Диссертация посвящена изучению народной традиции толкования сновидений в восточнославянской культуре. Основной материал исследования – рассказы о вещих снах, записанные автором в Полтавской области (2012–2018 гг.). Целью работы является выявление механизмов интерпретации сновидений, которые не отражены (или отражены слабо) в традиционных правилах толкования снов («устных сонниках»). Для этого описываются устойчивые нарративные схемы, характерные для рассказов о сновидениях, имеющих сходную логику интерпретации. Анализируя тексты, можно заключить, что сновидец обладает достаточно большой свободой при толковании сна. На осмысление сюжета сновидения влияют эмоционально-чувственная составляющая сновидческого опыта, индивидуальные ассоциации сновидца, а также контекст, в котором рассказывается и интерпретируется сон. Однако, несмотря на уникальность сновидений и обстоятельств, в рамках которых они получают интерпретацию, толкования снов отнюдь не произвольны и подчиняются закрепленным в традиции моделям, которые подробно рассмотрены в работе. Данные модели выводятся при анализе развернутых рассказов о снах, их невозможно выявить на материале толковательных текстов «если снится X – будет Y». Инвариантные структуры нарративов о вещих сновидениях коррелируют не столько c формулами «устного сонника», сколько с моделями, лежащими в основе фольклорных текстов других жанров (загадки, сказки, былички и др.).

The thesis investigates the folk tradition of dream interpretation in the eastern Slavic culture. Essential materials for the research are narratives about prophetic dreams recorded by the author in the Poltava region (2012–2018 years). The work aims at describing the ways of dream interpretation, which are (almost) not reflected in the “oral dream books” (commentaries of informants accompanying the story about a prophetic dream, and other explanatory narratives). For this purpose, the author describes invariant narrative schemes that are common for narratives about prophetic dreams containing the similar logic of interpretation. Analyzing the texts, we can conclude that a dreamer has pretty much freedom in attributing interpretations to dreams. Interpretation of a dream plot depends on emotional and sensual components of dream experience, individual associations of a dreamer, and a context in which a dream is told and interpreted. In spite of the singularity of every dream and dreamer, the traditional interpretations of dream plots are not arbitrary: they come down to the models, which are revealed in the work. These invariant narrative structures (“interpretation models”) can be derived from the prophetic dream narratives, but not from brief formulae “if you see in the dream X, it predicts Y in reality”. The common structures of dream plots (which have similar “prophetic meaning”) correlate with the narrative schemas underlying the folklore texts of other genres (riddles, fairy tales, belief narratives and so on).

The origins of the Early Medieval Slavic culture and the problem of the Slavs ancestral homeland in the Polish archaeological research — a historical overview.

The earliest history of the Slavs is one of the most interesting, and at the same time the most difficult and contentious research problems addressed by Polish archaeologists. Since the turn of the 1980s there has been a tendency for a dual approach in the considerations on the issues related to the genesis of the Early Medieval culture of the Slavs and the location of the ancestral homeland of these people from the time before the 6th century. Basically, the division into supporters of the two concepts — known as the western (the autochthonous) and eastern (allochthonous) remains valid. On the one hand, arguments are presented intending to provide the support for the idea of the autochthonous origins of the Slavs in the basins of the Odra and the Vistula river and the local roots of their Early Medieval culture. On the other — the hypothesis about the Eastern European beginnings of these people and migrant nature of the Slavic settlement on the present-day territory of Poland is supported. The following article outlines the history of the research on the aforementioned matters, including the basic theoretical assumptions and major publications on the development of the Early Slavic culture.

Образ сверчка в славянской мифопоэтике относится к малоизученным в силу ограниченности и противоречивости фактического материала. Однако привлечение косвенных источников и мето‐ дов исследования позволило прояснить некоторые черты этого образа и выдвинуть гипотезы о его роли и месте в архаической картине мира. Ключевые слова: сверчок, образ, миф, фольклор, славянская культура. Образ цвіркуна в слов'янській міфопоетиці відноситься до маловивчених в силу обмеженості й суперечливості фактичного матеріалу. Але залучення непрямих джерел та методів дослідження дозволило прояснити деякі риси цього образу і висунути гіпотези про його роль та місце в архаїчній картині світу. The image of cricket in Slavic mythopoetics is still poorly studied one due to the limited and contradictive character of factual material. However, having involved indirect sources and research methods we got possibility to clarify some features of this image and suggest hypotheses about its role and place in the archaic world picture.

Conceptual domain of dying and death in many cultures involves an important distinction between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ death. The author gives a brief outline of the construction of death as ‘good’ or ‘bad’ in Slavic culture as reflected in Slavic languages. The Proto‑Slavic word *sъmьrtь (> S.‑Cr. smrt) is known to be originally employed to refer to the former concept, whereas the latter one is expressed by lexical items belonging to the word family of the Proto‑Slavic verb *gybnǫti (> S.‑Cr. ginuti). In this paper possible reasons underlying the
use of this verb as an expression of ‘bad death’ are explored.

Статья посвящена пересказу и критическому анализу книги Е.В. Сафронова «Сновидения в традиционной культуре», которую можно назвать первым монографическим исследованием рассказов о сновидениях в русском фольклоре. Книга будет полезна многим специалистам, изучающим народные верования, нарративы о визионерском опыте, фольклорные и речевые жанры. Надеюсь, моя рецензия поможет читателям найти этот труд и лучше сориентироваться в его содержании.

Väčšinou sa rôznych náboženských skupinách stretávame s priamym
zadelením dobra a zla. Presným definovaním toho, čo je dobré, správne,
výhodné a jeho opaku, čo sa následne prejavuje v obmedzeniach, napr. v
jedálničku, ale častokrát zasahujú do celkovej slobody človeka. To ale u
Slovanov, ako aj v kultúre pôvodných obyvateľov Ameriky a iných viac s
prírodou spätých, nenájdete. Možno sú obmedzenia v tejto kultúre
stratené spolu s inými vecami niekde v minulosti, ale úprimne túto
slovanskú nestrannosť potvrdzujú aj arabský cestopisci a historici a
väčšina dnes dochovaných alebo zmodernizovaných slovanských
poviedok, napr. zbierka Černokňažník od J. Černáka alebo svetoznámy
Zaklínač. Napríklad, kým v kresťanstve sú diabol a jeho sluhovia
zosobnením všetkého ľudského nešťastia a Boh, Ježiš Kristus je jediným
Spasiteľom, v slovanskej náture sú všetci stotožnený s tým, že stvoriteľ
Rod je vlastne aj Belobogom aj Černobogom a ani oni, ani ich potomkovia
nie sú žiadnou definíciou dobra či zla."

The book under review is of an anthological character the parts of which are dealing ratherloosely with the main subjects enumerated in the title. There is a comparatively large spreadin the authors’ choice of topics ranging from anthroponomy to orthographic issues, from phraseology to literary criticism, from translatology to methodical remarks concerning uni-versity language teaching and from etymology to linguistic relations. It should be pointedout that the papers are not grouped according to the main subjects but follow the alphabet-ical order of their authors’ names, which probably corresponds to the order in which theywere read at the conference. All the papers in this volume are dealing with some specific phenomena of Slavic cultures, literatures, and languages. The characteristic features ofSlavic cultures are approached in this book from a variety of views.

The present paper investigates the Slavic ritual of burning the effigy of Morena with special regard to its Polish relations.  Morena has many names (Morana, Marena, Muriena, kysel, kisze, kyselica) which are used by the Slavic ethnic minorities living in Hungary (in the former Hont county and also in other counties, such as Nógrád, Pest and Heves). The burning of Morena is an old folk custom and popular among the Slovaks living in Hungary. It is one of the ancient pagan annual rituals of farewell to winter and welcome spring. The villagers create a straw effigy and dress it in beautiful garments, then take it out of the village, strip it of its splendid clothing, burn it and drown it in water. This happens mostly in the first days of spring (on Palm Sunday in villages inhabited by the Slovaks living in Hungary). The ritual marks the end of winter, but in a broader sense it is the act of chasing away disease and all evil forces. The burning of Morena occured already in the 14th-15th century chronicles mentioning it as a pagan remnant. The ritual is also known as Marzanna in Poland. An interesting 16th century variant of this known as jedlińskie kusaki and linked to the end of carnival season has survived in the city of Jedlińsk to the present day. The Judas burning known and performed in rural areas around the town of Gorlice and linked to the Easter may also be well considered to be a surviving version of a pagan ritual in Christian form. 

W niniejszym artykule zwracamy uwagę na słowiański rytuał palenia Mareny (Marzanny) ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem jego polskich relacji. Jest to obrzęd mający swoje korzenie w najdawniejszych czasach pogańskich należący do rytuałów służących do pożegnania zimy i powitania wiosny. Palenie Mareny jest znane Słowianom na Węgrzech pod wieloma nazwami (np. Marena, Moréna, Muriena, kysel, kisze, kyselica). Było ono niegdyś szczególnie popularne wśród Słowaków, którzy żyli w starym komitacie Hont oraz w komitatach takich jak Nógrád, Pest i Heves. Kilkanaście dni przed świętami mieszkańcy wsi szyli wielką kukłę, wypychali ją trocinami i ubierali ją w kolorowe ubranie. Kukłę tę wyobrażającą Marenę czyli zimę wywozili poza granice wsi, gdzie podpalali ją i wrzucali do wody. Zwykle miało to miejsce w ostatni zapustny wtorek czy w pierwszych dniach wiosny,  (w węgierskich wsiach zamieszkałych przez Słowaków w Niedzielę Palmową). Obrzęd ten symbolizował nie tylko koniec zimy, ale także wypędzenie i zniweczenie śmierci i wraz z nią wszystkich złych duchów. Kroniki z 14 i 15 wieku już wspominają o obrzędzie palenia Mareny jako o zwyczaju mającym pogańskie korzenie. Zwyczaj ten jako Marzanna znany jest również w Polsce. Jedna jego wersja związana z Zapustami nazywa się jedlińskie kusaki. Zachowały się one po dziś dzień w miejscowości Jedlińsko. Podobny zwyczaj zwany judaszkami i związany z liturgią Wielkiego Tygodnia zachował się w okolicach Gorlic. Wyżej wspomniane obrzędy mogą być uważane za żywe wersje dawnych pogańskich rytuałów w chrześcijańskiej szacie.

Составление календаря славянской ритуальной куклы позволяет упорядочить и структуриро‐ вать информацию о роли и месте куклы в сезонных ритуалах и задать соответствующий дискурс для исследования трансформации смыслового содержания традиционной куклы при трансляции в современную культуру. Ключевые слова: кукла, ритуал, праздник, славянская культура, традиция, календарь, Коза, мифо‐ поэтический образ, символ, народная сказка. Складання календаря слов'янскої ритуальної ляльки дозволяє впорядкувати й структурувати інформацію щодо ролі і місця ляльки в сезонних ритуалах та задати відповідний дискурс для дослі‐ дження трансформації смислового вмісту традиційної ляльки при трансляції в сучасну культуру. Ключові слова: лялька, ритуал, свято, слов'янська культура, традиція, календар, Коза, міфопоети‐ чний образ, символ, народна казка. Making a Slavic ritual dollcalendar allows to arrange structurally the information about the role of dolls in seasonal rituals formulating an appropriate discourse to investigate the of the traditional dolls' semantic content transformation when translation into the contemporary culture.
