Since our childhood days we see that in the Indian society there is always an over-concern with mathematics. If someone is not good at it the individual is immediately tagged as dumbheaded. So, how did this ritual of false categorizations develop? Find it out in this article!

A module to help highschool students (grades 9-12) to understand the nature and function of sleep and its effects on human health; to experience the process of scientific inquiry; and to recognize the role of science in society and the relationship of basic science and human health.

Cette grammaire de 301 pages et de 153 mille 153 mots (dixit Word) fut commandée par un éditeur pour le public des étudiants préparant le CAPES ou l’Agrégation, ainsi que les professeurs du secondaire. Chaque chapitre a une unité presque totale au niveau de ses références et citations. Toute la grammaire est fondée uniquement sur des exemples tirés d’œuvres littéraires récentes.

C’est un corpus de citations sur un point ou un chapitre de grammaire, toutes issues d’un même auteur qui permet d’éviter l’éclectisme des citations et qui donc permet d’arriver à une vision plus synthétique.

L’ensemble de cette grammaire a été mis en ligne sur le site de l’Université de Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne, à disposition gratuite pour les étudiants en 2007 (et doit toujours y être) après avoir été mis à disposition informatique gratuite des étudiants de l’IUP Tourisme de l’Université de Perpignan à Mende (Lozère) en 2002-2003.

Özet: Araştırmanın amacı, ortaöğretim okullarında şiddetin kaynakları konusunda öğretmen, yönetici ve öğrenci görüşlerini belirlemektir. Son yıllarda, toplumda okulların güvenliği ile ilgili sorunların her geçen gün arttığına ilişkin bir algılama söz konusudur. Okullarda şiddete ilişkin korku giderek artış gösteren bir olgudur. Okul güvenliği ile ilgili çözülmesi gereken en önemli sorunların başında okullardaki şiddet ve zorbalıkla baş etme gelmektedir. Okuldaki şiddet nedeniyle başta öğretmenler olmak üzere pek çok birey kendini güvende hissetmemekte ve dolayısıyla işlerine yeterli düzeyde odaklanamamaktadır. Şiddet nedeniyle bireyler, hem fiziksel hem de duygusal kalıcı bozukluklara maruz kalmaktadır. Yapılan araştırma sonuçlarına göre, birçok genç ergen çatışma ve problem çözmede en etkin yolun şiddet olduğuna inanmaktadır. Bu durumun nedenleri olarak okuldan öğrenci davranışlarını olumlu yönde değiştirmesi gerekirken bazı çocuk ve gençlerin okulla ilgili değişkenlerden dolayı suça bulaşmış olma olasılığını söyleyebiliriz. Çok tartışılan bir konu da, şiddetin aileden başlayarak bir süreklilik gösterdiği; hatta öğretmenlerin söylemiyle “ailede dayağa alışmış çocukları başka türlü kontrol edemedikleri” şeklindedir. Şiddete uğrayan kişiler (kurbanlar), kısa ve uzun süreli uyumsuzluk tehlikesi ile karşılaşmaktadırlar. Bu araştırmada, 2006-2007 Eğitim-Öğretim yılında Konya il merkezi ile 31 ilçesinde öğrenci, veli, idareci ve öğretmenlerden toplam 237784 kişiye uygulanan “Temel önleme Anketi”nin sonuçlarına yer verilmiştir Ayrıca, okullarda şiddet ve zorbalık konusu, buna ilişkin risk faktörleri ve çözüm önerileri ele alınarak, şiddet ve zorbalığa ilişkin kavramsal çözümleme yapılmıştır. Şiddetin ortadan kaldırılabilmesi ve gençlerimize daha kaliteli, daha güvenli eğitim ortamlarının sunulabilmesi için, öncelikle okullarda şiddetin irdelenmesi, sonrasında nedenlerinin araştırılması ve bu sonuçlar ışığında önlemlerin alınması gerekmektedir. Böylece, okullarda eğitim kalitesini ve iklimini olumsuz yönde etkileyen şiddetin çözüm yollarının belirlenmesi için, bilimsel verilere

"Violence and tyranny at schools: Risk factors, services of protect, prevent and interfere: The sample of Konya"
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to investigate the opinions of the teachers, administrators and students about the sources of violence at high schools. In recent years, a perception as to the fact that the problems about increasing of the schools’ safety day by day is under consideration. It is a phenomenon that a fear of violence at schools is increasing constantly. Coping with the violence at schools is the first thing that should be solved about the safety of schools. Because of the violence at schools, many members of the schools, especially the teachers don’t feel safe themselves, and so  they cannot focus on their work completely. Due to the violence, the individuals are exposed to both physical and emotional defects permanently. According to the results of the research, many young adolescents believe that the most effective way in the conflicting and solving problems is violence. We can say the reasons as the fact that a school should change students’ behaviours in positive ways but it sometimes turns out that some kids and young people are possibly criminal because of the changeable things at school. A much discussed subject is that violence starts with the family and becomes permanent, even as the teachers say “we can’t control the kids in another way if they are used to be beaten in the family”. Those who are exposed to violence (victims) come across the danger of maladjustment for a short and long time. In this research, it is given place to the results of “Basic Prevent Survey” as to the study of violence at schools that was applied to the students, parents, headmasters and teachers applied to totally 237784 people in the centre of Konya and 31 districts of Konya in 2006-2007 Educational Year. By the help of this study, the question of violence and tyranny at schools is analysed conceptually about violence and tyranny, dealing with the risk factors about this subject and solution suggestions. To eliminate the violence and present adolescent much more qualified and much safer education, firstly, violence must be explicated, secondly causes must be investigated, and finally precautions must be handled under the view of these results. Thus, it is aimed to make suggestions based on scientific data to the administrators and researchers in order to determine the solutions to violence at schools which effects the quality of education and the climate of the school negatively.

This paper presents a path analysis investigating the direct and indirect influence of lifestyle on academic performance for middle-school and high-school students. The correlation between the following sets of variables are studied: (a) lifestyle and stress; (b) stress and obesity; (c) lifestyle and obesity; (d) lifestyle on academic performance; (e) stress on academic performance; and (f) obesity on academic performance. Adolescent students from 18 schools in India participated in this study. While academic performance is estimated using GPA, questionnaires are used to capture the lifestyle habits of students as well as to assess various forms of stressors such as academic, psychological and health-related. Our results suggest that, a healthier lifestyle is positively correlated to academic performance, while high-stress level has a negative influence. A significant negative relationship is observed between lifestyle and stress, and stress and obesity are observed to be positively related. Obesity, surprisingly, is not a significant predictor of student academic performance for the collected survey data. Our investigation further exposes the need to consider lifestyle in future research.

Nell’A.A. 2020/2021 la Scuola di Alta Formazione “Educare all’Incontro e alla Solidarietà” EIS dell’Università LUMSA di Roma ha predisposto un percorso di PCTO attraverso la proposta pedagogica del Service-Learning a cui hanno aderito quattro scuole secondarie di secondo grado del territorio italiano, con il coinvolgimento attivo di circa cento studenti di diversi indirizzi.Vista la situazione pandemica le attività formative e di riflessione strutturata si sono svolte a distanza (in modalità sincrona) e hanno visto la realizzazione di azioni solidali anch’esse, per la maggior parte, in modalità virtuale. Nel presente contributo vengono presentati quattro progetti di e-Service-Learning realizzati all’interno del PCTO, seguiti da una riflessione sulle percezioni degli studenti in merito al valore dell’esperienza.

Bu araştırmanın amacı Gebze/Kocaeli’nde Anadolu Liselerinde okuyan 18 yaşındaki öğrencilerin gelecek kaygılarının sebep ve sonuçlarını incelemektir. Araştırmanın evreni 2019-2020 eğitim-öğretim senesinin birinci döneminde Gebze’de Anadolu Liselerinde okumakta olan 482 öğrenciyi kapsamaktadır.  Öğrencilerin gelecek kaygısını değerlendirmek için demografik veriler ve hazırlanmış olan “Liseli Öğrencilerde Gelecek Kaygısı” anketi kullanılmıştır. Verilerin toplanması aşamasında kişisel bilgi formu ve  çeşitli envanter ve ölçeklerden derlenmiş 55 soru kullanılmıştır. Anket çalışmasına katılan 482 öğrencilik örneklemin 114’ünde farklı sebeplere bağlı olarak gelecek kaygısı içerisinde olduğu görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin gelecek kaygılarının sırası ile okul, aile ve arkadaş ortamı etmenlerine bağlı olduğu ve öğrencilerin gelecek kaygılarının yaşam kalitelerini düşürdüğü sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca öğrencilerin tek başlarına gelecek kaygısının üstesinden gelmek için çaba gösterdiği görülmüştür. Gelecek kaygısı beslemeyen öğrencilerin geleceğe karşı pesimistik bir bakış açısına sahip olduğu ve bir umutsuzluk hali içerisinde bulundukları görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin geleceğe yönelik kaygı düzeyleri ile akademik başarıları arasında bir korelasyon görülmemiş ancak örneklemi içeren bireylerin %77’sinin akademik başarısının düşük olması Okul Tükenmişlik Envanteri bağlamında yeni bir araştırma sorusu doğurmuştur.Elde edilen bulgular, liseli öğrencilerde gelecek kaygısının azaltılması için çözüm önerileri geliştirmek için kullanılmıştır.

Sa aking pinakabutihing guro, sa aking mga magaganda't guwapong mga kaklase, at isa iba pang nakikinig ng aking talumpati, akin kayong binabati ng isang maluwalhati't maginhawang umaga. Sa talumpati ko ngayong araw na ito, aking tatalakayin ang mga karanasan at pagsubok na kinakaharap ng mga Senior High School Students. Ngunit bago iyon, ano nga ba ang Senior High School? Ano-ano ang mga magagandang epekto nito sa mga estudyante pati na rin sa mga magulang? Ang Senior High School ay ang dagdag na dalawang taon sa hayskul. Kung noon ay hanggang sa ikaapat na antas lamang ang hayskul, ngayon ay mayroong na tayong anim. Marami sa mga magulang ang nagrereklamo at hindi sang-ayon sa programang ito dahil, sabi nila, dagdag lamang ito sa gastos at matatagalan ang pag-graduate ng kanilang mga anak. Isa sa mga magagandang karanasan sa buhay estudyante ay ang hayskul. Naging mas masaya dahil nadagdagan ito ng dalawang taon. Sa hayskul, lahat ng kalokohan, kasiyahan, at kalungkutan ay mararanasan. Sa SHS naman, maninibago ka sa umpisa, ngunit habang lumulipas ang mga araw ay nakaka-adjust ka rin sa iyong bagong kapaligiran.

Sosyal örgütler insan yaşamının her anı için oldukça önemli sistemlerdir. Kişi sosyal örgüt içerisinde belli bir role sahip olarak, bu işlevleri yerine getirerek yaşamını sürdürmektedir. Sosyal örgütler kişilerin duygusal, ruhsal, ekonomik ve bazı çeşitli gereksinimlerini karşılarlar. Bu sebeple kişilerin tüm yaşamları örgütler tarafından çevrelenmiştir. Eğitim, toplumu oluştururken, kişilerin birlikte uyumlu şekilde yaşamaları için gerekli olan paydaş eylemleri kişiye kazandırmayı hedefler. Eğitim kuruluşları doğrudan insanlara hizmet vermektedir. Gerçekleştirilen faaliyetler, örgüt üyeleri ile örgüt kültürü arasındaki güçlü etkileşime dayanmaktadır.  Ülkemizde son yıllarda şiddet olayları oldukça artmaktadır. Bu durum okul sınırlarını da aşarak sosyal ilişkileri tehdit etmeye başlamıştır. Bu sebeple bu çalışmada lise öğrencilerindeki güç ve çatışma davranışları sosyal örgütlenme bağlamında incelenmiştir. Araştırma sonucuna göre örgüt ortamında kendisini güvensiz hisseden bireylerin daha fazla çatışmaya eğilimli oldukları gözlemlenmiştir. Özellikle problemli geçmişe sahip ergenlerde çatışma düzeylerinin yüksek olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

En los últimos años, las bases de la política estudiantil responsable se han visto tambaleadas por el choque de intereses entre los diversos sectores generacionales de la sociedad. Como consecuencia de esta situación, la política, ha abandonado su objetividad para sujetarse a las adaptaciones del contexto colegial, olvidando los verdaderos propósitos del ejercer el ser gobierno. Por lo tanto, los gobiernos estudiantiles modernos obedecen a los intereses populares y la suplantación de las actividades propagandísticas sobre los planes de gobierno y propuestas realmente viables, practicables y alcanzables dentro del marco económico de los partidos políticos.

El Instituto de Educación Media Superior de la Ciudad de México (IEMS) fue creado a inicios del presente siglo para satisfacer una creciente demanda educativa de nivel bachillerato en la capital del país. Su modalidad Semiescolar carece de un plan de estudios propio que se adapte a las circunstancias tanto de estudiantes, como de asesores, por lo que se rige de aquél diseñado en origen para la modalidad Escolar (la modalidad con la que se fundó el Instituto). Así, si bien las asignaturas son las mismas y los contenidos han de cubrirse por igual, las estrategias didácticas deben adecuarse, esto es, más allá de la siempre casuística relación establecida entre las partes involucradas. Este artículo presenta una forma de trabajo diseñada para la asignatura "Historia Entretejida: Historia cultural de la ciudad de México", forma que incentiva la autogestión en la enseñanza por parte de los estudiantes, a la vez que les permite comprenderse como sujetos históricos.

El tema del teatro latino y de la comedia Aulularia de Plauto nos permite analizar varios aspectos culturales y literarios de la época romana: situación festiva, la trama de las obras, su lenguaje, personajes, tradición, etc. La propuesta didáctica pensada se ha puesto en práctica en una clase de 1º de Bachillerato de Humanidades. A través de una metodología tradicional y activa, se pretende una harmonía entre el papel del profesor de facilitador de conocimientos y el rol del alumno de participar de manera activa en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje. Tras una encuesta sobre sus hábitos de lectura, se parte del nivel inicial del estudiante y se intenta suplir las posibles carencias lectoras mediante una ficha de lectura. Generalmente, los resultados académicos sobresalían por sus altas calificaciones y el grado de satisfacción entre los alumnos fue elevado. Finalmente, el instrumento empleado para la evaluación es la rúbrica, cuyo porcentaje será de un 10%. Además, no solo los estudiantes autoevaluarán su trabajo de la ficha de lectura, sino también nosotros el propio método.

This briefing paper, which examines whether students' educational performance is influenced by where they live, highlights that: there are small differences between the literacy and numeracy performances of rural and urban students in the middle years of their education; there are only slight differences in their choice of subjects in Year 12 between rural and urban students, with rural students studying in the areas of health, home science and agriculture more frequently than their urban counterparts; the participation of young people living in regional and remote areas in Year 12 and higher education is lower than that of their urban counterparts; and the rates of participation in vocational education and training (VET) for rural people are at least as high as in urban areas. This report, published by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), is part of the Longitudinal Surveys of Australian Youth (LSAY) research program.

The purpose of this study is to examine the resilience of high school students in Turkey, and to determine the relationships between the student resiliency and some protective factors such as school climate, teacher atti- tudes and behaviors, family and peer support according to the student opinions. By using 509 students randomly selected from 24 general and Anatolian high schools from central districts of Ankara, it was found that students' perception of sociability and communication skill and determination were higher than the self-efficacy, hope and problem solving skills which were important components of resiliency. There were significant correlations be- tween students' resiliency perceptions and gender, grade level, fathers' educational level, family income, grade point avarege and absenteeism of those students. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of anti drugs training with reflective method to increase understanding and decrease intention of drug abuse. Hypothesis proposed in this study is that the anti drugs training is given can increase the understanding of drugs danger and decrease intention of drug
abuse. Research is held at SMAN 1 Bambanglipuro Bantul Yogyakarta with 107 subjects. This research utilized independent t-test and showed no differences about understanding of drugs danger nor intention of drug abuse between control group and experiment group. T-test result showed (t (105) = 0.626, p=0.532)
and Mann-Whitney Test showed (z(105) = -0.929, p=0.353) for understanding’s gain score. On intention’s gain score, t-test showed t(105) = 0.329 (p=0.743) and Mann-Whitney Test produced z(105) = -0.486 (p=0.627). The result of this study is anti drugs training is not proofed effective to increase the understanding of drugs danger and decrease intention of drug abuse.

Abstract
The research focuses on comparing the amount of volts produced by the magnetic pendulum with different weight of magnetic wires. Three set-ups were created where each set-up 1 had 25grams of magnetic wire, set-up 2 had 50grams of magnetic wire and set-up 3 with 75 grams of magnetic wire. The set-ups were then connected to a multimeter to test if it can produce amount of electricity measured by volts.
Results show that the set-up with 75 grams of magnetic wire had highest volts produced by minute. ANOVA 1 was used to compare the 3 set-ups. According to the computation, set-up with 75grams of magnetic wire showed no significant difference on 0.05 level of significance with other two set-ups.
Results show that the f-ratio, -.30, is lower than the critical value, 5.14. If the f-ratio is lower than the critical value, then the Ho is accepted.
It is recommended to the future researchers to learn how to store electricity to properly measure the total amount of electricity produced without depending on the average electricity produced.

With over 6 billion handsets in use, cell phones are one of the most iconic technologies of the current era. An interdisciplinary ethnographic and linguistic study currently underway at GWU and the Smithsonian is investigating how these devices are used among so-called millennials in the DC area. By focusing on contexts of repair--both material repair of actual devices and verbal repair of dropped or misunderstood connections--we are examining the implications of this media technology for communicative and social relationships. The lecture will describe the project, some of its proposed theoretical and ethnographic implications, and provide some preliminary examples.

The majority of research on flipped learning has focused on higher education. The purpose of the current study was to compare flipped and traditional approaches to teaching chemistry in secondary school classrooms. Attitudes and learning performance were assessed for 50 grade 11 students (21 male, 29 female) participating in two flipped and two traditional chemistry units over a 12-week period. Students rated learning environment, understanding, and the effectiveness of learning the same for both flipped and traditional teaching approaches. Open-ended comments revealed that students were equally positive about the quality of flipped and traditional teaching approaches. Finally, both flipped and traditional teaching approaches produced significant gains in knowledge and application-based questions. It was concluded that both flipped and traditional approaches to teaching high school chemistry are viable if attention and care are directed toward clear, well-paced explanations, providing a sufficient range of examples, ensuring enough time to apply concepts, and offering support when needed.

Travestida de liberdade de expressão, a desinformação circula à margem do crivo das universidades e das escolas. As restrições sociais da pandemia de covid-19 conduziram à adoção do ensino remoto, em tempos de exacerbadas desigualdades sociais, de acesso limitado à tecnologia e da precariedade dos sistemas públicos de ensino e saúde.
É nesse contexto que, em 2020, surgiu a proposta Lab Vivo, que se baseia no princípio simples de entrelaçar os percursos formativos de licenciandos na disciplina de graduação e de estudantes do ensino médio em um curso de extensão. Aqui exploramos as contribuições desse princípio para a formação na licenciatura, sobretudo no que tange à constituição da identidade docente. Esta proposta estabelece um novo
contrato pedagógico para os dois corpos discentes, em que se preveem compromissos e engajamentos mais profundos do que aqueles presentes nas propostas usuais de prática de ensino. Implementada em duas edições, inteiramente remotas, em 2020 e 2021, a proposta baseia-se em uma abordagem orientada por projetos, na qual o objetivo é criar e aplicar um curso de extensão com base no seguinte fio condutor: dissecar desinformação sobre covid-19, elaborar hipóteses, testá-las por meio de experimento, examinar os achados e valorar as consequências em se adotar e propagar desinformação. Até o presente, a proposta envolveu 39 licenciandos e atendeu 197 estudantes de ensino médio da rede pública.

The competence to reasonably assess the credibility of information has become a key literacy in the knowledge society. However, schools – at least in Austria – still do not provide an adequate framework for children to aquire the respective skills. Moreover, the structural and cultural context of school and the respective practices of teachers even seem to conflict with the aim to make children digitally literate, as indicated by our qualitative study in Austrian schools. The project systematically asked for the terms, forms and consequences of Internet use in schools and for school-related tasks as well as the impact of the school on Internet practices of teens, especially the development of competences for information research and information processing.
