Bu kitap; duygusal ve davranışsal bozukluklara sahip öğrenciler hakkında bilgi sahibi olmak isteyen sınıf öğretmenleri, özel eğitim öğretmenleri ve alanda çalışan uzmanlar için hazırlanmış giriş niteliğinde bir uygulama kitabıdır. Her bir bozukluğun nedeni, tanımlanması, güncel araştırmalar ışığında verilmeye çalışılmış ve okul ortamındaki pratik uygulamalarla da anlatım zenginleştirilmiştir. Bunlara ek olarak belirli bir bozukluğun tüm yönlerine ilişkin temel yaklaşımla birlikte bilimsel olarak geliştirilmiş müdahele yöntemleri de verilmeye çalışılmıştır.

Bu kitabın alanda yeni çalışmaya başlayan öğretmenler kadar güncel verilerle desteklenen tanı koyma ve müdahele stratejilrine önem vermesi nedeniyle alanda uzun süredir çalışmakta olan öğretmenlere ve uzmanlara da yararlı olacağını düşünmekteyiz.

Anormal Psikoloji kitabı, ruhsal bozukluklar alanında çalışan tüm profesyoneller, psikiyatristler, klinik psikologlar, psikologlar, psikolojik danışmanlar, hekimler, sosyal hizmet uzmanları, psikiyatri hemşireleri ve bu alanlarda öğrenci yetiştiren akademisyenler ile eğitim alan öğrenciler için temel bir başvuru kitabıdır.
2013 yılının Mayısı ayında yayımlanan DSM-5 ölçütlerine göre ruhsal bozukluklarla ilgili sunulan bilgilerin güncellemesinin de yapıldığı bu kitap, tüm dünyada pek çok üniversitenin psikiyatri ve psikoloji bölümlerinde ders kitabı olarak okutulmaktadır.
Kitabın her bölümünde, ilk olarak ruhsal bozukluklarla ilgili vakalar sunulmakta, daha sonra bozuklukların klinik tanıları yapılmakta ve DSM-IV-TR’den farklı olan DSM-5’te yapılan değişikliklere yer verilmektedir. Ayrıca, DSM-5’teki tanı ölçütleri, bozuklukların etiyolojisi ve epidemiyolojisi, bozukluklar üzerinde kalıtımın ve çevrenin etkileri, biyolojik ve sosyal ve kültürel etkiler, en güncel araştırmalardan elde edilen verilerle harmanlanarak sunulmaktadır. Ruhsal bozuklukların tedavisinde etkili olacak terapi yaklaşımları ve ilaçla yapılan tedaviler hakkında da bilgiler veren kitap, sahip olduğu zengin içeriği ile eşsiz bir kaynaktır.
Anormal Psikoloji kitabının; profesyoneller ve öğrenciler için önemli bir rehber olacağına, yardıma ihtiyaç duyan insanların sorunlarının çözümüne, ruhsal bozuklukların tanı ve tedavisinde önemli katkılar sağlayacağına inanıyoruz.

Purpose: To identify educational needs of parents of students attended in ITO BİLSEM Bahçelievler and to determine training program modules
Problem Statement:
Science and Art Centers (SACs) are an institution in order to help them to identify and develop their personal abilities (painting, music and general mental ability) and capacities of children who are in preschool, primary school, high school in Turkey.  SACs give the students enriched educational activities apart from school hours. Students at these centers integration (harmony), support education, noticing individual talents, special skills development and project generation / management training programs are taken into regulated areas. SACs, which offer a differentiated educational program beyond the school-based education for special talented students to understand their potential, and to be able to contribute to themselves and collectivism, serve in 81 centers and 116 centers (MONE, 2017-2018 Student Identification Guide).
Parents are one of the most important stakeholders in education. Especially, The education  to be given to parents with gifted and talented children with special qualifications are critical important. Parent education, one of the sub-titles of adult education, are organized by the guidance unit in SACs. However, parents' educational desgin according to their needs and expectations analysis by taking into consideration of adult education perspectives have not been found in studies in literature.
In this study, the result of focus group study done for parents' educational needs of ITO SACs in Bahçelievler, İstanbu and the titles of the program will be shared
Method:
Qualitative Research Technique – Focus Group Study
Within the scope of this study, parents whose child is a student in ITO SAC Bahçelievler are trying to determine the need for education. It is a method of research that continues in semi-structured questions and conversation environment in the study, which takes 80 minutes and is recorded with the consent of the participants. The research was carried out at ITO SAC Bahcelievler. Eight (8) parents selected randomly assigned to an 80-minute focus group study.
Findings:
As a result of the focus group work, ITO BİLSEM parent education titles were determined as three main topics. Communication Skills Development, Communication with Gifted and Talented Adolescents, Social Media Dependence and Solutions in Gifted and Talented Children

Discussion and Conclusion:
After education period, it is aimed to measure the effectiveness of education at the end of the process and to present the results of education effectiveness measurement at national and / or international congresses.

Introduction

A while ago, I met a third-grade boy identified as gifted. He was not my first, but he was really exceptional. With a reach language he counted the gods in Greek mythology and compared them to those of the Roman's. He talked about the differences as well as similarities among these two lists, while bringing into the comparison other gods, from some more mythologies. When he finished his "lecture" I was too astounded even to close my mouth, he asked me not to tell his parents about this specific knowledge he had acquired. As he was learning in a state-religious school, and his parents were educators and counsellors in religious/Ultra-Orthodox communities, he was already ware of their dissatisfaction when learning about their son's large variety of interests, particularly in areas very far from the Jewish holy scripts.

A survey of more than 4,700 executives conducted by The Boston Consulting Group and World Federation of Personnel Management Associations showed that executives consider talent management as the most important human resource challenge. Ways on how companies can address these issues are also presented.

"להיות מתבגר מחונן" זו כותרת שעל פניו נראה שהיא מובנת; היא נבחרה מתוך מספר אפשרויות משום שהיא קליטה וקצרה ונראית ברורה. אולם, מתוך שלוש המלים שהיא מכילה רק "להיות" היא חד-משמעית. כאשר מדובר ב"מתבגר"  ההגדרות של המחצית השניה של המאה ה-21 שונות עד-מאוד מאלו של סוף המאה הקודמת, ואלה שונות מהגדרות שנות ה-80 וכו'. יתירה מזו: כולנו, כהורים, חווים את התבגרות ילדינו כשונה עד-מאוד מזו שלנו; הסבים שבינינו – אם ישנם – חוו את התבגרות ילדיהם כשונה משלהם. מחקר ענף על גיל ההתבגרות, שראשיתו לפני למעלה מ-100 שנה, עם צאתו לאור של ספרו המונומנטאלי של הול ((Hall, 2008 [1904], וסופו – מי ישורנו, מצביע על העובדה שכל הקשור למונח זה, החל מהתיחום הכרונולוגי – מתי מתחיל גיל זה ומתי הוא מסתיים, וכלה במשמעויות החוקיות, המשפחתיות, החברתיות והחינוכיות של "גיל ההתבגרות" בעולם בכלל ובארץ בפרט הוא נזיל, לא מוגדר היטב, תלוי במיקום הגיאוגרפי, בתרבות הספציפית של המשפחה והחברה, בדת וברמת הדתיות, כמו בגם במגדר, באג'נדה החינוכית, באימוץ תיאוריה פסיכולוגית זו או אחרת, ועוד.
בהרצאה זו נתייחס לכל המרכיבים הללו של "גיל ההתבגרות" בצורה גלובלית, תוך כדי השארת העמימות בכל הנוגע לגיל ה"מדויק" שבו אנו דנים, וזאת כדי ליצור את המכנה המשותף הרחב ביותר שיוכל לכלול את מרב הבעיות והקונפליקטים בהם נדון. ההרצאה היא בבחינת "תפריט טעימות", שכן, אין היא יכולה להקיף את כל הבעיות האופייניות למחונן המתבגר ולפיכך אין היא כמובן מתיימרת לתת להן מענה. עם זאת, בכוונתי לגעת במספר רב ככל האפשר של נושאים הרלבנטיים להורים של מתבגרים מחוננים, הורים שבנוסף על "תחלואי גיל ההתבגרות", עליהם מתלוננים מרבית ההורים לנערים ולנערות בגיל זה, נתקלים בבעיות מיוחדות, כאלה הנובעות ממחוננותם של ילדיהם, ואשר לא ניתן להן מענה ולו באחת ממסגרות הלימוד או החברה אשר אליהם שייכות משפחות המחוננים.
בנוסף לגורמים החוץ-משפחתיים המאפיינים את הנער והנערה המתבגרים קיימים גם גורמים המאפיינים חברות שונות, דתות שונות, מדינות שונות וכמובן – תרבויות שונות. המערכת הכללית זו הכוללת את המצב הכלכלי והחברתי, כמו גם הרגשי-משפחתי הספציפי למשפחה, חשובים עד מאוד בבניית העמידות של הילד, זו העוזרת ומאפשרת לו לעבור את גיל ההתבגרות בהצלחה לקראת האתגרים הנכונים לו כמבוגר. כפי שמסכמים רנטי ועמיתים (Renati et al., 2016,), ללא גישה לאווירה בריאה ילד או נער עלול לאמץ דפוסי התנהגות ואסטרטגיות שיחבלו במצב הרוויה הגופני, החברתי והרגשי שלו.

A nem szunnyadó erő 1 A tehetség fogalmának átgondolása Kivonat A tehetséggondozás kátyúja lehet, ha mechanisztikus megközelítéssel homogén tehetség fogalmat használunk, és a tehetséggondozásban nem különülnek el az eltérő fejlődésű tehetségeknek megfelelő módszerek. A 20. századi modellek is jelezték a tehetséget alkotó tényezők interaktivitását, de a gyakorlat teszt-orientált rendszere ezeket a modelleket bemerevítette. Számos revízió jelent meg, amelyek jelzik, hogy a tehetséggondozási gyakorlat nem hozta meg az eredményét, sőt sok tekintetben károkat is okozott. A megjelenő új modellek tevékenység-orientáltak, a tehetségazonosítás nem különül el a tehetséggondozás folyamatában, hanem egységet képez a tehetségfejlődés érdekében folyó tevékenységekkel. Jelen tanulmányomban a hazai és nemzetközi szakirodalomra támaszkodóan mutatom be a tehetség eltérő fejlődésű csoportjait, a tehetség összetevőinek jelentőségét és szerepét, valamint azt, hogy miért nem szunnyad és rejtekezik a tehetség, hanem aktívan keresi az útját. Bevezetés A hazai tehetséggondozás egyre nagyobb lehetőségeket kap. Európai Uniós és hazai finanszírozású kiemelt projektek foglalkoznak a tehetségek ellátásának javításán 2. Az ilyen nagy volumenű projekteknek nagy hatása van. Ezért nem közömbös, hogy ez a hatás milyen irányba visz. A szakmai tudás, a széleskörű hazai és nemzetközi szakirodalmi ismeretek alapján kialakított hazai tehetséggondozás nagy lehetőség. A szóban forgó könyvek szerzői jól értenek a tehetség elméletéhez is, hiszen ezért írhatnak a gyakorlatról, nem lett volna szükség arra, hogy a neves tehetségszakértővel megosztva írják a könyveiket.

Ünlü eğitim psikoloğu Robert Slavin'in Eğitim Psikolojisi kitabının onuncu baskısı, kuramı uygulamaya aktarma konusunda önemli bir eksikliği gidermekte ve öğretmenlerin sınıfta ihtiyaç duyabilecekleri alanlarda uygulayabilecekleri bilgileri içermektedir.

Kitap, yansıtıcı ve bilinçli bir öğretmenin uygulayabileceği en yeni araştırmaları sunarak, bilinçli öğretmen üzerine odaklanmaktadır. Slavin'e göre bilinçli öğretmen, uygulamasını devamlı surette yansıtan ve bu uygulamaların öğrencileri nasıl etkilediği hakkında net bir düşünceye dayalı olarak öğretim kararları veren kişidir.

Bu kitapta okuyucular alanda önemli ve yeni ortaya çıkan bazı konular ile karşılaşmaktadır. Dokuz bölümden oluşan bu kitapta tedavi kapsamlı olarak ele alınmıştır. Genel çerçevede, olumsuz duygularla başa çıkmanın daha uyumsal yollarını öğreten becerilerin kazanımı ile tıkanırcasına yeme ve boşaltmayı durdurma hedefine ulaşma yolu adım adım çizilmiştir. Blumia nervoza ve tıkanırcasına yeme bozukluğuna sahip insanların karılaştığı sorunlar ve mevcut tedavi yöntemleri ele alınarak okuyucuya genel bir bakış açısı kazandırılır. Standart terapinin detaylı bir şekilde tanıtımından sonra bunun adaptasyonunun neden gerekli olduğu, adapte etmenin mantığı mevcut kanıtlar ile sunulur. Daha sonra, tedavi öncesi ve başlangıç oturumlarından tedaviyi sonlandırmaya kadar olan süreç aşama aşama ele alınır. Nüksetmeyi önleme kısmına değinilir. Son olarak kapsamlı vaka örnekleri ile anlatılanların sağlam temeller üzerine oturması sağlanır.
Amacına uygun şekilde düzenlen bu kitap, diyalektik davranış terapisi adapte edilirken belirli sınırlar çizmek yerine okuyucuya geliştirilebilir bir zemin hazırlar. Bu yönüyle tedaviyi uygulamaya ve geliştirmeye teşvik eder. Açıklayıcı vaka örnekleri ve kanıtlar ile tedaviyi tüm ayrıntılarıyla sunarak farklı alanlardan okuyuculara hitap eden bu titiz çalışma özellikle alandaki uzmanlara klinik psikologlara, danışmanlara ve araştırmacılar için bir rehber niteliğinde olacak niteliktedir.

‘Gifted and talented’ has become the official way of referring to high-achieving, able school pupils. The author questions the validity and appropriateness of this label and calls for a more sophisticated and inclusive framework.

Genelde canlıların, özelde ise insanoğlunun nasıl öğrendiğine dair araştırma sonuçları her geçen gün önümüze heyecan verici bilgiler ve bulgular sunmaktadır. Bu araştırma sonuçları öğrenmede yeni stratejiler geliştirilmesinde öncülük etmektedir. "Öğrenme Psikolojisi" adlı bu kitap, alandaki en temel ve güncel araştırma bulgularını da kapsayarak eğitim, edebiyat ve tıp fakülteleri gibi değişik alanların birçok programında lisans ve lisansüstü düzeyde kullanılabilecek şekilde hazırlanmıştır.
Okuyucu merkezli olarak hazırlanan bu kitap, tüm yaşlardaki öğrenicilerin bilgi ve becerileri nasıl edindiklerini ve öğrenme sürecinde etkili olabilen inanç, motivasyon, tutum ve tavır gibi faktörleri kapsamaktadır.
Öğrenme konusunda bilgi sahibi olmak isteyen okuyucunun, temel bir psikoloji bilgisine sahip olması ön koşulu yoktur. Kitapta öğrenme kuramlarının tarihsel temellerinden başlayarak güncel öğrenme yaklaşımlarına rahatlıkla geçiş yapılabilir. Alandaki bir profesör, öğrenme ile ilgili en son araştırma bulgularına bu kitapta ulaşabilirken; üniversite eğitimine yeni başlamış bir öğrenci de öğrenme ile ilgili en temel konulara rahatlıkla erişebilir.

This study aims to investigate how effective are differentiation and enrichment of an instructional design in revealing and improving creative thinking skills of gifted and talented learners. Pre-test and post-test experiment-control group quasi-experimental design was used in this study. The subjects of the study consisted of 72 students aged 10 to 11 years, who were identified as gifted and talented and who are currently attending the same Science and Arts Center (SAC) in the province of Istanbul. When the findings were interpreted, it is possible to conclude that the instructional design that was differentiated and enriched by means of the Kolb's learning styles the Bloom's taxonomy had positive effects on revealing and improving creative thinking skills of gifted and talented learners. Based on the findings obtained within this study, we could recommend that teachers, who would like to support and develop their students' creative thinking skills, should first start with identifying the potentials, interests and learning styles of their students; then provide them with a learning environment where the students can demonstrate their creativity, defend their ideas freely, and produce unique solutions to the problems that they face; and finally employ the approaches, methods, or techniques that improve creative thinking and whose effectiveness is scientifically proven in the literature.

Parent education, one of the subheadings of family education, is to prepare children for their future lives as healthy individuals (Ministery of Family and Socail Policies, 2011). Education needs of parents varies according to the circumtances and facts of the children. Parents education plays a major role in the development of children and its positive effects will be seen in adolescence and adulthood (Melhuish et all., 2004). Kim and Choi (2002) in their meta-analysis (539 and 463 research articles) emphasizes the importance of the relationship between parents education and talent development, and draws attention to the lack of research. According to Kim and Choi (2002), many researchers disregard of “what and why” and give the results of research in qualitative values. There is almost no qualitative studies in the area. After all, research on parents’ participation and support on how and which content will be obtained with very low (Tae, 2009). According to Parent Guide of Special Education for Children Who Are Gifted in Pennsylvania University Department of Education (2010), parents participation in the education process, is critically important. Research specific to gifted education in Turkey is noticeably scarce. Little quantitative and virtually no qualitative research with or about parents of gifted children is currently available (Eriş, Seyfi and Hanoz, 2009). Saranlı and Metin (2014) emphasize that Ministry of National Education (MONE) is aware of the lack of education of parents whose children are gifted and this issue takes place in the strategic plan of MONE. Most researches emphasized the multiplier effect of the proper parents’ education on both parents and children happiness (Davaslıgil, 2004; Metin et al., 2007; Kurtulmuş, 2010).

In Turkey, education policies for gifted children have fluctuated over time with changing governments and priorities (Eriş, Seyfi and Hanoz, 2009).  Identifiction is made by RAM’s (Guidence and Research Centers) as a result of test conducted and if IQ score is over 130, a child is accepted as a gifted (the Gifted Children Commission Report, 2004). After children identified, parents begin to research what is the best for their children. In Turkey, MONE has only strategy is BİLSEM (Science and Art Education Centers) for extracurricular activities of science and arts for gifted children between 1st and 8th grade. Also, between 20 to 24 August "Education Program Towards Parents of Gifted Children Workshop" was held 2016 by the Department of the Talented Development (orgm.meb.gov.tr).  There is only official high school for gifted, İnanç Türkeş High School It is a self-contained private school admitting gifted students from around the country (Eriş, Seyfi and Hanoz, 2009). There is no pre-school education or early childhood education for gifted children. No matter what age children have been identified , there are many questions parents seek to answer.
The purpose of the study is to recognize the educational needs of parents whose primary school children identified as gifted. Focus group, one type of qualitative study, was done by volunteers of Gifted Children’s Family Platform  (UYCAP), on March, 2017. As a result of the focus group, a questionnaire was structured and will be sent to the members of the platform. After that, feedbacks will be evaluated. Qualitative and quantitative methods in the study will be used together. As a result of the study, education  topics and content will be created and educational activities will be measured.

The use of questionnaires to evaluate educational initiatives is widespread, but often problematic. This paper examines four aspects of an evaluation survey carried out with very able pupils attending out-of-school classes: ethics, design, bias and interpretation. There is a particular focus on the interpretation and analysis of pupils’ answers to open questions. Conclusions are drawn from this analysis which will help teachers and others to take a careful and critical approach to their use of questionnaires in educational evaluation.

Često se precenjuje i podcenjuje zvanje darovit. Nadareni su osobe sa posebnim potrebama i tako se i treba ponašati prema njima. Naše društvo tek počinje da gradi stav prema nadarenim učenicima. Taj stav je još nedovoljno jasan i finansijski nedovoljno podržan od strane republičkih i lokalnih organa uprave. U ovom radu predstaviću deo iz petogodišnjeg iskustva Regionalnog centra za talente "Mihajlo Pupin". Takođe, izložiću lični stav kako treba podržati izvanredno nadarene učenike.

The term giftedness has been interpreted in many different ways throughout history depending on the area(s) of expertise of a researcher, the focus of a study, and the current trends of time. Each new definition has introduced a different dimension of giftedness to produce better representations for the gifted population and it's diversity. The first portion of this paper summarizes the most common definitions of giftedness in education research and examines the evolution of the term giftedness in the classroom. The second portion of this paper highlights how researchers have characterized general traits of gifted students. Rather, during the course of this research a new definition emerged that considered diversity and uniqueness of the gifted students and of the environments that support their special talents. This definition asserts that there are two type of giftedness: active and dormant. Active giftedness manifests as outstanding potential in a defined area, influences others, promotes productivity, and active gifted students need differentiated services to maximize their potential. Dormant giftedness manifests when natural abilities shine through when its time to solve problems, produce ideas, or to be a leader. Dormant gifted students need rich, supportive learning environments to be motivated to bring forth their giftedness.

"להיות מתבגר מחונן" זו כותרת שעל פניו נראה שהיא מובנת; היא נבחרה מתוך מספר אפשרויות משום שהיא קליטה וקצרה ונראית ברורה. אולם, מתוך שלוש המלים שהיא מכילה רק "להיות" היא חד-משמעית. כאשר מדובר ב"מתבגר"  ההגדרות של המחצית השניה של המאה ה-21 שונות עד-מאוד מאלו של סוף המאה הקודמת, ואלה שונות מהגדרות שנות ה-80 וכו'. יתירה מזו: כולנו, כהורים, חווים את התבגרות ילדינו כשונה עד-מאוד מזו שלנו; הסבים שבינינו – אם ישנם – חוו את התבגרות ילדיהם כשונה משלהם. מחקר ענף על גיל ההתבגרות, שראשיתו לפני למעלה מ-100 שנה, עם צאתו לאור של ספרו המונומנטאלי של הול ((Hall, 2008 [1904], וסופו – מי ישורנו, מצביע על העובדה שכל הקשור למונח זה, החל מהתיחום הכרונולוגי – מתי מתחיל גיל זה ומתי הוא מסתיים, וכלה במשמעויות החוקיות, המשפחתיות, החברתיות והחינוכיות של "גיל ההתבגרות" בעולם בכלל ובארץ בפרט הוא נזיל, לא מוגדר היטב, תלוי במיקום הגיאוגרפי, בתרבות הספציפית של המשפחה והחברה, בדת וברמת הדתיות, כמו בגם במגדר, באג'נדה החינוכית, באימוץ תיאוריה פסיכולוגית זו או אחרת, ועוד.
בהרצאה זו נתייחס לכל המרכיבים הללו של "גיל ההתבגרות" בצורה גלובלית, תוך כדי השארת העמימות בכל הנוגע לגיל ה"מדויק" שבו אנו דנים, וזאת כדי ליצור את המכנה המשותף הרחב ביותר שיוכל לכלול את מרב הבעיות והקונפליקטים בהם נדון. ההרצאה היא בבחינת "תפריט טעימות", שכן, אין היא יכולה להקיף את כל הבעיות האופייניות למחונן המתבגר ולפיכך אין היא כמובן מתיימרת לתת להן מענה. עם זאת, בכוונתי לגעת במספר רב ככל האפשר של נושאים הרלבנטיים להורים של מתבגרים מחוננים, הורים שבנוסף על "תחלואי גיל ההתבגרות", עליהם מתלוננים מרבית ההורים לנערים ולנערות בגיל זה, נתקלים בבעיות מיוחדות, כאלה הנובעות ממחוננותם של ילדיהם, ואשר לא ניתן להן מענה ולו באחת ממסגרות הלימוד או החברה אשר אליהם שייכות משפחות המחוננים.
בנוסף לגורמים החוץ-משפחתיים המאפיינים את הנער והנערה המתבגרים קיימים גם גורמים המאפיינים חברות שונות, דתות שונות, מדינות שונות וכמובן – תרבויות שונות. המערכת הכללית זו הכוללת את המצב הכלכלי והחברתי, כמו גם הרגשי-משפחתי הספציפי למשפחה, חשובים עד מאוד בבניית העמידות של הילד, זו העוזרת ומאפשרת לו לעבור את גיל ההתבגרות בהצלחה לקראת האתגרים הנכונים לו כמבוגר. כפי שמסכמים רנטי ועמיתים (Renati et al., 2016,), ללא גישה לאווירה בריאה ילד או נער עלול לאמץ דפוסי התנהגות ואסטרטגיות שיחבלו במצב הרווחה הגופני, החברתי והרגשי שלו.

The current study explored the influence of birth order and family size on academic achievement, divergent thinking (DT), and problem finding (PF) with a sample of 156 gifted male and female Arab students (M= 12.21 years, SD= 1.75). Regarding academic achievement, it was found that first-borns possessed higher grade point averages (GPAs) than did other-born children. Family size was also related to academic achievement-participants from smaller-sized families had significantly higher GPAs compared with gifted students from middle-and large-sized families. As for the influence of birth order and family size on both DT and PF, a multivariate analysis of variance showed significant differences for birth order and the interaction between birth order and family size in the originality dimension of PF. Non-significant differences were found concerning family size. The follow-up analyses of variance showed that later-born gifted students scored higher than first-, second-, third-, and fourth-born children in PF originality. Later-born gifted students who scored higher on originality were from smaller families. No significant influences for birth order and family size were found concerning fluency for both DT and PF as well as DT originality. Limitations and future directions are discussed.

Toplumsal etkileşimin olduğu her yerde, anlaşmazlıkların olması doğal ve kaçınılmazdır. Kişiler, gruplar ve toplumlar arası anlaşmazlıklar; doğru bir biçimde yönetildiğinde gelişimin, ilerlemenin, dönüşümün, barışın ve bütünleşmenin hem enerji kaynağı hem de motoru olabilmektir. Ancak, anlaşmazlıklar yanlış ve yıkıcı yaklaşımlarla yönetildiğinde ise; yıkımın, şiddetin, zulmün ve acının kaynağına dönüşmektedir.

Anlaşmazlıkları ortadan kaldırma, farklılığı ortadan kaldırmaktadır. Doğa ve insanlık, farklılığı ve çoklığı kabul etmeyi ve anlamayı gerektirir. Folger tarafından geliştirilen "dönüşümsel arabuluculuk modeli" ülkemizde, her sene mahkemelere taşınan yüz binlerce anlaşmazlığı, çekişmeyi ve ayrışmayı yüz yüze müzakere ederek yapıcı ve barışçıl olarak çözme kapasitesini güçlendirmek için bir fırsat ve araç olacaktır. Cezalandırıcı adalet anlayışından, onarıcı adalet anlayışına dönme çabalarına ışık tutacaktır.

Bu eser,içerdiği alternatif paradigma çerçevesinde hukuk sistemimize yeni giren arabuluculuk modelinin doğru ve amacına uygun kullanılması için de referans olacak anlamlı ve önemli bir eserdir. How smartness is defined within schools contributes to low academic achievement by poor and racial/ethnic minority students. Using Holland et al.
s (1998) [Holland, D., Lachicotte, W., Skinner, D., & Cain, C. (Eds.) (1998). Identity and agency in cultural worlds. Cambridge, MA: Harvard University Press.] concept of ‘‘figured worlds,’’ this paper explores the ‘‘figuring’’ of smartness through the perspectives of marginalized youth. The youth made key distinctions between being book smart vs. street smart. This
distinction is a direct challenge by the youth to the dominant discourse of smartness or ‘‘book smarts’’ as it operates in schools. To the youth, ‘‘street smarts’’ are more important because they are connected to being able to maneuver through structures in their lives such as poverty, the police, street culture, and abusive ‘‘others.’’ This distinction is key because street smarts stress agency in countering social structures whereas, for many of the youth, book smarts represented those structures, such as receiving a high school diploma. Implications for schools and pedagogy are discussed.

This study used the bibliographic scattering analysis to explore the scientific publications trends on gifted individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) over the past 23 years. The study examined the applicability and appropriateness of Bradford’s and Lotka’s laws of scattering to measure the impact factors of journals, institutions, countries, researchers, and personal publications on the area of research. After examining 95 research papers published in 55 Social Sciences Citation Indexed (SSCI) journals from 1998 to 2020. The rank list was prepared to identify the core journals in education. The most frequent venues of journals in descending order of times cited are, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society B-Biological Science (USA) with 33.8% of citation, followed by the Journal of Autism and
Developmental Disorders (USA) with 10.3% of citation and Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (USA) with 8.2% of citations. The top four categories of research were psychology with 37.13% of publications, followed by psychiatry (13.77%), neurosciences and neurology (11.38%), and education (8.38%). The study found that Asperger syndrome (AS) is still used in academic studies, even after it was immersed in the ASD by DSM-5 criteria. The findings and limitations were presented and discussed.

Formal gifted education started in 1973 when the Israeli Ministry of Education opened the first two classes for the gifted, functioning 6 days a week: a grade 3 class in Tel Aviv and a grade 4 class in Haifa, as well as the first enrichment program in Jerusalem. In the next four decades only 3 more elementary schools had gifted classes – altogether three schools had grade 3-6 classes, one – grade 4-6 and one grade 3-8. In the 2015/16 school years two more schools had gifted classes, one had grade 3 and 4 and the other just grade 3 classes for the gifted (Special classes in elementary schools, 2016). In addition, in the 2015/6 school year 56 enrichment program from the gifted operated in the Jewish and in the Arab sectors (38 and 18 respectively) (Enrichment programs for the gifted, 2016)
In Israel the government provides generously for the gifted (e.g. Freeman, 2002). Furthermore, a later report (Freeman et al, 2010) “found that of all surveyed countries only Israel provided gifted education for all children, Jewish and Arab and had a special department for gifted children in the ministry of education” (David, 2017). This means that despite the full coverage of identification results in identifying about 5000 students every year as “gifted” or “excelling” only about 125 – 0.25% – have had the opportunity to enroll in a gifted class operating 6 days a week. In 2015, 15 schools had gifted junior high school classes – all in the Jewish sector (Special classes in junior high schools, 2015). Fifteen Jewish high schools as well as three Arab schools also had gifted classes (Special classes in high schools, 2015).
I shall hereby describe the process of diagnosing of giftedness in Israel, give a short summary of all the main existing programs for schooling of the gifted, and conclude with a critique of this system which might be most useful for a growing up system, such as the future Swiss gifted education.

This thesis argues that foreign and second language teaching productivity can only reach its proper potential when it is accorded priority, second only to language learner productivity, amongst the many competing productivities which are always asserted by stakeholders in educational institutions.

A theoretical foundation for the research is established by examining the historical concept of productivity, and its more recent manifestation as knowledge worker productivity, especially as applied to teachers.

The empirical basis of the thesis is sourced from a chronological series of twenty biographical case studies in language teaching venues in Australia, New Zealand, Oceania and East Asia. The biographical case study methodology, although rare in applied linguistics, is justified by reference to its wide and growing application in other fields of qualitative research. The case studies are analysed for common patterns of productivity, as well as teaching productivity inhibition or failure.

It was affirmed across all of the case studies without exception that external parties could not control or even reliably predict what individual students might learn, and how well, from instances of instructed language teaching. This was regardless of the power of institutional players, external resources, curriculums or the teacher. Student belief in the immediate value of what was to be learned in a given lesson, and personal confidence in an ability to learn it were the most critical factors.

Teaching productivity was found to turn, ultimately, on the teacher's ability to influence the probability of student learning. The teacher could best influence learning probability by enhancing student motivation. The most effective environments for teaching productivity were seen to be those where the teacher was professionally equipped and politically enabled to exercise judgements which maximized opportunities for student language learning productivity. A negotiated pact concerning both curriculum and method often proved effective, especially with mature students, and at times required some deception of institutional authorities.

Empirically, the encouragement of reciprocal learning relationships between teacher and students was found to be powerfully enabling for language teaching productivity in the case studies.

In many venues a small but effective minority of 'intimate learners' were also able to leverage their language learning productivity by forging more personal relationships with the teacher.

The wider cultural paradigm within each of the countries represented in the case studies sanctioned different paths and limitations for both language learners and teachers, and hence was seen to influence teaching productivity in critical ways. It was found that under certain conditions, notably (but not exclusively) those prevailing in many East Asian educational institutions, that certification of foreign language skills had a higher cultural, employment and monetary value than the actual ability to exercise foreign language skills.

A negative influence on teacher productivity in many of the case studies was an ignorance about language learning and teaching amongst institutional players. The disregard of language teacher professionalism was fed by a belief that being able to speak a language was all that was necessary to teach it, and reinforced by misinterpreting the meaning of test results. Related to this, an imbalance of power relationships between teachers or students with other institutional interests was consistently found to interfere with teaching and learning productivities. Overall, the model of productivity understood in institutions instanced by the case studies tended to reflect a 19th Century economic paradigm of capital, raw materials (students) and labour (dispensable classroom workers) rather than any more sophisticated grasp of knowledge worker productivity.

It was demonstrated in the context of the case studies that productivity, and in particular knowledge worker productivity, is a complex concept whose facets require detailed analysis to arrive at a proper understanding of the role that foreign and second language teachers play in educational institutions.

Teachers' perceptions of students impact their decision on how they practice instruction in their classrooms. The issue of how to respond to the gifted students' various academic needs within academically diverse classrooms is one of the central challenges of teaching. The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions of undergraduate-elementary education majors at a major Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member country's university toward gifted students. Participants varied in their year of the program as well as in their specialization. Gifted education–specific items of the Survey of Practices with Students of Varying Needs were used. The results indicated a significant difference between the perceptions of respondents. The implications of the study concerning to meet the educational needs of gifted elementary students and their teachers were discussed.

Creative is an important trait in improving all aspects of our lives; yet, because it cannot be easily quantified, it is given too little attention in our schools.  Creativity is a form of problem solving that relies on being able to first identify problems then redefine them.  Some personal traits or characteristics are more amenable to creativity than others; however, all can improve their ability to think creativity through the use of creative thinking skills and by understanding the process of creativity.

Students who are both gifted, and learning disabled, face challenges that most of their peers do not. Their disabilities and their strengths are often overlooked. Teachers may only focus on a student's weakness and fail to see high intelligence, or the giftedness may mask the disability and cause the child to appear average. Even when they are correctly identified, gifted and learning disabled students' social, emotional, and intellectual needs are often overlooked in the effort to remediate their disability. These students must be correctly identified as being gifted and having a learning disability in order for their needs to be adequately met. Effective programming for gifted and learning disabled students also includes social and emotional support, as well as interventions which focus on strengths, rather than weaknesses. These students will meet their potential only when their needs are appropriately met. REVIEW OF LITERATURE This paper reviewed literature which addressed the characteristics and needs of students who are gifted and learning disabled. A discussion of the academic needs as well as the social and emotional needs of these students was included. Gifted and learning disabled students' social, emotional and intellectual needs are often overlooked in the effort to remediate their disability. Identification of these students and the challenges associated with it were examined. Often, a student's giftedness, or their learning disability, or both, remain undiagnosed, and these students do not receive appropriate interventions. Even when they are identified, it is common for the learning disability to be the only need that is acknowledged. These students must be correctly identified, both for their giftedness and for their learning disability, in order for their unique needs to be adequately met. Effective programming for gifted and learning disabled students includes social and emotional support, and interventions which focus on strengths rather than weaknesses. Only when their needs are appropriately met will these students meet their potential.

The popular notion of creativity in schools is that of the creative art student or the creative writer, yet creativity can be utilised as a particular way of thinking with regards to producing information and learning at school which can be applicable across curriculum areas. Many traits and characteristics of gifted students overlap those of creative students as identified in the literature. This paper includes examples of techniques teachers can employ in developing creativity within their classroom, with a particular focus on visual arts using The Dynamic Creativity Process Model. This model is designed to be used across the curriculum as a holistic approach to enhancing creative and the artistic potential of gifted students. The model supports student learning using divergent and convergent thinking and encourages higher-order thinking, integration, intuition and evaluation.

This paper presents findings from two separate research projects conducted between 2012 and 2015, which together examined the experiences of 19 twice exceptional children. The first study used a mixed methods approach with eleven students to investigate their educational experiences through quantitative instruments and in-depth interviews. The second study used narrative case study inquiry methods to elicit eight children's in-school and out-of-school experiences of being twice exceptional, using the unique method of interviewing the children in their own home settings. Relatively little is known about the educational experiences of twice exceptional children, particularly in Australia, and how their experiences may contribute to our understanding of individual needs. Findings across both studies point to twice exceptional children's insights about their giftedness and their disability. These insights reflect feelings of being different to their peers, issues with interpersonal relationships; such as bullying and limited understanding from others. Many of these experiences increased stress and anxiety levels, which were further exacerbated by some educators' frequent focus on disability rather than ability. These negative experiences were often ameliorated by out-of-school support, personal interests, and both parental and self-advocacy. Together, the findings across these two studies provide new understandings about these children's experiences.

University of the Incarnate Word ADHD: The Difficulties of Diagnosis
The purpose of this paper is to look at the factors that make can make the accuracy of an ADHD diagnosis difficult to be sure of. This paper will briefly touch on the history and predominance of the condition. The importance of considering comorbid conditions will be discussed along with alternate situations which may present as ADHD to the untrained observer.
