Modeling and Implementation of a Simpower System Using Three Phase Components

OBJECTIVE:-

•To study the behavior and characteristics of Simpower system.

•Implement the components and know their results.

THEORY:- (Three phase source)

The Three-Phase Source block implements a balanced three-phase voltage source with an
internal R-L impedance. The three voltage sources are connected in Y with a neutral connection
that can be internally grounded or made accessible. You can specify the source internal
resistance and inductance either directly by entering R and L values or indirectly by specifying
the source inductive short-circuit level and X/R ratio.

(Three phase series RLC Branch)

The Three-Phase Series RLC Branch block implements three balanced branches consisting each
of a resistor, an inductor, or a capacitor or a series combination of these. Use the Branch type
parameter to select elements you want to include in each branch.

Three phase Transformer (Two Windings)

This block implements a three-phase transformer using three single-phase transformers. For a
detailed description of the electrical model of a single-phase transformer, see the Linear
Transformer block.

When activated, the saturation characteristic is the same as the one described for the Saturable
Transformer block. If the fluxes are not specified, the initial values are automatically adjusted so
that the simulation starts in steady state.

Three phase V-I Measurement

The Three-Phase V-I Measurement block is used to measure instantaneous three-phase voltages
and currents in a circuit. When connected in series with three-phase elements, it returns the three
phase-to-ground or phase-to-phase peak voltages and currents.

The block can output the voltages and currents in per unit (pu) values or in volts and amperes.

If you choose to measure phase-to-ground voltages in per unit, the block converts the measured
voltages based on peak value of nominal phase-to-ground voltage
Three phase Series RLC load

The Three-Phase Series RLC Load block implements a three-phase balanced load as a series
combination of RLC elements. At the specified frequency, the load exhibits a constant
impedance. The active and reactive powers absorbed by the load are proportional to the square of
the applied voltage.
