“You don’t have to be positive all the time. It’s perfectly okay to feel sad, angry, annoyed,
frustrated, scared and anxious. Having feelings doesn’t make you a negative person. It makes you
human.” That was a quote by Lori Deschene which clearly stated the fact that we need raise our
awareness on mental health. Good Morning Teachers and Students I am here to raise awareness about
Mental Health Issue.
Mental Health is an important part of overall health and well being. Mental Health includes our
emotional, psychological, and social well- being. Mental Health is the condition whereby an individual
feels strong in mind. It affects how we think, feel and act in our daily lives. I've been through a lot of
seatbacks last year, I cried my heart out multiple times in private. I was really depressed; I felt weak and
tired. I almost gave up but I’m glad that I didn't. It hits you all of sudden, there is this feeling, a very
uncomfortable feeling in your mind, in the pit of your stomach. You want to leave and go somewhere
that is quiet and dark. You are being consumed. Consumed by your own thoughts, you are afraid it's
wrecking you from the inside out admitting about your mental health it's not easy to do. And as I grew
up I realized that I am not alone in this battle, no matter what the illness is, you are not alone, no one is
ever alone, no matter how lonely it seems.
These are 3 things that I’ve learned throughout my mental health journey. Mental Health is not
a journey but a process. It’s about how you drive, not where you’re going. It takes constant effort to
maintain healthy mental issues. Some days, I feel like myself, other days I feel burned out. But I always
try to take days for my self or do little things that make me feel better. Second, it’s okay to ask for help,
we all know asking for help can be hard sometimes but asking for help is actually a sign of strength.
We’re not meant to go it alone. We need to support each other, and asking for help is evidence that
you’re ready to fight for yourself. Third, it’s okay to say no it is your life. Make choices that are going to
be best for you and your well-being. If that means saying no, then say it with conviction. It allows us to
value ourselves more. It also helps us prioritize ourselves, and can even lead us to new opportunities
that wouldn't have been achievable by saying yes. It also allows us to set boundaries. You are your own
biggest advocate. You are the only one who can really identify your priorities in life, you are the person
who is going to be most affected by the decisions you make. It is very important to our wellness to say it,
mean it, and practice it. It is okay to say no, your world will not fall apart because of it.
Mental health Awareness helps educate the public at large. It teaches them that it is okay to
share experiences, vulnerabilities, and shared concerns about mental health issues knowing you are not
alone when experiencing a mental illness it’s encouraging and leads to strength and commitment in
getting treatment for relief of symptoms. Millions of people in the world are dealing with symptoms of a
mental illness and having support is crucial in recovery. No longer are people hiding in the shadows,
ashamed to speak out and say that they are overly anxious, depressed, or have phobias. People are not
considered crazy, mental, or losing their minds when they break the stigma and speak out on mental
health. If you struggle with a mental health disorder, it is important to recognize that mental health
awareness is important. No need for shame and silence should happen when you need encouragement
and support. Talk to your family and friends and share that you have some mental health concerns.
Mental Health Awareness provides education about the reality of living with a mental health condition
– it can make life more difficult, it doesn’t have to stop someone from having a fulfilling life. When
people are better educated on these conditions, they can better support and help someone dealing with
a mental health issue, it helps people recognize the ways mental illness impacts their lives, educates
people about available services, and highlights ways to advocate. You don’t have to control your
thoughts. You just have to stop letting them control you. It takes time to heal, as long as you want then
you can do it it’s not easy as we thought it would be but small progress is still a progress and always
remember your mental health matters.
