To compare preparedness for hospital practice between graduates from a problem-based, graduate-entry medical program and those from other programs (undergraduate problem-based and traditional). Survey of graduates (by mailed questionnaire) and organisers of clinical training (by semistructured interview); results were compared with published results of surveys of graduates from other programs. All graduates of the first intake of the University of Sydney graduate-entry medical program were surveyed at the end of their first intern year (2001), along with the director of clinical training or intern manager at each of the New South Wales hospitals that employed the graduates. The concept of entrepreneurship is an important factor for increasing economic growth in Indonesia. Moslempreneur is an actor in entrepreneurship, who has and shows an identity with a distinctive personality and characteristics as a Moslem, who is able to carry out Islamic business ethics. Business competition in the global era demands a competitive advantage. The phenomenon that arose from the formation of a university graduate's entrepreneurship is laymen. The construction of entrepreneurship from moslem workers who have a professional background and feel bored in the organization can increase the amount of entrepreneur effectively. This study used a behavioral and organizational approach in forming professional moslempreneurs, so this study examined individual, organization, market factor, and professional skills that affect moslempreneur intention and behavior by using the Structural Equation Model (SEM) in executing data analysis on this quantitative research. In response to new project procurement methods and growing complexity in construction industry, new disciplines of building professional have been added to the traditionally recognized practices. The respective characteristics and roles of different disciplines in construction industry are becoming less clear cut. In recent decades, there is also a concern with their integrity in terms of professional value and competence in their specialized skills. Specialism of different disciplines and working relationships among them are not so easily defined. Crossing boundary practice among different disciplines of building professionals is becoming obvious. This paper, based on a research study carried out in 1998, aims to investigate these phenomena and develop anticipating actions. The result suggested that building professionals should critically re-examine their professional skill in their traditional domains. It warrants an overall evaluation to see whether the traditional value of professionalism and social status of professionals can be sustained in today’s construction industry. In recognizing crossing boundary practice, the study endorses the importance of inter-professional appreciation and collaboration that should form an integral part of professional education and training.

This study develops a model for students and graduates of Soft Skills, Hard Skills, and Competitiveness (SHC) and seeks user validation after the development process. The development process uses the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) model. A quantitative survey using questionnaires and descriptive quantitative analysis was applied in obtaining user validation as the study objective. The development results validated the students' SHC Development model, which has 3 main phases, including Input, Process and Output. Background
Holistic competencies comprise various holistic skills (e.g., communication) and positive values and attitudes (e.g., empathy). There have been increasing efforts worldwide to foster students' holistic competency development within engineering curricula. While recent studies indicate a positive shift, it remains unclear whether such efforts are driven by only a handful of individuals or more widely supported by systemic changes to constructively align competency development with the engineering curriculum.

Purpose/Hypothesis
This study investigates the extent to which endeavors to promote holistic competency development in Hong Kong's tertiary engineering education are supported by a broader, constructively aligned curricular system. The three key components of constructive alignment developed by Biggs in 2003—intended outcomes, teaching activities, and assessment—form the conceptual framework guiding this study.

Design/Method
This study conducted document analysis of 245 engineering courses and interviews with five engineering instructors from three Hong Kong universities.

Results
Only 34 of 245 syllabi analyzed incorporated holistic competencies in their intended outcomes. These outcomes were associated with both traditional and experiential pedagogies but were not matched with direct or explicit assessments. Data show that program leaders' conceptions of holistic competencies, instructor's limited capabilities, and issues assessing competencies pose challenges to constructive alignment.

Conclusions
Challenges for achieving constructive alignment and recommendations for addressing them are discussed. Our findings highlight the need to train all levels of engineering instructors in student holistic competency development, to acquaint instructors with industrial experiences and expectations, to develop top-down and bottom-up reforms to refine engineering curricula, and to provide increased recognition for teaching quality and efforts.

In English for Specific Purposes, one of the challenges is to transform teaching and learning into a process, which focuses on the development of professional skills, enables students to become successful learners of the target language, and makes them more aware of the local and global environments. This paper aims to analyse key challenges that teachers and learners face in the classrooms and suggest a way of integrating global issues into the process of development of professional soft and hard skills. The paper studies the existing ESP literature in terms of presence of global issues, explores the perceptions of global issues among university students in Ukraine, outlines the correlation between professional skills and global competence. The findings suggest that there are numerous advantages of introducing materials based on global issues into the teaching process as it has synergetic effect of fusing professional skills, soft skills and global competence. The paper concludes that this fusion improves the skill set of a future professional and has a positive impact on the quality of higher education in general.

This study aimed to identify the portions of teaching materials for English classes in Iran's high schools. The efficiency of these materials was evaluated by (a) eliciting the teachers' perception of the materials to identify their distribution portions and (b) studying the teachers' satisfaction to identify whether the materials were successful to develop the EFL teachers' knowledge and skills for real classes. Participants were 94 in-service teachers. Two questionnaires elicited their perception and satisfaction of the programs. Findings indicated the programs focus strongly on grammar, reading, vocabulary, and pronunciation and weakly on speaking, writing, and listening. Recent studies have tried to transpose the results of the anthropology of science and techniques to architecture. They have pointed out that architectural projects tend to “drift” as, during the phase of design, the architect’s initial choices are modified owing to formerly unknown or neglected factors. Further research has forced us to recognize that this phase entails negotiations, and to admit that professional skills, too, can change. But some of these studies – pushing results too far – have come up with questionable conclusions. The aforementioned drift does not turn a project into a wholly unpredictable process; and the emphasis laid on negotiations may hide other important social relations, such as constraints or the communication of information. Furthermore, skills are not arbitrarily interchangeable. The failure of the proposed transposition becomes even clearer by comparing architecture and industrial design. Building is a single act of production at a definite site that has its own constraints. These foreseeable constraints explain why design remains the hard core of the architect’s professional expertise, despite the increasing success of negotiated activities.

À la suite des travaux récents qui envisagent de transposer à l’architecture les résultats de l’anthropologie des sciences et techniques, on doit admettre l’existence de la dérive et d’une part de négociation dans la conception, et le caractère révisable des compétences professionnelles. Mais, en maximalisant ces conclusions, certains travaux parviennent à des résultats discutables. La dérive ne fait pas du projet un phénomène totalement imprévisible ; l’accent mis sur la négociation peut occulter d’autres rapports sociaux, comme la contrainte ou la communication d’informations ; les compétences des acteurs ne sont pas interchangeables à merci. L’échec de la transposition est ensuite explicité par une comparaison des situations de conception en architecture et dans l’industrie. Le fait que le bâtiment soit une production unique et située le soumet à des contraintes de site spécifiques. Connaissables ex ante, ces contraintes expliquent pourquoi la conception demeure le noyau dur de l’expertise professionnelle de l’architecte, et ce, en dépit du succès croissant rencontré par les activités négociées.

This paper is outlining the future development trends of engineering education in
Finland. It is based on a background study about future engineering education and
working life requirements, a survey about current state of engineering education from
the students’ perspective in two different universities, and on theme interviews in one of
the universities. The objective was to find out how well CDIO approach [1] would fit to
serve the education development needs of the universities involved. The universities in
question were University of Turku [UTU] which is the second largest multidisciplinary
university in Finland and the largest one with engineering education and Aalto
University [Aalto] that was founded in 2010 by merging three universities together:
Helsinki University of Technology, Helsinki School of Economics, and the University of
Art and Design in Helsinki.
It looks very important for both universities studied in this paper to do systematic
curriculum development. In UTU’s case it will be the implementation of CDIO
Introduction to Engineering and Capstone project courses and continue working with
the CDIO platform. Also Aalto has decided to use CDIO as a mind-set in the
development of bachelor programs in engineering, although there is not that strong
commitment than in UTU.

The present work is the second part of a research project which is currently in the stage of exploration. The project in the first part aims at exploring the education experience and in the second part the cultural and work experience of mexican pre-graduate students of engineering and natural sciences abroad seen from their perspective during and after their one year stay in Germany. Based on a document analysis of 15 reports in writing the present research aims at giving answers to questions as the following: Which modification of awareness observe the students in the own academic culture? How describe students their education and training process? How is evaluated the mobility program and stay for professional future? The special interest of this exploratory research work is focused on case studies in which statements of 10 students give a particular insight into the training process of professional skills and job specific attitudes. Moreover this work intends to describe students expectations when coming back, about the types of situations and circumstances they found themselves confronted with their educational training environment in Mexico. We hope to be able to contribute to improve educational processes, and to make findings from the point of view of its main actors as well as to support academic decision making the moment when students come back from academic exchange programs.

The Built Environment (BE) is a physical product of inputs from various professional fields and disciplines. Graduates from such fields were expected to have possessed the requisite skills leading to employment. Employability skills are very vital in today’s labor market especially within the BE. These skills include basic skills, core skills, fundamental skills, soft skills and transferable skills etc., which enables them work within the BE under their experienced colleagues. However, such skills were in shortage, often inadequate and do not guarantee employment etc. Unemployment especially among graduates is worrisome to the Nigerian government and may be caused by two aspects: oversupply of graduates in the job market, and the inability of graduates to meet the skills needed by the industry. The research aim of this Paper is to identify and assess the impact of some factors that determine the employability of graduates in BE related fields and disciplines in Nigeria. Reviewed literatures were used to identify the factors which forms the main body of the questionnaire, structured using Likert scale and manually distributed to various experienced professionals. The result shows that graduates with employability skills who distinguish themselves during job interview/test were perceived as employable by the various organizations/firms/ companies operating in the BE; during construction boom will have better chances of getting employed in BE related professions.
