Background
Basic Plumbing and Sanitation Training useful for the plumbers working in different
sectors of NEA. The plumbers should have the basic knowledge of Plumbing and
Sanitation, Bathroom structure, function of various parts and handling the various
types of problems corresponding to the plumbing. So the course is designed to
provide some basic knowledge of Introduction / Briefing to the plumbing and
sanitation, occupational safety, the common problems and their troubleshooting
play vital role for the plumbers. Similarly, the rainwater harvesting are the primary
things they should know about.

Initiation
From the very beginning of Nepal Electricity Authority Training Center, plumbing and
sanitation training was in operation for plumbers and mechanics annually. It is hoped that
the trainees from the same status and qualification may be benefited from the
discrimination. The technicians are trained for the common problems they have to deal
with and resolve it. Likewise, they are trained for the latest technology and the
maintenance procedure developed in the later years.

Course Design
The course is designed keeping in mind that the minor and frequently occurring problems
can be resolved in the spot. For this; basic knowledge of plumbing and their working is
most. Also, care is taken in the plumbing's parts that usually create problems and
plumbers on their way using the available tools in the plumbing can handle that.

Training Performance
The trainees from the Nepal Electricity Authority, Generation, were present in the
training. Out of 12 allocated seats, only eleven trainees participated in the training.
The training was conducted in two modes i.e. theory and practical. Theory classes were
divided in to two categories like lecture delivery and interaction. Engineers from N.E.A.
conducted the theory classes and the instructors from Institute of Engineering, Thapathali
Campus, conducted practical classes. Attention was given for the in depth practice of the
plumbing work. At the end, they were assigned for the estimating, installation of a
washbasin, a shower set and a commode for the two groups there in. The design was
provided and they were directed to perform the project works.
In the closing and certificate distribution program, Mr. Tharur Raj Pandey, Director,
N.E.A. Training Center thanked all the participants taking attended in the newly started
training and wished all for their better future.

Training Organization
As a coordinator, Mr. Sitaram Palanchoke was assigned and Mr. Bhai Ram Khadka was
assigned as an assistant coordinator. The credit is distributed to the whole staffs of NEA
Training Center for the successful completion of the training. Each assigned members
perform the regular duties. As a system, there remain many supporting hands to succeed
the particular job. The matter is, however, the direct or indirect involvement of the staffs.
The direction and suggestions from Director is the most appreciative. The other
responsible units are thankful for their cordial support and inspiration.

Conclusion
The duration of the training package was 12 days. The instructors of this training were
from NEA Training Center. Some of the instructors were from Institute of Engineering,
Thapathali Campus. During the training, the trainees were very much satisfied with
instructors as well as the training management for organizing this training. The trainees
were very much interested during the training period mostly in skillful trainings.

At the end of the training, the trainees have suggested to have some improvements and
the continuation of the useful training as stated:
 The number of production based skillful trainings should be increased.
 The trainings should be conducted in different workshop of outside NEA.
 The canteen management is not functioning properly and it should be made more
improved and the neat and clean environment is essential.
As a co-ordinator, I was inspired with the suggestions by the trainees.
