The combined sugar and ethanol production process from sugar cane is a paradigmatic application for energy integration strategies because of the high number of hot and cold streams involved, the external hot utility requirement at two temperature levels for juice evaporation and crystallization, and the
electricity demand for juice extraction by milling. These conditions make it convenient to combine the sugar-cane process with a CHP system fuelled by bagasse, the main by-product from juice extraction. The strategies, tools and expertise on energy integration developed separately by the research teams authoring this paper are applied here jointly to optimize the synthesis and the design parameters of the
process and of the total site starting from the basic idea of dissociating the heat exchanger network design problem from the total site synthesis problem. At first the minimization of the external heat requirement for the process alone is pursued and results show that a one third reduction can be achieved
by optimal heat integration. Then the use of the by-product bagasse for on-site power generation is considered and two bagasse-fuelled CHP systems are optimized along with some parts of the sugar and ethanol production process in order to obtain maximum total site net power. Results show a variety of
interesting scenarios of combined sugar, ethanol and electricity production plants with considerably high electricity output.

This article employs two previously neglected indicators of racial prejudice from the British Social Attitudes surveys to examine the social distribution of prejudices against black and Asian Britons. Three hypotheses are proposed and tested: that racial prejudice is declining in Britain; that this decline is principally generational in nature; and that greater prejudice is shown towards more culturally distinct Asian minorities than black minorities. Strong evidence is found for the first two hypotheses, with evidence of an overall decline in prejudice and of a sharp decline in prejudices among generations who have grown up since mass black and Asian immigration began in the 1950s. Little evidence is found for the third hypothesis: British reactions towards black and Asian minorities are broadly similar suggesting racial differences may still be the main factor prompting white hostility to British minorities.

Toplumların kültürel bünyesi yıllar içerisinde birçok etken sebebiyle başkalaşım
geçirmektedir. Siyasi, ekonomik, sosyal nedenler gibi pek çok etken tarafından
belirlenen kuşaklar; yaşandığı dönemin insanlarının değerlerini, tutum ve davranışlarını,
yaşam stillerini, iletişim ve etkileşimlerini, algı ve yargılarını değiştirmekte ve
farklılaştırmaktadır. Farklılaşan bu değerler sebebiyle kuşaklar birbirleri ile iletişim ve
etkileşim bozuklukları, anlaşmazlıklar ve çatışmalar yaşamakta, yaşanan bu tür
sorunların çözülebilmesi içinse kuşakların birbirlerini anlamaları gerekmektedir.
Bu çalışmada, üniversitede görevli X Kuşağı (1965-1980 arası doğanlar)
akademisyenlerin, Y Kuşağı (1981-1995 arası doğanlar) öğrenci özellikleri ile ilgili ne tür
algılara sahip olduklarının ve buna karşılık Y Kuşağı üniversite öğrencilerinin de,
derslerine giren X Kuşağı akademisyenlerin kendileri ile olan etkileşimleri hakkında
nasıl bir algı ve görüşe sahip olduklarının tespiti hedeflenmiştir. Bu amaçlar için veri
aracı olarak, X Kuşağı akademisyenlere yapılan çalışma için Smith ve Smith (2005)’in
“Öğretmenlerin Y Kuşağı Öğrenci Özellikleri Algıları Ölçeği” Isparta SDÜ İİBF’de
görevli 68 akademisyene, Y Kuşağı öğrencilere yapılan çalışma için Wubbels ve Levy
(1993)’nin “Öğretmen Etkileşim Ölçeği” yine aynı fakültede 2014-2015 eğitim-öğretim
yılında öğrenim gören 6.766 öğrenciye uygulanmıştır.
Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre; X Kuşağı akademisyenler, Y Kuşağı öğrenci
özellikleriyle ilgili genel olarak olumsuz bir algıya sahipken, alt boyutlardan öğrenme
yeterliliklerini de olumsuz değerlendirmekte, bunun yanında öğrencilerin iş ve iletişim
özelliklerine dair olumlu ya da olumsuz bir eğilim belirtmemektedirler. Buna karşılık Y
Kuşağı öğrencilerin, X Kuşağı akademisyenlerin kendileri ile olan etkileşimlerine dair
algıları ise genel olarak olumlu yöndedir ve öğrenciler, X Kuşağı akademisyenleri bir
yandan lider, yardımsever/cana yakın, anlayışlı, kararlı, memnun olan ve uyarıcı
olmayan kişiler olarak görürlerken diğer yandan sert olan ve özgürlükçü olmayan kişiler
olarak görmektedirler.

Cultural structure of society go through changes in time due to many reasons.
Generations who are determined by a lot of factors such as politics, economics, social
agents; change the values, behaviors and attitutes, morals, lifestyles, interactions and
communication, perception of the peeople with whom they live. Due to these
differences generations cannot understand each other and conflict with one another. In
order to tackle these problems, generations should understand each other better.
In this study, it has been aimed to identify what kind of perception “the
generation X (born between 1965 and 1980)” have towards “the generation Y (born
between 1981 and 1995)”. On the other hand, it has been aimed to determine what sort
of perception “the generation Y” have towards “the generation X” who teach “the
generation X”. For this aim as a means of data, for the study carried out for “the X
generation”, “Teacher Perceptions of Generation Y Student Characteristics Scale” of
Smith and Smith (2005) has been applied to 68 academicians working at SDÜ İİBF. For
the study carried out for “the generation Y” students, the “Questionnaire on Teacher
Interaction (QTI) scale” of Wubbels and Levy (1993) has been applied to 6.766 students
who study at the same faculty in the years 2014-2015.
According to the results of the study; while “the generation X” academicians
have generally a negative perception about the properties of “the generation Y”
students, they assess their learning proficiency from the subscale negatively, moreover
they do not indicate a positive or negative tendency about the students’ features of work
and communication. In contrast, “the generation Y” students’ perception about “the
generation X” academics’ interaction with themselves is generally positive and while
students, on the one hand, see “the generation X” academics as leader, helpful/friendly,
considerate, determined, content and nonstimulating person, on the other hand they see
them as strict and nonliberal person.

In this paper, I address the problem of generation and destruction in Spinoza’s philosophical system. I approach this problem by providing an account of how Spinoza can maintain that contrary finite modes cannot inhere in the same substance, while substance itself does not change. One must distinguish between the formal essence of a mode and the existence of a mode and how these two entities are “in” substance. Formal essences are eternal and are in substance in a Platonic sense, while existent modes are temporal and are in substance insofar as they are parts of the whole of nature, or facies totius universi (face of the universe). Furthermore, the former are modes understood as pure relations, while the latter are modes understood as finite individuals. Formal essences are relations that specify how finite individuals will behave once they come into existence, while existent modes are individuals that express the relations defined by formal essences, as forces that possess a capacity to act and to be acted upon. According to these distinctions, I maintain that it is possible to develop a coherent account of contrariety and, consequently, of generation and destruction in Spinoza’s system.

The paper deals with Posidonius' notion of metaphysical substance meant both as individual substance and universal matter; analogies with, and difformities from Stoic metaphysics, with particular attention to Chrysippus' theory of individual, are delineated, as well as the relation of Stoic and Posidonian idea of change to Aristotelian theory of generation.

This article examines memories of socialism among different generations in Nowa Huta, Poland. Initially built as an industrial 'model socialist town', since 1989 Nowa Huta experienced economic decline and marginalization. Its socialist legacy is now being reinterpreted in ways that reflect changed political, economic, and social conditions. This article describes contemporary public representations of the town's history and considers how they resonate with the experiences and understandings of different generations of residents, from the town's builders to the youngest generation, who have no firsthand memories of the socialist period. It demonstrates how generational categories are both reflected and constructed through different accounts of the past, while also revealing overlaps between them. Throughout, specific attention is paid to the relationship between narratives of the past, present, and future, and present-day political and economic realities.

Water is an important aspect in aspects of life. In agriculture it is a major component of photosynthesis and transportation of nutrients from the soil to plants. Usually farmers provide water twice a day on a regular basis, but at certain times require excess water to maintain soil moisture. In chili plants, humidity needs around 60% to 80% so that plants can grow to the maximum. Internet of things (IoT) technology can help farmers to support the water needs that are in the soil. With IoT technology it can also help in the irrigation process by releasing or managing pumps automatically. The IoT device used to make this system is equipped with NodeMCU, a humidity sensor and a mobile based application as an IoT device control software. The Internet of Things (IoT) system can help the irrigation system in chilli plants to ensure the safety of the soil is raised 60% to 80%.

Film cognition theory, technological advances and philosophic discussions of the digital context are vital to my art practice, since they affect and express collective and individual understandings of moving digital imagery in the gallery and out in the world. An entity seems to have developed from spectatorship and participation in wider moving-image cultures, whereby all othernesses are incorporated into a ‘we’.  This is a form of cyber-consciousness in a landscape that is perpetually reconfigured.

The paper presents a method for calculation of Inverter power clipping loss due to PV array oversizing or high DC to AC ratio. For calculation, a PV plant installed in southern region of India having DC to AC ratio 1.4 was selected. Since a PV plant runs at full load in peak hours only (i.e. 11 am to 2 pm) when the irradiance level is ≥ 1000 W/m2 , which results in inverter power clipping (InPC) whereas at lower irradiance the produced PV power is also low which will not lead inverter power clipping. The high DC to AC ratio, increases the generation at lower irradiation but when the irradiance is high i.e. ≥ 1000 W/m2 , the inverter limits the input DC power and hence the inverter power also limited as per rated capacity of inverter. Hence the power generated by oversized PV array is lost at high irradiance and termed as Inverter power clipping loss. The significance of calculation of clipping loss is to optimize the inverter DC to AC ratio & also to estimate the guaranteed PV plant PR (performance ratio) as due to clipping loss the PV plant PR drops & it leads misinterpretation to observer as low performance of PV plant. If clipping loss is added to the observed PR, then the actual PR will rise to meet the expected PR. Hence the paper presents the method to calculate the simulated power as per expected PV plant PR & irradiance to provide the inverter power clipping loss

This thesis aims to provide alternative and innovative plan models for Chinese cities that are currently under rapid development. Using digital technology, the author strive to integrate the diverse local structure in social and spatial aspects with the ambition and demands of city’s expansion. Firstly, though parameterization, the local infrastructure, industry chain and living patterns were diagrammatized, quantized and input as reference database. Secondly, digital sequence simulation is used as an innovative tool to promote interventions among above elements and generate emergent process of living activities which interact to each other base on cellular automata theory. Finally, building behaviors of this area were predicted and outputted possible master plan in desirable future. This study arrives at an open scenario the feasible prospect. A conclusion is drawn to reflect the process, achievement and weakness of the research.

To satisfy the increasing demand for power and reducing CO2 emission, the future generation system must meet the demand, reli ability, efficiency and sustainability. This has increased the generation of power by using solar, wind, tidal, and many more. A wireless power transmission using microwave is a system which comprises satellite based solar power system (SPS), microwave generator, microwave transmitter (magnetron) and microwave receiver (rectenna). The DC power received on earth is converted into AC for various useful purposes. This paper gives a comprehensive study of various components of satellite based SPS and projects this technology as a vital source of power generation in future. Wireless power transmission is also be done by mutual induction which provides various charging facility.
