Purpose/Intention Now, imagine you are designing a garden in the shape of a composite figure made

How do you illustrate this given word problem as a composite figure?
The perimeter is the total distance around the edge of a two-dimensional shape.
A triangle is a figure with three edges and three vertices. It is one of the basic shapes in geometry.
Length is the measurement of something from end to end. It is the longest dimension of an object.
A composite figure is a shape that is made up of two or more simple geometric shapes, such as triangles,
rectangles, circles, and so on.

Mr. Santos bought a corkboard for his classroom bulletin board. He needs two triangles of the same size
without wasting any part of the corkboard. How will he divide it? What will be the perimeter of each triangle?

2. How will he cut the cork board into two triangles without wasting any part?

Since triangles have 3 sides, follow this formula.
Triangle A = side1 + side2 + side3 or s1 + s2 + s3
Triangle A = 50 cm + 70 cm + 80 cm
Triangle A = 200 cm
Therefore, the Perimeter of Triangle A is 200 cm.
Then, calculate the perimeter of Triangle B.
Since Triangle A and Triangle B has the same measurement of sides, therefore the perimeter of Triangle B is
also 200 cm.
To get the perimeter of composite figure, just add all the measurement of each side of the composite
figure. Therefore, the perimeter of the composite figure is 240 cm.

For triangle A
P = 14m + 14m + 10m
P = 38m
Therefore, the perimeter of a triangle is 38 m.
For triangle B
P = 9m + 9m + 10m
P = 28m
Now, let us get to the perimeter of two triangles.
P = 38m + 28m = 66m
But if we are going to solve the perimeter of the composite figure which is the kite, we add all the sides around the
figure using this formula.
P = S1 + S2 + S3 = N (since the kite has 4 sides)
P = 14m + 14m + 9m + 9m
P = 46m
Therefore, the perimeter of the composite figure is 46m
Answer the questions below based on the given composite figure to the right:

Expected Answer: Simply add the measurements of the sides.
