Sustainable management of fishery resources is predicated on a foundational understanding of the biogeography of fish stocks and the delineation of stocks into appropriate management units. Despite notable fluctuations in the catch of commercially valuable Pacific cod (Gadus macrocephalus) in South Korea, relatively little is known regarding the stock structure and migratory trends of this species in the region. Here, otolith microchemistry was used to evaluate the stock structure and ontogenetic migratory trends of Pacific cod from five spawning grounds around the Korean Peninsula. Statistically significant between-region discrimination was evident and resolved Pacific cod around the Korean Peninsula into two distinct stocks. Specimens were classified to region of capture using quadratic discriminant analysis of age-0 and capture elemental signatures with overall accuracies of 71.12 and 79.1% respectively, lending support to the notion that Pacific cod demonstrate natal philopatry....

This thesis explores the question of whether correlations between socioeconomic indicators and health and environmental indicators can be observed at the metropolitan level of analysis. Indicators are considered both in terms of per capita values and scale-adjusted values. Scale-adjusted values are a concept based on research on urban scaling which account for the agglomeration effect of population on socioeconomic output and describe a city’s performance in terms of how it compares with expected performance on an indicator for its population size based on the power law scaling of that indicator to population. These indicators provide an alternative baseline for comparing the relative economic performance of cities of different sizes. This study was carried out from September, 2008 to May, 2009 to explore awareness of pesticide users in special reference to potato growers on pesticide safety labels, pesticide handling and application practices that might potentially expose them to chemical hazards. Data was based on a stratified random sample of 471 pesticide practitioners (potato growers, field workers, extension officers, and pesticide dealers) across Nepal’s’ major potato production zones using structured interview schedules. This paper presents social characteristics, understanding of labels and pictograms on pesticide packages, source, preparation, and storage of pesticides, disposal of pesticide containers, practitioners’ preventative measures and understanding of WHO classes of pesticides among farmers, technicians, pesticide dealers and cooperatives. Population models of white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) are used by many states to predict population levels and aid in making management decisions. Delaware did not have a deer population model, so we developed one and used it to investigate the implications of changes to the harvest. We modeled 7 changes to the harvest regime and compared these changes to the base line of no changes to the harvest regime. We used survival rates, reproductive rates, harvest data, a population estimate, and spotlight counts to construct the model. The model scenario began in February 2006 and ran until August 2014. Without changing the harvest regime, our model predicted the state deer population to decrease 28%. Allowing Sunday hunting during the opening weekend of the main firearm season and adding an additional week to the main firearm season caused the population to decline at a greater rate. White-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) are overabundant in many areas, particularly in more developed landscapes where refuges may provide additional challenges for deer managers. Refuges have been widely used to sustain breeding stock in harvested populations and to mitigate other sources of mortality. As the landscape becomes more urbanized, local municipalities and states have implemented safety zones to reduce the probability of a hunter's projectile from accidentally striking a building or its inhabitants. I evaluated if mandated safety zones in Delaware may constitute unintentional refuges. I used Delaware's land-cover data to created buffers (i.e., 46, 91, and 183 m) around each building to mimic current state regulations (i.e., 46 and 91 m) and those in northern New Castle County (i.e., 183 m). Satellite telemetry was used to identify migration routes and stopovers, estimate migration chronology, and describe variation in movements among American Black Duck Anas rubripes marked in Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Virginia between 2007–2009. Thirty-one transmitters each provided data for at least one spring migration. The ducks departed their wintering areas during 18 March–7 June (  ± s.e. = 17 April ± 3.3 days), averaged 3.35 ± 0.3 stopovers (range = 1–5 stopovers) and spent 6.44 ± 0.8 days at stopover sites (range = 0.54–12.2 days), migrated 1,126.1 ± 89.5 km (range = 270–1,396 km), and arrived at inferred nesting areas during 16 April–28 June (  = 9 May ± 3.4 days). Black Duck on the South Atlantic Flyway migrated nearly twice as far ( P < 0.01), made twice as many stopovers ( P < 0.01) and arrived at their inferred nesting areas two weeks later than those on the North Atlantic and Mississippi Flyways ( P = 0.04). As human development continues in coastal areas, shoreline properties adjacent to expansive tidal marsh habitat are increasingly used for access to coastal waterways via long piers (>30 m) over marsh habitat. These tidal wetlands provide breeding and foraging habitat for many marsh birds, which may be affected by the human disturbance associated with long piers. Our objectives were to determine the effect of long piers over vegetated tidal marshes on the relative abundance and species richness of marsh birds. We completed combined passive and callback surveys in tidal marsh habitat at 22 sites with long piers and 24 sites without long piers, May‐July 2005–2006 in Worcester County, Maryland, USA. Pier sites had lower relative abundance and species richness of obligate marsh birds than nonpier sites. Fertilization is the activity of adding nutrients to the soil, either in the form of chemical fertilizers or organic fertilizers. The increase in the price of artificial fertilizers, as well as the increase in the price of fuel oil (BBM) in 2022 will result in an increase in the price of artificial fertilizers at the community level. This condition encourages an increase in the use of organic fertilizers, besides that the community can produce it themselves, it can also create a healthier and cleaner environment. Based on this description, we consider it necessary to carry out the production and application of Lindi Organic Fertilizer on Yard Plants in RT 02 RW 03 West Rumbai Agrotourism Village, Pekanbaru City. The results of measuring the increase in knowledge and skills as well as participants' assessment of the benefits of the activity show that community service activities like this need to be expanded to other RT areas.

Introducing farmers to vaccinations to prevent disease and treatment of free-range chickens so that livestock productivity is more optimal.

El propósito del presente artículo es establecer el impacto que tienen las innovaciones tecnológicas en las personas que forman parte de las organizaciones. Las reacciones involucradas en la adopción de una determinada tecnología, los cambios de paradigmas que involucran y la necesidad de la participación general de los miembros de la misma. Así como también la importancia de las tecnologías de información para la creación de ventajas competitivas en un mercado cada día más globalizado.
