Music Events

Müzik-insan ilişkisi, insanlık tarihinin her döneminde ve insan yaşamının her evresinde var olagelmiştir. Bu ilişki, doğumdan bebekliğe, bebeklikten çocukluğa, çocukluktan gençliğe, gençlikten yetişkinliğe ve yaşlılığa kadar insan hayatında farklı türlerde ve niteliklerde bazen dolaylı, bazen dolaysız kurulmuştur. Anneden dinlenen ilk ninniden, sokakta oynanan oyundaki tekerlemeye, sayışmaya; eğlen-cedeki müzikten, kederdeki ağıta kadar müzik, insanın duygusu, düşüncesi ve dili olmuştur.
Müzik, çocukların günlük yaşantısının ayrılmaz bir parçasıdır. Evde, okulda, sokakta, parkta dolayısıyla her yerde ve günün her saatinde müzik, çocukların gün-lük yaşantılarını çeşitlendiren ve zenginleştiren bir etkinlik alanıdır. Duygu ve dü-şüncelerini yansıtmada, bedenlerini uyumlu ve dengeli kullanmada, öğrenme kapa-sitelerini geliştirmede, dil yeterliklerini artırmada ve sosyalleşmelerinde müzik et-kinlikleri çocuklara önemli deneyimler yaşayacakları ortamlar hazırlar.
Müzik etkinlikleri, okul öncesi eğitimin amaçları ve temel ilkeleri çerçevesinde öğretmenlere sunacağı etkili yol ve yöntemlerle zengin bir eğitim içeriği ve süreci ya-ratmada işlevsel etkinliklerden biridir. Normal veya özel eğitim gereksinimi olan tüm çocukların eğitiminde yer alması gereken müzik etkinlikleri, iyi bir planlama ve uygula-mayla çocukların tüm gelişim alanlarını destekleyeceği gibi, okul öncesi eğitimin başarısı bakımından da önem taşır.
Bu kitabın, okul öncesi öğretmeni adaylarına, müzik öğretmeni adaylarına, okul öncesi öğretmenlerine, müzik öğretmenlerine, çocuk gelişimi ve eğitimi ile okul öncesi dönem müzik eğitimi alanlarıyla ilgilenen kişilere yardımcı olması umulmaktadır.

Big musical events often coincide with natural spaces, and therefore they may have an impact on sensitive ecosystems. Here, a story of events that took place following a big event on an Italian beach within a Special Protection Area (SPA; hosting embryonic shifting dunes and plover
birds of conservation concern) is reported. Following a theatrical approach to conservation, this story unfolds in three acts (Act I: The Premises; II: On the Field; III: Long-Term Effects) that include the social targets (‘actors’) involved (i.e., the pop star’s staff, ONG, institutions, and local stakeholders)
as well as the critical issues and conflicts. This experience provides some conservation lessons: (i) big musical events can have an impact on sensitive socio-ecosystems; (ii) the intrinsic value of coastal
ecosystems has been underestimated since the site selection was carried out by decision makers with inaccurate/inappropriate use of digital tools; (iii) communication among the private organizers,
public institutions, ONG, and people was poor; (iv) the availability of huge economic resources has made the local municipality vulnerable; (v) digital social processes increased polarization between opposing parties with an increase in local conflicts among Public Agencies; and (vi) these conflicts
had long-term cascade effects on the nature reserve’s management. To communicate conservation stories, I encourage conservation practitioners to use a theatrical approach to communicate local events with socio-ecological implications—increasing awareness of human–wildlife conflicts and cognitive bias emerging after unshared decisions—using simplified conceptual frameworks.

This study focuses on social sustainability of music events in adolescents’ lives through their perceptions and own words as they describe their live music experiences. Scrutinizing music event attendance from the social sustainability perspective demonstrates that the cultural content per se is not as meaningful as the social network that comes together in such events. The research questions were: How is social sustainability manifested in adolescents’ music event attendance, and what are the implications? The research data comprised the results of a web survey directed at 15–18 year old adolescents. Bonding and bridging, as well as the sense of community, were present in adolescents’ descriptions of live music experiences, producing various forms of well-being effects. This exploratory research seeks to gain insight into the visitors of Persian Fire Festival in Stockholm, their motivation, level of satisfaction and loyalty to the festival. The overall methodology is mixed methods consisting of participant observation and 280 completed online surveys including close-ended and open-ended questions. A Grounded theory analysis has been employed. The most important reason behind the participation has been to strive for the recognition of ethnic cultural identity; to keep the ancient culture alive; to maintain their ancestors’ legacy and transfer it to the next generation. Most of the visitors experienced positive feelings, showed satisfaction and loyalty, believed that the festival fulfilled their expectations and it should be celebrated officially every year. Olay, insanları ilgilendiren sosyal, ekonomik, kültürel, politik, dini ve benzeri alanlarda meydana gelen oluşumlardır. Bu bağlamda müzik çevresinde gerçekleşen oluşumlar ise müzik olayları olarak tanımlanabilir. Müzik olayları, müziksel davranışların çözümlenmesinde incelenebilecek en temel unsur görevini üstlenir. Bunun sebebi ise hem müziksel tınının hem de toplumsal parametrelerin müzik olaylarında bir araya gelmesidir. John Keammer’ın (1993) antropolojik bir bakış açısıyla yazdığı Music in Human Life: Anthropological Perspectives on Music kitabında açıkladığı müzik olayları, tecimsel, sözleşmeli ve parasal destekli müzik olayları biçiminde sınıflandırılır.
DİSK İşçi Korosu, Devrimci İşçi Sendikaları Konfederasyonu bünyesinde kurulmuş ve kendilerini de tanımladıkları biçimde politik bir yapılanma sonucu çeşitli konserler düzenleyen bir korodur. Dünya’nın pek çok farklı yerinde söylenen işçi marşlarını, devrim şarkılarını ve türkülerini seslendiren Disk İşçi Korosu bünyesinden yer alan koristler, maddi kazanç taşımayan ve konfederasyonun politik ülkülerine duydukları ortak duygular için gönüllü olarak sahne alan kişilerdir. Bunun yanında, dinleyiciler de konsere katılım için bir ödeme gerçekleştirmezler.
Günümüzde Disk İşçi Korosu gibi, müzisyenlerin performansları karşılığı ücret talep etmediği pek çok müzik olayı gerçekleşmektedir. Eylemlerde yapılan müzik performansları, bağış için düzenlenen konserler ile hapishane, hastane gibi mekanlarda moral vermek için düzenlenen dinletiler ya da üniversite festivallerinde veya yarışmalarda amatör müzisyenlerce gerçekleştirilen performanslar bunlara örnek gösterilebilir. Maddi gelirin yerine toplumsal meseleler, prestij ve tanınma gibi sebeplerden müziksel olaya dahil olan katılımcılar Pierre Bourdieu’nun kültürel, toplumsal ve simgesel sermaye olarak tanımladığı sermaye biçimlerini elde edebilmek amacıyla müziksel olaya dahil olurlar. Bu gibi müziksel olayları tanımlayabilecek bir sınıflandırmanın bulunmayışı yeni bir kavram oluşturulması ihtiyacını beraberinde getirir. Bu çalışma ile müzisyenin parasal anlamda bir ücret talep etmediği bu tür müzik olaylarına “gönüllü müzik olayları” kavramsallaştırmasını önermekteyim.
Çalışmada, Disk İşçi Korosu’na dair toplanan etnografik veriler aktarılacak, müzik olayları sınıflandırmasında saptanan terminolojik açık “gönüllü müzik olayları” kavramı ile giderilmeye çalışılacak, bu bağlamda incelenen Disk İşçi Korosu’na ek olarak benzer biçimde gerçekleştirilen politik müzik olayları gözden geçirilecektir.

Abstract
The event is a phenomenon that takes place in social, economic, cultural, political, religious and similar fields that concern people. In this context, the occurrences around music can be defined as music events. Music events are the most fundamental element that can be studied in analyzing musical behavior. The reason for this is that both the musical tone and the social parameters come together in music events. İn the John Keammer's (1993) book named Anthropological Perspective on Music in Human Life: The Anthropological Approaches to Music, The music events that are described in the book are classified as commercial, contractual, and financed music events.

DISK Worker Choir is a choir that was established within the Revolutionary Workers’ Union Confederation and organizes various concerts as a result of a political restructuring in the way they define themselves. The choristes, who are members of the DISK Worker Choir are volunteers for the common feelings they have for the political realms of the confederation and not for the financial gain. Besides, the listeners do not make a payment for participation in the concert.

Nowadays, there are many musical events, such as the DISK Worker Choir, where musicians do not charge fees for performances. Musical performances in performances, concerts organized for donations, performances organized to give morale to places such as prisons, hospitals, or performances performed by amateur musicians in university festivals or competitions are examples of these performances. Participants who are musically involved in terms of social affairs, prestige and recognition instead of material income are included in the musical to obtain the types of capital Pierre Bourdieu defines as cultural, social and symbolic capital. The lack of a classification that can identify such musical events brings with it the need to create a new concept. With this work I suggest the conceptualization of "voluntary music events" for such music events where the musician does not charge a fee in monetary terms.

In the study, collective ethnographic data on the DISK İşçi Korosu will be handed out and the political music events that are carried out in a similar way in addition to the DISK İşçi Korosu examined in this context will be scrutinized with the notion of terminologically explicit "voluntary music events" identified in the classification of music events.

Müzik etkinlikleri, okul öncesi dönemde normal veya özel eğitim gereksinimi olan tüm çocukların eğitiminde kullanılması gereken ve çocukların tüm gelişim alanlarını destekleyen etkili ve önemli araçlardan biridir. İyi planlanmış ve uygulanmış bir müzik etkinliğinin çocukların tüm gelişim alanlarında ve özellikle de bilişsel gelişim alanında etkili olacağı düşünülmektedir. Yoğunlaştırılmış müzik etkinlikleri programlarına dâhil olan çocuklarda akıl yürütme, yüksek seviyeli bilişsel yetenekler ve konuşma diliyle ilişkili becerilerde önemli derecede ilerlemeler görülür. Özellikle müzik etkinlikleri kapsamında gerçekleştirilen şarkı söyleme, çalgı çalma, ritim çalışması, nefes-ses çalışması, müzikli öykü oluşturma, yaratıcı hareket ve dans çalışmaları çocukların bilişsel gelişimle ilgili kazanımlara ulaşmasında kolaylık sağlar. Buradan hareketle bu çalışmada okul öncesi eğitim programında yer alan bilişsel gelişim kazanımlarına ulaşmada müzik etkinliklerinin kullanılabilirliği üzerinde durulmuştur. Araştırma betimsel bir çalışma olup, veriler literatür taraması, doküman analizi ve betimsel içerik analizi yoluyla elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler doğrultusunda bilişsel gelişim kazanım ve göstergeleri ile yapılabilecek müzik etkinlikleri arasındaki tema ve örüntüler kurulmuş, böylece müzik etkinliklerinin hangi kazanımları gerçekleştirmede işlevsel olabileceği saptanmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu araştırmanın okul öncesi öğretmen adayları, okul öncesi öğretmenleri ve okul öncesi eğitimle ilgilenen müzik öğretmenlerinin, çocukların bilişsel gelişimlerini gerçekleştirmede müzik etkinliklerinin yararları konusunda farkındalık kazanmaları ve uygulama yeterlikleri açısından olumlu sonuçlar doğuracağı beklenmektedir.

For individuals, learning about themselves, perceiving their environment socially and culturally and adapting to these values begins at a very young age. For effective and productive development in this period, social and cultural environmental conditions and stimulants are important. In the preschool period, musical activities should be used in education of all children whether with normal or unique education requirements and they are an effective and important tool supporting all development areas in children. Children involved in musical activities from a young age, stimulated and supported by music, are observed to display better healthy development both emotionally and physically. Accordingly, our problem statement in this study was identified as determination of the effects of musical activities in the preschool period on the social and emotional development characteristics of children.

Festival rüzgarları ülkemizde bir süredir tersten esiyor! Öyle ki ciddi bütçesi olanlar bile zorlukla ayakta dururken, üniversite şenlikleri gibi daha mütevazi olanlar savrulup gidiyor. Ortada festival kalmayınca da meydan " festival " adı ile anılan çikolata, kahve, zeytin, organik gıda ve daha onlarca alakasız ürün ile yan yana geliyor. İşin kötüsü gerçek festivalin ne olduğunu bilmeyen, açık havada hep birlikte şarkı söylemenin enerjisini hissetmeyen, çıplak ayakla toprağa basıp deşarj olmayı deneylememiş kuşaklar da dünya aya giderken, yaya kalıyor...

Etkinlik söz konusu olduğunda peş peşe gelen sorulardan biri de kim'dir. Kim geliyor, kim sahneye çıkıyor, kim oynuyor? Ancak profesyoneller için bu yetersizdir. Kim sorusu diğerleri gibi yanıtı dümdüz olmayan, madalyonun önü kadar arkasına da bakmayı gerektiren, iki yanı keskin bir kılıç gibidir.

Özet Problem Durumu: İnsanın kendini tanıması, içinde bulunduğu çevreyi sosyal ve kültürel olarak algılaması ve o değerlerle uyum süreci çok küçük yaşlarda başlar. Bu dönemde gelişimin etkili ve verimli olmasında ise sosyal ve kültürel çevre koşulları ve uyarıcılar önemli bir yer tutar. Okul öncesi dönemde müzik etkinlikleri, normal veya özel eğitim gereksinimi olan tüm çocukların eğitiminde kullanılması gereken ve çocukların tüm gelişim alanlarını destekleyen etkili ve önemli araçlardan biridir. Küçük yaşlardan itibaren müziksel aktivite içinde bulunarak müzikle beslenen ve desteklenen çocukların ruhsal ve bedensel yönden daha sağlıklı bir gelişim sergiledikleri gözlenmektedir. Buradan hareketle bu çalışmada okul öncesi dönemde yapılacak olan müzik etkinliklerinin çocukların sosyal ve duygusal gelişim özelliklerine etkilerinin neler olabileceği problem durumu olarak saptanmıştır. Araştırmanın Amacı: Okul öncesi dönem çocuklarının sağlıklı bir şekilde büyüyebilmesi ve gelişebilmesi için nitelikli ve olumlu sosyal-duygusal deneyimlerin çocuğa sunulduğu ve çocuğun bağımsızlığının desteklendiği bir okul öncesi eğitime ihtiyaç vardır. Okul öncesi dönem çocukların tüm gelişim alanlarını gözeten bir programın varlığı ve uygulanması beklenen hedeflere ulaşmada önemli bir rol oynayacaktır. Bu çalışmada MEB 2013 Okul Öncesi Eğitim Programı'nda belirtilen hedefler doğrultusunda, okul öncesi dönem çocukların sosyal-duygusal gelişim özelliklerinin müzik etkinlikleri açısından incelenmesi ve değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Although there are vast amounts of literature on the effects of music, there are clear gaps on the impacts of festival attendance with regards to music festivals as a source of social well-being for attendees. Packer & Ballantyne (2011) state that although the physical and cognitive advances of engaging with music are recognised, there has been insufficient research into the psychological benefits of engaging with music at festivals. Therefore, it is imperative to expand our understanding of the positive impacts music festivals have on young festival goers. This dissertation explores the opinions of sixteen young festival attendees between the ages of 18-28 in order to analyse their view of the overall festival experience. Focus groups were selected as the most appropriate technique to assist in achieving a comprehensive understanding of the participant’s perceptions of the topic in question.

Primary research distinctly showed how music festival attendance leads to positive outcomes for attendees. Focus group participants highlighted five key areas of importance. The areas were the music experience, the festival experience, the sense of escape, the social aspects and the link between music and emotion. Although some of the negative impacts of music festivals were expressed by the participants of the focus groups, emphasis was on music festival experiences as the basis for social well-being and enlightenment. The findings demonstrated a similarity between the results of the focus group and previous literature, although there were some differences between the two. An interesting variance was recognised between what the literature believed to be of significance to festival goers and what the participants perceived as important to them.

However, future research would be of significance to explore this topic further.

Some remote areas of Australia have been caught in a vicious cycle due to the decline of economy in export trade, infrastructure and population (Gibson & Connell, 2012). Many small cities and towns are losing industries, residents and even the confidence of a sustainable future (Brennan-Horley et al, 2007), which has been regarded as significant issue of national importance in recent years (Rogers & Collins, 2001). These remotes places have tried to not only develop their regional economy but also reinvent their local images through various activities.Film, food and sports are concentrated on by most of them. However, some other remote areas have focused on music tourism.

Music tourism has become more important for the regeneration of remote areas because, as a social catalyst, it can illustrates how culture, economy and identities are entangled (Gibson & Connell, 2005). Since the 1970s, one significant music form, music festivals, has become an important means of promoting places and regions, especially the local tourism industry (Gibson & Connell, 2005). With more comprehensive marketing, music festivals have been regarded as one strategy for seeking better business opportunities to develop the local tourism industry thereby reinventing the local economy and place identities (Gibson & Connell, 2005). For instance, some country cities, such as Tamworth and Port Fairy, focused on music festivals which have not only substantially improved the local economy and development of the tourism industry but have also brought many benefits for the regeneration of the cities (Walmsley, 2003).

This essay will explore how these areas have promoted tourism and even been regenerated though music festivals. To analyze these two parts, there is an initial need to understand in depth the relationship between music festivals and the tourism industry in these areas. Besides, in order to research why these remote areas rely on music festivals and why these areas can hold huge music festivals, the regional situation which contains the culture background and economy background of these areas will be analyzed. This essay will then focus on some successful music festivals in remote areas of Australia, such as the Park Elvis Revival Festival, Tamworth Music Festival and the Wangarattea Jazz Festival, to explore how these festivals are operated and how these music festivals impact the local area in different way including tourism, the local economy, local culture and local identities. All of these analyses will not only help us have a better understanding of the relationship between music, tourism and city regeneration, but also support our argument that music activities such as festivals is one strategy for the regeneration of remote areas in Australia by promoting the local tourism.

Music festivals have developed from nothing to being a considerable cultural industry in around 50 years. (Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2014) In this essay “music festival” is defined as an outdoor music in particular a pop, rock or jazz music festival. In 2008, music festival industry surpassed recording industry as the top income generator. (Deconstructing, 2013). Music festivals are one of the few sectors in the music industry, which have continued to grow in the slump. Many sectors within music industry, even in other industries, have benefited from the success of music festivals since they are only a form of performing but also an effective industry model. Moreover, music festivals are bound up with many industries such as advertising, and form part of a large industrial chain. Someone, however, believe that music festivals are in a bubble with overproduction and the rising tickets prices. They perceive that there are too many music festivals in some specific areas and countries such as America, the UK and Australia. There is a report by Pollstar (2014) shows that there are 1,200 music festivals in 70 different countries in 2014. This dissertation explores the issues of a music festival bubble to research whether the bubble of music festivals exists, what the potential reasons for a music festival bubble are and what festival organisers must learn from the bubble by critically analysing seven recent articles, which concentrate mainly on music festivals in some countries such as America, the UK and Australia.

Spanish Language Music Survey - English dominant Spanish language music listeners

Purpose
The main purpose of this study was to determine the genres of Spanish language music being consumed and the mode of consumption.

Significance
Texas is approximately thirty eight percent Hispanic.  This number includes immigrants and natural born citizens with many countries of origin.  As more Spanish language immigrants come into Texas and as the native Hispanic population continues to grow, Spanish language product consumption patterns will continue to change.  This study captured current musical tastes and consumption preferences of Spanish language music listeners.

Recommendations
The preliminary findings of this study are compelling and sufficient to request additional research for a broader examination of Spanish language music consumption in Texas.  These findings also begin to document the genre preferences of an English dominant Spanish language music listener.  As the Spanish language market grows and English dominant culture continues to welcome multilingual songs such as South Korea’s “Gangnam Style” by Psy and Brazilian Portuguese “Ai Se Eu Te Pego” by Michel Teló, Spanish language music genre preference surveys conducted on a regular basis will provide data that captures musical tastes and reflects trends.
