This article critically assesses the recent return of “communism” in contemporary political theory. The principal focus is Alain Badiou’s formulation of the “idea of communism” and its “sequences,” which are approached here in relation to the body of work collected in Douzinas and Žižek’s The Idea of Communism. Critical of Badiou, the article argues that communism should be understood as a “real movement” immanent to the mutating limits of capital, and not as a subjective “truth procedure.” In taking the latter route, Badiou not only produces a faulty philosophy of communism but also misdiagnoses its historical record, allowing Lenin and Mao, the spectacle of revolution, to stand as its genuine expressions. In this, Badiou contributes to the contemporary nostalgic image of a “real communism” that in practice was nothing of the sort.

Existe uma experiência de horror às histórias em quadrinhos. Uma experiência que não se resume a Fredric Wertham e as campanhas antiquadrinhos que tomaram boa parte do mundo nos anos 1950. Da mesma forma, o horror não é restrito a um problema do gênero, no caso, os quadrinhos de terror/horror. O que está em jogo numa experiência de horror é todo o peso de um platonismo das artes, de uma tradição que denuncia a traição das imagens e que encontra na polarização ocasionada pela guerra fria a razão de sua moral. Com isso, a hipérbole dos super- heróis, a metáfora da ficção científica, a cumplicidade do humor, o retrato do crime, a exuberância da guerra, o costume do amor romântico – tudo isto se torna o sintoma de uma indefinição, uma ameaça ao infante leitor de quadrinhos, aquele para quem as imagens do mundo precisam cumprir uma tarefa idealizadora. É preciso então recorrer a uma sintomatologia da experiência pelas histórias em quadrinhos, o estudo do horror naquilo em que ele é incapaz de se articular plenamente enquanto discurso. Uma história das sarjetas – do espaço de intervalo do meio-dizer, do nascimento das formas. É a uma investigação que recoloca o problema das campanhas antiquadrinhos que este artigo se dedicará.

Despite the multitude of filmmakers and characters that wander these urban environments, locating revelatory findings in its spatial-imaginary as they do, the flâneur remains a surprisingly underdeveloped concept in film theory. A uniquely cinematic version of flânerie may at once work to innovate upon Benjamin’s figure of the flâneur, perceptions of the cityscape, and the capabilities of cinema in general. It is with these several reconstitutive possibilities in mind that this essay questions whether the flâneur might be a concept that intervenes into conventional representations (of cities; of the wandering spectator) to political effect. Certain aesthetic qualities (through which the cinematic flâneur is produced) might themselves be indispensible to the production of politics. In order to contemplate the idea, I consider the relationship between aesthetics and politics in light of the writing of Jacques Rancière, in order to reiterate how it is that I see the flâneur as a concept with a political potential. Using Rancière’s ideas, I argue that the activity of the flâneur is absolutely political, on the proviso that the politics of works of art is understood as playing itself out "in the reconfiguration of worlds of experience...in the way in which modes of narration and new forms of visibility established by artistic practices enter into politics’ own field of aesthetic possibilities."

In order to elaborate upon how a cinematic flâneur performs this “reconfiguration of worlds of experience”, I will consider some moments in 'News from Home' in order to elaborate on how a flâneur is capable of reconfiguring existing environments – both through Akerman’s use of her own everyday, and the everyday activity of the urban population and landscape. In so doing, I wish to promote the possibility of the flâneur as – rather than Walter Benjamin's bygone figure, or contemporary panoptical readings – something more akin to what Rancière calls “missionaries of utopia”. This is the term he uses to refer to certain artists, whose aim is to focus on unaccounted-for populations. Their work is political because it casts light on an anonymous element, thus furthering the scope of those who warrant a voice: what Rancière terms a recasting of the 'distribution of the sensible'.

This article sets out from an analysis of the pioneering work of Susan Buck-Morss to rethink, not only Hegel and Haiti, but broader questions surrounding dialectics and the universal brought to light by the Haitian Revolution. Reading through the lens of C.L.R. James’ The Black Jacobins, I seek to correct a series of ironic silences in her account, re-centering the importance of Toussaint’s successor, Jean-Jacques Dessalines, and underlining the dialectical importance of identitarian struggles in forging the universal. Finally, I offer Frantz Fanon’s reformulation of the Hegelian master-slave dialectic—overlooked in Buck-Morss’ account—as a corrective that allows us to truly rethink progress toward the universal in decolonized dialectical terms.

How might one theorize the limits of one’s knowledge without merely acknowledging that such limits are contingent upon one’s ways of learning-in-the-world? And what if one’s ways of learning—often disciplined into a discipline such as anthropology or philosophy—are prefigured so as to always reflect a type of (academic) reality, a system of knowing with its defined histories, methodologies, and goals? What’s left behind, that is, beyond such disciplinary knowledge? And to what end? Can the unknowable be defined, and if so, how? Can its existence, its ontological possibility, form a constitutive element of the human condition? Relatedly, if the unknowable is recognized as an element of the everyday, of our social and disciplinary practices, how will its existence relate to critical theory and the project(s) of the Left? To wit, will we know more, or better, about the world, our disciplines and ourselves by conceding our intrinsic “failure” to know all? If so, can the unknowable be structured within our theories and methodologies of knowing, or does our perception of the unknowable suggest that purely structural approaches to knowing-in-the-world cannot succeed?
The unknowable, often loosely described as that what is left behind (and yet remains) once we have chartered our lifeworlds, or lifeworlds of others we seek to know, is by no means a new concept. As I show in this essay, the unknowable has resurfaced as an idea in social anthropology and has found renewed salience in continental philosophy. Its application to political theory, on the other hand, holds the promise of resistance to the notion that politics is (ever) an ontology. In an eclectic survey of each of these fields of inquiry, I will endeavor to demonstrate that the unknowable is typically seen as a condition of reality—it’s a thing in that it is thinkable as thing or, for some, as things. My choice of authors and their disciplinary leanings is guided by their theoretical reliance on thing(s) and a certain cross-disciplinary structuralist tradition that regards reality as consisting of definable clusters—including the cluster of the unknowable. Perhaps this should be said right away: to me, a critique of the unknowable makes sense precisely inasmuch as it can reveal the failures of structuralism to account for reality’s ostensible clusters. Reality is messy and so is the unknowable. And, because of this, our disciplines are ultimately unable to deal with the unknowable in a structured, premeditative way. That’s not a bad thing. Instead, this simply shows that our disciplines are ripe for re-imagination and our critical pursuits in need of recalibration towards a much messier understanding of what can and what cannot be known.

Este ensaio analisa um fragmento da parte final da obra inacabada de Thomas Mann, Confissões do impostor Felix Krull, parte na qual o narrador impostor conta a visita que fez ao Museu de História Natural de Lisboa, guiado pelo professor Kuckuck, diretor do Museu. De acordo com alguns desdobramentos estéticos dos temas filosóficos recolhidos para a composição desse romance, este ensaio pretende apontar para o funcionamento das estruturas ontológicas de determinação da natureza, tal como vêm a luz no diálogo de formação que o impostor estabelece com o professor. As artimanhas do impostor, tais como são narradas ao longo de todo o romance, servem de pano de fundo implícito para a compreensão do movimento desenvolvido na visita ao Museu. A elaboração dessa temática procurou respeitar as concepções críticas que envolvem as ideias de história natural e de transitoriedade, a partir de Walter Benjamin, Theodor Adorno e Susan Buck-Morss.

This article discusses the ongoing pertinence to the present of Fredric Jameson's work on postmodernism in the context of recent elaborations of “the contemporary” and “contemporaneity” in art history, theory and criticism. It is argued that, while postmodernism is fraught with contradiction and in any case irretrievable by now as a periodization of the present, it nonetheless remains crucially instructive for a fuller understanding and politicization of contemporaneity. In particular, both the nature of the relationship between culture and capital, as well as the theoretical imperative to totalize remain central to Jameson's problematic in ways that the discourse on the contemporary threatens to undo, in its resistance to historicism, and in its tendency to insist, not merely upon the heterogeneity, but upon the incommensurability of global cultures and space-times.

What I will argue in this paper is that Benjamin’s concept “aesthetics of destruction” has raised itself to a whole new ideology, what I would like to call the “aesthetics of human extinction” in the thought experiment Earth Without People (2004), the book The World Without Us (2005) and the documentaries Life After People (2009-2010) and Aftermath: Population Zero (2008). In these non-fictions, all people suddenly “vanish” from the surface of the earth. They speculate how nature would fully and ubiquitously thrive again, animals would roam our cities, and how all remnants of human civilization will be subject to decay. Eventually, every trace of humans having populated the earth will be erased by forces of the natural world.
In my analysis, I will show in the spirit of Benjamin and Buck-Morss how the above introduced objects are employed to alienate and anaestheticize their audiences. In order to make the argument more persuasive I will use the notion of the Sublime, as coined by Immanuel Kant, Edmund Burke and Jean-Francois Lyotard. I trace the Sublime back to Romanticism, where the Sublime powers of nature were able to overwhelm the individual, and the Sublime’s ineffable as being the visceral force of imagination and creativity. The Sublime in the romantic period was a sight that evoked an awe-inspiring feeling in the spectator. I argue that in the non-fictions I analyze, the images of the overwhelming power of nature are not Sublime, but a posthuman Anti-Sublime: the images are not awe-inspiring and terrifying, but alienating, comforting and entertaining.

The study inquires on the ways content-specific social media pages
can function as alternative public spheres, by examining the
photography-orientated Facebook and YouTube pages entitled
‘old photographs of Thessaloniki’. The study focuses on the online
encountering of absences, notably events of socio-political
importance with a traumatic impact, which were marginalized by
historiography and erased from the city’s material form. In
particular, it looks at the ways these absences are witnessed,
remembered and negotiated online, through their formal and
informal traces. Departing from Benjamin’s and Agamben’s
theorizations of memory, media and witnessing, and Derrida’s
work on specters, the study concludes that the pages form a
highly informed digital archive in constant development that
fosters narratives enhancing cultural toleration and understanding,
while challenging official master frames. A class-orientated
understanding of the city’s ‘ruinification’ and oblivion is, however,
undermined, although it remains in a ‘spectral’ form.

En esa conversación, la pensadora norteamericana fue invitada a revisar su historia como lectora de Walter Benjamin y a actualizar esas discusiones en su producción más reciente y en la discusión con otros nombres del pensamiento estético-político contemporáneo.

Il volume offre una ricognizione storico-teorica sul concetto di trauma, da meccanismo psichico patologico (individuato sul finire dell’Ottocento in ambito clinico) a dinamica caratterizzante della storia contemporanea, della produzione culturale inscritta in quest’ultima e della formazione dei soggetti, ripercorrendo così anche l’evoluzione accademica dei cosiddetti Trauma Studies, nati in seno agli studi culturali statunitensi. Senza tralasciare le principali teorie novecentesche sul rapporto tra visione e metropoli, che videro nello shock percettivo il concetto principe dell’esperienza del vivere moderno, il volume si spinge fino all’analisi di alcune tra le tendenze dominanti dell’estetica mediatica e cinematografica contemporanea. Dai mind game film (in particolare alcune pellicole di Christopher Nolan) ai disaster movies, dal fotogiornalismo post 11 settembre agli user generated contents e ai focus delle rassegne internazionali fotografiche e cinematografiche sugli tsunami di Thailandia e Giappone, questo lavoro evidenzia come l’attrazione per le immagini recrudescenti e l’assottigliamento del confine tra norma e abiezione abbiano prodotto, a cavallo degli anni Duemila, una vera e propria sfera pubblica “patologica”, frutto di una cultura visuale dominata dalla spettacolarizzazione del trauma.

In this article, I try to outline a new strategy for the universalization of history, which emerges from an analysis of the modern Jewish practice of philosophizing. I call it a Marrano strategy, building an analogy between the religious practices of the late-medieval Sephardic Jewry, which was forced to convert to Christianity but kept Judaism “undercover,” and the philosophical intervention of modern Jewish thinkers who spoke the seemingly universal idiom of Western philosophy but, at the same time, impregnated it “secretly” with the motives deriving from their “particular” background. This secret particularist lining did not serve to abolish the universalist perspective, but merely to transform it; for the last heirs of this “Marrano” line, Walter Benjamin and Jacques Derrida, the proper universalism amounts to an after-Babel project of mending the broken whole from within, horizontally, without assuming the abstract position of a general meta-language, but through the multilingual “task of
translation.”

Resumen:
Se indaga en torno a la intoxicación voluntaria, dentro de un programa general encaminado a la experimentación con el propio cuerpo, método que encuentra sus fundamentos en la idea de la medicina romántica donde, según Sloterdijk, los efectos de las dosis en el hombre sano y el enfermo se reflejaban de manera especular. Es aquí donde se origina una ambiciosa semiótica de la medicación farmacológica, no sólo del endomorfinismo de la especulación, sino también de mecanismos endocrinos o quimioéticos.

Il cinema come termometro dell’immaginario, ricettacolo di ossessioni e paure dell’epoca contemporanea: è questo lo snodo centrale del volume di Antonietta Buonauro, una lettura piacevole che si muove in maniera disinvolta tra l’arte, la fotografia e il cinema mainstream. La cornice metodologica del volume è quella degli studi sul trauma, che hanno avuto il merito di intrecciare l’approccio psicoanalitico al trattamento dello shock con lo studio dei fenomeni mediatici collegati ai traumi collettivi, a partire dall’Olocausto e dalla guerra del Vietnam. Questo rigoroso approccio teorico, che fornisce anche un’ampia discussione di testi mai tradotti in Italia, si stempera nell’analisi di film noti al grande pubblico come Memento (2000) e Inception (2010), attraverso la quale Buonauro mostra come la cultura visuale non solo testimonia l’evento traumatico: mediante il bombardamento di immagini e video, e il conseguente innalzamento della soglia dell’ansia collettiva, i media sono il luogo in cui il trauma avviene, il mezzo attraverso il quale migliaia di fruitori vivono un ‘trauma vicario’. Mostrando la genealogia e le filiazioni delle immagini traumatiche che ci invadono, Buonauro offre gli strumenti per una maggiore consapevolezza della funzione affettiva che i media rivestono nell’elaborazione collettiva di eventi traumatici: una tematica che si rivela di fondamentale attualità.

En el presente artículo se defiende la tesis de que la concepción del sueño de Sigmund Freud ejerció una significativa influencia en la idea de interpretación de las producciones culturales de relevantes teóricos críticos de la cultura del siglo XX. La concepción freudiana del sueño como realización alucinatoria de un deseo inconsciente dio la clave para la visión de los productos culturales como poseedores de un contenido utópico profundo, a pesar de su explícito carácter ideológico. En tales términos, esta concepción ha servido de base para una interpretación dialéctica de la cultura en autores como Walter Benjamin, Susan Buck-Morss y Fredric Jameson.

The book 'Socjalistyczny postkolonializm. Rekonsolidacja pamięci' (Socialist Postcolonialism: Memory Reconsolidation) is about the Polish postcolonial tradition of before 1989, which has been blanked out of memory. The year 2000, i.e., the year in which the Polish translation of Ewa Thompson’s book Imperial Knowledge. Russian Literature and Colonialism appeared, is taken as the beginning of Polish postcolonial thought. However, the general thesis of the present book is that widely understood postcolonialism functioned in Poland before 1989. The real beginning of thinking in postcolonial terms started with the World Congress of Intellectuals in Defense of Peace, held in Wrocław in 1948. The purpose of the book is to reconstruct the rubbed out history of socialist postcolonialism and to determine the reasons why this cultural phenomenon was remembered/forgotten. This first task is achieved by analyzing political, press, literary, scientific and artistic discourses referring to the so-called Third World and its relations with the semi-peripheral Second World, i.e., Poland; while the second task is treated within an original conceptual framework for writing about remembering/forgetting, using the category of re/consolidation drawn from neuroscience and psychology. The work uses the terms “socialist postcolonialism” and “postcolonialism of the Second World” alternately and refers to postcolonial studies, although conceptually it is rooted in memory studies which are also seeing intense development in Poland.

O presente trabalho propõe discutir a pobreza de experiência durante o isolamento social provocado pelo Covid, não a partir da categoria da pausa, mas de seu contrário, da aceleração, do excesso de estímulos, do produtivismo e do automatismo. O objetivo é discutir de que forma as subjetividades vêm sendo afetadas e como o capitalismo tem se aproveitado da pandemia para intensificar seu projeto de precarização do trabalho, alienação social e imobilização política.

La grande rimozione In principio, un movimento, due autori e alcuni testi. Il movimento: New York, anni Venti del Novecento, Harlem Renaissance. Gli autori, prima di tutto C.L.R. James. I suoi testi: Toussaint Louverture (1934), opera teatrale andata in scena a Lon-dra nel 1936, che ebbe nel ruolo del leader nero il noto attore, cantante e militante comunista della causa nera negli Stati Uniti Paul Robeson, ma anche A History of Negro Revolt (1938) e soprattutto The Black Jacobins (1938). Oltre a C.L.R. James, un secondo nome, Aimé Césaire, meno associato alla nostra questione, ma altrettanto potente in questo lavoro di scavo, e i suoi testi: Cahiers d'un retour au pays natal (1939), Poésie et connaissance (1944) e infine Toussaint Louverture: La Révolution fran-çaise et le problème coloniale (1960). Ma il principio è tale soltanto perché divenuto sempre di più discorso: fino alla grande riscoperta artistica degli scrittori e pittori neri protagonisti del Rinascimento di Harlem, ma soprattutto fino alla pubblica-zione di questi scritti, la Rivoluzione antischiavista di Haiti è stata oggetto di una delle più grandi rimozioni (coloniali) nella storia della cultura moderna occiden-tale. Rimozione, dunque; compare così il nostro significante, la parola chiave per interpellare questa lunga assenza. Nulla di meglio che la traccia aperta da Susan Buck-Morss nel suo formidabile Hegel, Haiti, and Universal History (2009) per sno-dare il nostro argomento. Ecco la sua enunciazione principale: pur avendo costru-ito la sua "filosofia della storia" sull'insurrezione antischiavista dei neri in Haiti, Hegel ha rimosso dalle sue opere (soprattutto giovanili) ogni riferimento esplicito alla Rivoluzione guidata da Toussaint Louverture. Snodiamo ulteriormente il suo ragionamento: l'asse portante della dialettica servo/signore, ovvero la lotta mor-tale dello schiavo contro l'oppressione-negazione della propria condizione umana in quanto motore dell'emancipazione, della libertà e del riconoscimento reciproco tipicamente moderni, è stato enunciato da Hegel sulla traccia di quanto egli leg-geva-sapeva sulla rivolta anticoloniale in Haiti. E tuttavia, per i motivi ben messi in evidenza dal lavoro di Buck-Morss, Hegel preferì sfondare il suo discorso pro-ponendolo invece non solo come un'astrazione filosofica, ma soprattutto come un presupposto politico del tutto in sintonia con l'immaginazione culturale europea sulla missione-condizione storica della borghesia dopo la Rivoluzione francese. The material that is available for consultation in the form of text or image belongs to the list of artifacts allowed by the power. They are hauntingly arbitrary and vulnerable to attacks. The obliteration of the archives reaches the human register, but also all the contradictions that threaten the maintenance of power and the discredit of the official belief, as Susan Buck-Morss states, “what survives in the archives does so by chance. Disappearance is the rule”. Exploding the continuum, says Benjamin, proposes a militant violence in “terrorist metaphors” that will disturb the dominant historical institution, allowing a rescue of the distant memory conventions provided by the power of the national guardians. “Everything flambés in the heroic hands of the poet” (2005, p. 237), Oswald writes in his play The Dead Woman when the Poet starts the fire. The present and burned dead of the País da Anestesia (Land of Anesthesia) belong to the hall of history. Therefore, the doubtful fear of how to testify the truth with transitory artifacts listed by Susan BuckMorss finds an opening to start a conversation with the text by Oswald de Andrade, specially, in this case, A morta (The Dead Woman): where the anthropophagic method pervades the past, giving new meaning to its existence. The Poet uses gunpowder, fire and bonfire, blows up the regulated and instituted tradition in the country of grammar and in the cemeteries that are masked by an apparent abandonment.

Quando a teoria crítica desenvolvida pela Escola de Frankfurt analisa a mudança da práxis artística em torno das transformações sociais e econômicas, podem-se observar algumas divergências de pensamentos entre Benjamin e Adorno Eles verificam a passagem da função ritualística para a função política da arte através das novas técnicas de reprodução, por caminhos diferentes. A teoria materialista da arte em Walter Benjamin não apresenta uma posição fiel aos princípios do marxismo. Sua análise do conceito estético em torno das transformações sociais e econômicas é feita através de uma influência mística judaica. Quando a obra de arte se torna mercadoria, a partir do momento que não pertence mais a aristocracia e a esfera religiosa, ocorre uma transformação e surge uma nova concepção de arte quando a aura é afetada. Termo judaico e conceito fundamental no pensamento de Benjamin, a aura, designa o caráter ritual e o poder de testemunho histórico, contido naquela materialidade única da obra. Com as novas tecnologias a obra de arte não pertence mais à concepção que a considerava uma obra de arte tradicional. O que a tornava um objeto de culto e para poucos, o que garantia seu “status” de objeto raro, agora se transforma em produto. Ao trazer o método marxista de crítica ao modo de produção capitalista para o campo artístico, Benjamin discorda dos princípios intelectuais de Adorno, o principal crítico à sua teoria materialista da arte. Para Adorno, Benjamin não justifica a dicotomia que existe entre a arte tradicional e arte tecnológica e comete um engano ao fazer a distinção através do aspecto aurático da obra, pois, ele não relaciona corretamente as relações de produção com a força produtiva. Através da influência mística judaica, a partir de uma teologia negativa da arte, Benjamin encara a liquidação do conceito tradicional de arte de forma positiva. A liquidação do conceito tradicional conduz o processo produtivo coletivizado a transcender a divisão do trabalho, entre o artista e o técnico, o trabalhador intelectual e o manual. O termo teologia negativa é empregado para descrever a situação da “art pour l’art” na sociedade burguesa. Este argumento pode reforçar para Adorno, uma atitude reacionária e burguesa, visto que, a arte se encontraria numa esfera inatingível, ao mesmo tempo em que nega a unidade e a violência das forças produtivas. Quando Adorno baseava sua filosofia marxista na experiência estética, seu objetivo não era politizar a filosofia, mas reconstituir a relação dialética entre sujeito e objeto. O antagonismo no conceito de técnica demonstra este duplo caráter artístico, a função técnica submetida à força produtiva, conforme suas relações sociais apresentadas e seu caráter lírico de criação. O lírico se eleva ao nível universal, todo sentimento lírico imprimido na obra tem um fator social, esta universalidade do conteúdo lírico é social. O ponto de partida, mediante sua análise sobre a aura do objeto artístico, permite entender a dessacralização do mito na herança cultural. Benjamin desmistifica e situa a arte nas relações da produção, enquanto Adorno encontra um campo hermético para uma autonomia artística.

RESUMEN. En este artículo sostendré la tesis de que la concepción de la flânerie decimonónica a través de sus principales autores —Edgar Allan Poe, Honoré de Balzac, Charles Baudelaire y la posterior recepción de este fenómeno en el primer tercio del siglo XX por Walter Benjamin— se llevó a cabo desde una mirada asimétrica patriarcal. Para llevar a cabo este análisis me apoyaré principalmente en la rigurosa y documentada lectura de José María González sobre Walter Benjamin, autor al que ha dedicado una gran parte de su investigación académica y que ha culminado con el libro Walter Benjamin: de la diosa Niké al Ángel de la Historia, y en el aparato conceptual de autoras como Susan Sontag, Susan Buck-Morss y Judith Walkowitz. Se recurrirá también a distintos ejemplos de flânerie femenina, principalmente el video-denuncia del acoso callejero de la asociación Hollaback, el experimento sociológico «Vicky», de la ONG Mujeres en Zona de Conflicto, y los paseos travestidos de la escritora George Sand en el París decimonónico.

Gavin Murphy continues his series of essays (The Moonlight of Fantasy: The Russian Revolution Now), this time looking at how the Russian avant-garde in the Revolutionary period has been framed repeatedly as matter of contemporary relevance. It focuses on tensions between competing critical visions, particularly those of Boris Groys and Susan Buck-Morss as they grapple over its legacy after the fall of communism and the collapse of a Cold War dynamic. What the age calls for is not (as we are so often told) more faith, or stronger leadership, or more scientific organization. Rather it is the opposite-less Messianic ardour, more enlightened scepticism, more toleration of idiosyncrasies, more frequent ad hoc measures to achieve aims in a foreseeable future, more room for the attainment of their personal ends by individuals and by minorities whose tastes and beliefs find (whether rightly or wrongly must not matter) little response among the majority.

The aim of this paper is to connect Merleau-Ponty's account of dreams and time with cityscapes, Japanese anime and nightmares. First, I will briefly introduce Merleau-Ponty, then I will present three anime dealing with dreams, cities, and time. In conclusion, I will connect these using Susan Buck-Morss' interpretation of Walter Benjamin's texts of the Arcades Project.
