Il «Gramsci creolo», nasce a Marcaria, nell’entroterra mantovano, nel 1926. La sua è una vita intensa, fatta di Resistenza e politica internazionale. A soli 17 anni, raggiunge la Brigata partigiana autonoma “Vicenza”,  sale sui Monti Lessini e col nome di battaglia “Nadia” (in russo “speranza”) combatte i nazifascisti. Per il suo coraggio gli verrà riconosciuta la Medaglia di Bronzo al Valor Militare. Il 25 aprile 1945 è a Milano come guardia del corpo di Sandro Pertini.

This opinion piece argues that there is a conceptual problem with making a human rights assessment of the Cuban situation and Fidel Castro's legacy. Namely, the present language of human rights cannot adequately capture the types of rights that exist in the type of society that Cuba represents - that is, a socialist society. The most prominent right in socialism is freedom from economic exploitation, which ensures that no private profit can be made from exploiting a person's labour and which is absent in the Western catalogue of rights.

RESUMO: Por meio deste projeto será possível analisar o internacionalismo proletário promovido pela República de Cuba como um fator fundamental nas Relações Internacionais. A pesquisa busca observar fatos por meio de uma ótica Marxista, da universalização do proletariado e da influência dos grandes internacionalistas revolucionários: Fidel Castro e Che Guevara. O segundo capítulo do projeto estará destinado apenas a explicar as principais teorias Marxistas da Relações Internacionais. Será abordado neste projeto também as grandes contribuições  no âmbito de cooperação internacional exercidos pela República de  Cuba durante os últimos anos à favor da sociedade internacional, como  por exemplo, projetos educacionais, intervenções e programas médicos e ajuda armada por todo o mundo.

ABSTRACT: Through this project it will be able to review the proletarian internationalism promoted by the Republic of Cuba as an important factor to the International Relations. This research seeks to observe facts through a Marxist view of the universalization of the working class and the influence of the greatest revolutionaries internationalists: Fidel Castro and Che Guevara. On the second chapter, it will be assigned to explain the greatest Marxists theories in the International Relations. Also, on this project it will be shown the huge contribution done by the Republic of Cuba to international cooperation in the past years on behalf of the international society, such as, through educational projects, interventions and medical programs and armed aid through the whole world.

ESPERANÇA E POTÊNCIA O maior líder que a América já viu. Um déspota sanguinário. O revolucionário que partiu da consciência à práxis. São muitas as maneiras que o mundo costuma inferir ao se referir ao nome de Fidel Castro Ruz. O que dificilmente acontece é a passividade, como reação à sua figura. Em processo penal decorrido de sua prisão em 1953, quando orquestrou levante contra o governo (de fato) de Fulgêncio Batista (1952-1959), Fidel cunhou a frase que encerra seu discurso de defesa e que pode bem definir a existência desse homem, tão relevante para a história do século XX. Então um jovem advogado de família de classe média, Fidel, exasperado por um governo ditatorial e subserviente, decide que partir para a ação prática, pegando em armas, seria a única maneira de fazer um enfrentamento real, visto o cerceamento das vias democráticas. Nasce o ideal revolucionário que, poucos anos mais tarde, viria a consumar a República Socialista mais longeva da história do Ocidente. Em sua explanação, Fidel transparece todo o brilhantismo e paixão que marcam seus discursos durante toda a sua vida. Dono de uma retórica poderosa, Castro dá cores vivas ao soturno passado, e presente, nos quais submergia o futuro da ilha. Com a tomada do poder por um grupo militar, liderado por Batista, Cuba passa, de fato, de protetorado (Emenda Platt, 1903) à neocolônia norte-americana. Sob o jugo imperialista a desigualdade dispara. A pobreza e o desalento tomam conta da população que vê todas as conquistas de sua histórica luta contra o poder colonial espanhol, esvaírem-se. Castro conta, em dado momento que, quando da assunção do governo golpista ele, cidadão conhecedor e ainda crente do sistema judicial, impetra ação contra Batista que, no decurso de seu golpe, havia cometido diversos crimes contra a Constituição da República. Qual não foi sua surpresa ao perceber que um judiciário prostrado ante um governo usurpador não poderia, contra esse, julgar em favor dos ditames constitucionais. A Constituição achincalhada, subvertida, pisoteada acaba, em ato validado pelo Poder Judicial (Tribunal de Garantias Constitucionais!), por ser subordinada à força de decretos. A carta maior do Estado torna-se hierarquicamente inferiorizada ante os decretos do ditador Fulgêncio, em uma óbvia arbitrariedade ilegal. Vencido pelos fatos, Fidel abre mão dos meios garantistas, já que deles não emanava nenhuma expectativa de justiça, e parte para a execução de um direito garantido pela Constituição Republicana de 1940, o direito à resistência (artigo 40 2). Em "O Princípio Esperança", Ernst Bloch se propõe a resgatar o conceito de esperança da passividade pejorativa da tradição platônica e cristã, recuperando assim o sentido positivo da utopia e do sonho como portadores de uma vontade atuante, capaz de modificar a realidade mediante uma práxis de viés marxista. 1 Art. 40-Las disposiciones legales, gubernativas o de cualquier otro orden que regulen el ejercicio de los derechos que esta Constitución garantiza, serán nulas si los disminuyen, restringen o adulteran. Es legítima la resistencia adecuada para la protección de los derechos individuales garantizados anteriormente. La acción para perseguir las infracciones de este Título es pública, sin caución ni formalidad de ninguna especie y por simple denuncia. (Cuba Constitución Política de 1940) 2

En el presente trabajo, esta dualidad es analizada a través de dos de las figuras políticas más importantes de Latinoamérica en el siglo pasado: Rómulo Betancourt y Fidel Castro.

EN: The dichotomy between reformism and revolution was one of the most discussed subjects on the academic field during the 20th Century, and it seems this debate is still valid as of today, particularly in Latin America. In this paper, this duality is analyzed through two of the most important political figures in Latin America last century: Romulo Betancourt and Fidel Castro.

The history of Cuba is one of conquest and rebellion. Since the arrival of Columbus, it has had two colonial masters: Spain and the United States. Spain, after the collapse of its empire, ceased to be a threat to the peoples of America. Now, the Spanish are among the principal investors in Cuba, and make up a high percentage of tourists to the island. The United States, engaged in empire-building as sole superpower and continuing to pursue a half-century-old policy of regime change in Cuba, is still seen by the Cubans as the greatest threat to their independence and sovereignty. This article reviews the history of relations between the two countries, seeking to contextualize their social origins and political evolution, concluding that an improvement in relations is unlikely absent a profound change in the political economy of either country, or of both, a change that could occur internally or be caused by external factors.

Los cubanos estamos manipulados en bandos opuestos al servicio del clan Rockefeller (una de las 5 sectas más poderosas de La Tierra, que puede y debe pagar por el daño). Fidel Castro fue su mejor agente escoltado por la CIA. El enemigo ha permanecido oculto, atrincherado en un trabajo ideado con científicos psicópatas. Somos víctimas y resultado de una guerra psicológica. Cuba es una balsa a la deriva donde se verán horrores inimaginables cuando se colapse. El conflicto cubano es un caso avivado constantemente por desconocer su procedencia y objetivo…, colocando al cubano como obstáculo del cubano. Nos han creado peculiaridades oscuras metamorfoseando nuestra mentalidad. Podemos vencer utilizando la fuerza del enemigo, oxidándola, en complot con los de fuera. No es necesario un líder. Sí en cada clan familiar.
Este libro aconseja no exponerse físicamente a ningún peligro. Se procuran aquí, tras preámbulos persuasivos, 105 ideas fáciles de aplicar para dejar de ser “pilar” de la tiranía que USA nos puso el 17-12-58. Las ideas pueden parecer absurdas, pero nada “inteligente”, ni la guerra del Escambray ni la B-2506 triunfaron. USA no nos ayudará porque un vacío en La Florida sería terrible y es el sitio que más dinero mueve en el mundo gracias al dolor cubano. Si lo hicieran, o si un general diera un golpe de Estado, el pueblo cubano no está apto para soportar una democracia. Además, un 94% vive en casas robadas. Aquí tienen la solución a ese problema, beneficiando a quien reclame la casa y a los descendientes de quienes aceptaron el robo-regalo de Fidel.
Miles de “líderes” han pedido la unión. Casi todos fabricados para fortalecer el trabajo de inteligencia que este libro intenta desactivar, insinuando “desunión” con el “pueril” propósito de que los que repararon a Japón por tirarle dos bombas, reparen a Cuba por las que desde el año 33 están tirando cada día. Este libro dice cómo, por qué y dónde, tenemos que exigir la libertad. ¿Cuándo? Eso lo decide el destinatario si el remitente logra repararle el amor por su familia, y hacerle saber dónde se hizo la trampa a la dignidad perdida.

The Bay of Pigs fiasco was doomed from the start.  From President Eisenhower's obsession with the threat of Communist rule and his impatient and aggressive drive to eliminate Fidel Castro to the unrealistic expectations of maintaining covert status all the way through the execution of Operation Zapata under the office of President Kennedy, the Bay of Pigs was littered with evidence contrary to its expected successful outcome (Andrew 1995, 251-266).

This text explores models of social and political control deployed in Cuba during the 1960s against individuals who did not conform to the revolutionary framework. Specifically, I examine the implementation of labor camps known as Military Units to Aid Production. These camps were created under the umbrella of compulsory military service, with the goal of “rehabilitating” homosexuals, artists, people of various religious beliefs, criminals and young men of bourgeois descent. These units will be addressed here as part of a policing system, within a broader project of social engineering based on the systematic intervention at all levels of life, the control of sexuality, and a pedagogy that rested on the political rehabilitation programs.

Using a historical approach, I argue why the recent agreement between United States and Cuba is an immediate and historic victory for the Cuban revolution, putting it in a stronger position to face an array of challenges.  In Part 2, I will argue that what has been the unique advantage of the Cuban revolution—that it was led by a revolutionary guerrilla movement from outside of the world Stalinism—has also been a source of its weakness.  To advance the Cuban revolution can relay on its own strength, in particular Che Guevara's theoretical contribution.  But to develop in the 21st century characterized by the combined social and planetary crisis, the Cuban revolution most goes beyond Guevara and Marx to ecocentric ecological socialism.

In a message, recorded on October 15, 2010, Fidel Castro stated:

“The use of nuclear weapons in a new war would mean the end of humanity,” adding: “Each and every government in the world has the obligation to respect the right to life of each and every nation and of the totality of all the peoples on the planet.”

Castro ended his message saying:

“In a nuclear war the ‘collateral damage’ would be the life of all humanity. Let us have the courage to proclaim that all nuclear or conventional weapons, everything that is used to make war, must disappear!”

It seems that Castro is trying to paint himself a-posteriori as a pacifist and anti-nuclear war advocate. This paper examines the facts showing that, on the contrary, the available record shows that Fidel Castro has always been an advocate for nuclear war. Actually, Fidel Castro is the man who in 1962 brought the world closer to a nuclear Armageddon than never before or after.

"Amerika" gündelik ifadelerimizde her ne kadar Amerika Birleşik Devletleri anlamında kullanılsa da gerçekte büyük ve çok zengin tarihsel birikime ve kültürel çeşitliliğe sahip bir kıtanın adıdır. Bu büyük kıta coğrafi ve politik egemenliği açısından "Kuzey" ve "Güney" olarak ikiye bölünmüş durumdadır. Fakat bu coğrafi belirleme yetersiz kaldığından ABD'nin güneyindeki uluslar kendi kıtasal birliklerini ifade ederken "Latin Amerika" adını tercih etmektedirler. Bunun nedeni "Orta Amerika" denilen kuzey ve güney arasında kalan görece dar toprak parçasında yer alan Salvador, Guatemala, Nikaragua, Kosta Rika, Honduras, Panama'nın ve ayrıca kıtanın kuzeyinde yer alan ABD'yle sınırdaş Meksika'nın da hegemonik ilişkiler açısından Güney Amerika'ya dahil olmasıdır. Bilim çevrelerinde tarihsel açıdan İspanyol fethi içinde yer alan Arjantin, Uruguay, Peru, Bolivya, Şili, Ekvador, Kolombiya, Venezuela, Meksika, Küba, Nikaragua, Panama, Kosta Rika ve Karayipler'deki diğer adalar İspanyol Amerika'sı anlamında "HispanoAmérica" olarak adlandırılır. Eğer bunlara Portekiz işgalindeki Brezilya'yı da dahil edersek İber Amerika'sı denir.
Buradaki demografik yapı oldukça karmaşıktır. Fakat kaba biçimde üçe ayırabiliriz: İlki İspanyolların fetih sırasında karşılaştıkları yerleşik halklardır. İkinci olarak Asya ve Afrika'dan taşınanlarla Amerikan yerlileri ve İspanyolların tek tek ve birbirleri arasındaki melez karışımlardan doğan kültürel bileşimden bahsedebiliriz. Sonuncusu da güçlü bir Avrupa kültürel mirasına sahip ve büyük servete el koyan göçmen nüfustur. İspanyolca (ve tabii Portekizce) ise tarihsel, sosyal, kültürel, coğrafi anlamda bu sentezin rahmine yerleştirilen dili ifade eder. Kolomb Hindistan'a vardığını zannettiğinden burada karşılaştığı insanlara Hintler manasında "indios" demiştir. Avrupalılar yerli halkı medeniyetten yoksun buluyorlardı. Bu nedenle muhteşem bir mimarlık ve sanat örneği olan Cuzco, Tikal, Tenochtitlan gibi kentleri yıkıp yağmalayarak, insanlarını katlederek soykırım üzerine kendi "medeniyetlerini" kurdular. Bir gök bilimci ve denizci olan İtalyan Amerigo Vespucci, buranın yeni bir kıta olduğunu fark etti. 1502 tarihli bir mektubunda bu nedenle "Yeni Dünya" adını kullandı. Onu doğru biçimde konumlandırarak Avrupa'nın batısına ve Asya'nın doğusuna henüz tanımlanmamış bir toprak parçası gibi koydu. Bir Alman haritacı 1507'de Die Cosmographiae Introductio adlı kitabındaki yerküre haritasında, yeni kıtanın adını Vespucci'nin anısına "Amerika" olarak adlandırdı. "Latin Amerika" adı kıtasal çerçevede İspanyol ve Portekiz İmparatorluklarının fethettiği topraklarda yaşayan halkları anlatır. Son iki yüzyılda sınırları çizilen Latin Amerika Uluslarına fetihçiler yalnızca dillerini ve dinlerini değil bir devlet geleneği ve sömürgecilikten kalan problemleri miras bırakmışlardır. Uluslaşma sonrası emperyalizmin bölgeye yönelik politikalarının genel bir "Latin" perspektifi taşıması da bölgenin her yerinde benzer ekonomik ve politik problemlerin yaşanmasına neden olmuştur. Fetih öncesinden gelen kültürel ve coğrafi yakınlık, fetih ve uluslaşma sürecinde yeni ortak tarihsel koşullarda devam etmiştir. Latin Amerika 21. yüzyıla Türkiye gibi ekonomik ve politik krizle girmiş büyük halk ayaklanmalarına ev sahipliği yaptı. 1980'den bu yana bölgede denetimsiz ve engelsiz uygulanan neoliberal politikalar sosyoekonomik yapıyı paramparça etmişti. ABD'ci egemen ittifak iktidarını sürdüremez, köhnemiş yönetim aygıtı işlemez hale gelmişti. Böylece ulusal-Sol, kalkınmacı, sosyalist parti ve liderlerin iktidarı kaçınılmaz hale geldi.
Bu iktidarlar, asrın ilk on yılında varlıklarını sürdürmekle kalmadılar tek tek her ülkede sosyal refahı artırmakta daha önce ulaşılamayan sonuçlara eriştiler. Gelir dağılımının dengelenmesi, sosyal politikalarla halkın yaşam koşullarının belirgin biçimde düzeltilmesi, bütçe açıklarının makul seviyelere indirilmesi, ticaretin ve ekonominin istikrarlı biçimde sürdürülmesi konularında büyük başarılar elde ettiler. Latin uluslarının her birinde gerçekleşen bu gelişmeler kıtasal birliğin sağlanmasına da büyük katkıda bulundu. Kıtanın ABD'ye bağımlı eski örgütlenmelerinden uzaklaşılıp yeni ekonomik ve siyasal örgütlenmeler yaratıldı. Çok kısa bir sürede kıtada sadece sermayenin değil emeğin de serbest hareketi sağlandı. 600 milyona dayanan dinamik bir nüfusla güçlü bir ekonomi ve gelişen bir "pazar" potansiyeli taşıyan ve artık istikrarlı yönetimler çıkaran Latin Amerika 21. yüzyılda bölgesel bir güç olma yolunda ilerliyor. Dünyanın diğer tarafındaki uluslar artan biçimde kıtanın üyeleriyle işbirliği ve ortaklık yolları arıyor. Bu ilgi artışı kıtaya yönelik daha fazla bilgi akışı ihtiyacı doğuruyor. Zira ülkemizde her geçen gün daha fazla yayında Latin Amerika'ya değiniliyor. Ancak bu yayınların çoğu ister politik isterse ekonomik ya da kültürel amaçlarla olsun bir tür "pazarlama" mantığı taşıdığından yalan, yanıltıcı ve eksik bilgilerden oluşuyor. Latin Amerika konusunda ülkemizdeki bilgi kirliliği aşırı boyutlara varmış durumda. Bu kirlenmenin sorumlularının kaynakları ise genelde Kuzey Amerika ve Avrupa'daki yayınlar. Çok az bir kısmı doğrudan kıtadan besleniyor. Bunların içinde ise sağlıklı bir değerlendirme yapabilenlerin sayısı bir elin parmaklarını geçmez. Politik düzlemde demagojik ve spekülatif değerler, popüler düzlemde "Chávez'ci çılgınlıklar" ya da "Marcos'un karizması" üzerinden kurulan irrasyonel bir Latin Amerika'yla karşı karşıyayız. Kıtanın gerçek değer ve devrimci üretimleri bu bilgi kirliliği içinde kaybolup gidiyor. "Yalnızca gelecekten emin olabiliriz; geçmiş sürekli değişmekte" sözünü doğrularcasına tarih üzerine söylenen her şey bugünün pratiğinde sınanıyor. Buradan bakınca tarih, hiç de "ölüyü sorgulamaya" benzemiyor. Çünkü "pratik", tarihçinin sorduğu sorulara göre şekillenmiyor. O, binyıllara dayanan tecrübelerden besleniyor ve kendi yolunu açıyor. Latin Amerika'nın Devrimci Tarihi yalnızca bir arşiv ve kütüphane çalışması değildir. Yıllara ve kıtaya yayılan kişisel tecrübenin "pratik" sonucudur. O tecrübe ki Mapuche'lerin ya da İnka'ların acılı tarihini kitaplardan okuyup "üzüntüyü" okurla paylaşmaktan öteye, onları tanıma ve tarihlerini anlama fırsatını sağlamıştır. Bu manada çalışmanın "duyarlılığı" kıtaya yakılan ağıtlarda ya da yerli kültürüne düzülen övgüde değil, kıtanın ve halkların kaderinin nasıl değişebileceği noktasındadır. Yalnızca Türkiye'de değil Batı'da da Latin Amerika üzerine bütünsel çalışmalar bulmak zor. Araştırmalarım sırasında, fetihten günümüze tüm sosyal ve politik gelişmelerin toplandığı bir eserle karşılaşmadım. Yayınların büyük kısmı popüler karakterleri ve belli tarihsel kesitleri içeriyor. Üstelik tüm bu eserler, sömürgeciliğe övgü ya da yergiden ibaret olan, aynı temel Batılı tezleri tekrar ediyor. Oysa ne Latin Amerikalılar ne de diğer halklar kendini zamana uyduran bu sömürgeci tezlere muhtaç değil. Elinizdeki bu çalışma yalnızca Latin Amerika tarihine kıtadan bakmakla yetinmiyor, aynı zamanda Latin Amerika'ya özgü olan tecrübe ve kavramları Türkçeleştiriyor. Zira tarihsel tecrübeler dil gibidir: Kendi topraklarının tarihini bilmeyen biri için başka milletlerin tarihini de kavramak pek olası değildir. Latin Amerika'nın Devrimci Tarihi kendi tarihini yapmak için mücadele edenlerin 500 yıllık kavgasını anlatıyor. Bu kitap kendi tarihinin yapıcısı, tanığı ve "kurbanı" olanların eseridir. Dès le Triomphe de la Révolution, en 1959, le gouvernement castriste définit les principes d’une politique éducative et culturelle pensée comme une priorité de l’action révolutionnaire en tant que moyen d’émancipation sociale. En juin 1961 Fidel Castro définit le rôle et les objectifs assignés à la création artistique lors du « Discours adressé aux intellectuels » prononcé à la Bibliothèque Nationale de La Havane :

« La Révolution [...] doit agir de façon à ce que tous ces artistes et intellectuels qui ne sont pas franchement révolutionnaires, trouvent dans la Révolution leur source de travail et d’inspiration, et que leur esprit créatif, même lorsqu’ils ne sont pas foncièrement révolutionnaires, ait l’occasion et la liberté de s’exprimer, dans la Révolution. Cela signifie qu’à l’intérieur de la Révolution tout ; contre la Révolution, rien du tout. »

La culture doit servir les intérêts du peuple [donc de la Révolution] et traduire ses attentes et ses aspirations. Mais l’histoire montrera un parcours plus tourmenté et sinueux. L’attitude du régime à l’égard du monde artistique a beaucoup varié, surtout dans les périodes d’ouverture et de crise des années 1980 et 1990 au point de s’interroger sur la continuité et les fractures qui ont marqué cette période agitée.

Quizás muy pocos sepan o recuerden que la controversial revista de entretenimiento para hombres, Playboy —creada por Hugh Hefner en 1953, y uno de los medios de más circulación en Estados Unidos durante las décadas de los sesenta y los setenta— fue un espacio a través del cual Fidel Castro pudo llegar a millones de personas. El libro cuenta, entre otras cosas, la historia de la relación entre el dictador cubano y la revista Playboy. La publicación, como se demuestra en el texto, se convirtió no solo en una plataforma para el Comandante, sino también en una suerte de canal secreto (back channel) desde donde se gestionaron algunas negociaciones entre políticos y lobistas estadounidenses con el gobierno cubano. Este es un relato diferente de la Guerra Fría, construido a partir de fuentes raras y no convencionales como revistas eróticas, tabloides de chismes y tramas de pulp fiction.

Biografía de Enrique Pérez-Serantes, arzobispo y primado de la Iglesia cubana entre 1948-1968. Este prelado ha pasado a la historia por su frontal oposición a la dictadura de Batista y por salvar la vida a Fidel Castro en 1953 tras el asalto al cuartel Moncada.

A partir de una inquisitiva revisión documental este artículo muestra cómo una parte del sector intelectual latinoamericano ha subordinado su perspectiva crítica a la visión del mundo impuesta por los líderes de la Revolución cubana. Los debates intelectuales surgidos tras la confiscación del film PM (1961) y tras el caso Padilla (1968-1971) servirán para detallar cómo algunos artistas y escritores adquirieron la distinción de “intelectuales comprometidos” al subordinar su criterio a la autoridad de Fidel Castro. De esta manera se mostrará hasta qué punto la valoración que hoy en día se hace de algunos aspectos de la realidad latinoamericana simplemente se limita a reproducir valoraciones impuestas por una de las figuras políticas más atávicas de nuestra historia.

This paper deals with the background, role players, sequence of events, geopolitical considerations and history of the Angolan War which took place from 1975 to 1990 between the Soviet Union and its allies & proxies on the one hand, and the Republic of South Africa and its allies on the other. It also has a section presenting a rebuttal of previously published material on this subject, and a section on disinformation techniques used in and by the Soviet Union.

Con motivo de la muerte de Fidel Castro escribí ese mismo día una nota que subí a internet. A las pocas horas había yo recibido muchas respuestas, entre otras una que tenía un tinte oficial de las autoridades cubanas. A todas estas notas repliqué de inmediato. Y me llovieron respuestas de todo tono y violencia, dado el carácter crítico de mis textos, que desmitificaban al muerto como un dictador y asesino.
El diálogo prosiguió a lo largo de las siguientes semanas. El texto que aquí se publica de nuevo es el compendio de esa discusión. Yo fui testigo de lo que hizo y vivió Fidel Castro.

La imagen que todo el mundo tiene del Che Guevara es aquella del “Che” con su boina negra, con la estrella roja y la amplia cabellera al viento, que fotografiara “Korda” (Alberto Díaz). Aquel Che Guevara que se convirtió en “poster divino” para las generaciones postreras. Pero eso no nos dice nada más que una vida mitificada al máximo, fruto de indocumentadas lucubraciones.
