本書從文化人類學的角度探討十七世紀以來唐人從中國移民到越南後在地化成明鄉人並進一步成為越南人的認同轉變過程。鄭成功的舊屬「陳上川」曾率兵三千餘人投靠越南的阮氏政權。這些不願被滿清統治的明朝遺民最後落腳越南，大多數均與當地越南女子通婚而在地化成為「明鄉人」。「有唐山公，無唐山媽」這句台語不僅源自台灣，也適用在越南的明鄉人。越南明鄉人就如同明鄭時期流亡到台灣的唐山公，經由通婚及在地化過程，已落地生根成為新越南人。
This book explores the identity transformation of the Chinese who immigrated from China to Vietnam in the 17th century after the fall of the Ming Empire in China. Some former subordinates of Koxinga, such as Trần Thượng Xuyên (陳上川) brought three thousand soldiers to Vietnam. Most of them intermarried with the local Vietnamese women. They identified themselves as Minh Huong People (明鄉人) and finally as Vietnamese people. In this book, a lot of Minh Huong Assembly Halls and Chinese Assembly Halls in Vietnam were investigated. ‘Long Phi’ (龍飛) and ‘Long Tập’ (龍集) were two era names originally fabricated by Minh Huong People. In Vietnam, Long Phi is found much more commonly than Long Tập. In this study, 84 pieces were written with Long Phi, and only two were Long Tập. Per the relics found, the earliest Long Phi could be traced back to 1663, and the latest year as late as 1936, after the fall of Qing Empire in China. It reveals that Long Phi has gradually become a spiritual symbol rather than “opposing Qing to restore Ming” for the Minh Huong People after they have settled in Vietnam for generations.

This study investigated the degrees of language learning motivation among Vietnamese EFL full-time and part-time students, focusing on their instrumental and integrative motivations. The study's results, involving 271 students from a public higher education institution, revealed that Vietnamese students have high levels of language learning motivation. Fulltime students, particularly, have higher levels of integrative motivation, whereas part-time students have higher levels of instrumental motivation. Furthermore, the current study's qualitative data reveals EFL students' intuitive understanding of the term 'language learning motivation' was rather close to that of the literature. Upon their consideration of the importance of English, EFL students in Vietnam have positive attitudes toward learning a second language and disclose numerous approaches to sustain their learning process. Finally, based on the study's findings, suggestions and recommendations for teachers have been highlighted.

Book reading is an important factor contributing to children’s cognitive development and education for sustainable development. However, in a developing country like Vietnam, statistics have reported a low figure in book reading: only 1.2 books a year. This research study used a dataset of 1676 observations of junior high school students from Northern Vietnam to explore students’ reading behavior and its association with demographic factors, and the family’s reading culture. Data analysis suggests the older the student gets, the less inclined they are to read, and being female and having hobbies of low sensory stimulation are linked to higher preference for reading. Regarding scholarly culture at home, students who read more varied types of books and spend more time on books are correlated with higher reading interest. Reading habits are also positively reinforced by the capacity to access books and parental book reading.

Universities are increasingly catering to this wider market, which is especially enticing to institutions given that working, sometime mature-aged students may have deeper pockets and so often prefer to enrol into graduate and/or full-fee paying programs. International students are an important part of this more complete image of the university sector globally today. This paper will explore perceptions of Vietnamese international students studying with regard to their experience on teaching and learning in Australia through series of qualitative interviews. The findings indicate that Vietnamese students struggled with language, assessment, Western teaching and learning style.  Many interviewees felt that local students often lumped them together with other international students, who sometimes had no desire to befriend or even work with them. Resume C ette etude vise a utiliser un programme base sur l’apprentissage inverse d’apres le Youtube pour ameliorer la production orale en situations de communication chez les etudiants de deuxieme annee au cycle secondaire. Pour ce faire, le chercheur a filme le contenu oral de neuf modules en capsules video a l’aide de deux etudiantes de quatrieme annee au departement de francais a la faculte de pedagogie ayant un niveau avance ,puis, il a mis le contenu du programme a la disposition des apprenants en le telechargeant sur une chaine de Youtube qu’il a deja creee. Selon la strategie de l’apprentissage inverse, les etudiants consultaient le contenu du programme a la maison et quand ils rentraient en classe, ils executaient des activites en presence du chercheur. En appliquant un test de la production orale de DELF A2, les resultats ont affirme l’efficacite du programme sur le developpement des competences de la production orale chez les etudiants du groupe experimental.

An increasing number of mental health problems have been found in Vietnamese undergraduate students, including stress, anxiety, depression and suicide. One of the factors linked to increased mental health problems in Vietnamese undergraduate students is low emotional intelligence and a lack of coping skills. Emotional intelligence is involved in coping and problem-solving processes, reduces stress and has been found to improve physical and psychological wellbeing. Individuals who lack emotional intelligence experience more stress, have more mental health issues, lack adaptive coping skills and adopt unhealthy or risk-taking behaviours. Research demonstrates that many Vietnamese undergraduate students have difficulty adapting to changes, lack assertiveness and experience relationship instability. Their 7roblems also are thought to be partly caused by the pressures they experience while trying to adhere to social and cultural norms, which are strongly influenced by a mixture of value systems, including Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism and Socialism. 
The purpose of the present study is to explore the experiences of Vietnamese undergraduate students and their learning about emotional intelligence and coping strategies within Vietnam's social and cultural context. This research was conducted in the Vietnamese language. A descriptive qualitative study was used to explore participants' experiences of a programme designed to develop emotional intelligence and coping strategies. The participants were 21 undergraduate students aged 17–25 years old, living and studying in Hanoi. Audio diaries, interviews and cogenerative dialogues were utilised as data collection methods. Thematic analysis was used to analyse the data and present the main findings. The study showed that participants used avoidance and emotional suppression to cope with stress and interpersonal conflicts. These strategies were culturally shaped and aimed at maintaining interconnectedness and social harmony but had negative consequences on their wellbeing. Participants’ self-reported changes indicated some improvement in their perceived coping ability and their emotional abilities that contribute to emotional intelligence. The programme helped participants develop their emotional literacy, awareness and understanding. These abilities enabled them to develop a broader range of problem-solving skills, emotional acceptance, and increased self-control, leading to their changes. This change was evidenced in participants reporting feeling more liberated, empowered, and autonomous. They also felt more confident in their problem-solving ability and had more control over stressful situations.

Extensive reading is often promoted as being vital to cognitive development, especially for students in primary and secondary education. Studies on the generic structure of thesis and dissertation acknowledgments have resulted in some influential models such as Hyland’s (2004) and Al-Ali’s (2010) models. Few studies, if any, have investigated the generic structure of acknowledgments in books. Therefore, the present study was an attempt to find out whether the acknowledgments of books follow an organizational pattern. To this end, 200 books (100 written by native and 100 by non-native speakers of English) which included acknowledgements section, from a mass of 1000 books, were considered. The data were analyzed with reference to Hyland’s (2004) scheme. The results obtained from the analysis of the acknowledgments written by both native and non-native writers of English revealed that the overall structure of the acknowledgements section of the books follows an organizational pattern which is a combination of two models: Hyland’s (2004) scheme (all moves and steps), Al-Ali’s (2010) model (Praising and Thanking God Step ...

A KTMF indulásakor nemzetközi kapcsolatok szempontjából főként az akkori szocialista tábor, illetve a harmadik világ országai jöhettek szóba. Az első évek anyagának feldolgozása alapján főként az egykori Német Demokratikus Köztársaság irányába kerestek kapcsolatokat a főiskola vezetői. Kevésbé voltak intenzívek a kapcsolatok a Szovjetunió vonatkozásában. A kapitalista nyugatra elsősorban szakmai vásárokra, konferenciákra jutott el néhány oktató.
Ezek a korai kapcsolatok elsősorban mérnökszakmai és oktatásmódszertani eredményeket hoztak és későbbi tudományos együttműködések alapjait teremtették meg.

Writing in English is difficult for multilingual learners, and this is not an exception for Vietnamese students who learnt English as-a-foreign-language (EFL). However, few studies have been conducted on how these learners learnt this skill at their up-secondary schools (U-SS). This study thus plans to explore how 335 Vietnamese students at a U-SS perceived the importance of EFL writing, how they learnt it and what difficulties and expectations/suggestions they had in making the learning of this skill effectively. Employing a 5-point Likert-scale survey, open-ended questions and a focus-group interview, the study found these learners' awareness of the significance of this skill for their future betterment. Moreover, similar to students in other EFL settings, these students learnt this skill for learning other language skills, and their teachers did not have enough time to teach and provide feedback on their writing. However, their positive attitudes and how to learn this skill were greatly influenced by their teachers and educational conditions. These findings are therefore expected to shed more light on learners' perspectives in learning EFL writing at the U-SS level so that relevant support can be provided to help the learning of this skill in Vietnam and in similar EFL contexts.

The paper focuses on the features of acknowledgments in scientific texts written by Britishand Lithuanian authors in the Humanities. The data comes from a self-compiled corpusof acknowledgments in scientific books written by British and Lithuanian researchers intheir native languages, and from doctoral dissertations written by Lithuanian doctoralstudents in Lithuanian. The results of the quantitative and qualitative analysis suggest thatthe British scholars place more importance on acknowledgments as they single out theirthanks as separate sections, make them longer and express gratitude for a larger numberof individuals and institutions than the Lithuanian scholars. Generally the same movesand steps are employed in the three data sets, but the distribution of some moves and stepsis different.

The study was conducted to explore challenges Vietnamese postgraduate students were confronted with during their intercultural adaptation process in Taiwan. The participants (N = 28) were administered an open-ended questionnaire, probing into different aspects of their intercultural adjustment, namely academic, psychological and sociocultural issues. Findings indicated regarding academic life, the sojourn students encountered language barriers (both in English and Chinese), new pedagogical approach, examination and publication pressure. Other adjustment problems involved daily communication with the local, unfamiliar diet, homesickness, perceived discrimination, and few activities for international students. Implications for relevant stakeholders were discussed.

Reading practices play an important role in the learning process of students. Especially in a fast-changing world where knowledge about nature and society is in a constant state of flux, book reading helps students foster skills such as thinking, valuing, adaptability and creativity for sustainable development. This research study used a dataset of 1676 observations of junior high school students from Northern Vietnam to explore students’ academic achievement and its association with their reading passion, family socio economic condition, parental education and occupational aspiration. Extensive reading is often promoted as being vital to cognitive development, especially for students in primary and secondary education.
