The aim of the present study is the detection, identification and recovery of Armenian autochthon long-neglected endangered grapevine varieties, by development of the electronic catalogue of grapes, with genetic passport information, ampelography data and photos.

dan Hutan Lindung Gunung Sibuatan, Sumatera Utara telah dilakukan pada tanggal 19 Mei-6 Juni 2014. Tujuan eksplorasi di dua lokasi
ini adalah untuk mendokumentasikan keanekaragaman flora dataran tinggi basah lokal serta mengumpulkan spesimen hidup maupun
herbarium dalam rangka pengkayaan koleksi di Kebun Raya Cibodas (KRC). Metode yang digunakan adalah eksploratif lapangan. Tim
eksplorasi berhasil mengumpulkan spesimen hidup sebanyak 431 nomor koleksi dengan 34,33% diperkirakan koleksi baru KRC, serta
45 nomor herbarium dari dua lokasi Gunung Sibuatan, Sumatera Utara, dan Gunung Talamau, Sumatera Barat. Perolehan sebaran suku
terbanyak antara lain Lauraceae, Orchidaeae, Rubiaceae, dan Annonaceae. Beberapa jenis tumbuhan diinventarisasi memiliki potensi
sebagai tanaman hias, tanaman obat, serta tanaman pangan. Ditemukan pula tumbuhan langka berdasarkan IUCN Red List, yaitu
Symplocos canescens B. Ståhl (Vulnerable B1ab(iii) Ver 3.1), dan Nepenthes spectabilis Danser (Vulnerable D2 Ver.2.3).

С применением современных молекулярно-генетических методов создана комплексная научно обоснованная схема поддержания, сохранения и изучения образцов репрезентативных коллекций растительных ресурсов ЦБС НАН Беларуси, которые являются частью национального и глобального биологического разнообразия, основой проведения широкого спектра научных
исследований, реализации образовательных программ. Полученные данные по ДНК-типированию образцов хозяйственно ценных коллекций включены в отдельный раздел «Биохимические паспорта» информационно-поисковой системы Hortus Botanicus Centralis – Info (№ ГР 20053449 от 14.11.2005). Они служат источником данных для сайтов «Ботанические коллекции Беларуси» (http://hbc.bas-net.by/bcb) и разделов портала Совета ботанических садов России, Беларуси и Казахстана (http://hortusbotanicus.ru), что дает основу для расширения сотрудничества и информационного обмена в целях сохранения биоразнообразия.
Abstract. Using modern molecular genetic methods, a comprehensive scientifically based scheme has been created for maintaining, preserving and studying samples of the representative collections of plant resources of the Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (CBG), which are part of the national and global biological diversity, the basis for a wide range of scientific research, the implementation of educational programs. The obtained data on DNA typing of samples of economically valuable collections are included in a separate section "Biochemical passports" of the information retrieval system Hortus Botanicus Centralis - Info (No. GR 20053449 dated November 14, 2005). They serve as a source of data for the sites "Botanical Collections of Belarus" (http://hbc.bas-net.by/bcb) and sections of the portal of the Council of Botanical Gardens of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan (http://hortusbotanicus.ru), which provides the basis to enhance cooperation and information exchange for the conservation of plant biodiversity.

This volume is the first critical review of the Crimean vascular flora’s diversity in the 21st century. It contains data on 2536 species and subspecies in 5 divisions, 127 families, and 760 genera, including ca. 900 nomenclatural and taxonomical amendments, with their explanations and documentation. The book includes also a theoretical compendium with essays on the origin of the Crimean flora, history of its exploration, discussion on the concepts of natural flora and species based on a broad list of 612 references.

Abstract. Praptosuwiryo TN, Sumanto, Cahyaningsih. 2019. Diversity and host preferences of ferns and lycopods epiphytes on palm trees. Biodiversitas 20: 3731-3740. Epiphytic ferns contribute importantly to the global biodiversity of tropical rain forests. However, our knowledge of the ecology of epiphytic ferns is phenomenally still limited. Most studies on the ecology, floristic and diversity of epiphytic ferns and lycopods were reported outside of Malesian region. This study aimed: (i) to figure out the diversity of ferns and lycopods on palm trees of the lowland areas by analyzing its species richness and floristic composition, and (ii) to determine the host preferences of epiphytic ferns on palm trees. Twenty-eight phorophyte species belonging to 17 genera of palm trees, growing at Bogor Botanic Gardens, were observed. Trunk of palm trees was divided into three zones (basal, middle and upper). Individual numbers for each species of epiphytic fern growing on each zone were recorded. Epiphytic fern species which were most commonly found were analyzed statistically to determine their preference for the host trees. A total of 16 species of epiphytic ferns and lycopods were recorded. The greatest richness of species occurred in Polypodiaceae (50%). Habitual true epiphyte was the predominant ecological category, representing 75 % of the species. Caryota no Becc. hosted the greatest number of ferns and lycopods 8 species) while Attalea insignis (Mart.) Drude hosted the fewest (2 species). Individual numbers of six epiphytic fern species were significantly affected by palm trees species, namely Belvisia callifolia (Christ) Copel., Pyrrosia lanceolata (L.) Farwell, Pyrrosia piloselloides (L.) M.G. Price, Davallia denticulata (Burm.) Mett., Nephrolepis biserrata (Sw.) Schott, Vittaria ensiformis Sw. Individual numbers of five epiphytic fern species were significantly affected by zone of the host plant. Nephrolepis biserrata tends to grow well in the upper zone. Pyrrosia lanceolata tends to be abundant in the middle zone. B. callifolia, D. denticulata, and V. ensiformis grow well and make dense populations in the basal zone.

A protocol for the mass propagation of Anthurium andreanum cv. Jewel has been developed through callus induction and organogenesis using leaf lamina as explant. MS basal medium containing 3 mg L-1 2,4-D + 0.5 mg L-1 BAP + 0.4 mg L-1 TDZ took minimum number of days (37.68) to initiate callus. However, maximum callus production was observed in the media containing 2 mg L-1 NAA (77.33%). Young leaves exhibited better responses and the calli were compact and dark green. The shoots were initiated later from the calluses by inoculating on MS media containing 3.0 mg L-1 BAP + 0.5 mg L-1 NAA which took a minimum of 27.83 days while MS + 2 mg L-1 BAP + 0.5 mg L-1 NAA gave highest regeneration percentage (98.89%) as well as shoot length of 2.23 cm. Maximum number of shoots per callus (5.83) and highest number of shoots following second subculturing (22.60) were observed when MS basal medium was fortified with 2 mg L-1 BAP singly. For root induction, 1/2MS media supplemented with 2.0 mg L-1 NAA took the least days (33.55). Maximum root induction per plant (5.83) and length (4.28 cm) of root were recorded in 1/2MS + 1.0 mg L-1 NAA. The well rooted Anthurium plantlets were successfully hardened in coconut husk with highest survival percentage of 96.17 per cent at vermiculite + coconut husk (1:1, w/w).

This research was carried out to assess the plant species diversity in Nasarawa State, Nigeria with a view to obtain an accurate database and inventory of the naturally occurring plant species in the state for reference and research purposes. This preliminary report covers a total of nine local government areas in the state. The work involved intensive survey and visits to the sample sites for this exercise. The diversity status of each plant and the distribution across the state were also determined using standard method. A total of number of 244 plant species belonging to 57 plant families were identified out of which the families, Asteraceae, Poaceae, Combretaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Moraceae and Papilionaceae were the most highly distributed across the entire study area. There was great extent of diversity in the distribution of plants across all the areas sampled with the highest in Wamba LGA. The most predominant food crop across the state was Sorgum spp. followed by Sesame indica and then Zea mays. The total percentage occurrence of herbs, shrubs and trees in the study area are 31.19, 16.29 and 47.91%, respectively. This preliminary work has provided a baseline data and reference point for future taxonomical stratagem in Nasarawa State.

In recent years an interdisciplinary nexus has been generated around what it means to experience life as a plant. From the science of plant behaviours, plant language and meaning-making to plant-based philosophy, plant enquiries are crossing disciplinary and conceptual boundaries. The everyday life of a plant can appear to be static and silent to human perception. And yet, as modern science narratives tell their stories, we are realising that plants live in complex, and often social worlds. Removing plants from the human view makes it easier for us to exploit them and appears accordingly to reduce our ability to see into their worlds. In this research study we ask how, by taking a different view through an interdisciplinary lens, might we improve our understanding and sensitivity to the lives of plants? Thus, our research contributes to policy contexts in which society cannot afford its citizens to be plant blind to contemporary conservation issues.

Relation between plants and cultures is indispensable. The link between culture and plant resources was explored first time for the Basikhel tribe of Tor Ghar District. This tribe is one of the largest tribe of District Tor Ghar. It has long established tribal culture. The study was conducted during the years 2012 and 2013. The information was gathered from 200 informants from 15 randomly selected villages. Data was obtained through semi structured interviews, group discussions and EPA. The local people use 250 species of the vascular plants belonging to 90 families for 23 different cultural uses such as food, fodder, timber, fuel wood, medicine, furniture and agricultural implements. The inhabitants of the area are highly dependent on local flora for their different cultural needs. Total of 150 species belonging to 50 families were documented for the medicinal uses. Informant consensus showed that wound healing and gastrointestinal treatment were ranked highest among all medicinal uses. For each plant its botanical name, family name, local names and conservation status was also recorded. Three species were found most threatened. This study is a part of an ongoing research project in which we will explore plant resources utilized by five different tribes of the District Tor Ghar in the near future.

We conducted a phyto-ecological analysis of the Sebkha Djendli located in the semi-arid lands of the north-eastern Algeria in order to contribute in the understanding of flora composition, diversity and factors controlling plant zonation. Eight plots, distributed on the cardinal and intercardinal points of the site, were sampled. A floristic analysis (species richness, life forms, spatial occurrence, plant cover rate and similarity) and an assessment of the effect of soil salinity and pH on the cover of dominant halophytes were performed. The results of the floristic approach showed the presence of 50 species belonging to 21 families and 45 genera. The most frequent biological types were therophytes (40%) followed by hemicryptophyte (22%) and chamaephytes (18%). Vegetation cover rate ranged from 50% to 95%. The distribution of vegetation all around the edges of the Sabkha revealed the dominance of halophytic species belonging to the family Chenopodiaceae. The variation of total halophytic vegetation cover over all sampled plots seems to be affected neither by the distance from waterbody nor by plot orientation nor by the electrical conductivity and pH of soil.
