The use of technology is changing the way things are done, including the work in universities where the teaching and learning process are changing, and it is required to know the effect of technology on student achievement. In this research work, we present the influence of Internet use on academic success of students from five universities in Ecuador. A random sample of 4,697 people was got up and categorized in two groups: the use of Internet in academic activities and entertainment, using factor analysis and cluster analysis; the resulting categories were used as independent variables in multinomial logistic regression model which are seeking to determine if the use of Internet has impacted on academic success. The results show that people who perform interactive activities with peers and teachers or use in a balanced way the different internet tools tend to have more academic success than those who only seeks information. Regarding to the use of Internet in entertainment, a positive impact was found on academic achievement. Students who download audio, video and software, and students who use all the entertainment possibilities show less likely to fail than who using minimally Internet. In terms of gender, it has different effects for entertainment and academic purposes.

Education is reforming with the birth of the internet. Learning is not solely based on classroom basis but also through on-line. The revolution of Internet has transformed teaching via face-to-face into virtual teaching. The expansion of teaching deliveries suggests that we need interactive mechanism to accommodate course material for on-line students. However, creating on-line materials requires the conception of on-line instructional design. A suitable online material design will allow learners to engage with learning. Learners will have opportunities to develop their own understanding. In addition, suitable learning material will strengthen learner's knowledge construction from their short-term memory to long-term memory. The purpose of this paper is to discover the learning material design approach based on gender by evaluating lecturer's adoption of online material design using Keller's ARCS model. The sample consisting of 30 lecturers from distance education learning reveals that gender differs in their adoption of learning material design specifically on getting attention of the student. The result also shows that relevance and satisfaction contribute to gender differences in learning material adoption. Limitations of the study and practical implications of these findings discussed.

Organizing in groups does not represent an objective definition, but rather a way to better understand the meaning of plurality. At the same time modern technologies modify perceptive and cognitive transformation. This research shows that on-line groups develop objective dynamics in face-to-face groups; it evaluates the quality of the University student services and studies the dynamics of the creation of face-to-face and on-line groups. Students were divided into experimental on-line (forum, chat, newsgroup) and face-to-face encounters (seminars, laboratories). The two level analyses show the defence mechanisms, the lack of socialization attitudes and the tolerance of differences that characterized on-line groups. The new technologies open new horizons and cognitive functions.

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic forced many psychotherapists using hypnosis with their patients to venture into unexplored and undiscovered territory. They were challenged not only by technologies such as videoconferencing and the written and unwritten codes of online behavior but also by the primary and well-established rules of hypnotic and psychotherapeutic arts, which became challenging and confusing in the new digital environment. In the current paper, I will present the challenges of online hypnotic psychotherapy (H-psychotherapy) for professionals. Some practical recommendations for H-psychotherapy utilizing teleconference equipment will be offered. Additionally, specific techniqus and strategies for the online implementation of hypnosis will be presented. Subjective and intersubjective factors that have to be addressed during online H- psychotherapy will be emphasized and discussed. All of the elements mentioned above are essential for working online with hypnosis while helping create and develop a safe, effective, and therapeutic space that can bypass the technological, physical, and psychological barriers.

The purpose of this qualitative study is to examine the application of reflective learning journals online. It evaluates the effectiveness of reflective learning online using a five point level reflection scale. The purpose of applying reflective journals was to develop critical thinking, help students to integrate theory, practice and experience and to relate presented theoretical knowledge to real life situations. As a consequence, students gained deeper understanding of the material learnt, managed to contextualise it and developed meaningful professional relationships with their teacher.

We study the problem of determining the Hamiltonian of a fully connected Ising spin glass of N units from a set of measurements, whose sizes needs to be O(N2) bits. The student–teacher scenario, used to study learning in feed-forward neural networks, is here extended to spin systems with arbitrary couplings. The set of measurements consists of data about the local minima of the rugged energy landscape. We compare simulations and analytical approximations for the resulting learning curves obtained by using different algorithms.

Although online education provides opportunities to people who traditionally do not have access to universities, there is a need for more empirical studies to gain better understanding on how to deliver quality online education, especially when the subject of the course is related with IT. Learning to program is a complicated process. This study aims to find out the difference between students' performance in online and face-to-face (F2F) settings during a computer programming course. This online course is one of the required courses for students majoring in Mathematics. It is delivered in a learning management system developed in house through a project funded by Istanbul University. The goal is to introduce students with structured programming using the programming language C. Two topics-" Functions in C Programming " and " Loops in C Programming "-were presented to students online and F2F. The total of 62 students formed two groups: the online and F2F groups. The content analysis statistical technique is used, as well as a questionnaire consisting of open-ended questions, which performed as a data collection tool to find out the views of the students in context to the process. While some results concluded that the performance of online students was satisfactory, but that their aggregate final grade was significantly lower than that of students who took an equivalent F2F class, others arrived at a conclusion reporting that there were no significant differences in overall outcomes. In case of making transition from F2F to online mode of teaching, prepossession about a new way of teaching is always an important barrier in students' perceptions. One of the further researches is investigation of strategies for incorporating blended learning opportunities in programming courses.

The essay presents the incorporation process in the reconstruction of distance education in Italy. The paper tries to highlight the transition from modern to postmodern society, focusing both on this extraordinary change in the landscape of cultural and communication processes, and outcomes for the education system and educational and pedagogical models that govern this relationship. The research aims to understand, on the one hand, the potential of these techno-social environments for educational systems, and on the other, raises new questions for a sociological reflection more attentive to new social dynamics produced by these technologies. We seek to trace the effects triggered by the advent of ICT on persons and learning systems. We starts from the idea that, despite widespread criticism, immobility of education system and the absence of an overview about the use of these new devices in teaching practices, we register a significant tendency towards change. On the basis of these considerations, the research attempts to: • highlight any differences in perspectives/models in use among the elearning systems and teaching practices; • draw a reflection of risks/opportunities, strengths and weaknesses associated with the use of such instruments/techno-social environment in educational processes.
