5.3 Sequence Of Work

In general, the sequence of works will be carried out in accordance to main
civil work schedule and / or Architectural work schedule.

5.4 Installation Procedure

5.4.1 Surface Conduit Installation

a) Prior to laying of conduits, check and determine the conduit routing

first. Consider the mounting height as well as the size of conduits as
per construction drawings.

b) Mark on the soffit of the slab or wall surface, the conduit routing and
ensure there is no obstruction. If there is any obstruction, further co-
ordination will be done.

c) Once the route has been confirmed, install the saddle onto the wall or
soffit along the marked conduit route with an interval of 1200mm.

d) Install conduits along the marked route and secure it to saddles.

Conduits shall be bent or cut on site to suit local conditions. Cut edge
shall be trim off by using reamer to avoid any damages on the cables
or wiring.

e) For jointing of one conduit to another (in straight line), bushes shall be
provided.

f) All free ends of conduits shall be fitted with appropriated bushes /

plugs / conduit circular boxes.

g) Conduits to all motors, withdraw able or removable items of

equipment, and all items of equipment where vibration may reasonably
be expected, shall be of flexible type.

h) Conduit circular box cover will be installed at the end stage after
drawing of wires.

5.4.2 Slab Concealed Conduit Installation

a) Prior to laying of conduits, check and determine the conduit routing

location as per construction drawings.

b) Mark conduit routing, position of lighting & power points, conduit

circular boxes, and etc. on the formwork.

c) Once the first layer of reinforcement bars is laid, conduits are then laid
onto the slab re-bars and secured tightly with steel wires.

d) Conduit circular boxes are to be secured tightly onto the formwork

with steel wires and nails. At the same time, the boxes shall be first
stuffed with paper / styrofoam to prevent seepage of slurry into the
boxes.

e) For jointing of one conduit to another, bushes shall be provided. At the

joint section shall be sealed with masking tape to prevent ingress of
slurry into the conduit.

f) All free ends of conduits shall be fitted with appropriated bushes /

plugs / conduit circular boxes.

6.0 INSPECTION AND TESTING

Visual Inspection shall be carried out before every casting of the floor slab,
column or plastering of brick wall, especially for conceal conduit installation:

6.1 Visual Inspection Procedure

6.1.1 Pre-installation

a) Check the conduit routing layout according to shop drawings.

b) Check correctness of brand, model and type of conduits and

conduit circular boxes.

6.1.2 During Installation
