano un retour à l'ordre in cui i fiori futuristi mantengono un equilibrio tra la prassi futurista e un classicismo posticcio.

Hommage à une grande diplomatie syrienne Pin d'Alep, prune, pistache, arum ou rose de Damas et autres ambassadeurs. 1 : rose de Damas ou rosa damascena Ce n'est pas d'hier que la Syrie, ou ce grand Bilad Cham, est dans l'histoire, et par des célébrités qui, échappées de leur territoire d'origine, ont exposées sur leurs laisser-passer, titres de voyage et modernes passeports, une identité explicite. Le pinus halepensis, la rosa damascena, le prunus syriacus ou l'arum tout aussi syriacus, de Syrie, sont, sans doute, de ces ambassadeurs de la terre syrienne, les plus connus, et les plus indiscutables. Désormais, dans une vaste partie de notre planète, ils sont aussi, pour certains, très à leur aise dans leur nouveau terrain, et faciles à rencontrer. Mais...ils ne sont pas les seuls ! Il ne faudrait pas oublier, dans les savantes listes de nos flores, de peut-être plus humbles mais tout aussi présents représentants de la gente diplomatique syrienne souvent installés au pied de ces célébrités : sous l'ombre protectrice d'un pin d'Alep, par exemple ou non loin de hautes tiges drues de la ketmie – un clone d'hibiscus siriacus mais lui aux fleurs uniquement mauves d'où lui vient cette autre joliment appellation de «mauve en arbre», ou cet l'althea-althaea officinalis-un arbuste devenu courant dans les jardins, par successifs marcottages faciles à réaliser, et qui a été pourvu de fleurs aux coloris divers. L'hibiscus d'origine lui, est si robuste et bien enraciné dans la terre argileuse et bien nourricière de 2 Syrie qu'il en garde le nom venu d'un nom arabe : hatmi devenu ketmie et féminin tous les végétaux ont un sexe allez savoir pourquoi-et qui désignerait la guimauve. Enfin tous ces hisbicus de Syrie ou très proches parents sont de la grande famille des malvacées. L'hibiscus siriacus est un ambassadeur aux postes les plus divers, et qui s'est beaucoup déplacé. Il aurait été installé, sans doute en Espagne, à la fin du Moyen-âge, car transporté dans les bagages des Croisés. Et en Afrique, un de ces descendants a fait souche. Il est bien connu par son fruit : le gombo qui passa en Amérique avec les esclaves dont il était le plat principal car il était consommé par les plus pauvres. Sous son nom de karkadé-carcadet ou bissap, il est incontournable en boissons rafraîchissantes, ou infusions et en tisanes réputées pour ses multiples vertus. Mais le gombo entre dans une infinité de plats succulents. L'arbuste porte fleurs et feuilles comestibles, qui depuis la plus haute antiquité, entrent dans divers préparations médicinales.

Vālakhilyas refer to a group of eleven hymns generally counted as an appendage to the 8th Mandala of Rig Veda. They also refer to a group of sages very short in stature, often mentioned as thumb-sized. Their rendezvous with the mighty eagle Garuda described in Mahabharata and  Vālmiki Ramayana offers ample scope to deduce the location where they originally lived. This article deduces the same and finds them to be closer to 'Hobbits' of Indonesia. Further analysis shows that they contributed the Rig Vedic verses that can be counted as one of the oldest and not later additions that many people think.

In 2007, the Indonesian government introduced Generasi, a community-driven development program to address village priorities such as reducing poverty, maternal mortality, and child mortality. When describing Generasi's biggest challenges, program facilitators on the eastern Indonesian island of Flores used a geographic vocabulary of fields (medan, lapangan) and topography (topografi) that evokes the demands of supervising Generasi's implementation across dozens of mountain villages with poor infrastructure. But their geographic language also extends metaphorically to the enduring problems of scale and governance. I analyze these discourses of topography and field in relation to the changing therapeutic landscape of maternal and child health services in the Manggarai highlands of western Flores, then follow Generasi's scalar scaffolding from the meetings and clinics in villages, to the technocratic policy work in Jakarta, and to the academic spaces of Auckland and Cambridge.

La culinaria Guatemalteca es un fenómeno social que debe parte de su complejidad a la alta diversidad cultural y étnica en un espacio geográfico tan reducido, sin embargo, existen algunos factores repetitivos en las etnias coexistentes actuales y puntos comunes que diferencian la culinaria de la región, entre ellas, el uso de flores como ingrediente. Este documento busca profundizar en las flores como elemento de identidad y mostrar el motivo de su uso desde tiempos precolombinos así como definir su relevancia. Introducción: Guatemala es un país que sobresale por su densidad biodiversa, su diversidad cultural y su historia de migraciones y mestizaje. Sin embargo, al profundizar en la culinaria existen varios elementos que se repiten a través de las diferentes culturas. Por un lado, está la importancia del Maíz, con una relevancia incluso mitológica que describe la formación del hombre como la masa de éste y, por otro, están los ingredientes y técnicas entre los que se repite el uso de flores, hojas para envolver, ahumados y gran diversidad de comidas y bebidas con temperaturas elevadas, emanando vapor. La culinaria guatemalteca es una culinaria de profundidad étnica, lo que implica una vinculación fuerte con tradiciones y cosmovisión de trasfondo cultural aún latente. Aunque algunos platillos se hayan popularizado por su sabor sin conocer a profundidad su origen, como los platillos reconocidos como patrimonio cultural intangible, la realidad es que la culinaria guatemalteca es, hoy, una culinaria llena de ritos y símbolos. La cosmovisión del frío y el calor como balance en el hombre, los nudos de cibaque, el uso de fuego, humo y aromas, son algunos de los ejemplos de identidad culinaria étnica y, su trascendencia antecede la época de la colonia. Por ello, profundizar en ingredientes como las flores, usualmente, de sabor amargo (todas de origen mesoamericano) y su posible vinculación con el pasado tiene una relevancia cultural actual. Elementos flores y aromas Las flores han sido elemento repetitivo en la cultura maya, parte de decoraciones, trajes y rituales, además de ser parte del tocado de algunos reyes, de la narrativa (como el popol vuh) y evidenciarse en distintas vasijas y murales. Las representaciones florales distan de ser decorativas, sino que tienen una vinculación con la relación del hombre con la naturaleza y el respeto a los dioses. En el Popol Vuh, considerado el libro sagrado de los mayas, menciona en el pasaje de Xibalba, la recolección de algunas flores como parte de la prueba de los dioses gemelos. Gillespie y MacVean sugieren que las flores mencionadas en este pasaje tienen un valor como flores y no únicamente por la planta, pues son consideradas un premio, entre ellas, el cordoncillo, orejuela canak y vainilla, cuatro flores utilizadas como aromáticos del cacao (Las flores en el Popol Vuh, 2002).

Sikap hidup masyarakat Jawa memiliki identitas dan karakter yang menonjol yang dilandasi direferensi nasehat-nasehat nenek moyang sampai turun temurun, hormat kepada sesama serta berbagai perlambang dalam ungkapan Jawa, menjadi isian jiwa seni dan budaya Jawa. Wayang sebagai pertunjukan, merupakan ungkapan-ungkapan dan pengalaman religius yang merangkum bermacam-macam unsur lambang, bahasa gerak,suara, warna dan rupa. Dalam wayang terekam ungkapan pengalaman religius yang "kuno" seperti tampak bahwa pada tahap perkembangannya dewasa ini, masih berperan pula mitos dan ritus, misalkan pada lakon Ruwat atau Murwa Kala. Secara tradisional, wayang merupakan intisari kebudayaan masyarakat Jawa yang diwarisi secara turun temurun, tidak hanya sekedar tontonan dan tuntunan bagaimana manusia harus bertingkah laku dalam kehidupannya, namun juga merupakan tatanan yang harus dititeni kanti titis. (merupakan hukum alam yang maha teratur yang harus diketahui dan disikapi secara bijaksana) untuk menuju kasunyatan serta mencapai kehidupan sejati. Bagi manusia jawa (manusia yang mengerti sejati) wayang merupakan pedoman hidup, bagaimana mereka bertingkah laku dengan sesama dan bagaimana menyadari hakekatnya sebagai manusia serta bagaimana dapat berhubungan dengan sang penciptanya

Este artículo analiza el proceso de proletarización que se ha generalizado en la provincia de Cotopaxi, especialmente en aquellos territorios orientados a la producción de ores para la exportación. Los asalariados jóvenes en su mayoría privilegian un consumo no productivo con sus ingresos, pues o no tienen tierra o la tienen en muy poca cantidad. No se constata la presencia mayoritaria de relaciones precarias en el empleo, pero en cambio existen muy débiles niveles de organización y de capital social. La transformación que en pocos años se ha producido en este territorio apunta a la consolidación de un modelo empresarial cuya dinámica proviene del mercado mundial.

In villages from Tanjung Bunga peninsula at the eastern tip of Flores island (Indonesia), some Lamaholot people sing in special places, inhabited or not, and at special times. Around four times a year, songs and dances are performed around the nuba nara stones, on the dancing place, located in front of the temple. Singers, wearing white feathers and bells, turn around the stones all night until dawn. When going to their fields, they also sing in front of special trees. In the cultivated land, singing encircles posts, stones, altars. All these places are named « dangerous places ». They are distributed as far as seashores and forests. What relationships do humans experience with these places? What kind of history and stories do these places mark? What potency do they bear? Through the study of performances and the analysis of a large amount of interviews made between 2010 and 2012, the paper shows that singing brings into relation humans between various categories of beings at certain places in every ceremonial domain of this peninsula.

"In the twelfth century anthologies were the most common form in which short poems in Latin such as lyrics, epigrams, and occasional verse circulated in written form among the reading public. Since twelfth-century anthologies are not identical with their twentieth-century descendants, it would be wise to describe the genre in general before scrutinizing Houghton MS. Lat 300 in particular.

The English word anthology derives from the Greek anthologia, which means "flower-collection" or "bouquet." During the Byzantine era the Greek word became a metaphor for a collection of flowers of verse, that is, of small choice poems; the homonym anthologion was applied to hymnals. Although the Neo-Latin term florilegium is a calque of anthologia, the two are not synonyms. Whereas an anthology tends to be a conglomeration of complete texts, florilegium usually denotes wise sayings or memorable passages extracted from longer works. In the Middle Ages various metaphoric terms related to flares were used to describe such collections of extracts. Modem English uses the word excerpt, which sustains the floral imagery since it derives from a verb meaning "to pluck.""

El libro Frutos del paraíso, pintura de flores y jardines en el Museo de Bellas Artes de Álava nos permite acercamos a la representación de las flores y los jardines a través de un gran número de obras pertenecientes a los fondos de este museo. Con ella hemos querido aproximarnos a ese mundo sensible en íntima relación con la naturaleza y con el ser humano, pues tanto las flores como los jardines nos han provocado admiración, constituyendo un ornato para los sentidos.
