A sensor is a device which detects or measures a physical property and records, indicates or otherwise responds to it. Civionics is a special field of study which is a combination of Civil and Electronics. Hard Infrastructures corresponds to all types of infrastructures like-Buildings, Bridges, Industries, and Heritage Infrastructure etc. Some absolutes of structure defines as long as structures will keep on getting build, failures will keep occurring and it will keep the forensics busy for a long time. Some of primary causes of structural failure includes deferred maintenance, overloading, design flaws, material failures or combination of above. This fear of failure will put stakeholders to take action and one such action is application of sensor based civionics technologies.

ABSTRACT
This work aims at developing a generic and anisotropic point error model, which is capable of computing magnitude and
direction of a priori random errors, described in the form of error ellipsoids for each individual point of the cloud. The
direct TLS observations are the range (ρ), vertical (α) and horizontal (θ) angles, each of which is in fact associated with a
priori precision value. A practical methodology was designed and performed in real-world test environments to
determine these precision values. The methodology has two experimental parts. The first part is a static and repetitive
measurement configuration for the determination of a priori precisions of the vertical (𝜎𝛼) and horizontal (𝜎𝜃) angles. The
second part is the measurement of a test stand which contains four plates in white, light grey, dark grey and black colors,
for the determination of a priori precisions of the range observations (𝜎𝜌). The test stand measurement is performed in a
recursive manner so that sensor-to-object distance, incidence angle and surface reflectivity are parameterized. The
experiment was conducted with three TLSs, namely Faro Focus 3D X330, Riegl VZ400 and Z+F 5010x in the same
location and atmospheric conditions. This procedure was followed by the computation of error ellipsoids of each point
using the law of variance-covariance propagation. The direction and size of the error ellipsoids were computed by the
principal components transformation. Validation of the proposed error model was performed in real world scenarios,
which revealed feasibility of the model.

The complex was built in an area not far from the Real Palace in Milan, the main imperial estate, in what once was a hunting haunt affording beautiful views near Monza, a small yet important trading centre. With its Gardens and the Park (later enlarged on Canonica's design), the great majestic Villa dominated the area, thanks also to the rational constructive rigour and the clear functionality with which it was built and the noble and sober elegance. An algorithm for least squares matching of overlapping 3D surfaces is presented. It estimates the transformation parameters between two or more fully 3D surfaces, using the Generalized Gauss-Markoff model, minimizing the sum of squares of the Euclidean distances between the surfaces. The boat-based, mobile mapping system (BoMMS) with a laser scanner allows the derivation of detailed riverine topographical data for fluvial applications. Combined with data acquisition from static terrestrial LiDAR (light detection and range) or mobile terrestrial LiDAR on the ground, boat-based laser scanning enables a totally new field mapping approach for fluvial studies. The BoMMS approach is an extremely rapid methodology for surveying riverine topography, taking only 85 min to survey a reach approximately 6 km in length. The BoMMS approach also allowed an effective survey angle for deep river banks, which is difficult to achieve with aerial or static terrestrial LiDAR. Further, this paper demonstrates the three-dimensional mapping of a point-bar and its detailed morphology. Compared with the BoMMS surface, approximately, 80% and 96% of the terrestrial LiDAR points showed a height deviation of less than 2 cm and 5 cm, respectively, with an overall standard deviation of ± 2·7 cm. This level of accuracy and rapidity of data capture enables the mapping of post-flood deposition directly after a flood event without an extensive time lag. Additionally, the improved object characterisation may allow for better 3D mapping of the point bar and other riverrine features. However, the shadow effect of the BoMMS survey in point bar mapping should be removed by additional LiDAR data to acquire entire riverine topography. The approach demonstrated allowed a large reach to be surveyed compared with static terrestrial LiDAR and increased the spatial limit of survey towards aerial LiDAR, but it maintains the same or even better temporal resolution as static terrestrial LiDAR. With the rapid advancement of laser scanning and photogrammetry technologies, frequent geometric data collection at construction sites by contractors has been increased for the purpose of improving constructability, productivity, and onsite safety. However, the conventional static laser scanning method suffers from operational limitations due to the presence of many occlusions commonly found in a typical construction site. Obtaining a complete scan of a construction site without information loss requires that laser scans are obtained from multiple scanning locations around the site, which also necessitates extra work for registering each scanned point cloud. As an alternate solution to this problem, this paper introduces an autonomous mobile robot which navigates a scan site based on a continuously updated point cloud map. This mobile robot system utilizes the 2D Hector Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) technique to estimate real-time positions and orientations of the robot in the x-y plane. Then, the 2D localization information is used to create 3D point clouds of unknown environments in real time to determine its navigation paths as a pre-scanning process. The advantage of this framework is the ability to determine the optimal scan position and scan angle to reduce the scanning time and effort for gathering high resolution point cloud data in real-time. The mobile robot system is able to capture survey-quality RGB-mapped point cloud data, and automatically register the scans for geometric reconstruction of the site. The performance of the overall system was tested in an indoor environment and validated with promising results.

In questo contributo sono descritti i principali aspetti di un articolato progetto di ricerca portato avanti dai laboratori CAILab e V-lab della Seconda Facolta di Ingegneria dell’Universita di Bologna. Il progetto, tuttora in fase di sviluppo, e basato sul rilievo tridimensionale ad alta precisione, mediante diverse tecnologie a scansione laser, di una scultura di Antonio Canova, l’Ebe conservata a Forli. Nella prima parte dell’articolo ci occuperemo della fase di rilievo, mentre nella seconda degli sviluppi applicativi. Canova’s Ebe: digital model and application developments - 1st part In this paper the main aspects of a complex research project, performed by the CAILab and V-lab laboratories of the Second Engineering Faculty of the Bologna University, are described. This project is being developed exploiting some different laser scanning technologies, with the goal to obtain a 3D survey of the sculpture called Ebe of Antonio Canova that is conserved in Forli.
