L’oeuvre d’Aragon, dans sa pluralité de formes, met en jeu des champs du savoir très divers : la littérature et son histoire ; l’histoire des formes, de l’art et de la musique ; celle des langues ; le cinéma ; les sciences politiques… Elle s’adresse tout aussi bien au lecteur de poèmes qu’à celui de romans. Elle s’est adressée aussi au militant, au partisan, au résistant ; les textes politiques ou journalistiques intéressent aujourd’hui non seulement l’histoire de la littérature, mais aussi tout lecteur qui cherche à comprendre les enjeux politiques, les luttes et les violences du XXe siècle.

Ce dictionnaire a l’ambition d’aider ceux qui souhaitent appréhender l’oeuvre d’Aragon dans sa complexité et sa richesse et en approfondir certains aspects méconnus, grâce à un état du savoir qui a mobilisé 62 contributeurs sous la direction de Nathalie Piégay et Josette Pintueles, avec la collaboration de Fernand Salzmann.

La struttura delle comunicazioni, che già Marx prese in esame, è ormai ad un livello altissimo di integrazione mondiale: lo sviluppo dei traffici e delle reti informatiche, la conservazione dei dati in memorie sempre più diffuse nella società, l'elaborazione interattiva di questi dati, in tempo reale o differito, quindi il raggiungimento di una indifferenza spaziale e temporale nella comunicazione fra uomini, tutto ciò fa parte della maturazione di quel cervello collettivo che la società di domani saprà utilizzare al meglio per un nuovo e inimmaginabile balzo; e il risultato sarà così potente da potersi paragonare a quello raggiunto dall'umanità con il passaggio dalla raccolta in natura alla produzione cosciente di cibo e manufatti.

Si le XVIIIe siècle passe pour une oasis colorée, sa littérature reflète peu cette polychromie, contrairement à celle du XIXe siècle. Ce décalage entre imaginaire littéraire et culture matérielle est le point de départ de cet ouvrage qui pose les premiers jalons pour l’étude des couleurs de la littérature.

Im Supplément au voyage de Bougainville setzt sich Diderot am Beispiel Tahitis mit Fragen der Macht, der Sexualität und der Kolonialherrschaft auseinander. Der Text gilt als Paradebeispiel für die exotistische Verklärung eines fremden Naturvolkes als Kontrastbild zur Verkommenheit abendländischer Zivilisation. Und tatsächlich gibt es Stimmen im Text, die einer solchen Idealisierung und einem ‚Zurück zur Natur' das Wort reden. Aber es gibt auch andere. Erst die Auflösung der Stimmenvielfalt des Textes zugunsten der Identifikation einer eindeutigen Grundaussage lässt bestimmte Äußerungen im Text als Elemente einer systematischen ‚Naturtheorie‘ Diderots erscheinen. Jedoch muss eine solche Lesart nicht nur eine konstitutive Ebene des Textes – seine multiperspektivische Form – außer Acht lassen, sie verstrickt sich auch auf inhaltlicher Ebene in Widersprüche. In diesem Beitrag wird versucht, die verschiedenen Positionen im Text in ihrem Zusammenhang zu betrachten. Aus diesem Blickwinkel zeigt sich, dass Diderot sich keineswegs als autoritatives Sprachrohr der Natur aufführt. Im Gegenteil. Indem er die Vielfalt der Stimmen, die sich auf die ‚natürliche' Ordnung als Legitimitätsbasis ihrer jeweiligen Autorität beziehen, miteinander kontrastiert, zeigt er performativ, was es heißt, sich auf die Veränderlichkeit der Natur einzulassen, ohne den Anspruch zu erheben, sie ein für alle Mal festlegen zu können.

This work addresses bell hooks’s call for the development of an alternative to patriarchal masculinity which she calls feminist masculinity. Patriarchal masculinity has convinced most men and women that the development of different forms of masculinity goes against our biological nature. Yet there exists a history of men’s experiences that contradicts this perspective and amounts to, I argue, men’s feminist history.
In particular I argue that the life and work of French philosophe Condorcet constitutes a historical cornerstone for feminist masculinity. An important implication of this work
is the understanding that gender dissolution is not the only strategy capable of rectifying gender inequality. Siding with a range of feminist perspectives, from ecofeminism and Black feminism, I contend that we can accomplish much through a critical reconstruction of men and masculinity, including the reevaluation of historic figures such as Condorcet.

Rédigé en 1772 et donné pour la première fois au public en 1796, le "Supplément au Voyage de Bougainville" de Diderot occupe une place marquante dans l’histoire du primitivisme. Notre étude se propose de montrer comment, dans cet ouvrage, les procédés de création – les récits enchâssés, les prises de parole et la structure polyphonique de la narration – mettent en place un jeu subtil à valeur ontologique où se détache une image de l’Autre et du Moi en gestation. Bien loin d’être réglée, l’opposition de ces deux pôles dessine un sujet divisé qui se fait dans le langage et se manifeste dans et par un réseau complexe de voix dont le fonctionnement n’est ni identique ni même complémentaire. C’est par ce mouvement, fait d’apories et de paradoxes, que la pratique dialogique acquiert chez Diderot sa pleine fécondité, devenant à la fois une méthode d’interprétation et le produit de cette interprétation.

Les disciplines médicales et la philosophie de la nature ont exercé une puissante fascination sur Denis Diderot. Peut-être y était-il prédestiné par la profession de son père, coutelier spécialisé dans la fabrication d'instruments chirurgicaux. Plus sérieusement, cet attrait, qui ne s'est jamais démenti chez l'auteur, lui a permis d'affiner sa conception matérialiste du monde. Il ne s'agit pas de remplacer la religion par les sciences naturelles, mais simplement de se libérer de certains carcans intellectuels qui obscurcissent ou obstruent le champ de vision du penseur. L'un de ses premiers travaux fut de traduire avec Eidous et Toussaint le Dictionnaire universel de médecine et de chirurgie de Robert James. Ainsi, dès ses premiers ouvrages personnels, comme les Pensées philosophiques ou même Les Bijoux indiscrets, Diderot était nourri des traités médicaux majeurs de son temps. Il a également pris part aux principaux débats liés à la santé, comme lors de la longue controverse suscitée par l'inoculation. Mais l'art de soigner ne constitue pas seulement un outil de pensée pour le philosophe. Il fournit également des moyens pour enrichir ou composer une fiction. Qu'il s'agisse de la présence de personnages faisant profession de guérir ou qu'il s'agisse d'allusion à certains médecins bien réels, on trouve une profusion de références médicales dans toute l'oeuvre romanesque de notre auteur. Cet emprunt nourrit Diderot sur différents plans : sa philosophie athée, sa réflexion sur la société et son esthétique romanesque. Sans vouloir livrer une étude exhaustive sur ce vaste sujet, nous nous concentrerons sur Jacques le fataliste et son maître, qui réunit chacun de ces aspects afin de les intégrer à la dynamique du récit. En effet, ce roman constitue précisément une tentative pour mettre en scène le déterminisme immanent de Diderot, ce fatalisme lié aux combinaisons des éléments du vivant. Ce texte qui se déploie en suivant tous les soubresauts et les hasards du voyage, construisant ainsi un roman « à sauts et à gambades », toujours en destruction et en création – comme la vie. Notre étude portera sur l’évolution du terme de « génie » au tournant du XVIIIème siècle, et plus spécifiquement sur le rôle spécifique de Diderot dans le basculement conceptuel historique de la notion de génie, de la vision classique de « grand homme » (qu’a personnifié Voltaire) à la figure de l’homme de génie malheureux (qu’ont incarnée notamment Gilbert et Rousseau), cette dernière ayant contribué à la cristallisation d’un mythe récupéré par les romantiques, soit celui du « génie aux prises avec la fortune  ».

Alienation [Verfremdung] is a concept that is inextricably linked with the name of Bertolt Brecht; with twentieth-century modernism, the avant-garde and Marxist theory. However, alienation as a sociological and aesthetic notion avant la lettre surfaced already long before the twentieth century in the thought of eighteenth-century French philosopher Denis Diderot. This comparative study destabilizes the dramaturgical definition of 'Verfremdung' we inherited from Brecht, by looking back at the dramaturgical and philosophical writings of Denis Diderot, in particular LE PARADOXE SUR LE COMEDIEN and LE NEVEU DE RAMEAU. It thereby seeks to open up new ways of understanding its aesthetic, political and sociological dimensions and potentialities. If for the Marxist Brecht, alienation constitutes a specific stage in history tied to capitalist socio-economy, it defines for Diderot an inescapable existential condition embedded in human sociality. Brecht uses the alienation-effect to disrupt and hollow out a form of naturalism thriving on subjectivity, identification and illusion; Diderot, by contrast, plunges the spectator into processes of identification and illusion, only to create an awareness of the subject's profound situation of self-delusion. Illusion, subjectivity and identification are thus exploited as aesthetic tools to confront alienated social relations and conditions into which the subject is inscribed. Whilst a Brechtian notion of theatricality purges the theatre of its absorptive capacity, Diderot's baroque theatricality celebrates and expands the theatre in all its dimensions and forces.

The point of view indicating that consumption is just the function of income collapsed and the point of view indicating that irrational different factors can be determinant in consumption phenomenon has become dominant. In the explanation of this irrational condition in consumption, the interdisciplinary approach where the concepts in sociology and psychology literature are used can be instructive. In this work, the place of Diderot effect and Zeigarnik effect thought to be psychological reasons behind irrational consumption activities in consumption phenomenon and marketing discipline was examined. As a result of literature review made within the study, it was determined that departure products and the products bought as a result of symbolic values could be effective in forming new Diderot unities. In addition,it was determined that the advertisements prepared by using Zeigarnik effect and provided incomplete receive audiences' attention more, arouse audiences' interest, and stick in audiences' mind.

How we think of the relationship between the Jesuits and the Enlightenment largely depends on how we conceptualize the latter. This chapter addresses it as a series of debates conducted in the context of a cosmopolitan Republic of Letters and a number of specific cultural practices that made that very Republic possible. The Jesuits were, therefore, participants in, rather than enemies of, the Enlightenment. Because they combined theological conservatism with cultural modernity, the Jesuits were feared and resented with particular vehemence. Placed between two different modernities, one characterized by global structures of communication and learning, as well as by the practices of cultural accommodation, the other by the attack on superstition and religious authority, the Jesuits helped create the conditions for the Enlightenment, making important but paradoxical contributions to some of its central debates. Nowhere was it more obvious than in the impact of missionary ethnographies concerning the "Gentile" pagan peoples of the world.

Étienne La Font de Saint Yenne’s Réflexions emerges in 18th Century France seemingly prior to formal art criticism and at a proto-critical moment before L’Encyclopédie. One of its primary gestures, as Thomas Crow has pointed out, is to make the determination of value in painting and art a public matter, which also presents the reason why it was poorly received by artists still tied to a private system of guilds, societies, and royal patronage. Réflexions represents  textual production for the sake of a parallel artistic ecosystem in which the commentary of words that was art’s Other graduates from the écriteau and public applause or boos to monographs even paving the way for Denis Diderot’s writings on the art salon mid-century. The art critical monograph of La Font then, makes a connection from artistic ecosystems to print ecosystems, bringing the former into a new framework of critical reception and a prospectus for a novel mode d’emploi for works of art. La Font’s text is still interesting today because of this equation of the value systems of print with those of the visual arts and how it therefore transforms the notion of a critical context for visual art.

Статья посвящена первому советскому изданию «Парадокса об актере», подготовленному Н.Е. Эфросом и увидевшему свет сначала в Москве и Петрограде, а затем в Ярославле, в 1922-м и 1923 годах соответственно. В обеих брошюрах тексту Дидро было предпослано восторженное и в то же время чрезвычайно проницательное предисловие А.В. Луначарского: «маленьким шедевром» Дидро театральный отдел Наркомпроса предполагал открыть «серию отзывов величайших людей Европы о театре». Этому замыс­лу не суждено было реализоваться, но появление в печати «Парадокса» стало заметным событием  театральной жизни начала 1920-х годов. Литературные и театральные критики, а также актеры, откликнувшиеся на выход книги, писали о произведении полуторавековой давности так, как будто оно было создано их современником: спорили, восхищались, опровергали. Одной из наиболее значимых (хотя и опосредованных) реакций на первую публикацию «Парадокса» стала анкета, подготовленная театральной секцией ГАХН и предложенная ведущим актерам московских театров в сезон 1922/23 года. Анкета, почти семьдесят вопросов которой так или иначе касались «чувствительной» и «рациональной» составляющей актерской игры, была составлена Л.Я. Гуревич и Н. Е. Эфросом, верными соратниками К.С. Станиславского.

La difficoltà di collocare "La Religieuse" di Diderot all'interno di un sicuro genere letterario, così come la complessità del processo di composizione del testo, permettono di individuare nel romanzo una poetica della "finzione vera", in cui la mistificazione letteraria acquista un valore estetico e filosofico inedito. L'epistolarità fittizia appare al servizio di un regime dell'illusione estetica che si offre come strumento privilegiato per la comunicazione della verità. Pubblicato in "Le carte false.
