1.0 PURPOSE
This method statement outlines the procedure for the safe and efficient fixing of switch boxes
and sockets. The objective is to ensure that the installation is carried out in compliance with
relevant safety regulations and manufacturer guidelines, minimizing the risk of accidents or
damage to property.

2.0 SCOPE
This method statement applies to the fixing of switch boxes and sockets. It covers the process
from preparing the installation area to connecting the electrical circuits

4.0 EQUIPMENT/ MATERIALS:


 Switch boxes and sockets
 Mounting brackets or hardware
 Wiring and conduit
 Wire connectors
 Screwdrivers, pliers, and other hand tools
 Voltage tester or Multi meter
 Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and safety
shoes

 The project manager will be responsible for overseeing the installation process and
ensuring compliance with safety standards.
 The electrician or qualified personnel will be responsible for the actual installation,
including wiring and connection of light fixtures.

6.0 PRECAUTIONS AND SAFETY MEASURES:


 Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) throughout the fixing work.
 Ensure that all electrical power is switched off before beginning any work.
 Handle electrical components with care, avoiding contact with bare skin and ensuring
proper insulation.
 Follow local electrical codes and regulations to ensure compliance and safety.

7.0 PROCEDURE:

Step 1: Pre-Fixing Preparation

 Review the electrical plans and determine the locations for switch boxes and sockets.
 Ensure that power to the installation area is turned off at the main electrical panel.
 Inspect the installation area for any potential hazards or obstructions, and address
them accordingly.
 Gather all necessary materials and equipment required for the fixing work.

Step 2: Mounting and Wiring

 Select the appropriate location for each switch box or socket as per the electrical
plans.
 Install mounting brackets or hardware securely, following manufacturer instructions
and ensuring proper alignment.
 Run the electrical wiring and conduit from the power source to each switch box or
socket, adhering to local electrical codes.
 Connect the wiring to the respective terminals within the switch box or socket,
ensuring proper labeling and organization.
 Verify the electrical connections with a voltage tester or multimeter to ensure there
is no current flow.

Step 3: Fixing and Connection

 Fix the switch boxes and sockets onto the previously installed mounting brackets or
hardware, ensuring they are level and securely fastened.

 Connect and terminate the electrical circuits to the appropriate terminals within the
switch boxes or sockets, adhering to local electrical codes and regulations.
 Ensure that each circuit is correctly identified and labeled for easy reference.
 Verify the proper functioning of each switch and socket by conducting tests and
inspections, such as checking for proper operation and continuity.

Step 4: Testing and Commissioning

 Restore power to the installation area by turning on the electrical circuit at the main
panel.
 Test each switch and socket by activating them and verifying the operation of the
connected electrical devices.
 Inspect for any abnormalities, such as loose connections, overheating, or
malfunctioning switches or sockets, and address any issues promptly.
 Conduct a final inspection to ensure all switch boxes and sockets are fixed correctly
and meet the required standards.
