Unit: Basketball
Dribbling is an essential skill to develop for basketball. It will take control, focus, and
repetition to develop and refine this skill.

1. Ability to dribble with one hand


2. Use proper technique while dribbling: use of fingertips rather than palms, looking up,
and keeping bounces at waist height.
3. Ability to dribble while moving
Standard #1: The student demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement
patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities building from pre-k to
kindergarten.
Standard #2: The student demonstrates understanding of movement concepts, principles
strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of physical
activities.

Scaffolding, have the students develop the skill of dribbling in a stationary position
progressively transferring to have students dribble while moving during classes early in
the week. Promote proper technique and provide encouragement to students during
activity. As students progress throughout the week add games and activities that will
allow students to sharpen skills in an active setting hopefully the students skill will
become muscle memory.

for one student. All the
students will stay on one
side of the court.
(Boundaries being half
court and the out of

will maintain a dribble
while one student (wears a
penny) tries to poke the
ball away from the rest of
the students without
fouling. If the student gets
their ball poked away they
must gather their ball and
practice dribbling on the
opposite side of the court
until the game is over. Last
person still dribbling is the
dribble survivor.
Sit at center court quietly.
Line up quietly when
directed. Walk to the next
specialty class.
