Civil engineering operations are experiencing structural
changes throughout the value chain. At the upstream, major
engineering companies consolidate their global operations with
aggressive mergers and acquisitions. Examples in 2017 include
Jacob’s acquisition of CH2M Hill, SNC-Lavalin’s acquisition of
Atkins, and John Wood’s acquisition of Amec Foster Wheeler. At
the downstream, large construction companies are on the brink
of crisis as exemplified by Carillion’s liquidation in 2018 and
Wanda’s reform towards asset-light service operations [1]. These
changes, which are often intertwined with unprecedented digital
transformations brought by new possibilities such as Big Data
Analytics, Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things, prompt
us to rethink whether the current operations capabilities for civil
engineering are still useful and keeping up with the actual need of
competition [2].

In last one decade, the number of people using airline has increased in great number. Different international airlines use Bangladesh as a hub to take passenger. The aim of the paper is to examine the business process of travel agent. To know in which area or location passengers are traveling, percentage of domestic flights and international flights, Number of transit ticket and direct ticket, type of buyer and characteristics of passengers traveling on these international flights. The main target is to show how travel agents are working in Bangladesh. This paper provides empirical study, collected data from field. In this paper, we are going to see the operations and market analysis of these two travel agencies. The result reveals that the main customers of travel agents are tourists and specially, mid-level tourists. Most of the people take return tickets and in economy class. This travel agencies offer different package to customers according their choice and need. In this study we also found the socio-Demographic Characteristic of customers, their gender, occupation, type of buyer etc.

Purpose
The main aim of this business project is to find out about cultural perceptions and their impact on motivation of expatriates working in International Institutions of Higher Education in Tashkent to be specific, Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT), Management Development Institute of Singapore in Tashkent (MDIST), INHA University in Tashkent and Turin Politechnic University in Tashkent (TPUT).
The concentration is essentially made on the context of theories of motivation and perception of expatriates for the purpose of analyzing reasons of expatriates working at the International Universities in Tashkent and living in Uzbekistan. Correspondingly, the researcher also focused on cultural perceptions of expatriates in order to identify their attitude towards Uzbek Culture.
Methodology
This research is carried out referring to deductive approach and using both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. In addition to this, with the purpose of finding answers to the research question, primary data is collected through the interviews and distributed questionnaires to the expatriates. Besides, a sample was chosen from the target population where a quota sampling and non-probability technique, such as purposive has been selected in this research paper.
Conclusions
The analyzed findings in the research gave an opportunity to find an answer for the research question and objectives. Findings defined that, expatriates come to Uzbekistan for different reasons and each of them has diversified motivational factors which impact on their career growth. Participants of this study stated their foremost motives for being expatriates predominantly intrinsic. Additionally, majority of them are satisfied with their current job and perception of Uzbek Culture effects positively on their motivation. Hence, most of expatriates cultural perspectives are similar with Uzbek culture and it is comfortable and easy for expatriates living in Uzbekistan.

This report provides analysis and description of Emirates Airline, which established in 1985, it considered as one of the biggest airlines on the Middle East, and its fleet on these days contains more than 180 aircrafts. Firstly, this report will talk briefly about targeted markets and customers which are people who are looking for travelling to new destination which are not reached by competitors, as well as people who would like to utilize luxury service in the business and first classes. Regarding order winners and qualifiers, quality conformance of service in all classes, luxury services for business- and first-class passengers and reaching new destinations are three of order winners which make Emirates preferable by customers. Moreover, expanding fleet strategy is identified and explained in details as an essential strategy which followed by Emirates. In the next part of the report, the Emirates Aviation College and Emirates website, both of them contribute effectively in enhancing the operation in Emirates by providing online services for customers, and meet Emirates needs of pilots and crew members by Emirates Aviation College. Emirates delivery system such as aircrafts and lounges, and Emirates infrastructure such as engineering centre, both of them are used effectively in order to provide a high quality service for customers to enhance its operation as well as strengthening its position in aviation markets in the Middle East and around the world. Finally, smart phones on these days is one of the important part on the life; therefore,  it can be argued that one of the recommendations which could be suggested is designing and releasing an application which serves Emirates’s customers who would like to book and manage their bookings online through their phones or tablets.

The world needs to reduce its dependency on fossil fuel (non-renewable energy) as it is fast depleting and due to the harmful impact to the environment – most notably ‘Climate Change’. Therefore, Green Technology now becomes an even greater significance. We expect that academic scientists, leading engineers, industry researchers and scholar students would exchange and share their experiences and discuss research results on how we can survive and sustain in the future with green technology. The issues are not only about developing technologies, but also how to manage them properly in order to gain maximum benefit for the societies.

This volume contains papers accepted to The 3rd International Conference on Technology and Operations Management (ICTOM 2012) which themed Sustaining Competitiveness through Green Technology Management. The conference was held in East Hall – ITB and SBM-ITB (School of Business and Management – ITB) on July 4-6, 2012.

Nowadays, the entire world is experiencing very complex and chaotic economic situations. Despite the global economic slowdown, it is very encouraging for us to receive over than one hundred submissions from various countries, and accept less than three-fourth submitted papers written by one hundred forty-eight authors for oral presentation to share their knowledges. We are also very grateful for the acceptance of keynote speakerships by well-known senior researchers and international as well as regional practicioners in Technology and Operations Management discipline specifically in Green Technology Management area.

ICTOM 2012 was organized by SBM-ITB, especially Operations and Performance Management (OPM) Interest Group. This conference shows our third collaboration with the esteemed College of Business – Universiti Utara Malaysia. We have been successfully organized the previous conferences at West Hall ITB in 2006 and at Langkawi, Malaysia in 2010.

We hope that this 3rd scientific meeting forum could contribute to introduce and promote Technology and Operations Management especially in Indonesia, to open the way for possible collaboration between local and international academicians and practitioners to promote ITB, in particular SBM-ITB, as a world class university and as the leading higher institution in the field of technology and operations management.

On this occasion, we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has helped in organizing this international conference and the preparation of proceedings. We also apologize for any shortcomings, both in the organizing of the conference and in the preparation of conference proceedings.

Dr. Christopher is a surgeon who runs his own orthopedic clinic. He & one other surgeon perform surgeries every morning for 5 hours a day, 4 days a week for a total of 20 hours each week. They also like to keep a 10% (2 hour) safety capacity for any unexpected problems with scheduled surgeries and emergencies. We are looking to analyze to see that the surgeons have enough time to properly & safely perform all their procedures during their morning surgery time.

Lean manufacturing or lean production, often simply "lean", is a systemic method for the elimination of waste ("Muda") within a manufacturing process. Lean also takes into account waste created through overburden ("Muri") and waste created through unevenness in workloads ("Mura"). Working from the perspective of the client who consumes a product or service, "value" is any action or process that a customer would be willing to pay for.
Essentially, lean is centered on making obvious what adds value by reducing everything else. Lean manufacturing is a management philosophy derived mostly from the Toyota Production System (TPS) (hence the term Toyotism is also prevalent) and identified as "lean" only in the 1990s.[1][2] TPS is renowned for its focus on reduction of the original Toyota seven wastes to improve overall customer value, but there are varying perspectives on how this is best achieved. The steady growth of Toyota, from a small company to the world's largest automaker,[3] has focused attention on how it has achieved this success.
There are several key lean manufacturing principles that need to be understood in order to implement lean. Failure to understand and apply these principles will most likely result in failure or a lack of commitment from everyone in your organization. Without commitment the process becomes ineffective. Consider these to be the "guiding principles" of lean manufacturing as there are others that have not been included.

Facility location implies all processes of determining a geographic location for firm’s operations. Selecting a proper facility location tend to be much more complex with globalisation. Presently, United Republic of Tanzania has transferred her capital city from former city, Dar to Dodoma
city. On the facility location framework, this term paper discussed environment, weather condition, transportation, security issues and rationale of the city on the appropriateness of Dodoma as capital city.

This case study is conducted within the context of the Theory of Constraints. The field research reported in this document contains information specific to the telecommunications industry. An examination of the history, organization design, problems and solutions for one telecommunications company are undertaken from the perspective of academic work in the Theory of Constraints. The information included in this document was developed through interviews with four senior managers including the President, the Chief Technology Officer, a Vice President and a department manager. Their responses were the basis of identifying problems and undesirable effects. The undesirable effects were diagramed in six UDE clouds dealing with the following issues: 1- unclear vision from management to employees; 2- supplier; 3- market; 4- the price and regulation environment; 5- production; and 6- bureaucracy. La finalidad es proporcionar al ingeniero de minas herramientas que no solo permitan conocer e interpretar condiciones / índices de  operación; sino también facilitar en la toma de decisiones sobre reorientaciones del curso en las operaciones tan dinámicas que son una permanente característica en mina. Por ello se trabaja en el rendimiento de equipos y proyecciones para el aumento de la productividad. La toma de datos fue realizada en operaciones principales de producción tales como perforación,  voladura, movimiento de tierras y extracción. La obtención de índices de productividad óptimos, derivará en mejores condiciones y por consiguiente el nivel de competitividad irá en aumento, un objetivo tan común; pero a la vez tan primordial.

In this paper simple design has obtained to reduce the cost and space of computer table. Our product multifunctional computer table is a combine form of projector table, computer table, reading and writing table. This table can be made by using different types of materials. We have done a lot of surveys and included the survey chart. After doing all this, we think that this product will be a real market capturing product.

This paper outlines a mechanism for the development and implementation of a strategic performance management framework within government departments in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The work also addresses corporate performance management for governmental organizations dealing with service and operations with the aim of evaluating existing performance management systems and identifying major issues and challenges affecting their implementation. This research has enabled the identification of the most appropriate systems and indicators for utilization within all
government divisions. Thus, through the use of effective performance management systems, an organization can develop performance related strategies and generate accurate and timely reports pertinent to organizational management activities. Consequently, organizational leaders and senior managers are equipped for decision-making based on proper measures, with the aim of boosting organizational efficiency and productivity.

This paper is an attempt to discuss and present some considerations concerning the advantages and relationships involving the adoption of the SBU - Strategic Business Unit concepts and business management in a broad sense. The paper discusses some aspects which must be clarified before a full adoption of the concepts. Based on the literature and the author's experience in business consultancy, the paper suggests a methodological approach which aims to help managers to define, analyse and understand the effects of the adoption of the SBU concepts, considering the typical competitive dimensions (critical success factors) involved in any kind of business.

Kondisi inilah yang mendorong siswa berpikir untuk masa depan dalam meningkatkan mutu sumber daya manusia (SDM).

This report analyses the major operational crisis of KFC which led to its fall of brand value and experienced a decline in sales and profit. It critically discusses the different aspects of operational strategy with market requirements, competitive advantages and its performance objective. Operating under the Yum brand, KFC lost the trust of the customers and had faced protest across globe.
The study shows the various areas of improvements using various models and frameworks to renounce into market. The importance –performance matrix is applied to KFC to understand the factors that could impact the customers directly for aligning and organising the resources. The operation strategy matrix helped to discuss various decision areas in KFC by mapping the different performance objective which contributed to market competitiveness. The analysis also uses a four-stage model of operation contribution which describes the various stages of improvements of KFC. The report high lists the importance of CSR value for the brand, enhancing the customer service and creating its brand value. An analysis has been done by using Porter’s five forces to understand the brand from all the aspects. As the frameworks we applied, the recommendations were simultaneously made.
The study shows the unethical usage of antibiotics which is an alarming situation for the brand as well as for its shareholders and stakeholders. This would have a major impact on its sales and profits. The suggestions in the report are made on the basis of providing various allegations faced by the brand. Be it unethical supply chain in China or unhygienic outlets in Australia.
The report was designed by studying and researching various articles from newspapers and books on operation management and operation strategy. Finally the report ends with conclusion and a summarization of recommendation.

Penerapan manajemen risiko di PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Persero) yang selanjutnya disebut IPC dalam makalah ini sebagai salah satu pilar praktek Tata Kelola Perusahaan Yang Baik / Good Corporate Governance (GCG) telah dilaksanakan sejak tahun 2005 dengan ditetapkannya Surat Keputusan Direksi Nomor : HK. 56/3/19/PI.II-05 tentang Penerapan Sistem Manajemen Risiko Di Lingkungan PT. (Persero) Pelabuhan Indonesia pada tanggal 6 Juni 2005.    Undang – undang Pelayaran No. 17 Tahun 2008 yang membuka peluang adanya kompetisi dalam bisnis kepelabuhanan turut menjadi alasan pentingnya praktek GCG melalui implementasi Sistem Manajemen Risiko IPC.

Tujuan dari penerapan GCG dalam perspektif risiko oleh PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Persero) adalah untuk meningkatkan kepercayaan stakeholders kepada perusahaan dengan memperkecil kerugian yang akan timbul (potential loss) melalui penerapan sistem manajemen risiko secara konsisten, berkesinambungan dan didukung profesionalisme, sumber daya serta sistem informasi yang handal atas seluruh risiko yang timbul akibat kegiatan perusahaan.

Prinsip – prinsip GCG yaitu transparansi, akuntabilitas, responsibilitas, independensi dan fairness (kewajaran) menjadi spirit dalam praktek manajemen risiko mengacu pada pendekatan proses manajemen risiko pada ISO 31000 yang di dalamnya terdapat tahapan komunikasi dan konsultasi, penetapan konteks, identifikasi risiko, analisa risiko, evaluasi risiko, penanganan risiko dan peninjauan serta pemantauan secara berkesinambungan terhadap risiko.

Direksi IPC dalam pengambilan keputusan/tindakan telah mempertimbangkan risiko usaha. Hal ini tercermin dalam penyusunan Rencana Kerja dan Anggaran / Pendapatan (RKAP) dengan justifikasi analisa risiko. Direksi telah menyampaikan laporan profil manajemen risiko dan penanganannya bersamaan dengan laporan berkala perusahaan pada setiap triwulan kepada Dewan Komisaris sebagai perwakilan pemegang saham c,q Komite Manajemen Risiko. Dari hasil identifikasi risiko di Kantor Pusat dan seluruh Cabang Pelabuhan / Unit kerja / Satuan Kerja  pada tahun 2012, IPC mencatat adanya 1.680 risiko dalam Risk Register korporat.

Direksi memandang perlu dilakukan upaya penyempurnaan sistem manajemen risiko yang dibangun secara swakelola dan diterapkan oleh IPC sejak tahun 2005 dengan maksud untuk membentuk Sistem Manajemen Risiko dengan standar ISO 31000 yang lebih efektif, tanggap dan cepat merespon perubahan strategi dan tujuan perusahaan. Untuk mewujudkan hal tersebut Direksi IPC mengambil langkah strategis yakni kebijakan investasi non fisik tahun 2012 berupa Pekerjaan Konsultansi Pembangunan Enterprise Risk Management (ERM).
