Kurzfassung

Die vorliegende Bachelorarbeit gibt einen Überblick über die größten Hürden für das Wachstum der Podcast-Märkte in Deutschland und den USA. Gleichzeitig schafft sie einen Überblick über Möglichkeiten diese Hürden zu überwinden. Ein Großteil der Arbeit beschäftigt sich dabei mit der Monetarisierung bzw. Kommerzia-lisierung von Podcasts. Dabei wurde klar, dass es insbesondere in den USA zahl-reiche Monetarisierungs-Möglichkeiten gibt und der Markt möglicherweise vor ei-nem starken Wandel steht. Dies liegt u. a. daran, dass das Podcasting im Aufwind ist und von immer mehr Leuten genutzt wird. Die vorliegende Arbeit zeigt zudem, dass auf vielen Ebenen eine große Dynamik herrscht. So geht die Arbeit auf Da-tenerfassungen im Podcasting, Plattformen sowie Podcast-Netzwerke ein. Ein kleinerer Teil beschäftigt sich mit den vergleichsweise großen technischen Hürden Podcasts zu erstellen bzw. sie zu abonnieren. Zudem soll ein Einblick in die Zu-kunft gewährt werden. Hierbei könnten auch die Durchsuchbarkeit von Audio so-wie die automatische Transkription eine sehr große Rolle spielen. Um möglichst vielfältige Meinungen und Ideen zu bündeln, wurden neben einer ausführlichen Literaturrecherche dazu sechs Experten in qualitativen Interviews befragt.
Die Bachelorarbeit ist sowohl für Podcast-Produzenten als auch für Sozial- und Wirtschaftswissenschaftler interessant.

Abstract

This bachelor thesis gives an overview of the biggest obstacles to the growth of the podcast market in Germany and the USA. It also shows possibilities on how to over-come these hurdles. A big part of the thesis focuses on the monetization and commercialization of Podcasts. Within the last years, podcast-consumption has been on the rise so that there are numerous monetization-opportunities especially in the USA. Also, the market might face major changes. Furthermore, the study shows that there is great momentum on many levels. So the thesis also concen-trates on data collection in podcasting, platforms and podcast-networks. A smaller part is devoted to technical obstacles. It is still relatively hard to launch a podcast, and for many people it also seems unlikely to subscribe to a podcast due to tech-nical aspects. In addition, the thesis tries to offer a glimpse into the future. Here, the searchability of audio and automatic transcription could play very large role. In order to bundle various opinions and ideas, six experts were consulted in qualita-tive interviews in addition to a detailed literature review.
The thesis is interesting for anybody who takes great interest in podcasting as well as for social- and economic-scientist.

In the present world, the role of social media, as the important and actual tool of marketing communication is relevant for operation of commercial organizations, since according to various studies, the number of social media users amounts ¬¬¬¬to nearly half of the world population; consequently, social network platforms developed into important channel of communication between commercial organizations and their target audiences. The said world trend determines actuality of the theme discussed in the present work.
The present Master’s Thesis: “Social Media Competence and the Importance of Its Position on the Example of Specific Organizations” looks at representation of Georgian commercial organizations on social media platforms; the scope of the paper encompasses studying communication competence of the said commercial organizations and consequent assessment of professional competences of Georgia’s social media professionals.
Taking into account scarcity of literature and relevant Georgian market specific studies  on social media marketing, the aim of this study is to motivate next-stage development of this field in Georgia which is a prerequisite for satisfying  trends and requirements existing in the contemporary world.     
In the framework of this study, the author looked at the potential, platforms and functional specifics of the social media sphere; in the course of the work performed, relevant literature was reviewed, both Georgian and international statistical data on social media was gathered and analyzed, qualitative and quantitative studies were conducted. 
In order to meet the aims of the thesis, relevant design was selected for the study to be implemented in the form of a qualitative self-administered questionnaire survey conducted online, encompassing primarily closed and categorical questions, including one open and one multiple-choice question, in total 37 questions. 
Sampling, the target population of which were Georgian customers of social media, was conducted in June 2019 (2.06.2019 – 28.06.2019), through non-randomized sampling method. The qualitative study covers responses received from 210 interviewees.
Qualitative study was conducted employing so called content-analysis  technique for content-wise and technical audit of representation of three Georgian commercial organizations - “Samoseli Pirveli”, “Alaznistavi” and “Soplidan” - on social media platform “Facebook”. In order to avoid bias in selection, principle of selection of these companies was based on their participation in the competition for nomination - “ Creation of Best Product or Service”  and prize for “Digital Strategy and New Website”  - both organized  by JSC “ TBC BANK” - leading company for  social media marketing, generally innovative decision-making and conduct of marketing campaigns.
The results of the study show that unfortunately competence in the field of social media marketing is lacking in Georgia.  No implications can be drawn from qualitative and quantitative studies conducted.  Notwithstanding the fact, that companies selected for analysis were among those  nominated  by JSC “ TBC BANK”,  respondents participating in quantitative study preceding the conduct of the qualitative study, did not name  any of the  companies studied by the author for content-analysis in the framework of the qualitative study. 
Quantitative study results showed that respondents were actively using social media platforms for communication, information gathering, are subscribers of Georgian websites, yet they are completely disregarding commercial organization blogs and are irresponsive to commercial advertisements (57.3% of respondents). 61.8% of those interviewed say commercial organization pages on all platforms are filled in with similar type of content, which is not as interesting as to motivate subscribers to react. The study showed that majority of organizations are not exploiting social media management tools – monitoring system, artificial intelligence programs, leaving them unable to fully take advantage of social media. The abovementioned attests to low level of digital literacy in the country.
Based on the analysis conducted, it can be said that two pillars viewed by the author as  prerequisites for social media management development in Georgia are  professional education and  awareness raising of the society, in particular raising responsiveness of managers of commercial organizations.

Un specialist în sfera marketingului online știe cum să formuleze o reclamă, atât ca impact emoțional, cât și vizual, și mai ales, ce tehnici și ce unelte să folosească pentru a maximiza rezultatul unei campanii de promovare. El va face tot posibilul să mențină o prezență cât mai activă pe cât mai multe rețele sociale, va construi treptat o bază solidă de persoane, a căror interacțiune o va stârni, va lansa mai multe modele de reclame sau de pagini web și va analiza care performează cel mai bine, se va folosi de fiecare statistică disponibilă pentru a înțelege rezultatele obținute, pentru a vedea ce trebuie să îmbunătățească. Va petrece ore întregi pentru a vă crește afacerea, va face foarte multe lucruri, care privite din exterior par puține, însă cel mai greu lucru va fi să vă convingă de ce roata este rotundă și nu pătrată, de ce trebuie folosite anumite metode, anumite bugete și de ce marketingul online poate face diferența între a avea o afacere de succes, sau a intra în faliment în anonimat.

Ce travail est basé sur l'étude d'un milieu social et musical sur internet, la vaporwave. Mon but a été de décrypter et de comprendre comment ces espaces de vie s'organisent, et ce que leurs spécificités engendrent sur la musique et les comportements autour de celle-ci. En effet, au début du XXIème siècle, grâce à l'ordinateur et internet, la musique est devenu malléable et hyper-accessible. Ces objets ont redéfini nos rapports avec la musique, et la vaporwave, en tant que premier style musical à naître et perdurer sur internet, a incarné cela. Ces nouveaux moyens de communication ont révolutionné les manières de s'organiser, de créer et de vivre ensemble. Les places virtuelles publiques sont nombreuses et les conversations privées sont mondialisées. Cette redéfinition des objets, et donc des espaces, laisse place à de nouvelles pratiques musicales et sociales, et met en avant les relations de pseudonymat ou d'anonymat. Ma méthode a consisté essentiellement en une étude de terrain virtuel basée sur l'observation des espaces du web et des entretiens individuels, par webchat, auprès d'artistes, médiateurs et auditeurs du monde entier. L'outil sociologique s'est révélé très pertinent pour analyser ce mouvement musical. Etant le premier style s'organisant fondamentalement en ligne, la vaporwave est un bon exemple pour explorer les interactions entre chaque monde, les sites, comme éléments d'un seul univers, le web.

The following work is based on the study of a musical and social environment on the internet, known as the vaporwave. My focus was to decrypt and understand how these living spaces are organized, and how their specificities generated singular music and behaviours. Indeed, at the beginning of the XXIth century, thanks to the computer and the internet, music became adaptable and hyper-available. Those devices defined our relations with music, and vaporwave, as one of the first musical genre that was born and prospered on the internet, embodies this idea. Those new means of communication revolutionized our way of organizing, building and living together. The public virtual plazas are numerous and the private conversations are international. This redefining of the objects, and thus the space, give way to new musical and social practices, and highlights the anonymity and pseudonymity of relationships. My methodology was to do a virtual field study based on the observations of the internet spaces and to interview, via web chat, artists, mediators and audiences all over the world. The sociological tool proved to be relevant to analyse this musical movement. As one of the first genre of music organized online, vaporwave provided a suitable example for exploration of the interactions between each world, the websites, as part of one universe, the web.

We examine two 'producer-oriented' audio distribution platforms, SoundCloud and Bandcamp, that have been important repositories for the hopes of musicians, commentators and audiences that digital technologies and cultural platforms might promote democratisation of the cultural industries, and we compare their achievements and limitations in this respect. We show that the emancipatory elements enshrined in SoundCloud's 'bottom-up' abundance are compromised by two elements that underpin the platform: the problematic 'culture of connectivity' of the social media systems to which it must remain integrally linked, and the systems of intellectual property that the firm has been increasingly compelled to enforce. By contrast, it seems that Bandcamp has been relatively stable in financial terms while being at odds with some key aspects of 'platformization', and we explore the possibility that some of the platform's apparent success may derive from how...

Resumen: La tecnología del podcasting ha conocido un considerable crecimiento durante estos últimos años, facilitada por circunstancias como la consolidación de la web semántica manual o web 2.0 y el surgimiento de la figura del prosumidor de contenidos. Desde el punto de vista de su evolución en el tiempo consideramos la existencia de cuatro etapas diferenciadas, a las que denominamos como experimental (finales del siglo XX a 2005), de consolidación (2006 a 2009), multimedia (2010 a 2013) y de eclosión (2014 hasta la actualidad). Se analiza cuál es el grado de utilización de los podcasts para el tratamiento de la temática referida a la difusión del patrimonio cultural en el ámbito específico hispanoparlante. Para ello, se ha examinado la presencia de esta clase de herramientas en dos de las principales plataformas de podcasting a escala internacional: iVoox y SoundCloud.

A multimedia exploration of the results of an experimental method of teaching creative writing by applying a "flipped classroom" approach to fiction writer's workshops, employing audio critiqures on soundcloud and commenting features via google docs.

We examine two 'producer-oriented' audio distribution platforms, SoundCloud and Bandcamp, that have been important repositories for the hopes of musicians, commentators and audiences that digital technologies and cultural platforms might promote democratisation of the cultural industries, and we compare their achievements and limitations in this respect. We show that the emancipatory elements enshrined in SoundCloud's 'bottom-up' abundance are compromised by two elements that underpin the platform: the problematic 'culture of connectivity' of the social media systems to which it must remain integrally linked, and the systems of intellectual property that the firm has been increasingly compelled to enforce. By contrast, it seems that Bandcamp has been relatively stable in financial terms while being at odds with some key aspects of 'platformization', and we explore the possibility that some of the platform's apparent success may derive from how its key features makes it attractive to indie musicians and fans drawn to an independent ethos. Nevertheless, we argue, even while in some respects Bandcamp acts more effectively as an 'alternative' than does SoundCloud, the former is also congruent economically and discursively with how platforms capitalise on the activity of self-managing, self-auditing, specialist, worker-users.
