SPSS Programming

This course introduces students to the scientific approach to social studies. Weekly classes and tutorials are geared toward helping the students gain a basic understanding of systematic social inquiry. In the lectures, students learn about the fundamentals of quantitative research, and accustom to strategies for data analysis, hypothesis testing, and statistical inference. Each lecture is followed by a computer lab session, where students put their knowledge to practice, and perform tasks that revolve around visualizing data, and conducting statistical analyses.

The productivity performance of the public sector in Malaysia had been declined from 3.78% in the year 2008 to 1.14% in the year 2009. Furthermore, Malaysia’s labor market efficiency have been dropped from rank 25th in year 2013 from rank 24th in 2012.  Hence, this study is to determine the significant factors affecting job performance among the employees of public sector, in particular employees at Setiausaha Kerajaan Negeri Sembilan (SUKNS) at Wisma Negeri, Negeri Sembilan. A total of 170 questionnaires collected and analysed using descriptive statistics, reliability test, regression assumption test and factor analysis. There are only five components/dimensions are extracted in this study. They are religiosity, work experiences, technology advancement, stress level and workload. For further analysis, principal component analysis is used to identify number of factors that can be used to explain job performance. Next, multiple regression analysis is used using five dimensions and  revealed that only stress level, work experience and technology are the most important factors that affecting job performance of the employees SUKNS. Therefore, to increase job performance of public workers, the government needs to educate their workers to manage their stress level well apart from managing their work experiences and managing new technology.

Using the paradigm of Solomon Asch’s 1946 study entitled ‘Forming Impressions of Personality, where the influence of data presentation on the formation of an impression of personality was studied. By presenting six (6) characteristics in a Favorable to Unfavorable (F-U) order for the first group and Unfavorable to Favorable (U-F) order in the second group, primacy and recency effect were investigated. There were forty (40) participants in total whom were Assumption College students under different year levels and courses with an exception of Psychology students. Twenty (20) participants were randomly grouped for F-U and the other half for U-F. Wherein results report a p-value of 0.035, indicating that people form impressions on personality based on priming words.

Multikolinearitas adalah sebuah situasi yang menunjukkan adanya korelasi atau hubungan kuat antara dua variabel bebas atau lebih dalam sebuah model regresi berganda. Model regresi yang dimaksud dalam hal ini antara lain: regresi linear, regresi logistik, regresi data panel dan cox regression.

Depression is one of the most common mental disorders in the world and friends is common to be a person's social support. This study searches the relationship between the two variables mentioned. There were multiple tests done to get the relationship. Further results are found in the later part of the paper.

Uji Heteroskedastisitas merupakan bagian dari uji asumsi klasik dalam analisis regresi yang bertujuan untuk menguji apakah dalam model regresi terjadi ketidaksamaan variance (variasi) dari nilai residual satu pengamatan ke pengamatan yang lain. Jika variance dari nilai residual satu pengamatan ke pengamatan lain bersifat tetap, maka disebut homoskedastisitas, namun jika variance dari nilai residual satu pengamatan ke pengamatan lain berbeda maka disebut heteroskedastisitas.

SPSS Statistics is a software package used for statistical analysis. Long produced by SPSS Inc., it was acquired by IBM in 2009. The current versions (2014) are officially named IBM SPSS Statistics. Companion products in the same family are used for survey authoring and deployment (IBM SPSS Data Collection), data mining (IBM SPSS Modeler), text analytics, and collaboration and deployment (batch and automated scoring services).

Abstrak dalam sebuah penelitian penting sekali kita sebagai peenliti untuk tahu bagaimana cara menyajikan data yang telah kita dapat dari lapangan atau dari proses penelitian. Penyajian data harusnya mudah dimengerti oleh pembaca, dibuat se lengkap mungkin tentang data apa yang ignin kita sampaikan. Penyajian data dapat dilakukan dengan MS Excel dan SPSS. Di Aplikasi Excel mungkin sudah bnayak yang mengetahuinya. Penyajian data disajikan dengan table, tulisan dan grafik. Penyajian data dilakukan setelah di temukannya data sehingga dapat dikelola. Setiap peneliti akan menyajikan data yang didapatkan nya dari proses observasi, wawancara, kuesioner maupun dokumentasi. Prinsip dasar nya adalah komunikaitf, lengkap dalam arti data yang disajikan dapat dimengerti dan tidak membosankan. (Sugiyono, 2017, p. 29) Dalam penyajian data agar lebih mudah untuk dimengerti maka data dapat di saji kan dengan Ms Excel: 1. Angka angka ringkasan atau Summary figure, Contohnya seperti jumlah penduduk rata rata, rata-rata konsumsi daging per kapita. Namun pada contoh tersebut data yang lain belum terlihat seperti pada daging apa yang dikonsumsi, masih belum terlihat. Namun untuk menanggulangi nya dapat dilakukan dengan penyajian data table dan grafik. (Rasyad, 2005, p. 15)

The objective of this research was to determine the test-retest reliability of Psychographic self-evaluation questionnaire designed for forming teams of Software Engineering students for undertaking the final year projects. The participants (n=100) of this research received the questionnaire whilst seated during a class lecture; respondents were retested on the same questionnaire 7 weeks later. The participants were the students of semester 7 that had started their final year project in Jan 2019. Cohen's kappa value was computed for 27 questions (selected using the factor analysis from out of 128 total questions), responses of which were recoded into trichotomies variables. Response rate was 100% for both the test and retest questionnaire. For the 27 individual questionnaire items, the range of k value was 0.65-0.90 (P < 0.01). The test-retest reliability of individual items was found to be high, suggesting that responses of the students were stable over the brief period of time on Psychographic self-evaluation questionnaire.

The primary problem is that employee disengagement results in decreased employee job satisfaction (EJS), as manifested by employee tardiness, turnover, and absenteeism, known as counterproductive work behaviors (CWB); which cost U.S. organizations $500-600 billion annually. The purpose of this quantitative, causal-comparative study was to compare EJS levels from three employee contact frequency intervals (i.e., low, middle, or high) with workplace chaplains. The researcher administered the Job Satisfaction Survey (JSS) online and collected
data from individuals who worked for organizations in the U.S. that employed chaplains. This 36-item survey measured EJS with a six-point Likert scale. The researcher downloaded and cleaned the data, resulting in a sample of 70, and performed exploratory factor analysis (EFA) to
determine how the dataset met the constructs of Spector’s job satisfaction theory as identified by the JSS. The researcher eliminated 29 survey items that factor loaded improperly, and the remaining seven items produced three factors, which are linked to five of Spector’s job facets (i.e., pay, promotion, operating conditions, fringe benefits, and nature of the work). The three factors resembled Herzberg’s hygiene factors and did not affect EJS directly because they were not motivators. The study’s quantitative research question reinforced the statement of the problem; however, the dataset failed to reject the H0 because the frequency level of employee contact with the chaplain might be a spurious relationship, rather than a direct relationship. The researcher did not find a statistically significant relationship between employee frequency of contact with the workplace chaplain and EJS. A recommendation for practice would be to interview chaplains about their perceptions of employee motivation and their role(s) concerning EJS. A recommendation for future research would be a narrower focus, asking survey questions concerning the chaplains’ role(s), and identifying which role(s) extended to EJS.

The paper reports on both methodological and substantive findings. It presents a method for generating simplified representations for regional urban populations, their geographical sub-populations and communities. the method generates greatly simplified high-resolution socio-economic profiles of populated geographical areas from complex large census data sets.

Resumen El análisis discriminante es un método estadístico a través del cual se busca conocer qué variables, medidas en objetos o individuos, explican mejor la atribución de la diferencia de los grupos a los cuales pertenecen dichos objetos o individuos. Es una técnica que nos permite comprobar hasta qué punto las variables independientes consideradas en la investigación clasifican correctamente a los sujetos u objetos. Se muestran y explican los principales elementos que se relacionan con el procedimiento para llevar a cabo el análisis discriminante y su aplicación utilizando el paquete estadístico SPSS, versión 18, para el desarrollo del modelo estadístico, las condiciones para la aplicación del análisis, la estimación e interpretación de las funciones discriminantes, los métodos de clasificación y la validación de los resultados.

Nowadays, the often large amounts of data that are collected in a psychological experiment are processed almost exclusively with the help of computers.  The so-called 'languages' represent the interface between man and machine, with which the instructions for data processing are created and communicated to the computer.  The form of these languages ​​is adapted to natural language to varying degrees, so that an understandable way of communication between man and machine is guaranteed.  In such systems, a large number of so-called 'single-purpose programs', such as those that can be created with programming languages, are combined.  These are designed for a specific task, for example for data management (e.g.: dBase) or, as is of interest here, for statistical data collection and evaluation.  The command language is relatively simple, easy to learn and does not require extensive computer science knowledge.  Well-known statistical 'program packages' are, for example, SAS, P-STAT, CSS/STATISTICA, or SPSS.

Die Verarbeitung der oftmals großen Datenmengen, die in einem psychologischen Experiment erhoben werden, erfolgt heutzutage nahezu ausschließlich mit Hilfe von Computern. Die Schnittstelle zwischen Mensch und Maschine stellen die sogenannten ‘Sprachen’ dar, mit welchen die Instruktionen zur Datenverarbeitung erstellt und dem Computer mitgeteilt werden. Die Form dieser Sprachen ist zu unterschiedlichen Graden der natürlichen Sprache angeglichen, so daß eine verständliche Art der Kommunikation zwischen Mensch und Maschine gewährleistet ist. In solchen Systemen sind eine Vielzahl von sogenannten ‘Einzweckprogrammen’, wie sie sich mit Programmiersprachen erstellen lassen zusammengefaßt. Diese sind für eine bestimmte Aufgabe konzipiert, also zum Beispiel zur Datenverwaltung (z.B.: dBase) oder, wie es hier interessiert zur statistischen Datenerhebung und Auswertung. Die Befehlssprache ist relativ simpel, einfach zu erlernen und setzt kein umfangreiches Informatikwissen voraus. Bekannte statistischen ‘Programmpakete’ sind zum Beispiel SAS, P-STAT, CSS/STATISTICA, oder SPSS.

Measuring the efficiency of a bank will never be separated from the measuring of the efficiency of bank’s branches. This study aimed to measure the efficiency of bank’s branches XYZ  in Indonesia period 2009-2011 using the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model Constant Return to Scale (CRS) and the model Variable Return to Scale (VRS), which is oriented towards input. DEA measurement approach used to measure the efficiency is the production. DEA measurement results will be compared with the financial ratios Operating Expenses Operating Income (ROA). Overall results of the efficiency of bank branches acquired XYZ does not reach 50% of the bank branch that operates efficiently than 60 branch banks in the observed. The results of the study also concluded that the models tend to be more relevant to use to measure the efficiency of a bank is modeled VRS. To ensure measurement results with the method of DEA adequately represent the real situation at a bank branch, to compare with the value BOPO owned bank branches, the results concluded that DEA model can represent the real situation in the bank branch observed.

This analysis report provides a snapshot of the survey research on assessing the effectiveness of public participation in Brisbane’s Neighbourhood Planning Programme. To form a holistic picture of the issue, two open-ended questions from a recent research survey were studied to shed light on challenging areas in the current process, framework and future planning implications of the Sherwood-Graceville Neighbourhood Plan (SGNP). Figure 1 indicates the location of Sherwood-Graceville District in the South East Queensland region, encompassing 4 suburbs including Sherwood, Graceville, Corinda and parts of Tennyson. 2006 Census from the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows that the district had a population of approximately 16,500 people. SGNP was formulated together with 35 other neighbourhood plans in 2006 to accommodate regional population growth within the metropolitan area by allocating growth to different districts. For Brisbane, the number of additional dwelling allocated is 156,000 till 2031, of which 138,000 would come from infill development. For SGNP, the controversy and media coverage of community disagreement with SGNP had raised questions about the legitimacy, transparency and effectiveness of the public participation process (PPP), which this report seeks to deconstruct.
