Satellite television centres in Nigeria have grown with the popularity of foreign football, especially international competitions. This study identifies the social significance, especially the uses and abuses of satellite television centres in Makurdi town. Also, the study identifies the strategy that is effective in curbing the abuses of satellite television viewing centres in Makurdi town. Using a survey of two hundred and twenty (220) respondents who patronise satellite television viewing centres in Makurdi, the study finds among other things that: satellite television viewing centres are used to advance sporting interests, however they are abused when criminals use these centres as meeting places and hideouts. Abuse of drugs has posed a threat to Nepali society in connection to the transmission of various diseases and rise of various unsocial and anti-social behaviors. In Nepalese context the approach to dealing with drugs mainly involves a realization of the role played by the interaction between personality and social setting. This study examined different aspects regarding the drug use behaviors and drug users’ relationship with society in Kathmandu valley. Based on primary field data, the key objective of this paper is to explore the affects of drug use on drug users, their drug use behaviors and the relationship of drug users with their society. The menace of drug abuse has been compounded by changing social structure, lack of economic growth, mistrust, social and political instability, rising unemployment, cultural-social pressures, confusions, stress etc. This study finding reveals that  drugs use has led not only to the loss of individuality, state and society, but has also led to criminal activities, social unrest, isolation, abnormal behaviors, family disruption, wastage of productivity, money, and other mental and physical health problems. As social environment plays a significant role in determining the likelihood that an individual will use drugs or will develop a drug use disorder, proximal social factors (factors that are directly present at the time of drug exposure) wield strong influence on both drug-seeking and drug-taking behavior. Awareness creation, family empowerment, job creations and strong legal mechanisms are necessary to control drugs abuse. Social interventions may be also used to reduce drug use and the ensuing harm.

"For 18 years, a war has been waged on Uganda's children. Girls have been kidnapped, raped and forcibly married to rebel soldiers. Boys as young as eight years of age have been kidnapped to fight as child soldiers. These children have been forced to attack and kill members of their own families or be killed themselves. The article investigates the oppression of people as well as its resistance in Exod 1–15 and Southern Africa, from an intersectional perspective. The Zimbabwean migrant women embody the intersectional struggles of the working-class people (class), women (gender) and immigrants (internationality) in Southern Africa. This scenario might have been the case in the world of the biblical texts. First, the study outlines the lived experiences of the Zimbabwean migrant women in South Africa in order to highlight the multi-layered and intersectional character of and the resistance of their oppression. Second, the essay probes the resistance of oppression in the Exodus narrative, with a specific interest in women. Third and lastly, the study shows how the intersectionality theory assists us in drawing a broader and relative depiction of the oppression of women in Exod 1–15 and in Southern Africa as well as the need to resist such oppression.

The reinforcement of male dominance and heterosexuality are often the cause of sexual harassment of female students at the institutions of higher learning across Africa. Drawing from socio-cultural and social exchange theories, female students find themselves in awkward positions to resist condom –use because economically they are dependent on their male partners. This research paper sought to explore the manner in which quid pro quo plays a role in effecting sexual advances between lecturers and female students. Having employed various peer-reviewed articles, books, dissertations and internet journals on sexual harassment as a methodology, the other aim of this paper was to highlight the detrimental effects of sexual harassment on the educational and psychological aspects of females attending tertiary institutions. The present literature review aims to examine a range of reciprocal effects between alcohol abuse and family relations: as individuals and as a system. The study targets the mutual relationship between alcohol abuse and the family. Alcohol abuse is being examined to affect the personalities of family members and the functioning and interactions of the family as a system. The family in turn is examined in terms of contributing to the onset, alleviation or persistence of alcohol abuse. Accordingly, recovery from alcohol abuse would necessitate the involvement of family members besides the main subject of abuse. An ethnographic study would be used to examine the direct and indirect mutual effect families and alcohol abuse have on one another.

Senior high schools students have faced a lot of sexual abuse due to unnoticed factors. This study examined the factors that has promoted sexual abused of students in public senior high schools in Ghana. The research was conducted in four (4) different public senior high schools in the Mfantsiman Municipality as one case study. Simple size of 403 students and 20 teachers as participants were employed for the study, simple random sampling and purposive sampling techniques were used to select the respondents. A structured questionnaire was used to solicit data from the respondents. The data were presented in the form of percentages and frequency tables to facilitate clearer and easier interpretation of results for the presentation of findings. The factors that have promoted the sexual abuse of students includes: age, gender, care arrangement / parental absence, parental substance abuse, parental level of education, school and schooling environment, socio-demographic risk and poor parent-child relationship. It is recommended that Programmes aimed at alleviating household poverty in the districts should be extended to cover many more households. Furthermore, the Ghana Education Service should be strengthening Institutions at District Level, in other words, Parents, community opinion leaders and institutions such as Police, District Assembly, Health workers, Teachers etc. identified as first point of contact when a student is sexually abused should be trained on how to identify and handle such forms of abuse cases.

This study examined emotional intelligence and organizational constraints as predictors of counterproductive work behavior (CWB) among teachers in Ogun state. Cross sectional survey research design was adopted and a total of 300 participants were sampled, using purposive sampling technique. A structured questionnaire consisting of standardized psychological scales were used to collect data; two hypotheses were tested using hierarchical multiple regressions analysis. Findings revealed that there is significant positive relationship between organizational constraints and abuse (r = .48, p<.01. Inverse relationship between emotional intelligence and abuse (r =-.38, p<.01), positive relationship between organizational constraints and production deviance (r = .46, p<.01). Inverse relationship between emotional intelligence and production deviance (r =-.37, p<.01), organizational constraints and positive relationship with sabotage (r = .41, p<.01). Emotional intelligence had inverse relationship with sabotage (r =-.36, p<.01) organizational constraints had positive relationship with theft (r = .45, p<.01). Negative relationship between emotional intelligence and theft (r =-.40, p<.01) organizational constraints had positive relationship with withdrawal (r = .44, p<.01) and Emotional intelligence had inverse relationship with withdrawal (r =-.32, p<.01). Organizational constraints and emotional intelligence jointly predicted CWB (R 2 = 0.36, F (2,297) = 82.83, p<.05). The study concluded that organizational constraint and emotional intelligence predicted counterproductive work behaviour among teachers. It is recommended that professional industrial/personnel psychologist should be engaged to design an emotional regulation session where teachers are trained in order to express positive emotions to school management, students, as well as colleagues which invariably will not trigger negative behaviour such as engagement of counterproductive work behaviour.

The present article aims to shed light on the concept of abusive supervision which is a growing organizational issue across the globe. Therein, the authors have attempted to underline some of the important scholarly findings and what they are suggesting particularly with regard to the effects of abusive supervision towards voluntary efforts for organizational betterment. The article elaborates on the growing concern of impolite, rude and hostile behaviours of supervising authorities towards their subordinates and how they could result critically for organizations aspiring to enhance citizenship behaviours. In parallel, the article also expounds on HRM as a strategic concept whilst unleashing on elements relating to technological primacy. The article aims to serve as a guideline for individuals enthusiastic to learn about the concept of abusive supervision and its consequences on individual citizenship behaviours towards the business. The paper concludes with implications for businesses in general and for HR practitioners in particular for better scholarly understanding of the discussed relationship.

The Albanian Constitution guarantees equality before the law and the principle of non-discrimination to all citizens. Report 2021 of the Human Dignity Observatory of the Knowmad institut in collaboration with FESPAD, REDUC and LGBT-MX Social justice, human dignity and sustainability are perceived as fundamental values - Freedom, Equality and Fraternity - that underlie the Charter of the United Nations. The visibility of human rights violations contributes to the strengthening of democracy and the defense of the rule of law. The political and social impact as a tool we are developing for human rights defenders and researchers.

It is often said that human rights are the rights that people possess simply in virtue of being human – that is, in virtue of their intrinsic, dignity-defining common humanity. Yet, on closer inspection the human rights landscape doesn't look so even. Once we bring perpetrators of human rights abuse and their victims into the picture, attributions of humanity to persons become unstable. In this article, I trace the ways in which rights discourse ascribes variable humanity to certain categories of people. I set the stage for my discussion of the human in relation to human rights by examining John Locke's account of the justification for punishment. For Locke, in committing a crime one abrogates one's humanity and forfeits one's rights. Likewise, I argue, human rights discourse takes a scalar view of humanity. I consider victims of genocide who are dehumanized as helpless and passive, victims of state persecution who are super-humanized as righteously agentic, and perpetrators of genocide who are dehumanized as out-of-control beasts. In each case I use relevant testimony to argue that the scalar view of humanity is factually incorrect and morally deplorable. For genocide victims, I discuss testimony that Selma Leydesdorff gathered from women who survived the Srebrenica massacre. For a victim of persecution, I discuss Liao Yiwu's memoire of his detention and imprisonment in China because of his artwork protesting the Tiananmen Square massacre. For perpetrators of genocide, I discuss testimony Jean Hatzfeld gathered from Hutu men who systematically murdered Tutsis in the Rwandan genocide. Finally, I apply my critique of dehumanized and super-humanized victims and dehumanized perpetrators to the problem of transnational trafficking in persons and argue that the view I advocate necessitates reforming immigration policy with respect to persons trafficked into forced labor.

Student sexual abuse is a reality in our senior high schools and the nature of it is on the rise. To find how grievous sexual abuse in senior high schools is, the study examined the nature of sexual abuse in public senior high schools. The research was conducted in four (4) different public senior high schools in the Mfantsiman Municipality in the Central Region of Ghana as one case study. Simple size of 403 students and 20 teachers as participants were employed for the study, simple random sampling and purposive sampling techniques were used to select the respondents. Structured questionnaires were used to solicit data from the respondents. The data were presented in the form of percentages and frequency tables to facilitate clearer and easier interpretation of results for the presentation of findings. The varying nature of sexual abuse from the respondents for the study indicated that penetrative form of sex may include unwanted oral sex, anal or vaginal intercourse were admitted by the students and teachers as well as non-contact sexual abuse which may include, sexual harassment, unwanted sexual phone calls, unwanted sexual messages, unwanted sexual jokes and frequent request for sexual favours are common in public senior high schools in Ghana. Perhaps, today, our senior high schools present a prime target for perpetrators of sexual abuse because most schools have few, if any protective barriers in place. Strategies like continued examination of counselling services in public senior high schools to give advice on sexual maturation and concerns such as assault, sexual harassment and teenage pregnancy should be provided to female students. Necessary provisions should be made for female students with special needs so that they can care for themselves and become productive resources for the society.

In this work we present two types of emotional message, negative (sadness) versus mixed (joy and sadness), with the aim of studying their differential effect on attitude change and the probability estimated by participants of repeating the behavior of occasional excessive drinking in the near future. The results show that for the group of participants with moderate experience in this behavior the negative message, compared to the mixed one, is associated with higher probability of repeating the risk behavior and a less negative attitude toward it. These results suggest that mixed emotional messages (e.g. joy and sadness messages) could be more effective in campaigns for the prevention of this risk behavior.

Disability hate crimes are a global problem. They are often violent and hyper-aggressive, with life-changing effects on victims, and they send consistent messages of intolerance and bigotry. This ground-breaking book shows that disability hate crimes do exist, that they have unique characteristics which distinguish them from other hate crimes, and that more effective policies and practices can and must be developed to respond and prevent them.
